Gibbs/OC featuring McGee/Bishop

AU - McGee is Gibbs son from a relationship he had before he met Shannon. Shannon was his stepmother, Kelly, his half sister- both of whom he adored. He was visiting his mother's family for the summer when they were murdered. He was 10 when that happened (we know Kelly was 8) Tim was 13-15, through the Diane years, 15-16, through Rebecca's years(leaving for college at 15, just before he was 16) and 18-20 for Stephanie (away at FLETC and working on his PHD in Justice, Law and Criminology online in his spare time)

"Hey" Gibbs said acknowledging the woman next to him at the makeshift bar. This was the last place he actually wanted to be tonight. But Tim was in need of a friend to accompany him to his publishers Christmas party and they were on call. He'd conceded the point and let Tim drag him there, at least they could use the excuse of a call to leave early. Tim was across the room, being bailed up by Lyndi's assistant about a date. He had offered to go to the bar and get some drinks while he dealt with the sexually aggressive woman.

"Hi there." She said, smiling at him. First thing Gibbs noticed was her hair was up, swept off her face, curled in loose curls and it was light-golden auburn in colour. She was a head or so shorter than he and he gave her a second glance and a smile. He could tell from her accent that she wasn't American. "You work for the publisher?" She asked softly.

"Nah, here with my son." He supplied, giving her a smile of his own. "You?"

"I'm a ghost writer, real name is Anne, Anne Conway." She said offering her hand in a handshake.

"Jethro Gibbs." He accepted, shaking her hand.

"Oh, you're Tim's father. Nice to finally meet you. I have heard so many wonderful things about you." She gushed, giving him a wide, friendly smile.

"All lies, I'm sure" he teased, winking at her.

"I'm sure" she retorted chuckling at him. "Well, it was lovely to meet you."

"You too." Gibbs replied, suddenly noting the gold band on her finger.

Within minutes of Anne's departure, Gibbs' phone actually did ring for a call out, so they said their goodbyes and left. Upon leaving Gibbs caught Anne's eyes and a grin graced his face. Tim noticed the goofy grin and smiled. His plan had worked. They had met.

"So, I saw you talking to Anne." Tim said once they were on the road to Rock Creek Park. He just raised his eyebrows at Tim. "She's going to be co-writing Gemcity's next book. Starting a new series. We've been brainstorming, it's looking like it's going to be a political, erotic thriller based in the white house."

"Bit different from your usual, isn't it?" He asked. "Thought mystery and crime was your bread and butter."

"Series is almost done. Big twist coming at the end of this book."

"Her husband doesn't mind all the hours you two are going to be working together in close quarters?" Gibbs asked, secretly trying to gain information from his son.

"She's separated," Tim answered, spying a huge grin grace his father's face once more, out of the corner of his eyes. "Divorce is due to be finalised in January. I gather he doesn't care too much, since he left her for a nineteen year old."

"More fool him" Gibbs muttered under his breath, knowing Tim heard his response. 'So, he wanted me to meet her, and now he wants me know that she isn't married. Interesting?' Gibbs thought at Tim's answer to her husband. He couldn't help himself at the grin that spread across his face.

Tim met Anne at the publisher holiday party three years ago. Her husband was with her then and they were happily married. The following holiday party, she was by herself. They'd only separated a month prior and they'd spent the whole night talking. They exchanged details and traded emails daily, getting to know each other. The decision to collaborate on a book was actually Lyndi's idea. Anne was well established as an erotic novelist, under her pen name Anna Callahan, and Tim was well established writing crime, both of them expressed a thought that they wanted to breach out into the seedy side of politics. If it was a flop, so be it, nothing lost, nothing gained. If it was success Lyndi had plans to make it into a trilogy. "the next fifty shades of grey' she'd said she'd market it as.

"So when's Gemcity and what's her name, start working on the new book?" Gibbs asked, having processed their scene with the rest of the team and on their return to the navy yard.

"Next year, after she returns from Australia." Tim said.

"Australia?" Gibbs questioned. "she's Australian?"

"Yeah, her actual job is the Australian Navy Liaison Officer for the DOD. She works out of Building C. Her father is James Conway, as in head of the Joint Chief of Staff, that James Conway!"

"Yikes," Gibbs said. He has no patience for politics. "He's a big name in DC politics."

"I hear he's a softie. You'll be ok." Tim said reassuringly, patting his fathers arm.

"Why will I be ok?" Gibbs asked cluelessly.

"I know you like her. You should ask her out."

"No, ..I mean I like her. But no. Confirmed bachelor at this point, remember?" Gibbs said to Tim firmly.

"But .. I"

"No Tim." Gibbs cut him off. "Listen to me, no more women. I'm done." At this point, he felt he'd been screwed over by enough women in his life.

"Can you just listen to me for a minute?" Tim argued. "I think ..-"

"Read my lips. I'm done!"
