Chapter 8

Toothless flew back to the Isle of Night. When he got there, he already saw dead bodies of Night Furies. No. I might be too late. But then he heard roars coming from the other side of the island. He ran inside the tunnels to find one that lead to the sound of the roars. He came out to see Ivy holding the Night Furies hostage.

"Ivy! Let them go!" he told her.

"Oh what?" Ivy said.

"Or I'll kill you." Toothless threatened.

"You kill me, I kill your family!" She gestured to Pago. Pago came out with with Luna and the NightLights.

"Luna!" Toothless said.

"We're fine Toothless." Luna assured him.

"Let them go. Let them all go." Toothless said.

"If I let them go, what would I get in return?" Ivy asked.

"You let them go and I'll..." Toothless looked at the Night Furies and then to Luna. He sighed. "I'll stand down as alpha."

"Perfect. Now, cage them in ice." Ivy told Pago.

Pago blew ice around the Furies, caging them.

"What! No! I told you to let them go!" Toothless said, baring his teeth.

"You're no longer alpha Night Fury! Now, as your alpha, I command you to be banished from this island!" Ivy said.

"Fine. As you wish." Toothless said. "But let me say good-bye to my family first."

"Fine. I don't care what you do. As long as you stay out of my way." Ivy told him as she watched Toothless walk over to Luna and the NightLights.

"Are you alright?" Toothless whispered to Luna.

"I am. But why did you do that? You could have controlled her." she said to him.

"I know but I'm not the type to kill. I'll find another way to get rid of her."

"Daddy, are you going away?" Pouncer asked him.

"For a little while but I'll be back." Toothless told his daughter.

"You better be back! Or else I'll kick that Death Fury's tail!" Dart said feircely.

Toothless chuckled. "Hopefully I can be back by then."

He looked back at Luna.

"You'll be okay here?"

"Yes. But how are you going to defeat Ivy?"

Toothless looked over Luna's shoulder to see Ivy sitting there, her tail slightly going up and down in impatience. She was glaring at Toothless, saying to get on with it.

He looked back at Luna again. "I don't know. I'll think of something."

He nuzzled Luna and then Dart, Ruffrunner, and Pouncer.

He walked to the edge of the island. He looked back to see the sad pleading yet hopeful faces of his family. With a determined look, he spread his wings and took off.
