Nanny or Mommy
Chapter 19: Past Transgression
Disclaimer: I Don't own Naruto.
Sasuke looked to his right to find his daughter Sarada Uchiha looking up at him with a questioning look in her onyx eyes. Just like his. His five year old was smart for her age then again he was her father. To match her charcoal black eyes just like him she also had jet black hair. The only thing she picked up from her mother was her need for glasses and facial structure.
He kind of felt bad that he was forced to keep his daughter a secret from the world. By doing so that meant she was unable to make friends and had to be very lonely. The only people who knew about Sarada was his family, Naruto and Sarada's caretakers.
His family didn't like the fact that he had a child out of wedlock. Before that, he was already on thin ice with his family for becoming an actor so going to the States was a wonderful getaway from their glares. He hadn't been back since 3 years ago. Now he was coming back along with his child to find out what was going on with his problematic family.
"What is it Sarada?"
"Are we going back home?" He thought for a moment unsure if he wanted to take Sarada with him to see everyone. Especially if he suspected what had happened. So he made up his mind to not take her with him to the Uchiha residence.
"I'm going but I'm not taking you with me." Sarada looked down in disappointment. She really wanted to see her family and not be hidden away all her life. She asked her father plenty of times why she couldn't go out or have friends but he refused to answer every time. In the end, she realized that throwing tantrums weren't going to change his mind and just accepted the fact she'll be lonely forever.
"I have a friend you'll stay with while I'm handling business. He has a kid your own age and another kid that's three."
"R-really!?" She looked joyfully up at him again with eyes full of love.
He nodded confirming her question and watched as she cheered. He rarely smiled a real smile but his daughter was able to make one appear anytime she wanted.
"What's their name? Are they boys or girls?" She was so excited that was bouncing in her seat. He hasn't seen her so excited in a while so it was a marvelous sight.
"Boruto and Himawari a boy and girl." She looked up trying to picture how the two looked. Sasuke just hoped Naruto wasn't too angry at him still and would allow his child to stay with him.

Naruto and Sakura arrived at his parent's home sometime later since they got caught in the middle of everyone attempting to make their way home. The ride back was silent with both thinking about how their first date went. It wasn't necessarily a bad date but it wasn't the best date that Naruto wanted to give her. So when he put the car in park and turned it off, before she could make a move to get out he grabbed her warm soft smaller hand.
She was surprised but she didn't object to him touching her she hasn't throughout the whole date. They stared at each other for a good while waiting for one or the other to break the intense silence. "I heard you." He simply stated finally breaking the silence.
Sakura lifted her brows with a questioning look upon her face. She didn't understand what he was going on about but still waited patiently for him to continue with that statement.
"Earlier you questioned if this was a mistake or not." He noticed her face take on an understanding look but still she didn't deny or admit it. With his other hand albeit slowly he raised it close to her face as if he was trying to get close to a wounded dog. He gave her ample time to do something but she didn't so he took that as a go ahead. Softly Naruto touched her larger than average forehead and guided his fingers to the left side of her face that were covered by her bangs. He put that piece of hair behind her ear as he observed every feature of her face. He never noticed how many different shades of green her eyes consisted of and how they reflected the moonlight back at him.
"No regrets." He said gently as his hand reached her cheek and caressed the soft skin. He didn't know what came over him to do all of this to her but she wasn't objecting. In fact, she seemed kind of excited if her breathing was a telltale sign.
Sakura shakily sighed but it wasn't a sad sigh but instead, it seemed to release all the tension in her.
His thumb softly went over her slightly agape lips. He couldn't believe how soft her lips were and even though he was fascinated and wanted desperately to taste her lips. At the moment he took pride in the fact that she was speechless and shuddering from what he assumed was his touch.
Slowly he guided her head towards his own until they were only a breath apart. "Is this ok?" The two could smell each other's scent both the natural and the added fragrance from their perfume and cologne. They stared at each other for a moment but it felt more like hours before she answered. It was the first time she spoke since they'd got in the car.
"Ye—ye—" she struggled to give him her permission. Either way, It wasn't like she got the chance since before she could get the words out, his lips crashed against hers.
It was like a spark as soon as their lips met and they felt warm and fuzzy after they separated. The kiss lasted a second but that second would replay in their minds for maybe all of eternity that was if that was the only kiss of the night. The separation didn't last long because with hunger deep in the pit of their stomachs they dove back in. The softness of their first kiss was quickly forgotten as the intensity of the second overtook them. Being the more experienced one out of the both of them Naruto took control of the direction the kiss was going.
Sakura was so caught up in the moment she didn't even notice Naruto's lips slightly part until she felt something moist prod her mouth. She gasped sharply and Naruto used that to his advantage by shoving his tongue into her mouth and engaged her in a battle between their moist muscles. She was so lost in the kiss that she found herself unable to break apart not even for air. They were both breathing heavily as they made out with each other neither willing to break it up for much-needed air for fear it'd be over if they do.
They would have stayed like that for longer and maybe further but instead of feeling the pleasure Sakura started feeling pain. She quickly pulled back and snatched her hand away from him. She clutched it gently with a pained expression on her face. Naruto connected two and two together and profusely apologized.
The pinkette ignored him as she silently hoped it wasn't going to bruise later but knew that was wishful thinking.
"We should get inside and put some ice on your hand. Again I'm so sorry I got caught up in the moment." He said softly with a tinge of pink dusting his cheeks. She cleared her throat and agreed wholeheartedly with her own blush.
He got out of the car looked down at his watch and realized how long they've been sitting there talking but mostly kissing. He walked over to her side and opened the door. She smiled shyly with gratification and got out following behind him to the front door of his parent's home.
He took out a key and opened the door and they immediately went to the kitchen to grab some ice. "Again I'm really sorry," Naruto said as he grabbed a towel and put a few cubes on it. He walked back over to where she decided to take a seat.
"I-It's fine." She reached for the towel with the ice but was swiftly rejected. The blonde took a seat beside her and gently held her hand and applied the ice. They sat in silence neither one knowing what to talk about. The kiss was magical but they didn't want to bring it up for fear they'll get caught up in it again and the last thing they needed was to get caught by anyone the house. Besides Sakura wasn't feeling too hot about taking it that far on the first date. A peck would have been fine but a full-blown make-out session...
She couldn't exactly blame anyone but herself since she could have easily said no, she was just so caught up in the moment that one thing led to another.
Naruto, on the other hand, wasn't regretting the kiss once so ever, in fact, he was playing it over and over in his head. Outside of movies he hadn't kissed a woman in god knows how long. He forgot how exhilarating it was and now sitting there watching her he wanted more.
"We should get to bed my hand should be alright." She tried to grin but from the frown on his face, she could tell it wasn't working.
"Sakura-chan we hav—"
"I know just give me some time. Please?" She pleaded without looking at him in the eyes.
He conceded and let her quickly walk away leaving him alone in the kitchen. Time is what she wants I'll give her time.
.x.
The next morning just like the previous morning the smell of breakfast wafted the whole house awakening everyone and their hungry bellies. Naruto sat up and looked at the time on his phone. The time read 9:05 much to his displeasure. He didn't go to sleep until midnight.
Naruto mentally went over his schedule for this week that's when he realized he never informed Hanabi that the kids changed their mind. He thought long and hard about whether he really wanted to call the youngest Hyuga or text her. In the end, he decided to call her.
He taped her contact, pushed call, and held the phone up to his ear and waited for her to pick up. After the third ring, she finally picked up and her greeting wasn't as kind as he would've liked.
"What do you want Uzumaki?"
Naruto rolled his eyes. He wouldn't let her disdain towards him get him down. "If I didn't know any better I would say you're happy to hear from me." He said with sarcasm leaking out of his tone.
Her dry snort made him slightly cringe but he didn't comment on it. "Last time asking what do you want?"
"Try to lighten up Hanabi. My kids changed their mind so if you want to pick them up tomor—"
"It can't be this week my father and I already have a booked schedule. How about next week?" He was dumbfounded she wanted this and couldn't even take them on the week she originally wanted them. Why does every interaction between them end up with them negotiating?
"I'm sure you know that next week is their last week of summer vacation." He planned on taking time off to hang out with them that week before they had to attend school.
"I'm well aware Uzumaki maybe if you had told me they changed their minds sooner we wouldn't have filled our schedules," Naruto grumbled to himself knowing that she's right.
"Fine remember five days." He reluctantly agreed. He hated how he seemed to always lose in negotiations with her.
"You're not as stupid as you look glad you could agree." Before he could retort she quickly hung up. Probably to tell her father about their conversation.
Naruto threw his phone on the bed and went to take a shower before heading downstairs. He adjusted the water and took off his clothes and got in. He felt like he was forgetting something the whole time he was washing.
What did I do last night?
A second later after asking himself that question it all came back to him in a rush. Every detail from that night flooded his senses but what affected him the most was that kiss. He grunted when he felt a fire deep in the pit of his stomach travel downward.
Naruto sighed and adjusted the comfortable warm temperature to cold. He had to get ahold of himself before meeting up with her again.
Despite the cold shower he was taking, he couldn't help but laugh to himself. The date took a turn he wasn't expecting at all. Sakura didn't even seem grossed out by the kiss but embarrassed. He wondered what they were going to do from this moment on.
Once his little problem was handled he turned off the shower and dried off then wrapped the towel around his waist. He quickly picked out a plain light blue short sleeve button up shirt along with a dark pair of trousers. He hoped his kids were up and ready so as soon as breakfast was over they could just leave. He loved his parents but he couldn't wait to get back to his own home. Naruto did a once over in the mirror then walked out of the room but not before grabbing his cellphone.
He immediately went to his youngest child's room first knowing she'll need the most help. Surprisingly when he got there she was missing and her little suitcase was all packed up. He rose an eyebrow wondering if he was the one that was late.
Naruto's next stop was his son's room and just like Himawari he was gone and his suitcase was already packed. He shut the door behind him and eyed the door that belonged to his nanny. Chances are if the kids are up and about then Sakura should be up also. Nonetheless, he decided to go and check the room anyway.
Naruto knocked then opened the door slightly to peek his head in. He was shocked to find his nanny still laying there softly snoring, hair slightly tousled. Naruto opened the door further and knew that the responsibility of waking the pinkette up would fall on him.
He sighed lightly as he walked closer to the bed that he found his pink haired nanny spread out on. She just stated that she needed time and now he was the one who had to wake her up. He guessed his parents were giving them a break by getting the kids up and ready and he very much appreciated that.
"Sakura-chan." He gently called from a relatively safe distance away. Still, she didn't budge. He didn't realize how much of a deep sleeper she was then again he's only seen her sleep once and that time he wasn't really paying attention.
"Sakura-chan." He said again with once again no luck in waking her so he decided to stop wasting time and just shake her awake.
"Sakura-chan." He said as he gently shook her.
She groaned and rubbed her eyes before looking at the one who dared disturb her sleep. With sleep still in her mind, she didn't process who exactly was waking her up and why that was such a problem.
Sakura squirted her eyes to get a good luck at the blonde. They stared at each other for a moment until it finally clicked for Sakura. "Ahh!" She rolled away as quick as she could but that plan didn't really work out since she ended up rolling on the floor.
"Ouch." She said from the other side of the bed. She laid there for a second until she heard snickering from the bed. She swiftly sat up and glared at the person who caused this to happen to her. "What the hell are you doing in here?"
He smirked and immediately knew the steps to their dance. "My such language." If possible her glare grew fiercer. "You're my nanny yet you're the last one up." He said jokingly serious.
"And who's fault is that." She mumbled to herself before standing up finally. She finally fell asleep 4 hours ago since her mind was in such disarray.
"What was that Sakura-chan?" Although he was joking it seemed that the only way she would feel comfortable around him is if he acted professionally.
"Well I'm up...you can leave now." She said as she stood up and dusted herself off.
For the first time since walking in, he could see exactly what she was wearing and the shirt made him chuckle. She lifted a brow wondering what exactly was just so funny. She was unconsciously fixing her hair and pulling her shirt down.
"Alright, kickass ninja I'll leave you to it. Don't worry about the kids their up and ready to go I'm guessing my parents took care of them." Naruto walked out the door still chuckling to himself.
Kickass ninja? Then it clicked her stupid shirt that she picked up years ago said those exact words. "Damn you Naruto." She grumbled to herself.
...
Naruto made his way down the stairs and the closer he got to the kitchen the clearer the voices got. He walked in with a large grin on his face as the smell of delicious food assaulted his senses. "Good morning." He greeted everyone.
"Morning sweetie. Ohh someone looks happy did your date go well." She giggled to herself with a mischievous look on her face.
"Grandma, what a date?" Himawari asked the redhead.
"Mommm." Naruto groaned.
"What?"
"Hime I'll tell you when you're older." He patted her head as she nodded happily.
"Can I know?" Bolt finally spoke up since he was just as curious as his little sister.
"Same goes for you Bolt." The five-year-old crossed his arms and pouted.
"Come now Naruto it's not going to hurt them by knowing what the word is." Naruto rolled his eyes and grabbed a piece of bacon.
"Then you explain it." He said with his mouth full of bacon.
"Minato explain it to them," Kushina ordered before going back to the stove. Minato who was reading on his tablet looked up surprised. He completely zoned the conversation out.
"Please Grandpa." Bolt pleaded with puppy dog eyes. He looked from the kids to the mother-son duo who had the audacity to try look to look innocent.
Suddenly the door opened where his saving grace came walking in trying to stifle a yawn. "Ask Sakura."
"Ask me what?" She managed to get out before getting bombarded by the children.
"What's a date?" They both asked at the same time with innocent looks on their faces. Her own face took on a slight pink shade as she wondered why they were asking. She looked up immediately at Naruto who nervously pointed at his mother. She wasn't sure if she believed him though.
"You can blame Kushina for this conversation," Minato spoke up telling on his wife.
"Minatoo you never let me have fun." She walked over to him pouting. "You're lucky I love you Blondie." She gave him a peck on the lips before going back to finishing up breakfast.
"Gross." Bolt said with disgust clearly written on his face.
"I'm sure you'll see plenty of that soon." Kushina slyly grinned to herself.
"Wait! What do you mean?" Naruto hoped to god she didn't see what happened last night because if she did then everything would be ruined. Maybe he was being a bit dramatic but hey he's an actor it's in his blood.
"Being the worried mother I am I may have looked at the cameras that are installed outside. But don't worry I won't tell anyone about you two sucking faces." The redhead said much to the mortification of both Naruto and Sakura. "I'm glad your date went so well though." Both Sakura and Naruto we're stuck in place, petrified over what they heard and to make matters worse she reminded the kids about their question.
"Sakura-chan pwease tell us what that word mean," Himawari begged while pulling on the pinkette's arm but it did manage to snap her out of her frozen state. Naruto, on the other hand, was busy thinking of ways that he could get his own mother back for invading his personal space. So far nothing was coming to mind.
Sakura sighed and thought about how to explain the word in kid terms. "Uh well, when two people like like eachother very much they want to hang out with just each other. They do that to get to know each other better." She eyed them carefully and it seemed that they understood her. If only she was prepared for their next question.
"So when you left yesterday you went on a date?" Bolt wondered to himself connecting the dots.
"Uhh."
It seemed that Bolt wasn't done connecting the dots when he spoke again. "With dad?"
She was blushing so much that she was sweating. "Uhh."
"Do you love daddy?" Himawari asked looking up at her with big innocent eyes. At any moment Sakura could have fainted and she would have welcomed it, anything to escape the awkward question but alas her body wouldn't allow it.
"Alright kids come on leave Sakura alone it's time for breakfast," Kushina spoke up throwing the poor girl a bone even though she was the one who started it. The redhead ushered the kids to the dining room while shooting both Naruto and Sakura knowing look.
"Well, that wasn't how I wanted things to go," Naruto muttered as he ran his fingers through his messy blonde hair. She had to admit though the messy blonde look worked for him.
She lifted a brow questioningly. "What does that mean?"
"I wanted to give you some space and time to think about the...y'know." It wasn't like he was shy about the kiss. He was damn near 30 with plenty of experience when it came to romantic gestures it's just he didn't know how she felt about it.
The pinkette blushed as the kiss that took her ability to speak the rest of the night played on repeat in her head. She had to get a hold of herself and establish what that moment meant. Luckily she didn't have to say it.
"What does it mean?" She noticed movement out of the corner of her eye but that didn't deter her from watching Naruto's every movement especially when he came a few steps closer.
"I—" just as she was about to say something his cell phone started ringing. It seemed to do that at the worst possible times.
He didn't answer it for a moment and thought about letting it continue ringing or turn it off. But he realized it could be something important so with only a slight hesitation he answered it without looking to see who it was.
"Hello."
Sakura meanwhile walked into the dining room to hopefully calm her racing heart.
Naruto watched her leave with an annoyed expression on his face. But that expression was quickly wiped away when he heard the voice on the other end of the phone. It had been years since he heard it but it was a voice he could never forget.
"Hey dobe." It was such a dry greeting that Naruto couldn't even respond with his usual insulting greeting to his best friend once upon a time.
"Cat got your tongue?" Finally, Naruto was able to get his thoughts together along with his emotions but the only one he felt was deep seeded anger.
"Why in the hell are you calling me?" He growled into the phone.
"So he speaks. Listen I wouldn't be calling if it wasn't important." Sasuke waited a moment before continuing just in case Naruto had something he wanted to say. "I need you to do me a favor—"
"Ha ha!" The sound of Naruto's mocking laughter cut through Sasuke like a knife and for the first time since their fall out he realized that Naruto really loathed him.
"Naruto please." He begged which actually got Naruto to stop mockingly laughing at him. Naruto knew that it was rare for the Uchiha to actually beg for anything.
He took Naruto's reluctant silence as a sign to explain himself and so he did. "I know that what I did wasn't favorable."
Naruto scoffed, "oh so getting my cousin pregnant, leaving her when she tells you about it, then coming back when she has the baby only to take the baby with you and not allowing her to see the kid once wasn't favorable? It was more than unfavorable you jackass!" The Uchihas were some of the best lawyers in the world so trying to get Karin custody of their child was damn near impossible.
"I couldn't—"
"You could do a lot of things you two didn't have to be together, but you could have at least co-parented. She couldn't wait to have your child even when you just up and left when she told you ab—"
"This isn't what I wanted to talk to you about!" Sasuke took a calming breath before continuing in his usual 'I don't care about anything' tone. "We probably should talk about this because we never got the chance to but what I do want to ask of you is important."
Naruto leaned up against the wall taking his own calming breath before speaking. "What do you want?"
"Well to start I'm on my way to Konoha as we speak I should get there in an hour or two. I got a text from Itachi about my mother that was very concerning. I just need you to keep Sarada for a few days that's all I'm asking."
"Sarada." Naruto said testing the name on his tongue. He assumed that Karin had no choice in what she wanted to name Sarada. "When Sarada eventually asked about her mother what did you tell her exactly?"
"Naruto—"
"Just tell me the truth for once then I'll give you my answer to your request." Naruto quickly interjected.
"...I told her that her mother died." Naruto chuckled dryly even when Naruto asked for the whole truth all he got was half-truths from the Uchiha.
"I'm assuming you told her that she died at childbirth." Sasuke's reluctant silence was the only answer he needed. "So you didn't tell her that Karin killed herself because of you. Interesting... I'll take in the child." With that, he hung up and slammed his phone on the counter. He was the one who found Karin with a gun in her hand and a bullet through her head since it happened in his own home. He looked around in the cabinets for something strong to take a shot of in order to ease the renewed pain he was feeling from remembering his cousin.
"Naruto?" With every cabinet he opened that didn't have any liquor in it he slammed it shut harder. "Naruto!" He was suddenly jerked around and forced to look into the eyes of his father.
"What's wrong son?" He asked gently trying to soothe his troubled son.
Naruto stared into his father eyes trying to decide whether to tell him or not. No one in his family knew about the incident except him and Hinata. All they knew was that Karin killed herself and not the reason for it. They never told anyone because Karin wrote in her suicide note not to reveal why she did it. Even when she decided to take her own life she still wanted to protect Sasuke from any backlash. "Sorry I just got done talking with Sasuke." He spat out the Uchiha's name with such disgust even Minato was surprised.
"Sasuke? What did he want?" Minato was concerned that his son sounded so hateful especially at the mere mention of his so-called best friend.
"Just a favor." Naruto walked through the door leaving a confused Minato behind. He felt like he missed something completely. He shook his head and followed the blonde back in the dining room. Just as he arrived Naruto just finished telling Kushina something. From
The look on her face she seemed disappointed.
"You have to leave so soon?" Naruto nodded before taking a seat at the table. He quickly put different foods on his plate and shoved it into his mouth at an alarming rate. "Did something happen?" Kushina pushed trying to get more information out of him. She could clearly see that something was nothing him but figuring it out was like pulling teeth.
"Nothing to worry about. Speed up kids we're leaving in a few." The blonde stood up and walked out to grab the bags and put them in the car.
Sakura sighed. "Take your time if you eat too fast you'll choke." She said to the kids who nodded and kept their same pace. She hoped Naruto would tell her what's the matter later on but she highly doubted that.
...
The goodbyes were very quick what with Naruto rushing them out the door. She just barely got Kushina's number before getting practically pushed out the door. They've been in the car on the road for about an hour and Naruto had yet to explain himself. Before leaving she promised Kushina that she would fix Naruto's bad mood and damn it she would.
She spent the past hour thinking of icebreakers but none of them fit the situation. So she would just have to bring up their conversation from earlier albeit reluctantly.
Sakura steeled her nerves and loudly cleared her throat. He didn't look over at her since he was driving but she could tell that she got his attention by the slight tilt of his head in her direction.
"Earlier you asked me something..." she softly muttered.
His only response was a grunt which let her know that whatever was bothering him wasn't just going to simply go away without a fight.
"W-well I'm willing to go on a few more d-dates and see where we go." She stuttered out while internally cursing herself.
"Sakura-chan I know what you're trying to do but right now my mind is on something else and as much as I appreciate what it is you're trying to do, could you tell me this when you're absolutely sure this is what you want and not when you're just trying to cheer me up." He said in such a placating tone she almost wanted to glare at him.
"I wouldn't say something I didn't mean Baka especially to cheer you up. This is a one time deal." She crossed her arms and glowered out of the window.
Naruto softly chuckled and she hated to admit it but she liked the sound of it. "Fine."
"Wait what?" She thought aloud.
"I said fine. But just a fair warning prepare to be charmed." He grinned mischievously which she returned with her own cocky smirk.
"We'll see."
The rest of the car ride after that wasn't too bad a bit uncomfortable but less tense that was until they reached home.
"Sakura can you drive?" Sakura looked at the blonde with surprise written all over her face. It was a strange question to just ask out of the blue.
"Uh yeah." She answered unsurely.
"I need you to take the kids to the park and come back no earlier than an hour. Understand?"
"Wh—"
"Please Sakura as your boss I'm not asking." Sakura looked at the kids in the back seat who looked sad and worried. She almost forgot he was her boss first and everything else second.
"Fine." She begrudgingly got out of the car and walked over to the driver side.
"You kids enjoy your time at the park ok?" Himawari nodded excitedly having no idea what was going on. Bolt on the other hand just glared at his father his five-year-old mind didn't know what was going on but he did sense the vibe...
Naruto got out and stepped aside so Sakura could get in. He felt horrible about pulling the whole I'm your boss thing but he needed to get her to leave quickly even at the cost of her being angry at him. He'd make it up to her later...hopefully.
Once she drove away and the car was no longer in view he turned towards the all black tinted windows car. It was like a blast from the past when a certain Uchiha stepped out of his car followed by a smaller female version of him with glasses.
"Naruto."
"Sasuke."
