I think this is how the other bad batchers would deal with Echo's trauma. Enjoy.
Echo looks around the room. He'd joined the batch only two days ago, so it was the first time seeing his new batch's "home". Wrecker pushes past him and scratches some marks into the wall, "ha! More success and we got a new teammate to boot!" he smiles at Echo and wanders over to his bed. He picks up a toy and happily shakes it.
Some of Tech's stuff had wandered from his makeshift desk to the dining table. He looks down to see the floor littered with wrappers and doodads. Something stank and the walls had wires pulled out, most likely Tech's doing.
Crosshair heads straight to his bed and takes a nap. Echo walks over to Tech who was working on a project. He taps on his shoulder, "why does the room smell?"
Tech gestures to the room, "random food particles, burnt wiring, cleaning supplies, and general body odor, mostly Wrecker's."
"hey!" Wrecker complains, "I shower more often than you do."
"true, but your size and exercise regimen means you have a higher sweat concentration."
"you wouldn't shower at all if we didn't make you."
"that's not true."
"yeah it is!"
Echo facepalms, sorry he asked. Crosshair throws a small ball and it bounces off Tech's head to hit Wrecker in the face. It ended the argument. Hunter walks in the room, having dropped off their reports, "what were they arguing about this time?"
Echo stands at attention, "who smells worse, sir."
Tech pulls his arm to make him relax. Hunter smirks, "in that case, Tech, Wrecker, go shower."
"in a minute, I'm in the middle of something." Tech says, carefully pulling out a circuit.
"it'll still be here when you get back." Crosshair comments.
"it wasn't last time." Tech grumbles. He leaves anyway. Wrecker dashes out of the room after him.
Hunter watches Echo yawn and motions to the couch, "get some sleep, soldier."
Echo nods and lays down.
Hunter looks over at Echo as he thrashed about, lost in a horrifying nightmare. He walks over and rubs his back soothingly, "it's alight soldier, you're safe."
Crosshair sits up. "that's going to be annoying." he comments.
"the best thing we can do is calm him down. I've decided we're not going on mission for two weeks. It'll give him time to get used to us and to deal with his issues." Hunter tosses him a datapad, "I've worked out a schedule to ease the stress on all of us."
Crosshair smirks while reading, "you'd never get the two of them to follow this for more than two days." he says, motioning to the door.
Tech and Wrecker walk in carrying an orange tarp, cables, and a pully system. They drop it beside Tech's bed.
"what is that?" Hunter asks.
"okay, Echo doesn't have a bed and I've always wanted a hammock , so, I figured that I could set one up and he can have my bed." Tech explains excitedly.
"or... he can have the hammock and you can keep your bed." Crosshair points out.
"well, yes... but..."
"Echo can decide which one he wants." Hunter says, interrupting.
Tech pouts slightly before climbing on Wrecker's shoulders to install it.
Echo wakes up to see Tech grinning at him. He pulls him up and drags him over, "ta-da! You have a choice, either the hammock, or the bed."
Echo blinks, still groggy. "I take it you want the hammock?"
"If you don't mind."
he rolls his eyes before climbing into it. It felt great on his injuries. The sway offered a comfort that he imagined only a mother's arms would have, and drifted back to sleep.
"He chose the hammock." Crosshair states, rubbing it in Tech's face.
Tech wakes up in the middle of the night because someone was shaking him. He puts on his goggles to see a very scared Echo.
"yes? What is it? Are you alright?"
"could you...?" he looks between Tech and the hammock.
Tech blinks, "do you want my company?"
Echo nods. He pulls him over and makes him climb in. Echo climbs in after him and curls into his side. Tech detaches Echo's legs and arm. Setting them aside as to make more room. He wraps his arm and the blanket around him and they both fall asleep.
The next day Echo had been assigned a check-up. Crosshair noticed that he seemed nervous. Hunter pats Echo's shoulder, "you're going to be okay, we're going to be in the training room."
Echo nods. Crosshair rolls his shoulder, "actually, my shoulder's been bugging me. I'm going to get it checked out."
Hunter looked like he didn't quite believe him, but let him anyway.
"can we do an obstacle course this time?" Tech asks.
"no, you know Wrecker would just smash through it." Hunter say, walking away.
The two of them head inside the medical bay and a droid flies up to them, "ah, CT-1409, you are here for your appointment."
"uh... my number is CT-21-0408." Echo says, a little confused.
"did no one inform you? That number has been recorded as "deceased". You have been assigned a new number."
"oh."
"do you need something?" the droid asks Crosshair.
"no, he needs me."
the droid nods, "very well." Echo smiles at him, grateful. He sits on the exam table while Crosshair leans on the wall.
The session lasts for several minutes before the droid declared him fit for duty. As they walk down to the training room Echo says, "thank you."
Crosshair smirks, "for what?"
"for watching over me."
"I'm a sniper, it's what I do."
Echo chuckled at that.
Wrecker walks into the room to find Echo and Tech working. Tech was working, Echo was helping. Tech was so focused that he was quiet, allowing Echo's mind to wander somewhere dark. Wrecker grabs his toys from his bed and pokes Echo with one. "he's eating your face..."
Echo snaps out of it and lightly pushes it away. "Wrecker, what are you doing?"
"I'm tryin ta cheer you up. he's eating your face, nom, nom, nom."
"better my face then my hair."
"you don't got any hair."
Echo chuckles, "exactly. Give me that." he takes the doll and puts it on Tech's head. "shh... it's napping."
Wrecker laughs causing Tech to look up.
"what's so funny?"
"Gunt is on your head, he's nappin'"
Tech rolls his eyes and pulls it off. He grabs a tiny metal rod and tapes it to the toy's hand. He then trades it for Lula and does the same. "now they are Jedi." he hands her to Echo and returns to work.
They wander to the middle of the room and play.
