A/N: This story takes place a day after Robin is found by Chrom and Lissa. Instead of coming across Lucina and Risen on their way home, they return to Ylisse without any issue and now go through day to day lives with the Shepards.
"Bored…so bored." The youngest sibling of the Ylissean royal family currently lay in her nightwear, with only her thin legs still resting upon her king-sized bed. The girl's upper body pressed flatly on the floor in a pose that left her staring at the plethora of fancy chandeliers on the ceiling.
Many may assume that being a princess would be filled to the brim with duties and or day-long ventures of spending their riches. Buying expensive jewelry or entrainment was never this teenager's cup of tea and the former may be true for a majority of royal families, but Lissa was an exception for that as well.
Her old sister being the Exalt of Ylisse, Emmeryn carried the brunt of political responsibility, constantly attending boring meetings and forcing interactions between pompous neighboring nobles. Then there was her older brother Chrom, whose preference leaned towards physical responsibilities that included daily missions with the Shepards— a volunteer task group led by the one and only second eldest prince. Lissa may have been a prominent member of the group when it came to names sake, but she never did feel useful in regards to skirmishes on the battlefield.
Having to be saved by your own brother while attempting to protect villagers on the battlefield didn't amount to much in terms of confidence in her physical prowess.
This left Lissa to find other ways to make use of her time whenever she wasn't out helping the Shepards. Of course, this proved a difficult task when you weren't allowed to go anywhere without the accompaniment of guards or at the very least Fredrick, who somehow found a way to walk perfectly normal despite the enormous stick constantly edged in his rear.
Yet that didn't mean the blonde laid around all day lazily like her current state of affairs. While it may not help her people, or anyone for that matter, she did find one source of entertainment at a very young age: pranks.
Playing a harmless prank and watching the shocked or embarrassed reactions of her friends and family was a greater treat than anything the Ylissean cooks could ever make! Not only was it fun to plan out evil schemes and watch them successfully play out, but it was also nice to spend time with those she cared about…even if they may not share her view of pranks being premier bonding experiences.
Unfortunately, Lissa's favorite pastime hit a snag as of late— she was running out of people to prank!
Chrom may have been her prime target for many years, but much like his sword fighting skills, his talent improved with experience. The talent in this scenario being the ability to sniff his sister's mischievous plans from a mile away. The man's natural ability to keep an eye out for all his surroundings protected him not only from enemies, but from pranks as well.
There could be a fifteen meter as to why the rest of the Shepards lost their pranking flavor as well. Frederick's reactions, or lack thereof, made it pointless to waste energy pranking him. Vaike was far too dense to realize when he was even being pranked…and don't even get her started on Kellam, she couldn't even find the knight in order to prank him!
Everyone in Ylisse was becoming immune to the girl's hysterical pranks. The only solution to this dilemma of Lissa dying of boredom was to find someone new who was susceptible to jokes. Someone genuine enough to fall for her fibs but also the containing the ability to produce the perfect lackluster reactions.
Thankfully a day previously, the princess's prayers were answered!
The tactician referred to himself as Robin and he was extremely intelligent on the battlefield. That and…well, that was about all that Lissa knew about the guy thanks to his lack of memory. What she did know was this though: Robin was a prime pranking target!
It was mostly the mage's flustered reaction to finding out about Chrom and her own lineage that tipped the mischievous blonde off to his appealing powers to be caught off guard so easily. Ever since then, Lissa's mind swirled about with ideas as to what she could do to introduce Robin to her innocuous pranks.
A bug in his pillow, dipping his hand in a bucket of water while he slept; all throughout dinner and the night before, Lissa pondered tame possibilities, but they were all far too generic. Without attempting anything that might scare the tactician off, she also wanted to start off this new relationship with a bang!
So Lissa decided to wing it today, her best work was improvised at times so why wouldn't it work now? Especially on unsuspecting prey!
"I wonder if he's awake yet." The princess finally got onto her feet and made her way across the wide room towards the sole, yet massive, window that allowed her to see directly outside the front of the castle.
It was as if Lissa used magic herself to guess at just the right time— Robin was just leaving the castle right now! The white haired man walked across the path towards Ylisstol with a basket in hand. If she had to guess, he must have offered to pick up ingredients for the castle's kitchen or something to that extent. He really was a nice guy after all.
Handsome too, although Lissa would never admit that to his face…or to anyone besides herself for that matter. The way Robin's pure white hair jostled slightly in the wind, the uneven strands signifying that he must have lazily combed it before going out today. The blonde giggled while that image played through her mind.
At least until the girl's mind flashed to her own hair.
"Gah!" Lissa gasped, running her pale hands through her locks to find it going wild with bed head. It was going to take forever to style her hair; having Emmeryn do her pigtails for her every morning really took her out of practice for days when Lissa decided to sleep in and was forced to take on her tangled strands all by herself. The maids would probably take even longer.
Looking down at her nightgown, Lissa groaned outwardly. "I better hurry or I'll miss him!" She warned herself, already looking for alternatives to get out of this castle as soon as possible!
Day 1: Pinching Prank
"Robin! Robin, wait up!" Robin's startled pause gave Lissa just enough time to catch up to him before he could disappear within the waves of citizens in the town's shopping market. Having rushed so hurriedly to see him, all the girl could do was rest her hands on her knees with heavy pants.
The tactician gave his friend a once-over from head to toe, raising an eyebrow curiously. "Lissa? What are you wearing?"
"Oh, this?" Lissa huffed, grateful for the opportunity to catch her breath.
Robin was of course referring to the thick jacket that sagged all the way to the ground, one that covered basically her entire body. Stealing the Robin's own style, Lissa wore a hood over her face. "I stole…er, borrowed this from Chrom, that's why it's so big on me. Sometimes I like walking around Ylissitol, but if I come out wearing my usual clothes then everyone will recognize me and there'll be a huge fuss. It's nice to blend in with the crowd sometimes, you know?"
While partly telling the truth, Lissa did hide the fact that she was also trying to hide her disheveled hair from the newly appointed Shepard. With her back partially exposed, her usual dress didn't really have anything she could use as a cover up, so raiding Chrom's room while he was out and about was really her only option.
"Oh, I see." Robin clearly had no qualms about the blonde's excuse; either that or he didn't bother pressing the subject any further. "I'm picking up some ingredients for the castle's kitchen, it was the least I could do with you all letting a stranger stay in your home."
Lissa was thankful the hood hid her smirk. Looks like her guess from earlier was right on the mark. "Oh nonsense, you don't owe us anything! Mind if I come along?"
"Can't say I know the village very well, so I definitely wouldn't mind the company of someone who grew up here."
Fish hooked; now all she had to do was reel him in!
The duo entered the crowd of people, making small talk, which Lissa only partly paid any attention to. For the most part, the girl was observing her surroundings to find some way to play a prank on her unsuspecting ally. It was a lot harder to come up with an idea on the spot when your entire environment was just a bunch of unknown faces!
Unless…
"Onions should be…here!" Robin exclaimed, his eyes turning towards a stall packed with dozens of people already fighting to buy their own fruits and vegetables. The two patiently made their way behind the erratic array of people.
Instead of viewing the large crowds as a stumbling block, Lissa figured she ought to use it to her advantage! A bulkier middle aged woman stood directly in front of them in the line; she was the perfect target. The blonde's plan was already formulating in a matter of seconds…got it!
Turning to her left, she noticed that Robin was preoccupied with a piece of paper he was holding in his hands. Based on the way he was muttering words to himself underneath his breath, that must've been a list of ingredients the cook wrote for him to pick up. If there was a best time to pull this prank, it would be now!
Leaning forward just enough to reach the lady in front of her, Lissa used her index finger and thumb to ever so lightly pinch the sizable bottom. The response was a significant one.
Barely able to snap her hand back in time and innocently leave both behind her back, the woman yelped and turned on her heels. The speed was actually impressive, albeit terrifying when mixed with the horrifying expression of fury the older woman wore.
At first the stranger made direct eye contact with Lissa, only to gloss over the teen and turn towards Robin, who had only just looked up from his list to see what the commotion was about.
"How dare you, young man!? You pervert!"
SLAAAAAP
The sound of palm impacting cheek was loud enough for Lissa to wince. After seeing the red handprint that was left on Robin's face, there was a bit of guilt for her instinctive action. That was certainly a possible result she should have considered, but there wasn't much point dwelling on it now that it was already over.
Besides, the male's absolutely bewildered face made the whole thing worth it. Lissa had to stick a part of her fist into her mouth to prevent herself from laughing hysterically right then and there!
"W-what are you talking about? Who are you?" The guy asked, resting a palm against his recently assaulted cheek.
The woman shook her her head. "I should be asking you the same thing! Who do you think you are, going around touching women like that? I assume I'm not your first victim!"
"Touching women? I-I have done no such thing! I believe you may have the wrong individual, I was just-"
Robin's explanation was interrupted with a sharp yank on his ear, the woman pulling his head towards the ground sharply. "Young man, I will not be hearing these excuses! I demand you take me to your mother so we can see what she thinks about this."
The guy brought his body as close as possible to the woman, most likely in an attempt to alleviate as much of the pain in his earlobe as possible. "Mother? E-excuse me, but I am not a child!"
"Is that so? Then I suppose I should bring this up with the guards for assault instead, shouldn't I?"
"Wait, wait!" Hearing the situation leaning into dangerous territory, Lissa finally spoke up. If it hadn't been for the scene in front of her gathering so much attention, someone may have assumed that the princess had been choking with the failed attempts to stifle her laughter this entire time. Her face was flushed slightly from holding back her chuckles, but she was still aware what she had to do.
"This is a friend of mine! I think you have the wrong person, he would never do anything so scandalous to a woman." Lissa lifted her hood, earning shocked gasped throughout the street immediately in response.
"That's Lissa, isn't it?"
"Her Highness is here?"
Whispers filled the street and the previously frustrated woman immediately let go of Robin. With her friend now safe from harm's way, Lissa immediately readjusted the hood to cover herself once more. While everyone may have been distracted by her presence in general, it was still quite embarrassing to reveal her bed head being a princess and all.
"I am so sorry your Highness, I did not realize he was a friend of yours. The real culprit must have gotten away."
After an overabundance of apologies, eventually the crowd enraptured by the incident dispersed, leaving Robin and Lissa to finish shopping in an awkward silence that was only filled by the bustling of the town and the girl's occasional fits of giggling whenever recalling the humorous events in her mind.
Robin however was not nearly as entertained by the situation. He made that clear once they finished collecting ingredients and were on their way back to the castle. "What degenerate could have framed me for that? I didn't see anybody pass by."
"Oh, did I forget to tell you?" Lissa was in as good of a mood as she ever has been, merrily skipping down the paved road. "That was totally me; she was way angrier than I expected, so sorry about the slap. It was still hilarious though!"
Robin halted right in his tracks, giving the blonde a blank stare. "It was…you?"
"Yup! She ought to have been grateful, I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate a pinch on the butt by royalty~"
"Why!?" Lissa toned down her cheeriness, only a little bit, after hearing Robin's outburst. "What motivated you to do such a thing?"
"Relax, Robin, it was just a harmless prank!"
The girl's casual attitude about the whole situation only frustrated the tactician either further. "Harmless prank? I could've gotten arrested. Not to mention I only just arrived here, it would be fairly simple to be infamously known as the village pervert!"
"I was right there the whole time just in case things went too far. Besides, Chrom and I can get rid of silly rumors easily. Don't worry so much about it, I'm sure everyone's forgotten already." Lissa reasoned. She really did try to stop grinning so much, but imagining Robin's flustered face made it an impossible task.
"Regardless, I still don't find the humor in framing an innocent bystander and humiliating them publicly."
Seeing the guy so genuinely upset, the Ylissean princess finally dropped her smile outright. "Okay, okay. I may have taken it too far for someone I just met not too long ago. I just figured your reaction was going to be hilarious, and it really was! You should've seen…!" Robin clearing his throat reminded Lissa that she was going off track. "…What I mean is I should've considered how you'd feel about it. I really am sorry, Robin."
Lower lip puckered in a pout and large eyes shining from tears that have yet to fall; it was a technique that only the youngest sibling of three could pull off. Robin's mask gradually broke further and further the longer he watched the cute display.
"Fine. As long as you don't do something like this again, then I forgive you. I…suppose I can understand how you found the idea amusing initially."
The white haired guy's forced smile made that statement hard to believe, but Lissa appreciate the sentiment anyways. "Deal. I won't pull this sort of prank ever again!"
While not having Robin furious at her was relieving, the two young adults were smiling for entirely different reasons. To put it lightly, Lissa was already planning out how to maneuver her next prank; how could she live the rest of her life normally knowing that her friend could make that hysterical expression?
Hence why the blonde chose the words of her promise with precision. There was only one thing she learned from this experience: as long as she kept all future pranks private, then Robin wouldn't mind…right?
Day 3: Frog Frenzy
Footsteps echoed down the empty grand hallways of the Ylissean castle."I'm positively stuffed. Really, the bear we ate the first night we met can't compare to supper at the castle."
"The food's that good, huh? Guess I've never noticed since I've been eating it my entire life." Lissa replied to Robin's assessment, walking beside him perkily on their way towards his room.
"You know, normally the ordinary man is supposed to walk the royal princess back to their room but I do appreciate the thought."
Lissa giggled softly at that. If only the mage knew her true intentions in regards to her offer to walk beside him for the night. She certainly wasn't known for acting like a lady and this was no exception. "You're nowhere near ordinary, Robin! Besides, this is no big deal. Just making sure you don't trip or anything on the way there; I know a stuffed belly can make it hard to walk right."
The duo shared a laugh, finally arriving to their destination— outside Robin's room.
It was difficult not to pull out some more pranks from her arsenal immediately, but the blonde made sure to give Robin a day's rest in order for him to let his guard down once more. His reaction would be far funnier that way after all!
The tactician gave his fellow Shepard a slight nod. "Well, I should get going to bed now. Good night, Lissa."
"Good night, Robin!" Before the guy could even consider opening the door to his room, Lissa wrapped her arms around him and squeezed tightly. Robin let out a small grunt, a blush immediately appearing across his face. The girl would probably feel a bit flustered herself at the feeling of her head pressed against the guy's chest, but her responsibilities were enough to distract her from her own forwardness.
Pretty soon the warmth of the hug would be the last thing on Robin's mind; at least that would be the case once he felt the slippery, slimy object pressing against his back. Any second now…
"Wah!"
The hug broke as quickly as it began, Robin's gasp followed by wild squirming and jostling that offered quite a show to the snickering Lissa.
After putting on a display that would make even the best dancers in the world turn green from jealously, the tactician was finally able to pull out an olive colored frog from inside his robes.
"Heehee! Oh man, somehow your reaction beat my exceptions again, which were already pretty high to begin with!"
Robin glared at the twin tailed teen, allowing the animal one final ribbit before plopping it down onto the floor. "I thought we agreed you would stop pranking me in exchange for my forgiveness, Lissa. What happened to 'I really am sorry'?"
"I was sorry and I didn't break my word!" The blonde raised both arms in the air innocently. "I promised not to pull that sort of prank ever again and I didn't. This one was way more tame and was only a one woman audience…and what a show it was, really!"
"Will I have to worry about loopholes for every conversation we have? I-" Robin began, only to pause. The man shook his head and pinched the bridge his nose in frustration. "You know what? I'm tired and frankly not in the mood to argue. We can deal with this tomorrow. Good night."
Leaving the conversation at that, Robin briskly turned on his heel and forced the door to his private quarters open.
"WAAAAA!"
Almost comically, the tactician opened the door only to be met with another frog bouncing directly at him. The man screamed about as femininely as a male could while landing directly on his bottom. Three more toads croaked from inside his room, two having found a comfortable position on his bed and the third resting on his small-clothes.
"Bahahaha! I-I can't breath! P-please stop making that face, it huuurrrrts!" Lissa had to lean against the wall for support, her other hand clutching her stomach tightly in an attempt to cope with the pain that her wild cackling caused. "Hahaha- owwww!"
Robin didn't say a word. He silently made his way back onto his feet, face red from both embarrassment and rage. The speeds he reached picking up the toads in his room and tossing them out in the hallway could rival even Chrom's on the battlefield.
It was the sound of the door slamming that finally snapped Lissa out of her giggling fit. Just like that, the girl found herself alone in the hallway with no company besides the croaking animals she had spent an hour gathering from the pond outside of town.
The prank itself was hilarious, Robin's reaction to it even greater. Yet Lissa didn't have the same joy that she had felt just a moment ago. Why was that?
It could have been the long of a journey she had coming in order to return these frogs to their proper homes or it could be a different matter entirely. Robin seemed really mad, didn't he? Even more than the previous time she played a prank on him.
Did…she go too far this time?
Day 6: Pegasus Problem
Three days have passed since Robin has spoken to Lissa in any sort of prolonged conversation that didn't include curt greetings or other short acknowledgments during meetings with the Shepards.
It really was a difficult past few days for the girl. She had only just met the tactician less than a week ago and yet she already missed talking and joking with him; whether it be playful banter or just a conversation about a miscellaneous topic.
It was actually ironic. In truth, part of Lissa's purpose behind her pranks was to spend more time with Robin. Sure she truly did enjoy the flabbergasted expression on the guy's face, but there weren't very many opportunities for them to spend time together. Chrom might as well have been engaged to the guy with how much time they spent during strategy meetings and on the battlefield as of late. Lissa never really had much to add during the meetings and she was always located towards the back during fights in part to her healing ability, while Robin fought with the more combatively inclined on the front line.
Now that she was receiving the silent treatment from her friend, pranks really were her only way of communication with Robin. Sure she could probably admit all of this to the male and rekindle their young friendship, however Lissa has always been better at pranks rather than heart-to-hearts with people she's only just met.
"This isn't another one of your pranks, is it?"
Lissa snapped out of her stupor to remember that the very man she was thinking about was right in front of her. Well she went looking for him after all, even if she wouldn't have been able to without the guise of her intentions being to prank him.
"Hm? Oh, of course not! Not even I could find a way to create a prank out of something like this, you know!" Lissa guilty rubbed the back of her neck, her other hand holding a heavy bag of feed. "Sumia really did ask for you to feed the Pegasuses. Something came up with Chrom so she's busy this morning."
"It's Pegasi."
Lissa huffed childishly at the 'Grammar Plegian'. "Pegasuses sounds better." She reached forward, handing the feed to him. "Anyway, just fill up their troughs and you should be all good."
Robin raised an eyebrow, examining the bag as if multiple frogs were going to pop out of it at any moment. Although a few seconds of silence must have convinced the guy that he could finally trust the princess. "Okay. Thanks, Lissa."
Once the white haired male accepted the feed and was officially out of sight, Lissa jumped into action. She had to beat him to the stables! Luckily there was a short-cut that only a Ylissean would know; the girl should have enough time to hide behind the stables with a perfect view in order to see her prank unfold!
Granted, it was difficult to run too quickly with her current state of clothing. Right now Lissa was wearing a loose white dress with yellow Coreopsis flowers scattered across the silk. Normally she preferred wearing her thicker yellow dress along with a pair of pants underneath, but there was an emotional connection with what she was wearing now.
Emmeryn passed down this dress to her to wear during some boring noble party she was forced to attend at a neighboring castle. Lissa didn't feel it looked nearly as good on her as her gorgeous sister, but Em was so insistent the teen keep it in her wardrobe afterwards that Lissa finally gave in.
Since her older sis was, well…far more blessed in terms of proportions, it was a little big on Lissa, but still reached down to her knees. Not being able to wear pants underneath it was another downside as the breeze against her bare legs was the literal definition of uncomfortable. Even then, the blonde did make it a habit of hers to occasionally wear this outside of the castle…plus it was fairly simple to put on with her being in a rush this morning after sleeping-in again. Wearing Chrom's clothes would only rouse suspicion from Robin so she opted for this instead.
Although the windy weather did constantly remind Lissa that she'd forgotten to put on tights underneath when getting dressed earlier…so had to be extremely careful when running around like this.
"He's not here yet." Lissa confirmed to herself in a hushed whisper once she arrived at the her destination. Currently she hid behind a wooden create that overlooked the stables across from her.
Here was the girl's devilish plan: Calypso is a stray Pegasus that the Shepards found a couple days before coming across Robin. Normally the magical beasts were tamed fairly quickly by Sumia, who had a certain touch with animals no one else in Ylisse could match. Yet the mistrust and violence in this Pegasus has proven even too much for her; it's attitude has forced the creature to stay off the battlefield and remain trapped in the stables for now.
Whether it be a bad experience with humans in the past or just a naughty streak in general, nearing Calypso's stall would spell disaster for anyone who tried it. Vaike learned this the hard way when they first met the Pegasus, stepping a little too close and receiving a wing to the noggin in response.
What a fantastic memory! Lissa spent the whole night of that incident giggling in her bed whenever she recalled the dazed warrior with his face planted in the dirt.
"Here you go, bud."
Lissa lowered herself further behind the crate at the sound of Robin's voice only a few feet away. Looks like he was here, and he had started feeding the Pegasi from the right stall to the left— saving the moment of truth for last!
The idea of Robin falling in a similar way Vaike had while also wearing that silly expression on his face was comedy gold! Lissa had to hold back snickering at what was soon to come. Oh, the if only he could just move a little faster already!
Really though. If Robin worked quicker, that would be a big help to the blonde. With each passing moment, unusual thoughts began to float in her mind.
Robin was extremely upset with her a few days ago, so much so that he stopped talking her for a good while. Would he hate her after this? Would he never trust her again? Could that mistrust translate to the battlefield as well, possible endangering the both of them? She was the Sherpard's healer after all, if Robin refused to go near her, the worst case scenario occur.
Was this even a good prank at all? Frogs were one thing, but this could cause the man physical pain. Could he get seriously injured? Calypso was a wild card, genuinely hurting someone she wasn't familiar with wasn't impossible. Just watching how gentle Robin was being with the other animals was proof enough that he didn't deserve that. How could she risk doing something so horrid to him solely for the sake of laughs?
These thoughts continued until Robin was only one stall away from Calypso, dumping the feed into the individual trough to the right of the distrusting beast. It felt as if Lissa saw the tactician's feet move towards the left in slow motion. It was then that she finally made her decision.
"Robin, wait! Don't!" Lissa shouted while jumping out from beneath her hiding spot. The blonde dashed towards her friend, tackling him with as much momentum as possible in an attempt to save him from whatever destiny awaited a close distance spar with Calypso.
There were two major problems with this tactic. Firstly, the girl's warning only startled Robin further, causing him to jump away from her and even closer to Calypso's stall. Secondly, Lissa didn't consider what direction she was coming from. Too intent on tackling Robin in general, she instead grappled him in a tight hug and pushed him towards the one area she was attempting to avoid.
"Oof!" Robin grunted, his back hitting the front of Calypso's stable with a heavy thud. Lissa only made matters worse by adding herself within battering range of the Pegasus. Now all the girl could do was helplessly glance up at the furious animal. Hot breath hit Lissa in the face; Calypso's snort was only a warning for what was about to come.
"Kyaaa-pfft!" Her scream interrupted by a mouthful of feathers, Lissa found a giant wing hitting her hard, sending the duo flying in opposite directions at the ground.
The Ylissean princess was able to keep herself on her feet for a few steps, but it didn't last long. Eventually the sheer force of her momentum caused Lissa to trip and fall into a roll. Eventually the girl found herself coming to a halt face first in the dirt, her butt raised high in the air in a similar pose to that of a worm mid-crawl.
It was ironic that Lissa mimicked the very same posture she'd spent so many days teasing Vaike about.
Yet there was something more noticeable than the dirt on her face and the aches in her body. That breeze. Instead of only feeling it beneath her knees, Lissa's entire lower half noticed the icy chill of the wind.
Oh no…her dress. The loose clothing had risen all the way up to the middle of her back during the fall!
Eyes widened in fear, Lissa turned her head in an attempt to find out where Robin landed. Her fears were confirmed; the male was directly behind her, having lucked out enough to land in a sitting position rather than a comedically unfortunate one like her own. And instead of looking literally anywhere else, the guy's own enlarged eyes were aimed directly at Lissa's elevated rear, his face colored a deep red. Her unmentionables were in full view of both Robin and the Pegasi behind him!
"Eep!" In one motion alone, Lissa swiftly flipped her dress down and sat on the ground, hugging her knees tightly to her chest. Her face slowly warmed until it matched the tomato red that still covered Robin's own cheeks.
Silence followed afterwards for what felt like forever. The duo were both staring off to the side, avoiding eye contact at all cost and making no attempt to converse. Both of them were still blushing like never before at the quick succession of incidents that just occurred. Although…maybe…
"Did…did you see anything?" Lissa whimpered, pessimistic with her chances but still holding onto any glimmer of hope.
Robin's response was immediate. "Huh? N-No, I swear I didn't see any pink- er…"
"Nnn…" Lissa groaned, plopping down on her back in defeat.
How humiliating! Having a boy seeing that much of her was a nightmare in itself, but if only she had more regal underwear on that befitted royalty at the very least; Robin no doubt thought of her as nothing but an immature child now! For some reason, knowing it was him who saw made the situation that much worse. Oh if only she could go back in time and let him get wing whipped on his own!
Her bedroom. A place guaranteeing privacy and no opportunities of embarrassment. A few days shut in there will do the job…or perhaps forever. Yes. Becoming a hermit and living in her room for the rest of her life was sounding more and more tempting by the minute.
Yet if she was to never see the outside world or Robin ever again, she might as well get everything off her chest now. "I'm…going to stop pranking you from now on."
"Good idea." Robin replied. He must have been as eager to continue a conversation as she was.
More time passed. Robin didn't make an attempt to get up and leave so there was really no excuse for Lissa not to admit what she's been keeping to herself the entire week now.
"Robin, I…I'm no good at strategy meetings. Or fighting. Those are two things my brother and you are great at. It's why you've become so close in such a short amount of time and I, well…I just wanted to hang out with you a little bit. I'm good at playing pranks so I figured I could use it as an excuse to spend time together. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings or embarrass you. I'm sorry. Please…please don't hate me"
Still staring off into space, Lissa felt Robin's eyes bore into her by the time she was finished. While it was tempting to continue ignoring his presence, the girl forced herself to turn her head and meet his gaze.
"Lissa. You're a good friend and a good person. I could never hate you." Those words alone lifted an enormous weight off Lissa's shoulders. She could probably jump for joy if she wasn't afraid of flashing the guy again. "Sure I was annoyed about the pranks, but nothing could break the friendships I formed the moment I met you and Chrom…you two more than likely saved my life. I will forever be in your gratitude no matter how many frogs you put in my robes." Robin added with a small smile, "That being said, you don't need to prank me to spend time together. Just let me know when you're free and I'm sure we can find something to do together in our free time."
"Ah…I-I see. Thank you, Robin." Lissa joined in on the smile; it was one of the first times she did so without it being at the tactician's expense. It felt nice.
At least up until the image of Robin seeing her in such a humiliating position popped into her head once more. "Well I have somewhere to be now! Talk to you later!" The princess hopped onto her feet and dusted off her dress as best as she could.
"Oh, right. See you at supper then, Lissa."
Those words alone caused the girl's heart to flutter in a way she's never experienced before. Supper, huh?
Perhaps the amnesiac man she found with her brother in the middle of nowhere might turn out to play a bigger part in her life than she ever expected.
Will that begin during supper tonight though? Likely not! Lissa had plenty of work to do in her room still; this included screaming in her pillow and reliving the humiliating moment earlier in her mind until she finally got over it.
Although she may spend some of that free time considering a different hobby as well, pranking anyone other than Robin feels like a moot point…however, giving up pranking entirely sounded like a difficult task. Perhaps she'll ease into breaking her habit rather than doing it all at once.
Robin wouldn't mind a couple more harmless pranks after all, right?
THE END
A/N: Thank you for reading! I really enjoyed writing this very much, I finished this in only a few days which is a very tough task for a slow writer such as myself. Fire Emblem: Awakening has a fantastic cast and Robbin/Lissa is one of my favorite ships. If responses are positive then I may turn this short story into multiple chapters about their gradual relationship. Although I may do one more chapter either way, we'll see.
I did my best to do my research about the game, however there may be a few errors or inconsistencies. Let me know if that is the case and I'll work on editing that.
