Chapter 4
Toothless and his family flew long distances, longer than usual. They flew over the ocean, through mountain tops, they flew at night as well. The NightLights got tired so Pouncer slept on Luna's back and Dart and Ruffrunner slept on Toothless' back. The next day, they had to fly through a storm. Thunder and lightning rumbled and flashed while rain pelted down on them. Then Toothless saw an opening.
He told them to fly through. When they arrived on the other side, they stopped and hovered. Miles of feet away was an island. The storm clouds were still hovering in the sky but a small patch of sunlight managed to get through, the sun's rays hitting the island.
Toothless flew to the island and landed onto the soft green grass. It had what appears to look like an old volcano. It had small hills but the island was mostly rock with a several caves that went deep inside the mountain, a few trees to the left with a small lake.
Nervously, Toothless roared. He perked his earplates up to hear anything but nothing.
"Are you sure this is the right place?" Luna whispered to him.
"I'm not sure." Toothless whispered back.
The NightLights were between their parents, close to each other. Then something moved. Toothless eyed the caves, hoping to spot something. Then a small Night Fury appeared. Toothless' eyes widened. Then slowly one by one, Night Furies started to come out of the caves.
"Toothless. They're here. We found them." Luna said in awe.
"I know." Toothless said with pride.
Then a small very dark-navy blue, a almost black colored Night Fury walked up to them.
"Who are you? How did you find us?" the Night Fury asked.
"I am Toothless. King of the Dragons. This is my mate Luna, a Light Fury. And these are my NightLights, Dart, Ruffrunner, and Pouncer."
The Night Furies started whispered to each other.
"You're the king of dragons? Where did you come from?" the same Night Fury asked.
"I came from the Hidden World." Toothless said.
The Night Furies all gasped and the whispering got louder.
"The Hidden World? Isn't that a myth?" said a Night Fury.
"No. No, it's real! Only dragons are allowed there. You'll all be safe there." Toothless told them.
"Safe enough to hide us from Ivy?" said a male Night Fury.
"Ivy? Who's Ivy?" Toothless asked.
"She's a Death Fury. She looks like us but she's different. She thinks different. She fights different. She's been hunting us ever since we escaped Grimmel's fury." the female Night Fury said.
"So it is true. You guys survived."
"Barely. We lost our last alpha and a few others." she said.
"I could be your alpha." Toothless offered.
"We'll see. Come, I'll show you around."
Toothless followed the female Night Fury.
"So, what's your name?" Toothless asked her.
"I'm Midnight." Midnight answered.
They went inside a cave which ended up a tunnel. Night Furies were either coming in or out. It was a bit crowded. Toothless tried to avoid hitting them.
"So, how long have you guys been here?"
"We've been here for three weeks." Midnight answered him over her shoulder.
"Three weeks!?" Toothless said, surprised.
"Yeah. We've been jumping from island to island. Escaping Grimmel and now Ivy."
"Don't you guys get tired of it?" Toothless asked, now walking beside her.
"We do. But we got to do what we got to do." Midnight said.
"I promise you the Hidden World is safe. You won't ever have to run away again. I bet Ivy doesn't know where the Hidden World is." Toothless said.
"I'll think about it. Oh look, we're here!" Midnight said as she turned her gaze to an empty cave. Inside was bare but with a few biolumeniscent crystals softly glowing the color light-blue.
"This is where you'll be staying." she told them.
Toothless and his family filed in, getting comfortable.
"Thank you Midnight." Toothless said.
"It was my pleasure. I'll see you all in the morning."
"I can't believe it! I found them. I found my family!" Toothless exclaimed.
"You sure did. But how are you going to convince them to go back with us?" Luna asked.
"Don't worry. Just leave that to me."
