Garnet had come to visit the beach house and she had taken a spot on the couch. She was sitting in the meditation position with her eyes closed, quiet and motionless. Her mind was in a red and blue abyss between Ruby and Sapphire. They were laying side by side holding hands.
They had been wondering what they should do while they waited for everyone else to return. White Pearl, Amethyst, Soren, Pink Pearl, Peridot and Jewel were busy in the kitchen having fun. They decided to finish up their food and head outside for an afternoon picnic while Garnet stayed on the couch.
Ruby hummed for a little bit making Sapphire smile.
"I was wondering," Ruby said with a thoughtful look on her face, "Would you like to go on a date? It's been a while since we had done one."
"I thought you might say that," Sapphire said with a smile, "I would love too."
"Would you like to unfuse and decide where we could go?" Ruby asked shyly.
"I think we can do that."
The two of them took some time to get ready by themselves before they called out to each other while they still were formed as Garnet.
"Are you ready?" Sapphire called out to her.
"You know I am."
Sapphire giggled.
A bright light filled the beach house and Garnet separated. Ruby and Sapphire stood there looking at each other like it was the first time all over again. They both blushed and ice formed around Sapphire's feet. The two of them had formed into cute sun dresses. Ruby took her hand and kissed it.
"Oh, are you two going out?" White Pearl asked with a smile as she leaned on the banister.
"Yes we are," Sapphire answered, "We will be back in a little while."
White Pearl nodded and smiled.
"We all heard you talking," she said with a giggle.
"Have a great date," Amethyst called and waved to them from the beach below.
Ruby and Sapphire waved good bye to the others and made their way to town.
"So, where is this place?" Ruby asked with a smile.
Sapphire tapped her lips and she zoned out for a minute. Ruby already knew she was using her future vision to find the place.
"Oh, I know where it's at!" Sapphire said flashing Ruby a big grin, "Follow me!"
Sapphire started talking the lead as they made their way through town. It seemed rather busier than a normal day with people going into shops and eating at small concession stands here and there. The bright blue sky was starting to get clouds and it began blocking the sun every few minutes but it was beautiful.
They stopped for a few minutes to just enjoy the sight before them.
"I always remember the way the sky looked a long time ago and we see it all the time but it never ceases to amaze me," Sapphire said, "Earth is truly a beautiful place."
"The sight I see if pretty beautiful itself."
Sapphire tore her eyes from the sky to see Ruby smiling at her. She began giggling.
"I love you, Ruby."
"I love you, Sapphire," she whispered and gave her blue girlfriend a kiss.
Soon they reached their destination. The restaurant was named Double Decker since it was a two floor building. It had a large porch and veranda for those who wanted to eat outside. The two of them smiled happily at each other and headed inside. They looked around to see the place was pretty calm and the chatter.
"Welcome ladies! Where would you like to be seated?" the host asked.
"The veranda upstairs," Ruby answered.
"Alright! Right this way please!"
The host led them upstairs and to the place they were going to be seated for their stay. Ruby and Sapphire only had to wait a few minutes for the waiter to come along. They decided on their soft drinks and then order a small appetizer. Once he left, they looked downward at the tablets on their tables.
"Look at all the games! Peridot and Steven would love these," Ruby said.
Sapphire giggled and nodded, "They sure would. Do you know what you want already?"
She held up her menu and Ruby blushed, "I forgot to even look. I saw the tablet and was excited to play some of the games."
The blue gem smiled and looked down at her menu.
"I see what I want."
Sapphire looked mildly surprised.
"That was fast."
Within two minutes she ended up picking out what she wanted too.
"Here's your drinks and appetizer."
The waiter sat down two extra plates. He placed the drinks down and two straws and opened up his small note pad to take their order.
"Wanna play chess?" Sapphire asked.
Ruby gave her a sly look, "Sure but don't spoil the game for me. I want to find out who wins."
The rare gem giggled again and they began their game.
"You know," Sapphire said after a few minutes, "The time we've spent here on Earth has been worth it."
Ruby looked up from her tablet.
"I'm glad that you saved me that day. Even if things didn't look good at the beginning it turned out for the best."
Ruby nodded smiling thinking back fondly.
"It was the scariest moment of my life but... To spend that time with you and learning to be Garnet, I couldn't ask for anything better than that."
"I hope we can all stay together on Earth. I don't think I would ever want to leave to live anywhere else."
They became quiet for a few minutes playing their game when Ruby spoke up again.
"I really like White Pearl. She's really nice."
Sapphire looked upward towards her girlfriend with a smile, "She is. She's really intelligent. I'm glad she's fitting in. I know it's hard for all of us to transition from being under the Diamond Authority."
"Yea. We are used to it already but she's still new. She seems to be enjoying her new life here thought," Ruby said.
"She's really fond of Garnet with us being a fusion. It took Peridot a while to be ok with it thought. White Pearl doesn't seem to mind. "
"You know... I think we should hang out with her again," Ruby said, "As Garnet."
"I think that sounds like a great idea!" Sapphire said enthusiastically.
"Hello ladies."
The waiter returned with their food. He sat down the ghost pepper burger with fries and onions rings in front of Ruby and the mushroom swiss burger with the same sides in front of Sapphire. As soon as the waiter left their table to refill their drinks, Ruby and Sapphire dug in. They laughed and had small talk through their dinner date. Once they finished, they got their bill and paid for everything before heading out.
It was nearing evening time and the air started to become cooler. The waves crashed onto the beach and a few crabs were seen walking on the beach. Ruby picked one up and showed it to Sapphire. It stared at her before clicking it's claws making her giggle. Ruby replaced the little, red crab into the sand and they returned to walking home.
The beach house lights were on and they saw the screen door was open to let the cool air blow in. The made it up the porch and inside the house. Steven, Lapis, Blue Pearl, Pearl, Yellow Pearl and Onyx had returned home. Everyone greeted them with happy faces and waves.
"I see your mission was a success. Did you make it back without problems?" Sapphire asked.
"We got the Corruption," Lapis said with a smile.
"We had a few problems but it wasn't anything too big," Pearl said sitting in between her two lovers.
"We bubbled it and it's safely in the Temple now," Onyx said.
"How was your date?" White Pearl asked with a smile.
"They told us you guys had left an hour or so before we came back," Steven said, "Did you have fun?"
Ruby and Sapphire went into about the walk there and how good the food was at Double Decker. They talked about how nice the people were and how nice the day was. Once they finished talking to everyone they went into their room alone in the Temple. Once they were in their room, they jumped onto the bed with excitement.
They began removing each others clothes, scattering them onto the floor. It had been a long time since they had been separated to be with each other, it was like the first time all over again. Soon, passionate kissing followed while they were in each other's embrace. The two of them were just a tangle of limbs.
Their room became icy and hot at the same time as they made love. The things they felt were intense causing the bed to ice up a little and water to drip onto the floor. Once they both climaxed, they were covered in water and each other's kisses from before. They laid beside of each panting with happy faces on their faces.
Sapphire grabbed Ruby's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.
"I love you," Ruby whispered and gave her another kiss.
"I love you too."
They held each other as they fell asleep.
