Hello to everyone who's still following! I know I literally just dropped off the face of the planet for a while but for good reason! I ended up having to deal with a lot of crap overall since I was still working overnight at that time then I switched to daytime. Then the whole covid crap hit. I managed to make a trip back home for the first time in 11 yrs.
Then school was out. I caught covid in Oct 2020 and much to my amazement- I ended up pregnant! My husband and I found out we were expecting our first child together of dec that yr when we weren't sure we could have kids together! My pregnancy was draining and I ended finding out I had a few issues and at one point wasn't sure if my son was going to make it. We made it though! He's almost 9 months now and I adore him !
Anyways! Enjoy the chapter after a long hiatus!
Steven sat there staring out the window of his bedroom, wondering and thinking really hard. He wanted to take Lapis and Blue Pearl somewhere but they had done a lot together and it was hard to find something they hadn't done before. It was the downfall of being alive for a long time and he wanted to show them a good time.
He let out a sigh and turned on the TV. Maybe if he numbed his brain for a little bit, it would come to him. He decided to channel surf instead of torture himself thinking. There were cartoons on and a few movies- one of them horror but that really wasn't his cup of tea. Just as he was about to give up, he stopped on a channel with a commercial playing.
It starts flashing with the words Laser Loyals across the screen with a bright green and orange stars in the background. Apparently it was a place that had been booming all over the country with it's rival company having an arcade, a dining area and of course the best part- Laser Tag! Much to Steven's luck it was located on the outskirts of Beach City with a great discount for it's grand open in their area.
Steven smiled brightly at the commercial before jumping up in excitement.
That's where I'll take them! We've never done that before and it sounds so fun!
Steven ran downstairs and outside to find his two blue gems sitting in the sand watching the water lap onto the beach.
"Lapis! Blue Pearl!"
The two of them turned around to see the elated look on Steven's face.
"What's up Steven?" Lapis asked with a small smile.
"I have a great idea!"
"Let us hear then," Blue Pearl said with a soft giggle.
"There's a new place opening up later today I want to take the two of you to! Let's get ready!"
"Alright," Lapis said before standing up.
She helped Blue Pearl to her feet and the three of them held hands, racing back to the beach house in an excited rush.
It only took the three of them a short time before they were finished getting ready. Lapis and Blue Pearl couldn't help but hurry up thanks to the eagerness Steven was radiating off. Steven usually was always happy anyways but he seemed extra excited this time around and it was really nice to see after all!
The three of them walked along the side of the road and the sidewalks when there was some. Lapis kept up her long strides while Blue Pearl skipped along. Steven lead them in the front walking quickly.
In the distance a blue building could be seen with the name Laser Loyals on the front.
"Come on!" he yelled, walking much faster now.
The other two jogged to keep up with him until they managed to match his fast walking pace.
"This is Laser Loyals! I just saw it on TV. You can eat here, play games and they have laser tag! I know we never did that before so I thought why not! What do you think?"
"It's so blue!" Lapis commented.
The building was a royal blue and the door itself was darker blue. Laser Loyals was in a bright blue neon color at the top of the building's face.
"It looks like a bright star!" Blue Pearl said softly in awe.
"Awesome! I'm glad you two approve! Are you ready to go inside?"
The two blue gems nodded happily. They followed Steven inside when he motioned for them to follow him. They were happy to do some and they entered the sky colored building.
Much to their surprise, it wasn't busy yet for just opening but that was perfect for them.
Steven paid the lady behind the counter for them all to play in the laser tag.
"There's already a game going on but you guys can play next ok? The laser tag attendant will let you know," the lady said, "You can enjoy the arcade or the dining area until they're ready for you!"
"Thank you so much!"
Steven ordered a burger and fries, Lapis got chicken strips and curly fries and Blue Pearl got a coney dog with mozzarella cheese sticks. They ate happily and chatted away until their food and drinks were gone. They finished and sat for about ten more minutes, waiting anxiously for their turn.
"The next game for Steven's party is ready. Steven's party, your game of laser tag is ready!" said the disembodied voice.
"Yay! It's our turn!" Steven cried, jumping up.
The three of them headed to the laser tag area. Once they entered, Steven pointed to the bright blue and black vests.
"We have to put those on and then the opposing team will have a different color."
"That makes sense!" Blue Pearl said.
"We'll have to earn points to win! You aim at the targets on the vest!"
"Alrighty. So do we go in there now?" Lapis asked, pointing to where other people were gathered.
"Yup! Let's go!"
They sat down and watched a tutorial on what to do. The basics of how to play, the rules as well as keeping a decent bit of distance from their opponents. The one given rule was no food or drink- it made a lot of sense. Overall, they needed to just enjoy the game and have lots of fun.
With that, everyone's vests changed color. Steven, Blue Pearl and Lapis were bright blue while the other team was a deep shade of green,
The two teams went into their teams' entrance by their colors and got into places. The buzzer sounded off and everyone started moving with excitement throughout the area.
Thanks to Steven being much shorter than some of them, he managed to hide in several places before popping off earning points for his team. Almost once he shot at Blue Pearl but he stopped himself and flashed her an apologetic smile.
She laughed and took off quickly to hide away and wait for her next target.
Lapis on the second floor of the arena was able to shoot their the floor thanks to the solid platforms and the gaps that were just big enough for the laser to go through. Unfortunately this left her wide open at certain angles and someone got her twice but she earned more points than what they got off of her.
Thanks to Blue Pearl having light steps, she managed to sneak past several of the other team way more than once. She managed to accumulate more points than Steven and Lapis thanks to her quick, quiet foot work.
It was little touch and go for awhile but in the end, they won by three points by the end. The two teams congratulated each other for their game time gathered their tickets for playing. The three of them headed to the prize counter for some prizes for themselves and each other. They were very happy with their haul of prizes and decided to leave with happy faces.
The three of them chatted some of the way back home with Steven carrying their bag of stuff they won. For the rest of the walk after their tiring and exciting date, Lapis gave them a ride home through the sky itself The sky was starting to streak in colors of pink, orange and red as the sun was setting when they got home finally, giving the end of their date a beautiful ending with a the striking sunset.
Lapis placed them on the soft sand before landing herself. The three of them stood in the cooling sand just watching the water.
"I had a lot of fun today, Steven," Blue Pearl said quietly.
"Me too," Lapis said with a bright grin.
"I'm glad you both did."
They enclosed the space between them and Steven, placing a kiss on either side of his cheek making him blush.
