It looked like a regular island to them all. The Crystal Gems walked off of the warp pad almost a minute ago entering an opening before it headed into the jungle like area. They glanced at each other but no one said a word. They took in the beautiful scenery around when some wind blew in, blowing the tree tops.
Just as they walked a little further, Jewel looked to the side to see the grass moving a little bit. She squinted like she was wasn't sure if she had seen right but it had stopped quickly. Of course there was wildlife there so she ignored it and kept on going. She stopped behind her mother and father with Peridot at her side.
"Yellow Pearl, Pearl and I believe this was some sort of hidden base. We noticed a lot of weird and unusual signals coming from this island. It was way back when the Diamonds were on Earth when it was created."
"I believe the gems that occupied Earth at that point had created it to stay safe from danger. They had hid in here when the Diamonds left the planet and tried corrupting everyone. We are unsure if it saved them or not."
"Oh," Lapis said.
"They just didn't know how to leave anyone alone," Amethyst said.
"They do now," Pearl said with a smile, "Just remember... We did fix things."
Pink Pearl nodded.
"What's that?" Soren asked pointing ahead.
The area looked dark and uninviting. Pearl and Garnet peered downward to see it was actually stairs. Steven clung to Blue Pearl and Lapis as they got closer.
"That just seems so... weird," Steven said looking at it.
"Let's use our gems then," White Pearl said with a smile.
Everyone lit up before heading down the stairs carefully. Peridot glanced around when she thought she saw something move around in the trees but Jewel grabbed her hand and pulled her down into the dark stairway. She ignored the thoughts and they headed down ward. The others stopped and looked around before proceeding just in case.
Pearl touched the wall by accident when it lit up. Everyone jumped slightly since they weren't expecting it.
"Look!"
They all turned to where he was pointing.
"It looks like the Temple door back at home."
"Oh, it does," Blue Pearl said.
Pearl glanced at Onyx with a concerned look on her face.
"Let's go but be careful everyone," Pearl warned, "It's dark and we don't know what's down here."
Once everyone walked through, they were face with a three way tunnel.
"I think we are going to have to split up," Onyx suggested.
Amethyst groaned. Pearl gave her a sympathetic smile.
"I'm sure everything will be fine."
The memory of facing the giant eyeball corruption flooded their thoughts quickly since that was the last time they had to split up. No one blamed her because some of them were thinking the same thing.
Team One consisted of Pearl, Yellow Pearl, Onyx and Garnet.
Team Two was Jewel, Peridot, Steven, Lapis and Blue Pearl.
Team Three was Soren, Amethyst, Pink Pearl and White Pearl.
Jewel, Peridot, Steven, Lapis and Blue Pearl walked into the middle tunnel. Once they started through, Peridot started looking around nervously. She wasn't sure where the feeling was coming from but it made her feel weird. She felt anxious and suspicious of any unusual sound going on around them.
"Are you ok? Is there something wrong?"
The other three slowed down to a stop and looked at her.
"No I'm not."
"What is it?" Jewel asked.
"I... I feel like we are being watched."
"I felt like that before getting closer to the tunnel..." Steven admitted looking worried, "I thought maybe I was imagining things..."
Jewel picked Peridot up.
"Let's get out of here then."
They started walking a little faster. Jewel was beginning to feel paranoid too. They stopped for a second.
"What the-" Lapis had started but then a weird slap was heard.
Jewel broke off into a sprint like her life depended on it. The other three raced behind her, panic filling their minds. Some weird sounds were heard louder. It was disembodied gargling and some crazy like laughter. Maniacal giggling and something hitting the ground in weird slaps. No one dared to turn around to see what was chasing them- they just needed to get out of that tunnel.
They made it out of the tunnel. Suddenly, it felt like they were falling. The rocks all started falling underneath their feet and they all screamed until they hit the ground. They looked upward to see the sky and trees surrounding the opening. Peridot rubbed her bottom when they heard more screaming. They felt cold suddenly- terrified of what might be coming.
Instead Soren, Amethyst, Pink Pearl and White Pearl came falling from another tunnel. Soon after there were more screaming with Pearl, Onyx, Yellow Pearl and Garnet falling out of the sky it looked like. Everyone stood up trying to gather themselves from the fall. It seemed like everybody was back together again.
"Is everyone here?" Pearl asked looking around.
"I think so."
"Were you guys running from some weird noises too?" Steven asked.
Everyone nodded when they heard those creepy and strange noises again. It was coming from the tunnels above them when something started peeking out of the tunnels.
"What are those?!" Pink Pearl yelled.
They were small fuzzy black balls of darkness. It made Pearl wonder if the reason the stairway was so dark was because they were covering the strangest thing was the eyes. They came in colors of yellow, blue, red, green, orange and purple. It seemed so strange that something like that was making those weird, horrific noises.
They all drew their weapons ready for a fight. They stepped forward when the little corrupted monsters started moving but they walked right past them. The Crystal Gems looked at each other in confusion. They flowed together like a river to the large area in the center of the floor.
Pearl and the others walked towards it to see a giant black pit. Steven swallowed hard as he looked down in wondering what was going on just like everyone else.
"They don't have gems on their bodies," Garnet said.
"What?" Pearl asked thinking she didn't hear right.
"Pearl-
"Look out!" Amethyst yelled.
A giant black hand emerged looking like it was black void. The tiny gemless corruptions had created that monstrous hand making the Crystal Gems back up. They had no idea what it was planning on doing but the situation didn't look good for them. Suddenly six colored eyes opened up, staring down at them, blinking.
"Attack!" Pearl cried.
No one hesitated to go towards them with their weapons drawn.
The area filled up fire and blasts. Even slicing through the monsters didn't seem productive in any way. The Crystal Gems were beginning to looked frustrated and Pearl didn't blame any of them. The hand with eyes stopped in it's tracks and made a weird shaking movement and it shuddered violently.
The giant hand suddenly split off. The yellow eyes appeared taking shape of a wasp. The red eyes formed into a big, black snake. The blue eyes formed into a bird. The orange eyes changed into a weird looking lizard. The green eyes formed into a horned, black frog. The purple eyes took shape as a black widow spider.
White Pearl and Garnet jumped in with Jewel and Peridot taking down the purple eyed spider first. Much to their surprise, it poofed without issue. Pearl, Onyx and Yellow Pearl went after the blue eyed bird. It had tried to escape but it was taken out by their flying spears. Steven, Lapis and Blue Pearl managed to take out the lizard and the red eyed snake.
Amethyst and Pink Pearl took out the frog while Soren finished off the wasp. The tiny creatures that had been residing on the outskirts of the battle area disappeared like smoke. Six gems laid out on the ground. Jewel, Pearl, Blue Pearl, Yellow Pearl, Pink Pearl and White Pearl bubbled the gems and sent them off to the Temple to be safe. No one spoke another word as they left the place, exiting through the hole above them.
