Happens all the Time (Kobayashi Dragon Maid: Family Story)

Chapter One: Highschool Dragon and Anniversary Pt.1

Author's Note: Hello Guys, been promising this one for a while only haven't been in much of a mood to write it. Also, the last episode of season 2 kind of reignited this after watching it again for the unknown time. So here it is finally. Also, I'm aging up Tohru to match Kobayashi's age as to not make it creepy since she is, in official canon 16 human years. Also I gave Kobayashi a name in this, Hikari. Formerly it was Aoi as I finished watching Vrains at the time. Anyways Enjoy and please leave reviews or comments, it is what gets me to write more of these stories.

It was early in the morning as Tohru began to stir from her sleep. With a light stretch, she cracked her right eye to peek at Hikari Kobayashi's sleeping form next to her. For almost eight years, she has been married to her and it was truly a milestone on her life. Carefully, she climbed out of bed as to not disturb her beautiful wife. Ever so slightly she applied her weight to the wooden floor accidentally causing it to creak. Shooting her eyes over to Hikari, she saw her turnover in her sleep. Wiping the sweat from her brow, Tohru carefully made her way into the living room area.

Turning on the light, she almost jumped back with her claw as she saw Ilulu in a drunken slope on the couch. Moving the seven empty cans, a throne blanket in arm, Tohru approached the sleeping dragon as she covered. Moving towards the kitchen now, Tohru took out Kanna's bento box from the nearby draining rack. Pouring hot water into her soup container and caping it off, Tohru began to make some rolled egg to be placed in the box.

A couple hours passed when the bedroom finally opened to reveal Hikari stretching as she made her way to the toilet. As she passed by Tohru, she flashed her a smile before closing off the hallway door. Blushing ever so slightly, Tohru could not help but thump her tail lightly against the floor in both a sign of happiness and to not disturb the neighbors below them. Twenty minutes later, Hikari came out in a towel with her hair in a towel. Unable to contain herself, Tohru rushed over to her wife pulling her into a deep kiss as she weakly hit Tohru's shoulder. Pulling apart, a string of saliva between them Hikari glared at Tohru with an annoyed dead fish glare.

"What if Kanna or Ilulu saw us like that!" She yelled annoyed at her wife not noticing the still half-drunk Ilulu looking at them. Slowly the two turned their to see her looking at them. Her gaze, despite being half-drunk still, was one of interest.

"If you want, I could help you grow one of 'those' again Kobayashi. Pretty sure Tohru would love it." She commented as she drew a magic circle teasingly. She knew Hikari wouldn't agree to it as she has stated over the past eight years that she is female and will stay female despite having a fake one for her alone time with Tohru. Dispelling the circle, Ilulu turned her gaze to only Tohru, "Is breakfast ready?"

Tohru simply nodded as she released Hikari and returned to the kitchen. She was making souffle pancakes for breakfast as a kind of practice for her café job. Setting down the cakes at the table, Ilulu made her way to her seat. As she turned around again, she could see Hikari enter the room with her usual attire with a slight difference. A dragon eye necklace she received from Kanna last year as a gift for some kind of event she was having difficult remembering at this moment. "Looks good." She stated causing Tohru to smile before the loud annoy sound of Kanna's alarm went off.

Sighing loudly, Ilulu kicked open the door to her sister's room before smashing the alarm with her fist. Her hangover killing her with a headache that was much worst after that device went off. "Kanna! Wake up already!" She shook her to no avail. Once again, she shook her sister trying to wake her up when a small shock hit her right shin causing her to jump back. "Ow! What was that for?!" She exclaimed as she looked down to see Kanna's tail twitching in irritation before being rolled back under her. Looking at how Kanna was sleeping on her back now, Ilulu smiled devilishly as she climbed atop her sister, her knees between Kanna's arms and torso. Leaning over, she covered Kanna's face with her overly large flame sacks and proceeded to wait. It didn't take long before the flailing began from beneath her.

Sure, it was all fun and games until a blue light began to shine underneath her. Moving out of the way, she could see her sister staring at her with a blue bolt of electricity charging in her mouth. Instinctively, she created a dome spell to contain the attack to around Kanna as she fired at Ilulu. A loud boom was then heard from the room as Ilulu came racing out, her sister on her tail. Literally. Reaching over, Hikari barely touched her youngest daughter's head causing her to let go immediately. Ilulu was not in her chair blowing on her tail in pain as Kanna took her seat next to her mother. "Next time you put those sacks of fat on my face trying to suffocate me sister, I WILL rip them off."

Ilulu knew this was true since Kanna, despite being Neutral faction, was now more powerful than she was. It also didn't help that she was not a morning person or dragon anymore. "Now now Kanna, no reason to do that as your alarm did go off." Hikari said causing Kanna to shoot her a small glare. As much as she'd like to say something back to her mother, Tohru was in reach and glaring daggers at her just daring her to talk back or do something. With a sigh, she looked forward as her pancakes were set in front of her before she saw the date.

"Happy Anniversary Mom and Tohru," Kanna said aloud, causing Tohru to physically sweat in the kitchen. She had never seen her father celebrate anything in her life and yet again for the seventh time in a row, she has forgotten this small but important date to her and her wife.

"Thank you Kanna," Hikari stated pulling her daughter into a side hug despite the small charges coming off her. Having raised these dragons with Tohru, teaching them more about the world around them instead of the other world they originally come from. It was something she truly enjoyed, event though Kanna was nine and Ilulu was sixteen when they came into her life. "By the way, Tohru. Takeya and Elma are coming over tonight. Please make extra for them if you don't mind." The sound of the fridge opening was all the confirmation she needed before Tohru appeared next to her.

"Looks like I will need to hit the shopping center to pick up extra. Would a spending limit of 10,000 yen be alright?" Tohru asked as her wife's eyebrow raised slightly.

"That's a bit much. Got something planned for tonight?" She asked curiously. It was true that today was her anniversary with Tohru, and she would hope for something special from her. But in reality, she really just wanted time with her family, the family she built with Tohru, Kanna and Ilulu. No gifts, no fancy dinners required. Hell, she wouldn't even be mad at Tohru for forgetting today if Kanna didn't say anything. Annoyed yes, mad not in the slightest. "I'll give you a budget of 20,000. Sound good?" A little more than what Tohru was asking but she wouldn't mind as Tohru managed her maid café job rather well and helped financially stabilize their family.

"Oh s- I'm going to be late!" Kanna exclaimed bolting into her room to change. It was the first day of her freshman year at Oborozuka High School. As fast as she could, the young dragon appeared in her uniform. A light tan blazer covering her white blouse, a marine blue skirt with white leggings and a tan handbag in her hand. "Bye Mom, Tohru, and Pain in my ass!" She yelled out as the door shut.

And I think that's a good place to stop for the moment. Let me know what you guys think of the first chapter, despite the slightly rushed feeling of it. What should Tohru make for Dinner? Let me know in the comments section and it may end up in the next chapter. Expect the next Can You Sleep at Night soon!
