Author's Notes: I've been wanting to do a story like this for a long time. Currently playing Genshin Impact and loving it. And since BlazBlue Alternative Dark War has been released already, this is story serves as to commemorate these two games I love dearly!
Important Notes: The setting of BlazBlue here is after the events of "Centralfiction".
Prologue - Trouble in Teyvat
With the sacrifice of the SS-Class Criminal knows as Ragna the Bloodedge, the world has now been released from the hands of the Amaterasu Unit. The time loops have been broken and it's place, a single timeline is now permanently established.
Seithr levels below the hierarchal cities have dropped and can now be inhabited once again. The world will heal. Slowly but surely.
The Novus Orbis Librarium, the government that rules the entire world had risen once more with it's newest Imperator, Homura Amanohokasaka. Their objective remains the same as it always was - to maintain peace and order. With the land below being eyed on by human civilization, the once uninhabitable ruined cities are now being rebuilt at an alarming rate due to technological advancements. In response to this, the Librarium began to expand it's territories in the shadow of the mountains. After all, this peace was hard-fought and must be maintained, no matter the cost. The world is as one once again.
Jin Kisaragi, known all around the world as the "Hero of Ikaruga", the Librarium's greatest and most powerful Commander, first-class Soldier and Knight in their service, and the next in-line Head of the Kisaragi family of the Duodecim, had also made plans to get rid of the corrupt and power-hungry nobles within his clan. With the help of his closest friends and the Imperator, these greedy and envious lot have been unceremoniously dismissed from their ranks. With the young Kisaragi's influence and guidance, the once-infamous family known for it's social darwinism have garnered respect from the rest of the nobles and even from the all-powerful Mutsuki family that is considered to be the greatest of the Duodecim.
One day, a piece of necklace attached itself to Jin's neck. The necklace has a noticeable symbol on it's jewelry - the symbol of a snowflake. The same symbol as his own ability to control and manipulate the elemental power of ice. No matter how hard he tries to get rid of this strange necklace, it always finds it's way to him over and over again. It's like a part of his being that he can never get rid of. Along with this event came a whisper:
"Hero chosen by the Gods… Please, save us… Save us all…"
It has been three years since he defeated Susano'o with the man he can't remember anymore…
He was just promoted to Colonel not three days ago - the same rank as his friend, Kagura Mutsuki. This will be his first mission holding this rank. But based on the rumors he had heard after his medal ceremony, this mission will require him to move to a different continent alone. As he continued to walk towards the meeting room where he will be given details regarding this mission, he endlessly contemplated if he's nothing more than a pawn for them to send him without any help. Sure, the NOL has connections everywhere in the world, but without any allies backing him up, his mind can't help but wonder. Then again, the NOL expanded it's operations to the lands below the hierarchal cities, and even though the Seithr levels have dropped there, monsters, criminals and bandits still roam the land and have not dimished in quantity. In fact, they only increased in numbers in recent years.
"War never ends, does it?" He silently whispered in his head.
The NOL needs more soldiers to be stationed on their new territories, which makes sense. When he reached the meeting room, he slowly opened the doors to reveal two of his Captains along with the Imperator sitting in the middle.
"Welcome, Colonel Jin Kisaragi…" one of the Captains started.
"We have been expecting you…" the other Captain followed suit. "Please, have a seat."
"Yes, sir!" He saluted and took a seat opposite to them.
"You already know why you're here, don't you, Colonel?"
"Yes." He answered. "May I assume that this is regarding my mission to the continent of Teyvat?"
"That is right."
One of the Captains stood up and turned on the big monitor screen behind them to reveal a continent full of lush greenery. There's a noticeable castle overlooking on the center surrounded by rivers.
The Captain cleared his throat. "Teyvat is a continent established and created by beings known as Archons."
"Archons?" Jin questioned.
"They are the equivalent of Gods." The young Imperator now spoke and stood up from his seat. "Thousands of years ago, there was an event called the Archon War. There were many Archons, each with control over particular aspect of the elements - Anemo, which represents Wind. Geo, which represents Earth. Electro, which represents Lightning. Dendro, which represents Nature. Hydro, which represents Water. Pyro, which represents Fire. And then finally, Cryo, which represents Ice."
Jin's eyebrows furrowed when he heard the word Cryo. The same powers as his own.
"When seven divine thrones were opened up at the heavens knows as Celestia, the Archons fought each other for complete dominion over these thrones for absolute power over their elements. The seven Archons who won that war established the continent of Teyvat, it's seven nations, and the seven elements as they are known today."
Jin nodded at the lecture. "So, my Imperator, to what do I owe Teyvat the pleasure of my visit?"
"We have received news of trouble stirring there, Colonel." One of the Captains answered. "We commission a lot of important trades and dealings with the continent of Teyvat. A number of our Ars Magus Air Vessels carrying goods on their way to Teyvat were reportedly destroyed by a monstrous blue dragon described as bearing storms of terror. None of our airships who saw this creature returned alive."
"A blue dragon bearing storms of terror…" He muttered.
"We lack details at this time, but we request that you go there and investigate this matter and resolve it as best you can." The Captain said.
"We request as well that you go alone because we need those other soldiers to be stationed on our newly-established branches on this continent." The other Captain followed up. "Fear not, Colonel. We have a very good standing relationship with the people of Teyvat, so you won't have much trouble on your journey there should you ever need their help. We have complete faith in you."
Oh sure, that's comforting. Isn't their trust highly misplaced? They're sending him to an unknown continent unprepared with nothing but their instinctual beliefs simply because THEY have faith in him? Or is this simply the will of the World itself because, after all, the Power of Order that resides within him makes it so that the balance between good and evil must be maintained, no matter what? But a soldier is a soldier, and a knight is a knight. If this is the will of the World calling to him again, then so be it.
"Very well…" He stood up and saluted his Captains again. "I accept this mission in the name of our Goddess Novus, and the Imperator!"
Note to readers: The Goddess, Novus, is the deity worshiped by the people within the Novus Orbis Librarium. It is basically the "Catholic" religion of their continent. If you take a look at Jin Kisaragi's stage in the first BlazBlue game, "Calamity Trigger", there is a giant statue of a woman on the background. I decided to give that statue a name. It is also the statue seen in Tsubaki Yayoi's ASTRAL FINISH.
With that, Homura stood up and pointed his open palm at him. "Very good, Colonel. You shall leave at tomorrow's morn."
"Where should I start there, my liege?" He asked.
"First, go to the town of Mondstadt. You shall begin your journey there." Homura answered.
"Gather as much intel as you can, then I'm sure you will know what to do from there." One of the Captains said.
"You are our most powerful asset, Colonel. Please return to us safely once this is all over." The other Captain followed after. "Understood?"
"I will do my best." He answered.
"You are dismissed, Colonel. You may now go back to your quarters to rest and prepare."
Jin saluted for the final time and bowed his head respectfully before exiting the room and closing the door behind him. Once he reached his bedroom, he noticed that night has already fallen. The bright full moon can be seen hovering above the city lights. The moon is unusually gigantic tonight. Could this be a sign? It doesn't matter. One thing's for sure - he HATES the moon. But the way it stares down at the city below is kind of beautiful, he will admit that. He won't be seeing those same cities for a long while. As he sat on his bed, he took a look at the picture beside his lamp. He remembers it clearly; it was the day of his graduation in the Military Academy before he got sent off to the Ikaruga Civil War years ago. He is in the center of the picture. Tsubaki, Makoto, Mai, Kajun, Taro, Akane, and even his little sister, Noel, are all beside him wearing extremely happy smiles on their faces.
"You guys are a real handful, you know that?" He silently said to himself as he let out a small chuckle.
He admits that he wished those times could last forever. But what is forever in this world, anyways? He placed the picture back on the table and prepared himself for long night's sleep. Yes indeed, this will be a long night.
At Teyvat, the same moon is shining it's light on the grassy fields. Monsters at this time are still active especially slimes as they never sleep. Hilichurls are on their night shift guard duties so one cannot be careless. After the two companions have secured their area making sure it's safe, they've set up their camps and contemplated on their next destination.
"So Paimon, are you sure that The Seven you're talking about can help me find my missing sibling?" the mysterious person asked the little fairy.
"Paimon is sure of it!" she answered excitedly. "After all, they are the Gods of this continent. If they can't help you, no one can!"
"I guess we have no choice." the person said while stretching.
"Paimon is tired…" the little fairy yawned. "Let's get some sleep then. We're off to Mondstadt tomorrow morning, so we can start there with the Anemo Archon!"
"Right."
The person still contemplated while waiting for the consciousness to drop. Yes indeed, this will be a long night.
