A.N. hello! I decided to translate the story into English with the help of my faithful google translator friend. It probably has some spelling mistakes but it will not prevent me from translating it and my story can be read to the ends of the earth. I appreciate any review that you can leave me, I will translate the story little by little until it reaches the original version in Spanish, we read. You can find me on twitter and instagram as thadumpship to see my KND drawings and other cartoons, I am also on tumblr.
Edit 23/12/21 I fix the dialogue in this chapter. Also I want to say that I watched the KND Latam version so if I being some Ooc sorry, it was the dub.
The best time of the year had already begun, summer was felt in the air and especially in the hearts of children and teenagers, who were the ones who enjoyed it the most, but in the present circumstances, everything seemed to go against enjoying their last summer with their friends before they all started a new high school.
Things in the group were not looking very good. Nigel had gone to a camp, this being forced by his father with the excuse that he had to live new experiences and that he would not have them if he kept locked up in his tree house with his own childhood group . Although it all sounded very bad to Nigel, he ended up agreeing to go since the brochures did not look so bad, he hoped that the camp was all that was raised in that paper or he would make sure to sue them for misleading advertising.
Abby on the other hand, was more than happy on her family trip to Hawaii, it was a gift her father gave them before Cree left for college in California and was distant from the family for a few years, except for the holidays that she promised to return without fail. She left overnight, Kuki and Nigel barely had time to say goodbye to her at the airport properly.
For Hoagie things were fine or at least as long as Abby continued on that trip she would not have to deal with unfinished business, he himself had enrolled in a robotics summer course in the city and that was consuming a lot of time, he was really excited and a couple of months ago, he started dating a girl from school. This clearly created discontent in Abby and so she pushed the family trip because they still had doubts about doing it due to her dad's job as a doctor in the hospital but since Mr. Lincoln had accumulated vacations, the hospital administration had no problem granting them. Of course Cree benefited the most from this, she really dreamed of that trip and Abby wanted to put distance from Hoagie for now, she was upset but she didn't want to admit it to him or the rest of her friends.
And Wally, well Wally wasn't sure what was going on at his house, his life and his summer vacation. Everything happened normal in the natural course of things, he went out with Hoagie when his girlfriend was not on top of his friend, sometimes Kuki joined them, which did not bother him as long as he did not get intense in the issues of girls. But now, things have gotten a little crazy.
"This will be your room, dear, it is not very big but it has its own bathroom and so you will have all the privacy that a girl of your age needs" Mrs. Beatles smiled at Kuki as she helped him to accommodate his luggage in the guest room of his house.
"Thank you very much Mrs. Beetles, I really appreciate you helping my parents in this situation" the girl responded cordially.
Basically this had happened in the life of Wallabee Beatles, his friend and possible secret love, Kuki Sanban, would be living in her house for a week while her parents had to go to Japan to fix an important family matter. Kuki could not accompany them because his passport had printing problems and his parents did not correct it soon because they believed that it wouldn't be needed for the moment but they gave it so much time that in the end they forgot to go to the office to fix it and then they had no choice another to ask the Beatles to take care of their daughter for the duration of her trip.
"I know that Kuki is your friend and you will have no problem making her feel comfortable here" her mother smiled at her when she informed him of the news.
"After she didn't touch my things" was the only answer the blonde could give.
What else could he say? Refusing was not an option, his parents had already made the decision. It is true that perhaps in the depths of his being he was fine with the situation, he had not had the opportunity to see Kuki as much as he wanted, with everyone away and the tree house, or as he liked to say "meeting point", she was off duty with Nigel out, it was a little difficult to see her, that added to the fact that Hoagie was not always available for the three of them to leave.
"Kuki went out with us once and nothing happened, Alice is not so jealous" Hoagie told his friend once the two of them went out alone.
"I really don't want to get involved" he replied.
"The four of us could even go out, you know, like a double date" of course for Hoagie it was an excellent idea but for his friend it seems like not.
"Don't even think about mentioning it again" he took a sip of his drink and then changed the subject so they wouldn't keep talking about the girl.
He didn't want to go through that again, Hoagie and Abby pressuring him to confess his feelings to Kuki last summer. Why couldn't they get into his business? If it is assumed that they called him a blind man and Kuki also for not realizing what was "obvious", the true is two of them were blind. Don't you realize that Abby left because of her? But he didn't want to argue with them about it. If he wanted them to leave him alone with his love affairs, he should also do the same and leave them alone.
Surely now he was not noticeable with the divided group but he was sure that when everyone returned to school to start their new school year the tension would increase. Hoagie and Alice were sure to sit together with them at lunch and he was pretty sure Abby would make excuses not to be with them. Just thinking about it gave him a headache, he loved his friends even though he never said it openly but he didn't like unnecessary dramas, that was to Kuki's liking, he liked those romantic novels and movies that even his mother watched, a lot of drama .
"If I go to the supermarket now, it won't give me time to complete dinner" Mrs. Beatles spoke to herself. Kuki heard her.
"Do you need help with shopping, Mrs. Beetles?" The girl asked kindly.
"I do not want to bother you, you are my guest" Mrs. Beetles was happy with the presence of Kuki in her house. She had two wonderful children but she always imagined that she could have a daughter to take care of.
"It is not a bother, my mother sends me to do small purchases too and I help her sometimes in her kitchen" she smiled as was always characteristic of her.
"Okay, I'll accept if Wally accompanies you" She went to her room to call her son. Within minutes they both appeared in the kitchen.
"Let's go before I change my mind" Wally said to his friend.
Mrs. Beatles gave Wally the shopping money and the list of things she needed to Kuki, she waved them off at the door and returned to the kitchen. Both teenagers walked silently down the street. Kuki walked briskly with little jumps from time to time and Wally just walked with her hands in his pockets.
"Have you talked to Abby?" Kuki asked suddenly.
"No" he answered.
"Have you gone out with Hoagie these days?" Kuki asked, trying to have a conversation with him.
"No" he answered again.
"We can go to the movies tomorrow with him and his girlfriend. I was thinking about that new movie about dangerous cars and races, it's not my style, you know I prefer romantic or animated films but yes…"
"No, I don't want to" he interrupted, looking at her with a frown. He was clearly upset but even he didn't know why.
"Come on, it'll be fun" she said, clasping her hands. "Don't be so boring, Wally, you'll get wrinkles quickly if you keep putting your eyebrows together like that" She laughed and tried to imitate him. "Look at your face now" she laughed again.
"An action movie? You don't like those things, you only see girlish things" he crossed her arms.
"Girls movies are not boring, on the contrary, there is also action, suspense, drama and magic and many great things" she commented excitedly "But I know you prefer other types of films. We can see it, I'm sure you have no plans for tomorrow"
"Why so much interest in dating Hoagie and his girlfriend?"
"It's that…" she stopped and looked down "I really miss going out with you, I mean all five again, but for now there are not all, and I want to enjoy the rest of the summer with my friends, high school will start soon and not we've done nothing fun" she explained.
"You would have gone to the camp with your sister, I am sure that there is the fun you are looking for" he kept walking and stopped because the girl stopped walking beside him, he had stayed behind with that sad look, if he did not know her well say it's one of his manipulation tactics, girls really know how to be dangerous.
"Hey, don't stay there, my mom is waiting for us" she yelled to him to move forward but she still did not move, then she gave a long sigh "Okay, I'm going to go, now move" he spoke reluctantly.
Kuki was used to being short-tempered and Wally's attitude, speaking to her like that, failed to affect her most of the time. She looked at him and gave him a smile and continued walking to carry out Wally's mom's errand.
The boy felt a strange sensation in his chest and he just kept walking trying to ignore the fact that Kuki was looking at him, that he was alone with her, that they went shopping together as if they were a couple, although clearly they were not, and the fact that Kuki was at his house. He hadn't stopped to think about it, but she was there keeping him company, even sleeping in separate rooms. Perhaps the situation was not all bad.
They went shopping talking about different things they found at the supermarket, such as that Kuki loved soy sauce, that Wally preferred to buy bags of curly potato chips instead of traditional ones, and that they both liked the same cereal for breakfast on the days when they got up late. Wally paid for the purchases and carried them home, leaving Kuki only with a lollipop that she ate very lively.
Kuki had dinner that night with Wally, Joey and Mrs. Beatles, it felt like being at home, a warm and loving family, of course he missed his parents, at first she felt a bit bad with his parents' quick departure to Japan but she was grateful that they left her with Wally, because he was her friend and she had to admit she missed seeing him and spending time with him.
"Good night Kuki" Wally said before entering his room.
"Rest Wally" she replied as he walked down the hall to enter the guest room that had been set aside for her.
Once Kuki entered the room, she searched inside her bag and found what she was looking for, her cell phone. The screen lit up when I pressed the button in the center and I looked through her contacts for Abby's name to call her.
"Hello babe" answered her friend on the other side when she answered.
"Abby, Hi, I thought you wouldn't answer me" she sat on the bed to continue the conversation.
"Sorry, I've been doing a lot of things here, coming to Hawaii has been one of the best things that ever happened to me" Abby commented.
"It's good that you are having fun, I have many things to tell you" she proceeded to give him a summary of her last two days.
"Are you really sleeping with Wally?" asked her friend, somewhat scared.
"What? No" Kuki exhaled "I'm staying in a room by myself, he sleeps in his room and Joey must already be asleep, he is in front of where I am" she explain.
"So if you talk to me on the phone, are you sure he's not spying on you?" She asked.
"No, I don't think he's that kind of guy" she laughed just thinking about it. "There's a bathroom next to me, I don't think he's listening to me unless he's really outside my door trying to hear me" she laughed again.
"I suppose he's a good boy, not like others" she blurted out without thinking about it.
"Do you say it for Hoagie? You know, we haven't discussed that matter well, it all seems confusing to me and… " She couldn't finish because Abby spoke almost immediately.
"There's no need to talk" she interrupted.
"When you come back I think it would be appropriate for us to talk about that matter" she sighed she "I know you don't want to talk about it but believe me it would help you a lot, trust me"
"Says the girl that doesn't want to admit her love for a certain boy" Abby said, causing Kuki to blush.
"Speaking of him, maybe the four of us will go out tomorrow, Wally agreed to go to the movies"
"What do you think of Alice?" Abby dared to ask but she immediately retracted "Forget it, I shouldn't have asked"
"Alright Abby" replied the girl, she did not want to inquire into the matter more than anything so as not to bother her being so far away.
They kept talking for about 20 minutes until Abby had to hang up as she was already running late because of the time difference and she had to sleep because she would have an early morning expedition.
There were moments where Wally could hear Kuki laugh and certain murmurs but nothing clear to know what she was talking about or who he was talking to although he did not have to think about it too much, she was probably talking to his mother on the phone or with Abby. He took his cell phone and texted his friend Hoagie.
"I don't know what you plan but I'll go with you and Kuki to the movies tomorrow"
Within minutes he received an answer.
"Alice will also go in case Kuki didn't tell you, thank you, I owe you one"
"Yes of course" he spoke to himself and settled down to go to sleep and the last thing he thought about was Kuki smiling at him in the afternoon.
