*Third Person's POV*
Today was a normal day, like most days, as a preteen girl, thirteen, saw Doctor Beaumont's shop on one of her usual walks. Curious, she decided to go inside. She opened the door cautiously, not sure what kind of store this was, before taking a peek around. She saw all the objects and figured it was either a junk shop or an antique shop. After contemplating for a few seconds, she made the choice to go in but was still cautious about her surroundings. She never saw Doctor Beaumont in his side room, playing solitaire, with the assistance of his arm chair pointing a clawed finger, from it's design, on a move he overlooked, nor did he notice her walk inside his shop for she had opened the door quietly. For the sake of this story, let's call the girl Penny. Penny continued walking around the shop, eying everything carefully, until she spotted something. A jar. This jar was large, looked almost heart shaped, was obviously old looking and even though it was gold it was a type of non-transparent glass. The jar was not too fragile though, actually quite durable, as the lid, that was sealed tightly and obviously welded in a way to stay shut, was decorated with ruby's and emeralds. A very lovely sight. Penny, figuring her mother would love this, picked it up to examine it more closely while looking for a price tag. After a few seconds of being picked up a voice was heard from inside the jar.
"Hey kid, let me out!" A weak male voice nearly demanded before forcing the jar to shake. Penny was so startled by this that she ended up dropping the jar by accident. The jar then fell to the floor with a crash followed by a breaking sound.
"Bah! Is someone there?" Doctor Beaumont called out in annoyance before rising. Penny, seeing the jar was cracked open on one side, but didn't notice the green smoke trying to escape but retreated when he heard Doctor Beaumont's voice, while Penny gasped in shock.
"Oh no." She muttered worriedly. She didn't want to get in trouble; What kid would? She picked up the jar and looked around for a sneaky escape, though couldn't find one.
"Oh, I wish I was outta here." She said worriedly to herself.
"Your first wish is granted." The being in the bottle said to her. Before Penny could blink, she began glowing then appeared outside as the bottle remained inside, dropped again on the floor but with no damage this time around. Now, If you wondered why this being hid in the jar again, there are two reasons. 1st was because he couldn't transfer anywhere and 2nd was because he was afraid of Doctor Beaumont. Why? Because, back before Doctor Beaumont was born, his ancestor and his master, Archimedes, instructing him, had trapped the being in that jar years ago as it was causing destruction. Okay, enough back story, inside the shop the being was upset as poor Penny, who was now running away screaming from fright at suddenly being teleported outside, was without him.
"Don't leave me! You've got two more wishes coming!" The being panicked as the cracked side was now face down. Doctor Beaumont walked over, not hearing the being in the jar, noticed the jar on the floor. He picked it up, not even thinking about checking the jar for damages, just seemed a bit stunned before looking around.
"Must've fell over on it's own." He muttered as no one was in sight. If no one was seen, then it happened on it's own. Right? He knew the being in the jar couldn't move the bottle to break free, for he was not strong enough, so he only presumed.
"At least the stopper is still in." He says as he puts the jar back on the shelf.
"Can't afford to ever let this danger out." He said, glaring menacingly at the jar, before huffing off. What he didn't realize was, through the broken part that formed a slit, eyes peered out, along with a green glow, followed by a menacing chuckle.
*In time, I will escape. Much sooner than that old fool ever planned.* The being thought with a chuckle, voice of his thoughts deeper than his current one, as he knew he would be out of that jar before the end of the day. After all, he was magical and, now close to escaping, was able to sense his freedom. The town of Riverdale had no idea what was in store.
*Aria's POV*
I was working today and it was a bit busy. I had sat Archie at the bar so we could work on a weird mystery column while I worked. I had, once again, shot down the mole people and the fire ants from mars idea.
"Why not investigate Big Foot again?" I asked, remembering that mystery never got solved.
"I will another day." He tells me as he thinks.
"Maybe next episode." I mutter.
"What?" Archie asked me.
"What?" I asked in the same tone. Archie shook his head before going back to thinking. I saw more customers and went right back to work. Reggie came in, boasting his arrival, to which everyone ignored, before going to sit down. I, reluctantly, took his order before leaving and returning with it. I was still upset about the voodoo dolls incident that happened almost 2 weeks ago.
"How's your day going?" Reggie asked me in a normal, non flirtatious, way. I blinked in surprise from this.
"Um… Ok, I guess." I say, too shocked from how nice he was being. Why was he acting like this?
"Well, that's good." He said with a smile. Ok, now I was trying not to freak out.
"Ok, what do you want?" I suddenly asked him bluntly. There had to be a reason for this nice act.
"What do ya mean?" He asked me.
"You haven't called me Doll Face, you're not trying to flirt with me, heck, I'm surprised you haven't tried to give me the Mantle Charm. So this means, you're either afraid of me, finally respect my wishes of backing off, or you want something from me. So, what do you want?" I commented, listed my reasons, then asked once more.
"Nothing really gets by you, huh?" He asked me. I shook my head no in response.
"Well, I do have a small favor to ask." Reggie suddenly implied. I rolled my eyes.
*I knew it. If he asks me on a date, I swear, I'm going to send him through the window.
*I thought to myself. "I was wondering, since you have tomorrow off, if you wouldn't mind watching my niece for me? I have to train and study so I won't be able to." He suddenly asks me. I blinked, surprise showing very clearly on my face, at what he asked me.
"You… Want me to babysit?" I questioned.
"Yeah." He replies in an 'obviously' tone.
"What's the catch?" I asked him cautiously.
"No catch. Betty just can't do it and my family adores you. I mean, who doesn't really? You'd get paid, of course, plus it's only for a few hours. 4 tops." Reggie responds. I looked right at him and could tell he meant it.
"Well… Alright, I'll watch her. After all, I do adore your niece." I say as I ended up smiling over how adorable Amy was.
"Great! I'll let my brother know. Thanks Doll-I mean, Aria." Reggie said with a smile. I was in shock he corrected himself.
"Have you finally accepted I'm in a relationship?" I asked Reggie suddenly. Maybe I could have a bit of relief.
"As sad as that is, yes. Don't get me wrong, you're still Doll Face to me, but I'm going to try and respect the boundaries a bit more. If you and Jughead don't work though, I'm always available." He says to me. He had me until that last part.
"You do realize, if I were to ever date you, you'd have to be nice to Archie? My cousin! And, if married, you'd be family." I taunted him. His face dropped from hearing this.
"On second thought, I hope you and Jughead live happy lives." He said in a mild panic. I smirked at this.
*Why the heck didn't I think of this sooner?!* I thought to myself.
"What about Betty and Veronica?" I questioned.
"Oh, I'm still trying to win their hearts." He says in a matter of fact tone. I felt my eye twitch from this.
"Why?" I questioned.
"Because it's unfair Archie gets two ladies. He'll, eventually, need to pick just one. I'm just there to let them know there's someone waiting for them if they need it." He explained to me. Reggie, actually, had a valid point.
"Well, try not to be you about it. Be a bit nicer, like Archie." I say to him.
"Pft, like my charms don't work." He bragged.
"They don't, along with those wild tales of yours. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to work. I'll be at your brother's place tomorrow to watch Amy." I say happily before getting back to work.
Reggie was annoying still, but he was learning at least. That made me, only a little bit, proud of him. I finished an order and turned to see Reggie scare Archie. I rolled my eyes, knowing Reggie was being a jerk to Archie again, but let the boys be as I continued my work. After I brought out the food I heard Archie scream. I rushed over, just to see him drop a steaming hard drive on the counter. I looked over all of it. Archie's, now burned again, fingers, my laptop fried, Reggie's soda cup empty, soda on the counter. Not hard to figure out.
"Reginald Mantle!" I scolded suddenly. Both boys jumped from this.
"I already figured out what happened! You're paying for his repairs!" I scolded as I went behind the counter and pulled out the first aid kit.
"But-" He started but I gave him a glare.
"Want me to tell your mom? Or would you rather I hit you?" I asked him. Reggie knew I was serious and sighed.
"Alright, fine. Send me the bill and I'll pay for it." Reggie said in defeat.
"And for Archie's earlier! I know what happened at Lunch today!" I scolded him. This happened to Archie's laptop earlier and now mine!
"This… Wasn't a rental?" Reggie questioned suddenly.
"No, it's my personal laptop! I was letting Archie borrow it until his rental was ready!" I scolded Reggie badly. Reggie went visibly pale at hearing this was mine.
"Right, very sorry, I'll pay for both laptop repairs and rentals! In fact, I'll call ahead and let them know." Reggie said before moving away, pulled out his new cell phone and made a call.
"Um… Thanks." Archie said in shock. I was quick with bandaging Archie's fingers before cleaning up. I made sure everything was cool first before touching it.
"Glad you sent me copies on my computer and even happier I put then on a usb stick." I said as I got everything shining like knew.
"Thanks. Could you, at least, write the articles for me? Now that we have no computers?" He asked me. I shook my head no.
"I can't Arch. I've got babysitting, working here, plus I promised to help Dilton in his lab this week." I reply. Yes, Dilton and I are on the comfortable friend terms where we can work together in a lab again. I missed it too.
"Oh, well, I better go get this fixed then." Archie tells me. "Leave it here. I'll go bring it to the repair shop. You go on home with your car." I say to him with a smile.
"Are you sure?" Archie asks.
"Yes, I'm sure. I get off in 30 minutes, plus I have to stop by the art store anyhow to find more paint. The shops are next to each other. Also, I need to pick up my car from you today." I say to him. Yes, Archie fixed my car, finally. I, seriously, couldn't thank him enough.
"Great! Thanks Aria, you're an absolute angel." Archie replied before heading out. I rolled my eyes as I put the laptop in my bag.
"Why is it you're always willing to help?" Reggie suddenly asked me.
"Because it's who I am. I might have an attitude, be tough and have a temper, but I try to do the right thing." I say before handing him another soda in a to go cup.
"Please, don't spill this one." I say to him. Reggie was shocked I got him a second one for free.
"Thanks." He said as he took it and gave me the empty one to toss.
"Don't mention it." I say to him with a smile. I then heard the door open and frowned when Vinnie walked right up and sat in a stool in front of me.
"Hey babe, glad to see you're in today." He said in a sleazy tone. I shuttered at how he was eyeing me.
"Let me guess, nachos and a drink?" I asked him as I tried to restrain myself from wanting to strangle him.
"Naw, how about some wings today?" He questions me. I groaned on the inside.
"Are you paying? Or hoping they're free?" I asked him.
"Paying." He says as he shows me a $20. I grabbed it but felt it was light. I looked it over and frowned.
"This is fake. Pay in real cash, or leave." I tell him as I crumbled up the bill and tossed it. Vinnie grumbled before pulling out a $10 and two $1's.
"Better." I mumbled before charging him, giving him his 35 cents change on the counter, like hell I was going to touch his hand, before scurrying to tell Pops the order. I looked back to see Reggie was still there.
"Did you need something else, Reggie?" I asked curiously.
"Just wanted to let you know to pick Amy up from school at 3pm, there will be a seat for her for your car, and I also wanted to get my bill." Reggie said to me.
"Oh shoot!" I say before lightly bopping my forehead with my palm in a 'Could a had a V8' way before ringing him up. Reggie paid, left me a $10 tip, then left.
"What was that about, babe?" Vinnie asked me, tone filled with both curiosity and annoyance.
"None of your business." I say bluntly before hearing the ding. I served Vinnie his wings and soda before seeing Jughead walk in. I, practically, ran up to him and hugged him happily.
"Well, hello good lookin'." Jughead said flirtatiously to me.
"Want the usual?" I asked him.
"You know it." He says happily. I sat him down before going to get his order.
"Aria, how about I let you off early so you can eat with Jughead?" Pops asked me from the kitchen.
"Are you sure?" I asked him.
"Yup, I'm sure. I can't deprive my 2 best customers, after all." He says in a happy tone. I smiled happily.
"Thanks Pops." I say before grabbing my bag then going over to Jughead.
"I'm off early, so we can eat together." I say happily as I sat across from him, bright smile on my face.
"Great!" He said happily before he frowned. I tilted my head a little to the side.
"What's wrong?" I asked him curiously.
"I think someone disapproves of this." Jughead said as he hinted to someone behind me. I took a peak and saw Vinnie was scowling at us, more specifically Jughead.
"Oh, ignore him. He just likes to start trouble." I say while turning back to Jughead.
"It's a bit unsettling." He says softly, showing how uncomfortable he was getting.
"Want to switch places?" I offered.
"Heck no! I'm not giving him a good view of you!" He says defensively in a low tone. I smiled at how defensive he got.
"Gosh, I love you so much." I say with a smile as I put my elbows on the table and rested my chin in both of my palms. I swear, Jughead could make me fall in love with him over and over without even trying.
"And I love you too, my harp." He says to me as he made the same pose as me. I giggled at his little nickname for me. He calls me this because, in his words, I remind him of the golden harp, lovely in looks and sound, from Jack and the Beanstalk.
"Order up." Pops said as he placed 2 milkshakes and a plate full of burgers for the both of us.
"Thanks Pops." Jughead and I said in unison before grabbing a burger and eating some.
"Hey, I have to run a few errands after this, care to join me?" I asked him sweetly.
"Of course, I'll follow you to the ends of the earth." He tells me in a lovey dovey tone. I giggled at how sweet he was acting.
"Well, I'm glad about that. It's only 2 places, maybe three." I say as we finished all the food. "Cool. Let me guess, the art shop is one of the stops?" He asked me.
"Is my routine becoming that obvious?" I asked him.
"Sometimes. I just know you, mostly, go there on Tuesdays or when you run out of something." He says as I pull out my wallet. As I opened it, Jughead stopped me. I looked up to see him plop cash on the table.
"Oh no, Jughead, I should pay." I say to him.
"No no, I was here before you, you joined me, therefore I pay." He says to me. Mind you, he paid for this bill but was still getting those checks sent here to cover his tab from those agents.
"Am I the only one you buy burgers for?" I asked him.
"Besides for myself when needed, yes." He said with a smile before taking my hand and kissing it.
"You're worth it." He adds after. My face went red as my heart beat hard against my chest.
"How is it you can make me fall in love with you over and over?" I asked him.
"I'm not sure. In all do honesty, I'm the lucky one." Jughead tells me.
"How so?" I asked him.
"Have you not seen yourself? You're the hottest girl in school! You could get any guy you wanted, without even trying, but instead you chose me. Out of many guys that eye you, you choose a simple person with many thoughts. Why is that?" Jughead asked me after his mini rant.
"Because you're unique. Between looks, personality, how adorable you are, your love for food and your interesting view in life makes you a rare find. You are, to me, the perfect guy." I confess to him. Jughead blushed and looked away while rubbing the back of his head.
"Gee, ya think so?" He asked me in a bashful tone.
"I have no reason to lie." I say to him. We get up when we see Pops come over, waved bye to him, then headed out for our walk. I had my bag on me, nice and secure, while we walked.
"But… You do lie..." Jughead said sadly. I realized what he meant and looked down in shame. I had told everyone about the Morpholomew, like I promised, which hurt them and me. They felt like I didn't trust them but I explained I kept it a secret for their safety. I didn't want them to worry if it was going to be cured before anything bad happened. This hurt Jughead the most. He was understanding, but this secret hurt our relationship a bit. Jughead looked and saw how ashamed I was from that lie.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. I know you have your reasons." He says those words of comfort as he pulls me into a one arm sideways hug. I smiled a bit and leaned into him, resting my head on his shoulder, as we walked.
"It's ok. I shouldn't keep secrets from you, though." I say as I relaxed in his embrace.
"Hey, after this, wanna go see a movie together?" Jughead asked me.
"I'd love to, but I have to study for the pop quiz in history class." I tell him.
"Pop quiz?" He asked me quizically.
"Yeah, the one Miss Grundy will give us tomorrow." I tell him.
"How do you know?" He asked me.
"She has mild tells when she gets ready for one. A pencil behind her ear the day before, adjusting her glasses when she mentions something from her books, little things like that." I tell him.
"You're joking!" Jughead exclaimed in shock.
"Nope. I've studied the teachers, mainly the repeats I have, so I tend to know when they are giving out pop quizes and tend to know what the tests will be based on." I say with a smile.
"You're a genius, you know that right?" Jughead says to me before kissing the top of my head. I chuckled at that.
"I've been told. After all, you and Dilton are the smartest guys in school while Betty and I are the smartest girls." I say truthfully. Believe it or not, all 4 of us have 3.8-4.0 GPA scores. Jughead never has to try, it's like he knows even when he sleeps.
"Then I should study after all this." He tells me.
"If you want, I could help give you pointers on all the teacher's tells." I offered.
"I'd like that, but I'd rather you hint on a study date." He says with a wink.
"We won't get any studying done, though." I chuckled out.
"So?" He says as he wiggled his brows up and down. I laughed and lightly smacked his chest.
"I'm being serious, you jester." I say to him. "So am I." He tells me before kissing my cheek. We went into that art store 1st, since it was closer, so I could get more pencils, paint, erasers and anything else that catches my eye. I had a passion for music and art.
"Good afternoon Aria, right on time as usual." I heard Mr. Wilkins greet me.
"Good afternoon Mr. Wilkins, how are you today?" I greeted and asked politely as I looked around.
"I'm doing well and yourself?" He asked me. "I'm well, thank you." I say as I looked for the paint colors I needed.
"When do you plan on bringing in one of your artworks for me?" Mr. Wilkins asked me. Yes, he still wants me to donate/sell him one of my artworks for him.
"I still don't think any will be good enough, but I'm trying to think of the right one to use." I say as I picked up a paint tube.
"You're joking, right?" Jughead asked in shock.
"What do you mean?" I asked him as I grabbed another tube of paint.
"Your art is amazing! How can you even think it's not good enough?" Jughead exclaimed in pure shock, which caused me to blush, while Mr. Wilkins smiled.
"See? Even Jughead likes your art." Mr. Wilkins boasted, which made me blush more.
"Um, well, I just don't want to be prideful. I think my art is ok, but nothing compared to Van Gogh or Picasso." I explained as I now had 6 tubes total of different colors.
"Maybe, instead of comparing to criticize, you should compare to see the uniqueness of each piece. Each artist has a unique style, rarely ever the same, which makes them stand out. That's why I appreciate your art. You see what you see, but also beyond that. You see the invisible, the imaginative, the creatures, the people, the small, the big, emotions and much more that many ignore. That's why your art is special." Mr. Wilkins explained while complimenting my work. I felt touched by those words.
"He's not wrong. You can make anything you paint look beautiful. Heck, anything artistic you do." Jughead tells me.
"Well… Alright, I'll work on something spectacular." I say with a smile before putting the paint on the counter.
"I'm glad to hear that. Also, I just got something that you might like." Mr. Wilkins said before digging under his counter.
He always did this, put one certain special thing aside for me. He came back up and showed me a decent sized satchel. It was a side case, all fabric, one strap type of bag, perhaps unisex, that was black but had paint splatters all over it, 2 straps in the front that buckle to keep the bag close that were leather, also black and the buckles were silver. I tilted my head curiously as he opened it to show me how much room was in it. Different pockets from big to small, more room than I thought there would be and there were even two small pockets in the front outside.
"I know you get a lot of art supplies and I've seen you carry them around sometimes. I figured you'd appreciate a canvas bag to carry them all in." He says to me. This peaked my interest a lot. I gently took it and looked it over. I figured, when full, it would be 10 cm long, 28 cm wide on the bottom but 3d cm long on top and 27cm high. This could hold a lot too. I smiled up at him.
"How much?" I asked him.
"Well, my price is $58 dollars, but since you tend to bring in customers without trying, also my number one customer, I'll sell it to you for $33." He says with a smile. I decided it was a good deal.
"Fair price, I'll buy it." I say with a smile. I paid for my stuff and he put them all in my new bag.
"I swear, you could talk me into buying anything in this store." I jokingly say.
"I just know what an artist needs, even when they don't realize it." Mr. Wilkins said with a smile.
"You have a good day." He added after.
"You too and thank you." I say before we left.
"What do you plan on making next?" Jughead asked me curiously.
"I'm not sure." I say as we walked together.
"Well, anything you create will be a masterpiece." Jughead says as he holds me close. I blushed at his words. We went to the computer store and I gave them the computer, told them what happened, told them to bill Reggie, got the loaners for Archie and me and then left.
"I don't know what to do, Jughead. The deadline for the article is due soon and now, Archie can't type and I don't have time to do this." I say sadly as I held Archie's rental in my arms while my rental was in my bag.
"No sweat. Archie will dictate, while I hunt and peck." Jughead said with a smile.
"Thanks Jughead, but I'm not sure Archie even knows what to type about. Truth is, we're blank." I confess as we had both been stumped for a long while. The article is due in 2 days!
"Can't you just write about-" Jughead started but I stopped him.
"If you're going to say the Fire Ants From Mars or the Mole Men, then no." I say to him. Jughead frowned but then brightened up as if he had a bright idea.
"Well, how about checking out Doctor Beaumont's shop? He's always got something weird in there!" Jughead said excitedly. I looked and brightened up at the idea.
"Jughead, have I told you you're a genius?" I asked in joy as I pulled him into a sideways hug. He accepted the hug by kissing the top of my head.
"Yes, but I won't argue with that." He said happily. We went across the street and looked at all the odd antiquities in the front window before hearing the door open.
"Welcome, young lady and gentleman, to my emporium of curios and antiquities." Doctor Beaumont greeted before opening the door all the way, while moving aside, to let us in. I smiled and walked right in, Jughead following suit, as I took in my surroundings. Each visit, I swear, was was always different. It's almost as if the shop changes each day on it's own.
*Perhaps it does.* I thought before turning to look at Doctor Beaumont, trying to hold in laughs but couldn't hide my amused smile over his big Arabic style hat with a gem and feather on it. The same one Archie had seen him wear when he got those dice.
"Thank you." I say politely.
"Can I interest you in anything to buy?" Doctor Beaumont asked us.
"Tempting, but no. Actually, we're here to ask if you have any interesting stories we could use for the article." I asked politely. I say interesting because I don't find his stories 'spooky' like Archie does. Well, not all of them anyway.
"Ah, of course. You are assisting Archie with his story by typing it on this laptop he rented while his is in the repair shop." He says, putting his finger tips to the sides of his head, as if he was reading our thoughts before heading to his secret desk.
"Wow! That's amazing!" Jughead gasped in pure shock. I was shocked too until I looked at the computer and deadpanned face at the note on the laptop that said it was a rental.
"Did you read our minds?" Jughead questioned in amazement.
"Actually, he read the note on the laptop." I say before looking up.
"Ah, yes I did Miss Andrews, but that's the power of observation. It can make anyone seem like a psychic." Doctor Beaumont said, never loosing that mild 'pep', while faintly smiling. He wasn't wrong.
"Oh..." Jughead said in disappointment before shrugging. We wondered around a bit while we kept talking.
"So, any tales for the article?" I asked as I looked over a few different objects. I saw a gold jar, in a shape that seemed close to a heart and decent size, perhaps a vintage urn of sorts, with lovely gems decorating the rim of the lid. I walked closer and saw, in the shine, it was a thick type of silver and copper shine to look gold.
"What about this strange plastic bullet? Did you use it to shoot a poltergeist?" I heard Jughead ask. I set the laptop down next to the jar before looking at it with interest.
"No, it's my nasal inhaler." Doctor Beaumont responded. I gently picked up the jar and noticed it was Arabic, actually made from clay instead of glass or metal but is mistaken often, used for oils mostly but could also hold spices such as ginger, that seemed to be from the 1400's, possibly 1473 the latest from the use of real gems on the top, though I couldn't be 100% sure.
"What about this old Islamic/Arabic jar?" I questioned as I was very gentle with it.
I always handled everything, especially items in this shop, with care unlike the boys. Which, by the way, have almost fully paid back Doctor Beaumont for all the broken objects from the time the pirate ghouls attacked. As I was about to turn it around, to unknowingly reveal the giant crack, I saw my wrist get grabbed roughly before the jar was practically ripped out of my hands. I blinked in shock as Doctor Beaumont released me just to hold the jar protectively. This surprised me a whole lot, mainly because he knew I was extremely careful, cautious and wary of every object he sold/kept in/from this store.
"This… This is nothing..." Doctor Beaumont replied, seemingly nervous of something dealing with that jar, before he, carefully, put it back on the shelf.
*Perhaps it's cursed? Or is he hiding something in it?* I thought to myself. I was ready to ask, but Doctor Beaumont was pushing Jughead and myself out of the store.
"Sorry, no stories today. Goodbye." He said before pushing us out the door.
"Wait! The Laptop!" I said, remembering where I set it, as I tried to get in.
Doctor Beaumont stopped me before going to it. We all failed to notice the green smoke slip out of the jar and into the laptop. See, it couldn't get out and create it's original form, actually it couldn't stay out for long as smoke, but it could transfer itself into other objects to try and free itself from those, whether intentional or not, who make 3 wishes. Doctor Beaumont retrieved it, pushed it in may arms, them pushed Jughead and myself further out the door.
"Here you are, good day." He said hurriedly before shutting the door completely.
"Boy, was he in a strange mood today." I muttered as Jughead and myself stared at the door. We started walking away, after a few more seconds, before Jughead spoke up.
"Yeah, probably worried about some cosmic destruction or something. Me? I'm only worried about lunch." He commented. The last part made me lightly laugh.
"Jughead, you just had your 2nd lunch." I reminded him.
"Oh, right. Well, dinner then." He corrected himself, causing me to laugh again.
"Jughead, you're too funny." I say happily.
"Speaking of dinner, wanna go out for dinner tonight?" He asked me.
"Jughead, it's a school night. I already told ya I gotta study." I remind him as we headed to Archie's place.
"Well, we can study biology together." He commented with a wink. My face heated up, turning redder than my hair, because I knew what he meant too.
"Jughead.~" I softly whined from embarrassment. Jughead started laughing from how I looked and whined before he pulled me closer to him. "You look adorable when you blush like that." He commented before kissing my cheek.
"Meanie." I say childishly.
"You love me, though." Jughead commented with a smile.
"I can't argue with that." I say honestly. We snuggled close together through our walk, continuing talking about different things, until we got to Archie's place. We get there and Archie let us in with a sigh.
"What's wrong?" I asked him curiously.
"Reggie called me. He couldn't pay for the rentals, only the repairs, so I have to work extra this week on chores and mow a few lawns just to cover the rental." Archie said sadly.
"Do you want me to pay for them?" I asked him.
"No, you save your money. Besides, I'd end up having to pay you back. Now I'm going to miss my deadline, especially without a story." Archie muttered sadly.
"Maybe you could get someone to write your article for you?" Jughead suggested.
"Jughead, do ya mean it?" Archie asked him enthusiastically, thinking it was an offer more than a question.
"Whoa, don't look at me. The weirdest mystery I could come up with is why there's no ham in a hamburger." Jughead explained. I chuckled at how cute, yet oddly right with the weirdness, Jughead suggested.
"Aria?" Archie asked me.
"You already asked and, like I said, I can't. Maybe Betty could help?" I asked. Archie shook his head no.
"Between babysitting and tutoring, she won't have time." Archie explained before going into thought.
"Hmm. Who could I trust to write my article? It's gotta be someone who likes my stories..." Archie muttered.
"There's Dilton, Midge, Big Ethel, Collins, Tyler, Geoff, Tyrone, Ronin, Jimmy, Moose, Robbie, do I need to continue?" I say as I list a bunch of suggestions.
"Veronica!" Archie exclaimed with joy. Jughead gasped while I burst into laughter.
"Good one, cous!" I laugh out.
"I'm serious!" Archie exclaimed. I stopped laughing.
"You are?" I questioned, thinking he lost his mind.
"Bad idea Arch. Ronnie is sweet and everything, but what she really cares about is shopping." Jughead tells him as he rests his hands on Archie's shoulders.
"Jughead's right, she won't enjoy this. It'll be torture for her." I explained.
"You've got it all wrong. Veronica will love this!" Archie defended as he pulled away from Jughead's grip. I sighed and gave him the rental.
"She says she loves the articles because she cares about you and doesn't want to hurt your feelings. But, do what you want. If I could help, I would, but I can't. Do you have my keys?" I asked him. Archie nodded and gave me the keys.
"I'm telling ya, you're wrong." Archie says to me.
"Whatever. Need a ride home, Jughead?" I asked Jughead as I blew off Archie.
"Yes please." Jughead replied to me.
"Bye Arch, good luck with Ronnie." I say to him.
"Bye Arch." Jughead said before we left Archie inside. We got in my, thankfully fixed, car before I drove off.
"At least you have your car back." Jughead said happily.
"I'm glad too." I say as I leaned back in my seat.
"Do you know what tomorrow's pop quiz is on?" Jughead asked me.
"It's based around the Spanish Conquistadors." I tell him.
"But how do you know?" Jughead asked me.
"Miss Grundy gave off a few hint words when talking about it over everything else the past 7 weeks." I say to him simply.
"I love that you're smart." Jughead said in a love struck tone with a smile. I only chuckled as I pulled up to his place. As soon as I did, Mrs. Jones came running out.
"Aria, I'm happy you're here." She said happily. Curious, I stepped out of my car with Jughead.
"You are?" I questioned her.
"Well, yes! I was hoping you'd join us for dinner tonight. I already called your father and he agreed." She said happily to me. I smiled.
"Then, my hands are tied. I'd love to join for dinner." I say with a pleasant smile.
"Great! I'm still cooking, but maybe you'll be able to help me with Jellybean." She says with a smile.
"How can I say no to playing with that cutie?" I asked metaphorically as we headed inside.
"Ya can't. She's too adorable." Jughead commented as we went in and into the kitchen. There was Jellybean, 3 months old now, on her high chair, eager to get out and crawl around. She was a unique baby. Most won't start crawling until at least 6 months old, but at 3 months she was learning to crawl. This child was smarter than most, but I expected nothing less since Jughead's smart as well.
"Hi Jellybean." Jughead greeted. She looked at her big brother and happily smiled a toothless smile, small bit of black hair put up in a top of head ponytail with a pink bow, wearing her adorable pink onesie with matching pink booties. She looked adorable! Jellybean clapped her hands happily at her brother before reaching for him. Jughead picked her up and began lifting her up and down, causing her to giggle and laugh, before hold her to him.
"Guess who's here." Jughead said to her. Jellybean tilted her head as if to ask who.
"Auntie Aria's here." Jughead tell her then points to where I am. Jughead insisted on me being an auntie, his mom and dad are on board with this too, which I wasn't comfortable with, not at first, but grew to like it. Jellybean looked over and smiled brightly at me.
"Hi little one." I say with a wave.
"Aaiiaa Aaaiiaa!" Jellybean squealed out as she reached for me. That was her way of saying Aria. I went over and began tickling her. She squealed and laughed happily from this. We decided to take her into the living room, to be out of Mrs. Jones' way, before we began playing with her. Jellybean was the happiest baby I'd ever seen, anything could make her happy. Even a simple game of Peek-A-Boo was enough to make her giggle. I adored this baby, I adored children in general.
"You're amazing with kids." Jughead tells me.
"I had never thought so until I began babysitting." I confess as I tickled Jellybean.
"Well you are and I think Jellybean agrees with ya." He says before tickling her as well. I lightly blushed at the compliment.
"I just love kids." I say softly to him.
"You're simply amazing." He says with a tone that says it's obvious. Mr. Jones came through the door, greeted us, then went into his room to get out of his work clothes. Wish I had remembered my clothes. Oh well. Jughead and I played with Jellybean for about 40 more minutes until Mrs. Jones called us in for dinner. I picked up Jellybean before we headed in the kitchen. I put Jellybean in her high chair before we all sat down. Mr. Jones shortly joined us and we began eating, with Mrs. Jones already fed Jellybean an hour ago.
"This is delicious, Mrs. Jones." I compliment with a smile. Oh, in case you're curious, the meal was chicken noodle casserole. She made enough to feed a family of 10, or mostly the males.
"Why thank you. After all, a way to a man's heart is through his stomach." She said proudly.
"I agree, hun." Mr. Jones said as he was eating as much as his son.
"Yeah, especially if it's good." Jughead agreed, after swallowing some food, before shoveling more in his mouth. I tried not to giggle, but failed when Jellybean giggled at her brother and father. Mrs. Jones joined in and this caused both males to look at us funny, shrug, then eat more. We tried not to laugh as dinner continued.
"I'll ask my dad, but maybe we could all have dinner at my house next time." I suggest before taking another big bite of the chicken.
"If you cook, then heck yeah! You're cooking is the best!" Jughead said happily before eating more.
"Now, I thought my cooking was amazing." Mrs. Jones suddenly said in a teasing shock tone.
"And I thought you said Pop's Burgers were the most amazing thing made." Mr. Jones said in the same tone as his wife. Jughead's face dropped as I tried to stifle my laughter.
"Well, um, yeah but, uh~, Mom makes great food cause she's my mom, Pop's burgers are the best burgers in Riverdale and Aria's food is amazing because she's my girlfriend and a good cook." Jughead tried his best at defending. I couldn't hold the laughter in anymore as the whole table, minus Jughead, burst into laughter.
"Oh Jughead, we were just teasing you." Mrs. Jones said with a smile. Jughead let out a sigh while wiping his forehead.
"Phew, that's a relief." Jughead said with a smile before eating more.
"I think it's a great idea, though." Mr. Jones suddenly piped up.
"Then we'll set up a date to have dinner together." Mrs. Jones said happily.
"That's great." I say with a bright smile as I finished my plate. I was so used to picking up after myself, as well as others, I naturally started cleaning up. Mrs. Jones had to stop me before she took over.
"Sweetie, you're our guest, you don't need to do anything." She tells me as she has me sit back down.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Force of habit, I suppose." I say honestly. Jughead took my hand and kissed it gently.
"You're just very helpful when you want to be. And that's just about always." Jughead complimented with a smile. I lightly blushed from this. Jughead could make me blush from the simplest of words.
"Anyone who's helpful is good in my book." Mr. Jones said with a smile.
"Indeed, especially one that helps Jughead keep his room clean." Mrs. Jones commented with a bright smile. It's true. After me feeling uncomfortable and the incident where Jughead had shrunk, he's been better with keeping his room tidy. Jughead blushed from embarrassment as he rubbed the back of his head.
"That reminds me, do you two plan on going to college?" Mr. Jones suddenly asked curiously.
"Yeah, just not sure for what yet." Jughead answered for both of us. It was true too, though Jughead's been looking into culinary college courses while I'm still not sure.
"Well, if you kids want to go to college, you'll need after school activities." Mrs. Jones commented as she prepared dessert.
"Well, I did football already last year and doing it again this year." Jughead said as he eyed the ice cream sundaes served to us.
"And I've been in the newspaper club with Archie since I arrived." I commented before biting into a spoon full of sundae.
"You two do realize you need at least three activities, right?" Mrs. Jones commented suddenly. Jughead and I nearly spat out our ice creams from hearing this.
"I beg your pardon?" "Say what now?" Jughead and I say at the same time as we looked at her as if she sprouted legs from her head.
"She's right. Most colleges like to see activities on school records, not just one done multiple times. They want at least three different activities done within high school years to show how much you are able to handle." Mr. Jones tells us. Jughead and I looked at each other before we groaned. School just got more complex.
"Oh, it'll be fine. With how smart you two are, you'll find clubs to be in in no time." Mrs. Jones said with a smile. Jughead and I were silent as we ate our sundaes. I thanked Mrs. Jones for the meal before explaining I had to go home to study. Jughead quietly walked me outside to my car. Once outside, we talked.
"I don't know what to do, Jughead. Not many clubs are open right now." I say sadly. I was bummed now.
"Hey, It's alright. We'll figure it out. I mean, I can talk to Moose and Archie to get me on the track team, maybe you could talk to the girls about cheerleading." He suggested.
"Why can't I try for track with you?" I questioned him curiously.
"Well, for one thing, the coach is mildly sexist, second I think there's only one slot available and I wouldn't look as cute in a skirt like you would." Jughead defended. He was right about the coach. He was mildly sexist at times, plus there was only one spot left for track.
"I still dislike cheerleader stuff." I say in a pouty tone.
"Why? You've got the body, the sexiest legs for the skirt and..." Jughead said but trailed off before turning me around, pull me close to him as he looked me in the eyes.
"You'd be the hottest cheerleader, the fiery spirit of the school." He says in a quiet voice before gently kissing me. I kissed him back as I wrapped my arms around his neck happily. Jughead pulled back and smiled.
"Plus, you'd look sexy beyond all reason in that uniform." He added with a wink. I blushed a dark shade of red as I tried to hide my face.
"Jughead.~" I whined out softly as I hid my face in his shirt. Jughead chuckled before getting me to look at him.
"It's true, though. At least for me." He says before kissing my forehead.
"Well, you do look good in the football jersey, plus I think you'd look better in those track shorts than I would." I say with a wink. Now it was his turn to blush a dark red. I chuckled before kissing the tip of his nose.
"You look so freakin' cute when you blush." I say with a smile. Jughead smiled as he kept me close.
"You are too, my harp." He says to me. I felt my heart pound against my ribs, threatening to jump out, as our eyes met.
"Jughead!~ Aria needs to study and I think you should too!~" We heard Mrs. Jones call out in a motherly sing song voice. We moved apart in embarrassment before he turned to look back at his mom, who was at the door.
"Mom!~" Jughead whined out in embarrassment. I quickly kissed his cheek, causing him to look at me, as I gave a small smile.
"It's ok, I do need to go. I love you and I'll see you tomorrow." I say to him. He sighed in defeat before smiling.
"I love you too." He said softly to me. We parted ways before I drove home. My mind went into thought as I drove.
*Three activities?! At least?! How?! I mean, I've got the newspaper club because of Archie, but that's it. I suppose I can ask Betty and Veronica about 'shudders' cheerleading, but what to do for a third? Oh man!~ Why!~ I'd join BE's bee club if it wasn't for this stupid allergy. Maybe a music club or an art club? Maybe even band since I have the violin! No, I can't do that. I need more lessons. Aw man, what am I gonna do?* I thought as I pulled into my driveway. I needed to look into more school clubs and other qualifications for college. For now, time to study and sleep. And that's what I did, after my shower and changing into sleep shorts and a tank top of course.
*Next day Archie's POV*
I had called Ronnie last night to meet me in the parking lot today because I had a favor to ask her. I waited until she sped in, almost damaging her car, before pulling into a spot, got out and rushed over to me.
"Oh Archie-kins. I rushed right over. What kind of favor do you need? Fashion advice? To go shopping? I'll help anyway I can." Ronnie said with a mix of joy and worry.
"No no, not any of that. But, uh, thank you though." I say to her.
"Well then what?" She questioned me.
"Well, I injured my fingers yesterday and-" I started but Ronnie took my hands and gasped at my fingers.
"Oh Archie-kins, you poor thing. Do you need me to play nurse?" She asked me before gently kissing my fingers. I blushed and nearly drooled at the thought of her in a nurse's costume, probably having a dopey face on, but shook my head of all the thoughts.
"No no, as nice as that is, I need help typing up a weird mystery by tomorrow." I say to her. She looked at me in shock.
"What?~" She gasped out in a slightly exaggerated tone. I ignored it and continued.
"Please Ronnie, Betty can't cause she's busy, Aria can't cause she's busy, I don't trust Reggie, Jughead won't help, you're my last hope. I mean, you told me on our last date you loved my articles, so nows your chance to write one yourself." I explain to her. She looked away, almost as if she was ashamed but I figured it was because she was thinking.
"Well..." She started but looked back at me. Yeah, I was pulling the puppy eyes on her. She could never resist that.
"How can I say no to my cute little Archie-kins." She said before kissing my cheek.
"Thanks Veronica." I say before giving her my laptop.
"I owe you big time." I say happily. She gave me a smile as she held my rented laptop close to her.
"Not a problem." She said to me. I walked her inside, let her put the laptop away, then walked with her to homeroom. She was a huge life savor.
*End of school Aria's POV*
I said goodbye to Jughead before heading to the principle's office. I shook away memories before knocking.
"Enter." I heard before entering.
"Principle Weatherbee?" I questioned to make sure he wasn't busy.
"Ah, Miss Andrews, please come in. What do I owe the pleasure?" He asked me as I went in, closed the door then sat in front of him.
"I was told I would need at least three after school activities to put on my college application to better my chances." I say to him.
"Well, yes. Oh yes, you were out sick the day of the assembly so you were not informed." Mr. Weatherbee said in confusion before realizing why I didn't know.
"I'm already in the news club, I only need two more. Is there any clubs open I could attend?" I asked him.
"Only Cheerleading I'm afraid." Mr. Weatherbee said a bit sadly. I was upset, but I had an Idea.
"Well, I know Big Ethel made a Bee Club for the school, is there any way I could make a club for the school? One that competes and everything?" I asked him.
"Well, I suppose you could. But I would also have to have the school board approve of it and then you'd have to win at least one competition for the club to stay and be funded." He explains to me.
"Then I'll happily do it! It'll look even better on my application!" I say joyfully.
"Do you have any ideas on what club?" He asked me. My joyful mood faultered a bit.
"Well, no. I would need time." I say to him.
"I'll tell you what, I'll give you 1 month to form a club with members. If you can do that, then I'll talk to the school board. If not, then I can't do much." He tells me.
"I'll figure it out by then. Thank you sir." I say, politely shook his hand, then left his office. Now I had to go get Reggie's niece and babysit the little cutie pie.
*Veronica's POV*
* Why did I agree to do this?* I thought as as I sat in Pop's diner, bored out of my mind. After a few more minutes, I huffed and closed the computer.
"Uhg, I hate this. I'd rather go shopping!" I complained before leaning into my hand with a huff.
*Why did I let those cute puppy eyes of his distract me? Uhg, I wish Archie hadn't done that. I wish Aria wasn't busy.* I thought to myself, failing to notice Reggie had entered the shop until I saw him right in front of me.
"Beat it, Reggie." I said in an annoyed tone. I was still upset with him over the voodoo dolls.
"Who dumped trash on your lawn of happiness." Reggie said in a snarky tone as he took my drink and began drinking it. That's fine, he can have it. My diet soda became warm and the ice melted anyhow.
"Archie. He stuck me with this stupid article, especially since Aria couldn't help, and I can't think of a single thing to write about.~" I whined and complained to Reggie in annoyance.
"You mean carrot top is giving you complete control over his weird mystery column?" Reggie asked, seemingly interested in it but something seemed off on it. I couldn't tell, since I'd been here for a whole hour already.
"Yes, and the only weird mystery I can think of it 'why am I the only one in Riverdale to have any fashion sense?'" I say in such an annoyed tone. It felt good to vet, even if it was to Reggie.
"Don't you worry your pretty little head about this nasty old assignment." Reggie said as he took the computer from in front of me and slid it over to himself with a smile.
"Reggie Mantle will take over the reporter chores." He adds, gesturing to himself, as his smile grew. I should've been worried or upset, but I was relieved instead.
*I'm sure Archie-kins won't mind one bit. Besides, I have more important things to do.* I thought as I smiled.
"You mean that?!" I asked excitedly, but grabbed my purse and didn't even let Reggie answer.
"City mall, here I come!" I say excitedly before hurrying out. What harm could he do? After all, it's just a dumb article.
*Reggie's POV*
*I can't believe it! It worked! That was easier than I thought.* I thought as I watched Veronica walk out the door with a sly smirk planted on my face.
"I'll write the dumbest article in history! Then I'll put Archie's name on it! He'll be the laughing stock of the school!" I said to myself with a chuckle after.
*Oh, I better leave Aria out of this one, though. Only Archie needs to be humiliated.* I thought to myself, failing to notice the temporary green glow from the computer. I did, however, hear chuckling. I looked around but shrugged.
"Must be an echo in here." I thought before opening up the computer.
"Time for some mischief." I said devilishly as I rotated my wrists, a form of stretching I usually did before typing, before I got ready to type.
*Third Person's POV*
Reggie looked at the computer with an evil grin, not aware of what evil was inside that computer, for all he thought about was humiliating Archie Andrews.
"I just wish I could make this dumb story come true, that would be a hoot!" Reggie said out loud, unaware of what he just started.
"Your first wish has been granted." The being inside the computer said to him.
"Who said that?" Reggie asked as he looked behind him. The problem was, no one was there. It was almost empty today. Reggie shrugged before he began typing while talking to himself.
"Archie's Weird Mysteries, sorry but no help from Aria today readers. Hello dear readers, I want to tell you today about a horrible monster that appeared here in Riverdale today!" As Reggie types, the story comes to life in a quiet part of Riverdale. Outside of Jughead's house, actually. Now, if you guessed he was asleep, you'd be right. Jughead had just set up his hammock a couple minutes ago and was now snoozing away, dreaming sweet dreams about burgers as Reggie began typing more.
"My friend Jughead was relaxing in his hammock and then it happened!" Reggie said and typed as Jughead was awoken by the earth shaking.
"A horrific howl bellowed from beneath the streets!" Reggie continued as the sound was loud enough to pop the sewer lid off.
"Jughead fell out of his hammock in disbelief, for what happened next was beyond human understanding!" Reggie continued as Jughead fell out of his hammock while yelling. Jughead then got up and gasped at the sight before him while stuttering from fear.
"The hideous creature tore it's way up from the bellows below towered over Jughead." Reggie described as a giant odd snapping turtle of sorts, alligator snapping turtle to be precise, with bluish skin and twice the size of Jughead, broke through from the sewer, and the blacktop, while roaring in rage. This caused Jughead to scream. Jughead's scream caused the creature to look right at him, eyes of blue and red narrowed as sharp teeth grew and protruded from his mouth.
"The beast had sharp saber tooth fangs, deadly horns, and a rash on it's belly!" Reggie continued while the beast grew fangs, upwards from the back, opposite like a saber tooth tiger, long horns on it's head, between the eyes and on his nose while then sprouting a super bad rash on it's belly/chest shell. Honestly? It looked like a realistic, more accurate colored, hairless, rash infested, nightmare version of Bowser from the Mario games. The beast grew irritated and scratched the rash to relieve it while Jughead was frozen from fright.
"Jughead tried to hide behind a tree, but the creature blasted it with his flame thrower breath!" Reggie typed out while talking. After that, Jughead hid behind the tree but, true to Reggie's words, the beast had fire breath and burned the tree lightly, leaving scorch marks on one side but still sturdy.
"The tree saved Jughead's life." Reggie added as a, now shaken, Jughead opened his eyes, after being closed from fear, to see the grass in front of him was singed but no marks on him.
"But the creature had another trick up his shell." Reggie continued his tale as the monster gained a glint in it's eye. While Jughead was shaken with fear, Reggie was giddy at how this far fetched tale was turning out, unaware of how real it's becoming.
"Laser beam eyes." Reggie wildly added as the creature shot lasers fro it's eyes right at the tree where Jughead was hiding, destroying it down to a stump, while poor Jughead held his head in fetal position from fright. The creature then stomped over to the stump, which made Jughead look up, as it opened it's mouth to reveal every sharp tooth it had in it's mouth. This caused Jughead's eyes to go wide, skin go pale and shake with a faint gasp as he felt it's breath among him.
"There was nothing to save Jughead now!" Reggie continued as the creature lunged back, ready to devour poor, defenseless Jughead.
"When suddenly, something miraculous happened!" Reggie suddenly blurted out. This caused something different to happen. The creature stopped as something else caught it's attention.
A bird.
The bird glided and flew in front of the beast, elegantly and majestic like, as the creature became entranced by how the bird flew.
"Jughead whimpered in fear, hiding his head under his arms, before hearing the creatures footsteps heading away from him.
"What?" Jughead muttered as he looked up. The monster now had it's back towards Jughead, watching the bird fly around beautifully.
"The monster saw a bird flying by. Fascinated, it sprouted jet rockets and took off!" Reggie added to this wild tale. Jughead watched in awe as a pair of rockets appeared onto the back of the beast's shell, obviously not being there before but didn't quite grow, almost as if it just magically appeared, before it took off into the sky. Actually, it went straight up into space.
"The creature took off into space, never to be seen again." Reggie added as Jughead just watched in pure shock and terror, wondering what had just happened and why it happened to be him. If you're wondering what happened to him next, well, the poor guy fainted from all of this. Good thing his mother was home to help him out.
*Reggie's POV*
"And so, dear readers, ends another weird mystery, which I swear on a stack of bibles is absolutely, positively true. Even the rash part. Honest and truly. The end!" I said as I finished typing, not even care if it was how it was usually written or not, just as long as Archie gets humiliated.
"Wait until the editor gets a hold of this!" I say as I sent a copy to the editor before closing the computer with a devilish grin.
"Archie will be the biggest joke on campus!" I add as my devilish grin turned into a Grinch like smile. I didn't care one bit. I then realized something… How was Archie going to get the computer back? I leaned back and thought before smirking.
*Aria's babysitting Amy. Maybe I could say Veronica left it after typing and I happened to find it. I just hope she buys it.* I thought before taking the computer and driving home. I was just happy I wasn't grounded anymore.
*Aria's POV*
Watching Amy was loads of fun! She's sweet, adorable, energetic and was nothing like Reggie! She remembered me from the daycare, back with Cinamadness, so she warmed up to me quickly. We had gone to the park and played for a while, mainly me chasing her, pushing her on the swings, catching her on the slide etc, then we went to her house and played dress up with some old clothes in the attic, that actually looked cool, before putting make up on her. We then had a tea party with her toys before we did a little dance party. I was tired, not used to this much energy, while she seemed to by hyped up on sugar. I put in a Disney movie for her, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, as we sat and rested. She happily ate popcorn while I got up and checked the time. I was here for almost 4 hours, just like Reggie had said. I sighed before hearing a car door shut. I got curious and looked out before sighing. It was Reggie. He came in with a grin.
"Hey, how was Amy?" He asked me as he held a familiar rental laptop.
"Reggie, why do you have Archie's rental computer?" I questioned him.
"Oh, it's Archie's?" He asked me in a shocked like tone.
"Yes, Veronica was supposed to have it. So why do you have it?" I asked him as I tapped my foot with my arms folded.
"I thought it was yours, I found it at Pop's. It said A. Andrews." He tells me as he shows me. It did say A. Andrews on the label.
"So Veronica left it by accident?" I questioned.
"Probably. When I saw her leaving, she said something about shopping." Reggie said with a shrug. I groaned in annoyance.
"That girl." I say before taking the computer.
"I'll give it to Arch. Thank you Reggie." I say, actually meaning it, before putting it in my bag. I usually left it next to the door, just because.
"Glad to have helped, though if I had known it was Archie's, I would've snooped through." He tells me. I roll my eyes.
"Well, I'm glad you didn't." I say before looking at him.
"What manageress hit you?" He asked me as he looked me up and down. I looked at myself, being in mismatch clothes, before blushing. That's when Amy popped up.
"Uncle Reggie!" She cried out before running, as fast as her little feet in over sized heels would let her, right to him.
"We played dress up, had a tea party, had a sing a long party and we look like pretty ladies!" She said excitedly. Bless her little heart.
"Oh really? Well, you sounded like you had loads of fun." Reggie said sweetly as he, happily, picked his niece up. I swear, if Reggie wasn't such a jerk, he'd be the perfect guy! That's when her parents came in. Amy happily, with a squeal of delight to follow, showed her parents the outfit she put together for herself before showing what she did to me. They chuckled while the mom went to get her cleaned up.
"I'm sorry about the mess. I could stay and clean up, if needed." I say as I pulled off the layer of clothes to reveal my tank top and short.
"No no, you're fine. Thank you for watching her. She seems to adore you an awful lot. Could you come back next week to watch her?" Reggie's brother asked me.
"I'll check my schedule, but I should be free." I say with a smile.
"Want me to put your stuff away and get the car seat?" Reggie asked me. I had almost forgotten he was there.
"Yes, thank you. That'd be great." I say, deciding I should trust him, before he takes my bag, with my keys hanging on them, then heads out to my car. "How much do I owe you?" Oliver asked me. Yes, no lie, that's his brother's name.
"Usually it's $35 for 4 hours, but I'll bunk it to $20 just because Amy's a delight and because Reggie is an acquaintance." I say to him, not even hiding the fact I didn't call Reggie a friend. Oliver understood why too.
"Well, I think that's too little. I would love for you to keep babysitting Amy. She just adores you." He said happily before pulling out some cash.
"And I adore the little princess." I say happily to him. I really did. I shouldn't have favorites, but she was one of my favorites to watch. Her, Clarice, Luke and Duke and then, of course, little Jellybean. They were my favorites of all times to watch. Betty didn't mind me 'stealing' her clients, heck she's the one who set me up with them, plus we swap at times to adjust to our schedules. Heck, we could make more money if we did a babysitting industry.
*Mental note, talk to Betty about getting more girls together to open a babysitting service to earn more money.* I thought to myself.
"I'll make sure to try and give you at least 3 days notice if we need you again." He tells me as he hands me a $50. I was shocked he gave this to me.
"Oh, um, I think I have change for you. I just need to get-" I started but he cut me off.
"No, that's your payment for watching her. Especially since this was last minute for you." He said with a smile. I was shocked but smiled.
"Thank you, I'll work around my schedule to watch her again." I say with a bright smile. Yes, the extra cash helps, but I'd do it even with smaller pay if it meant helping out.
"That's great! Amy will look forward to seeing you next Thursday!" He said happily. I thanked him again before leaving. I saw Reggie had the car seat and nothing seemed out of place with my car.
"Thank you Reggie." I say with a smile.
"No problem. Oh, one more thing I have to ask." Reggie said as he stopped me from getting in the car. I tilted my head curiously at him.
"Could you not tell Archie about me finding the computer? I don't want to be accused of taking it." Reggie says to me.
"Well, alright. I won't." I say to him.
"Thanks." He says with a smile before going into his brother's house. Now, I should've been suspicious, but I figured he was actually trying to change and be nice. Big Mistake! I stopped by Archie's and dropped of his computer, stating Veronica left it at Pop's Diner, then headed home. I thought it was odd I didn't hear from Jughead, but I figured he thought I was busy and would be tired. Dad and Uncle Fred went off on another business trip, nothing new, but when I got home my front door was unlocked and slightly ajar. I cautiously went inside and looked around. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Just in case, I grabbed the wireless phone and called the sheriff.
"Sheriff's office." I heard on the other end.
"Sheriff, it's Aria Andrews." I say in a low tone as I stepped lightly.
"Miss Andrews? Is something wrong?" He asked me.
"I just got home and my front door was unlocked and left slightly open. My father left for a trip and we both didn't leave the door like that. I'm inside looking around, but I don't notice anything missing nor anyone here. Could you please send someone down here? Just to check for fingerprints?" I asked quietly into the phone.
"Not a problem, though I suggest you go back into your car right away." He tells me. We both knew I could handle myself, but after the last time with the morpholomew DNA coming out I guess it would be safer.
"Right, I'll do that." I say as I quietly went outside. I mean, for all I knew, it could be a mugger with a gun.
It only took 10 minutes until the sheriff himself, his deputy and 3 men showed up. They went in, gun's ready, to search the place. After a while I got the clear to go in. They dusted the doorknob while I looked around. I didn't find anything valuable missing. My jewelry was here, the cash was still here too, it seemed like everything was still here. I checked my room and everything seemed in order, but I noticed a few small things were moved, like my hair brush, a couple pieces of my make up, a picture frame, my closet door being open, just minor things like that. I pointed this out and they dusted everything. I felt violated but I had to stay strong. I looked around more, feeling as if something was wrong but couldn't place it, as I kept looking around my room. Nothing was missing, though. This bothered me a lot, but the sheriff thinks I might've misplaced a few things. I assured him, while I could be a bit messy at times, I tend to be organized with my things. They found no prints, figuring the perp wore gloves, but the oddest thing was there were no prints at all! Not even mine! So all I could do was change the locks. I called dad and let him know before calling Archie to ask him for help. He came over, with a lock smith that dad called and paid for, changed the locks with new keys, I packed a bag and left to spend the night at Archie's once everyone left.
"Thanks Arch." I say as I sunk in the couch. My car was behind his, which was fine, right in his driveway.
"Hey, no problem." Archie said as he handed me some peach juice.
"Do you think Vinnie broke in?" He asked me as I took a sip.
"I, actually, doubt that. This seems too smart for him." I say as I set the cup down.
"Well, you can stay here as long as you need to." He says to me.
"Thanks. You're a great cousin." I say before hugging him. He hugged me back. After finishing my juice, we went to bed. I got to sleep in my old room, memories flooding back, as I lulled to sleep.
*Next day Reggie's POV*
I was in the editor's office early that morning and printed the story to show her. Why was I hear early? Well, not only so Aria and Archie couldn't protest and stop me, but also because I needed to be on the field in 30 min, with everyone else on the team, to talk about track practice schedules and the three main tournaments coming up. Anyway, back to the teacher. She read it over in shock.
"A flying turtle with laser eyes?" She questioned out loud.
"Yup, totally ridiculous, right?" I asked her smugly.
"Wrong! It's totally fabulous! An accurate account of the turtle attack!" She said happily to me as she looked up, face full of joy over this junk. I was surprised, I'm sure my face showed it, unsure of what she actually meant.
"For once, our school has an exclusive story! Cynthia Kim has scooped the city newspaper." She marveled. I was at a loss.
"Are you nuts?! This is all make believe! Flame breath for crying out loud!" I scolded with a loud voice. It was ridiculous! How could she believe this! Has everyone lost their minds?!
"But those are the very same things Jughead keeps mumbling about!" She tells me suddenly. I was shocked about that one.
"What?!" I shouted in shock. She pointed out the door and I saw Jughead enter, rambling on about certain things, no not things, details about the bogus story I typed. Aria soon came in and tried to comfort him.
"Calm down, Jughead. Here, come and sit." She said as she sat him down. I was in shock over this whole thing. How was it possible.
"Reggie? What are you doing here?" Aria asked me.
"He sent me a story Archie wrote! It's the best, and most accurate, story yet!" Miss Kim said proudly. Aria raised an eyebrow.
"Reggie, you said Veronica did that." She tells me.
"I said she left the laptop, I never said anything else." I defended. Aria's eyes narrowed.
"But this makes sense after reading Archie's fantastic article!" Miss Kim added. Now, since this story ended up real, why let Archie get the glory?
"No no no, you got it wrong!" I say before snatching the paper.
"I wrote that article, not Archie!" I boasted. I saw no down side to this.
"You?" Miss Kim suddenly asked in shock.
"That's right! I deserve all the credit!" I boasted with a wink.
"Then it looks like I found a new star reporter." Miss Kim said happily as she smiled joyfully. I smiled with pride over this. I didn't know how this happened, but I saw no down side whatsoever. Miss Kim got to work as Aria grabbed my arm.
"Reggie, outside, now!" She said before she dragged me out into the hall. I yelped when she did this.
"You lied to me! Again!" She scolded me quietly.
"What? Are you jealous that my story is true and a success?" He asked me.
"Most of Archie's, and so far all of mine, are true as well. Why would you do this? This article means more to Archie, as well as myself, than to you! You think it's dumb! Why do this? Also, you told me Ronnie typed it!" She scolded me harshly.
"She didn't want to and asked me to while she went shopping. So what if what I wrote was true and fabulous?" I tell her in a boastful tone. She was mad now, but I didn't care.
"Reggie! You're an awful person! I was just starting to think you'd learn your lesson after the voodoo dolls, but I guess I was wrong. You're a jerk and that'll never change!" She scolded harshly. I did feel bad for lying to her, I actually did, but I only cared about one upping Archie.
"Hey, I've changed!" I defended harshly.
"No you haven't! You're jealous of Archie and take credit for stuff you shouldn't! Don't you understand that you doing this hurts everyone around you?" She scolded harshly. I crossed my arms.
"No they don't." I defended.
"Really? The aliens where they sent a robot you, the time with the voodoo dolls, the time you messed with Dilton's potion and became invisible, the time with bullying Archie into one upping you in that video game, the time you brought movie monsters out just for a girl you love, not to mention the time with the love bug and not letting me cured, plus there was the time you got greedy with the pirate treasure, also the time you-." She started listing things off but I cut her off.
"Okay okay, but this is different! I'm tired of Archie this and Archie that! I want to be noticed too! Is that wrong?" I scolded her suddenly. She got upset and started balling her hands into fists before taking a deep breath.
"Look, all I want to know is how'd you know what happened to Jughead?" She asked me calmly.
"That's my secret." I tell her with a wink. To tell the truth, I didn't know at all. Aria sighed in annoyance.
"Promise me you won't let this go to your head? Last thing we need is for you to cause trouble." She tells me.
"I won't, but I need Archie's computer back." I tell her. Her eyes narrowed.
"What, why?" She asked me.
"Well, first off I need a computer and that one's perfect, second I paid for it so, legally speaking, I can use it." I tell her. She wanted to defend but frowned when she knew I was right.
"Archie's going to be mad." She tells me.
"Relax, he can just use yours." I tell her as she gives me his computer. She sighed.
"Reggie… You're improbable." She tells me in annoyance.
"Maybe, but aren't you tired of him getting attention too? Well, probably not since you Andrews have the tendency to be center of attention at all times. I guarantee, you have one female in this school who's just as jealous of you as I am of Archie." I tell her. She sighs and shakes her head.
"No reason too. I'm nice, you're a jerk." She tells me. I brushed her off.
"Whatever. Hey, maybe you could help me?" I asked her.
"Why? Not capable of doing it?" She asked in a sarcastic tone.
"Nevermind. I don't need you. I just thought it'd be nice to share credit with a nice girl, but now I'm doing it alone. I don't need you Andrews." I say before leaving. I heard her make a noise and stomp her foot in annoyance as I headed off. I smirked at this.
*I can be better than both Andrews now!* I thought happily as I held the computer close.
*Aria's POV*
I was so~ pissed off! How dare he! Reggie was always doing things to one up Archie and now he was doing this to spite me too! All because I'm an Andrews! Now I had to tell Archie everything! But first, to chew out Veronica. I looked in the room and saw Jughead was calming down now. After knowing that, I stormed off to find Veronica. Students were pouring in and she would be here soon. I went outside and saw her with Archie. I stormed over and grabbed Veronica.
"Are you stupid!" I scolded her.
"What? What did I do?" She asked innocently.
"If you didn't want to type that story, then you should've told Archie instead of lying that you would! And, to make it worse, you let Reggie type it?! Now he's taking credit for it and it was true too! Everything he typed!" I screamed at her. This shocked the both of them.
"I-I'm sorry, but I couldn't think of anything!" Veronica defended.
"You only thought about shopping! You could've declined or called me for help! Seriously, that was irresponsible and dumb! Now Reggie's keeping the temp computer from Archie, legally too since he paid for it, to continue these stories! Miss Kim's keeping him in the paper club and, if we're not careful, Archie and I might get kicked out! You know this article means a lot to both of us! Mostly Archie! Also you know I need this to get into college! Why the hell did you let Reggie, of all people, do that! I could've had Tyrone, Ronin, Midge, Big Ethel, Jimmy, Robbie, Geoff, Collins, Dilton, Tyler or anyone else help you or take over if you had called me! Not Reggie! The guy who tries to ruin Archie's life or one up him any chance he gets!" I scolded her very harshly. She cringed and felt bad.
"I-I'm so~ sorry. I didn't think it'd be bad." She said as she genuinely felt bad. I sighed after that.
"I guess it's fine. Now we need to figure out how he knew what to type. He wouldn't tell me." I say to them.
"Great! Now I might have to fight for a story!" Archie says as he felt upset.
"We'll figure it out, we always do." I say to comfort him. Truth be told, I wasn't sure how to help with this. Reggie wouldn't give up and this didn't seem like it'd go away. This was bad, but I felt like something was off.
*Why do I feel like this is a weird mystery in the making?* I thought to myself curiously. It seemed like one. Maybe it wasn't, but knowing our luck, it probably was. Hopefully not a dangerous one.
*Time Skip Aria's POV*
It was now mid-day, everyone read the article, and my blood was boiling as I saw Betty and Veronica congratulating Reggie. Yes, Veronica was sorry, but she was now fawning over Reggie after reading the story. This made my blood boil more, as it did Archie's. Everyone was acknowledging Reggie, praising him and more, never really once with me and Archie, as Reggie's ego inflated more and more. What made this worse was Miss Kim kicked both me and Archie off the weird mystery article and kept Reggie on, making it Reggie's Weird Mysteries as of today. Archie was super pissed and I felt like I was in tears from this. Archie went to confront Reggie while I stayed behind. Midge and Ethel were comforting me through this.
"I can't believe Reggie got you both kicked off the paper." Midge tells me.
"I needed that for college. All other clubs are filled up too. How am I supposed to go to college now?" I asked as I felt tears threatening to spill.
"Reggie is a jerk, that's all." Big Ethel said to me. We then heard a throat clear.
"Ladies." Reggie greeted. Midge and BE glared at him.
"Please, go away. You've done enough damage." I said in a low tone.
"Could I speak to Aria alone?" Reggie asked.
"I don't think you should." Midge said as she crossed her arms.
"Please? I just wanna talk." Reggie asked. I sighed, knowing he wouldn't quit.
"Ok Reggie, let's talk." I say as I kept my head down.
"You sure?" Midge asked me. I nodded.
"Just stand outside please." I say softly. They didn't argue but glared at Reggie before leaving. Reggie shut the door and came over to me.
"What?" I asked in a snapped tone.
"Listen, Archie told me you two were kicked off the paper because of my article." Reggie tells me.
"Yeah, you happy now?" I asked in a snapped tone.
"Normally, yeah I would, but I didn't want you kicked out." He tells me. I caught a glimpse to show he meant it too.
"Well, you win. Archie and I no longer get the paper and I will have a harder time going to college. Course, you're rich so that shouldn't matter." I say to him in a snapped tone.
"As true as that is, I still feel bad that you got kicked off the paper." He tells me. I just sighed and ignored him.
"That's why I'm not taking the column from either of you." He suddenly says. I snapped up and looked at him.
"What?" I questioned him.
"Yeah, I decided not too. You going to college is what stopped me." He tells me. He meant it too. He noticed a tear and wiped it away.
"I didn't mean to upset you." He tells me.
"Ok, but why give us the paper back?" I questioned.
"Well, I used my sources to get a job at the town's paper. I'm going to be working for the real paper instead." He tells me as he showed a bit of pride.
"But that's Archie's dream." I tell him.
"Well, then he can work harder. Until then, I'm making something of myself." He tells me. I looked at him before smacking him. He yelped as the smack echoed.
"You're a jerk! I'm grateful you gave the article back, but how can you take someone else's dream just because?! That makes you a dream smasher! You're always mean to Archie, but he's never mean to you unless you start problems! That's why girls dislike you! Jerk!" I yelled before storming off. BE and Midge followed me as I tried to cool off.
"Hey, don't let him bother you." Midge tells me.
"He stole Archie's dream! How am I supposed to react?! All because his father works for the paper!" I nearly scream as I kicked the wall very hard but yelped when it hurt my foot.
"What?!" They screamed out. I told them what happened and they were shocked.
"Just forget him! Let's go get lunch, then maybe see a movie after school. That'll help you feel better." BE suggested. I sighed but nodded.
"Alright. Good idea." I say as I tried to calm down. Perhaps it was a good idea. They went to lunch, but I flaked and went to the girls locker room, put in my earbuds and listened to my music very loudly, unaware of the events Reggie had caused.
*Reggie's POV*
I went to the library and sat down before I went into thought.
*What's going on here? I wrote about something I never even saw. How did I do that? Am I psychic? No, if I was then it would've happened sooner, right? What if I can't do it again? What am I going to do? What am I going to write about?* I thought to myself before glancing over at a table. There was a book on a table near me. I decided to go and see what it was about.
"Martian Attack USA." I read the cover out loud after picking it up.
*I remember this book. Gosh, it's been a couple years since I had to read this.* I thought before a light bulb went off. I brought the book over to the table and smiled as I pulled out the laptop.
"That's it! I'll steal this science fiction idea! And no one will ever know! And I'll take all the credit!" I say happily as I opened the computer.
"I only wish this story would be as good as the last one." I say with my eyes closed, as if I was making an actual wish. I didn't hear the voice tell me my second wish was granted nor did I see the eyes on the screen.
"Okay. Here goes." I say as I opened my eyes to begin. (I also love how, in this scene, Reggie went from a tee shirt to a long sleeve. LMAO!)
*Third Person's POV*
"It was a sunny afternoon at Riverdale High, when suddenly, dark clouds covered the sun! The whole sky in fact!" Reggie started typing his sci-fi tale while it came to life. Anyone outside was looking up in shock at how the clouds rolled in very quickly.
"There was something hiding in those clouds. Something alien." Reggie continued as a weird type of sound, a mix of machine and laser, came from the clouds above.
"It was a Martian saucer!" Reggie stated as the ship appeared from the clouds. Everyone ran away, except Archie who was just staring in shock.
"A round metallic ship started shooting lasers at students!" Reggie continued his tale as the ship shot lasers at Archie, causing him to run, Moose and others in the way.
"Everyone was in a panic! That is, until Principle Weatherbee suddenly appeared to maintain order." Reggie typed and talked as Principle Weatherbee appeared out of no where.
"Keep calm everyone! Everyone head to the exits!" Principle Weatherbee ordered.
"But sir, we're outside!" Betty pointed out to him.
"Oh… Then… Head for the entrances!" He ordered as he turned and pointed to them. Everyone did as told and ran as fast as they could inside.
"Unfortunately, the aliens decided to abduct the principle for their fiendish experiments!" Reggie added. That's when the ship sent a beam onto Principle Weatherbee and made him hover up into the ship, all the while he was screaming for help, the help that would not arrive, or so he thought.
"Archie Andrews tried to help, but as usual, he was worthless!" Reggie added, an extra blow to Archie slipped in there just for fun, as he continued the story. As that was going on, Archie heard the principle's cries and ran to help. He tried to jump up and grab the Principle's feet, but missed and landed very hard on his arm. Nothing broke, thank goodness, but landing on the concrete will surely leave a large bruise.
"Help! Somebody help me!" Principle Weatherbee cried out in fear as he was hovered higher and higher. Archie looked up, both in fright and despair that he couldn't save Principle Weatherbee. Reggie stopped typing for a moment as he thought about what to type next. It had to be good. No, not good. Fantastic! But what? This is what he pondered for 10 seconds before the idea hit him like a whip.
"It looked like there was only one person man enough to handle this situation." He said as he typed quickly. The Principle was even closer to the ship as Reggie hurried to type.
"Reggie Mantle!" He boasted proudly about himself.
"Throwing his own shoe, he managed to hit the only vulnerable part of the saucer!" Reggie typed on. As soon as he finished that sentence, he was then teleported outside to the attack, holding his shoe in his left hand, because he's a lefty, while holding the laptop under his right arm. He looked around in shock as he saw his story was becoming real.
"Holy smokes! This is really happening!" Reggie gawked in shock, amazement and a tint of fear. Reggie saw the ship and had a sudden urge to throw his shoe, almost as if he couldn't control it.
"Must. Throw. Shoe!" Reggie uttered out as he threw his shoe as hard as he could right at the ship. Principle Weatherbee still cried for help as the shoe, as foretold, hit a weak point of the ship. A pipe of sorts, which busted and caused the ship to malfunction. Thanks to this, the ship's beam lowered Principle Weatherbee instead of lifting him, all the while the ship had electricity circulating around it. Reggie looked away before sitting and typing.
"The ship was severely damaged thanks to Reggie's heroic act. And it let go of Principle Weatherbee , retreating to Mars, the ship left Riverdale for good! The sunny day returned and everyone congratulated Reggie Mantle. The end!" Reggie finished as everything he typed happened while he did so. Reggie was smug and proud, especially when everyone gathered around him. Mr. Weatherbee came over and rested a hand on his shoulder after Reggie got up and look at the crowd with a prideful smile.
"This boy is a hero! I proclaim today, in the school anyway, Reggie Mantle Day! No school today!" Principle Weatherbee announced happily, causing everyone to cheer. Everyone, except Archie Andrews. While Reggie was being carried off, being called a hero, as Jughead went over and helped Archie up.
"You ok?" Jughead asked his best friend.
"No. there's something weird about Reggie's stories." Archie tells him. That's when Aria, who had been in the locker room until the end, had seen the ship from outside the window and bolted out to find her cousin.
"What in blue blazes happened?!" Aria gawked out. Archie told her what happened and Aria went into thought.
"It seems odd how everything he writes comes true, just as or before it happens." Aria muttered as she looked and saw Reggie soaking up the fame and glory. This made her sick to her stomach, especially if it was staged in any way instead of being true blue like all the others. Archie felt the same as he scratched his head in thought.
"I call this a weird mystery." Archie pondered.
"I do too." Aria agreed.
"How'd I know you two were going to say that?" Jughead asked them rhetorically. As Archie thought, Aria gasped at a sudden thought.
"What?" Archie asked her.
"Well, before all this happened, the day I got your computer, Jughead and myself stopped inside Dr. Beaumont's shop! I had rested the computer down on a shelf!" Aria recalled, also remembering she took her eyes off it.
"Yeah, and?" Jughead asked her.
"We all had our eyes off it. Maybe something cursed touched it! We need to get down there!" Aria stated before grabbing both of them and rushed them to her car. Archie, because of his injured fingers, couldn't drive well and had Veronica drive him that day. Aria wasted no time and bolted there faster than a race car driver driving the last lap in a race. The boys were panicking as she turned the car and, literally, slid right into the spot like in most action movies.
"Remind me to ask you how you did that." Archie said before they got out and went into the shop.
*Aria's POV*
I felt bad. This whole thing could've been my fault from the start. Archie knocked but I rolled my eyes and went in.
"Doctor Beaumont! It's an emergency!" I called out before noticing him looking into a jar.
"Doctor Beaumont? Sorry to disturb you, but we need to pick your brain." Archie piped up.
"Not now." He replied before opening a German beer jug.
"Hello? Are you in there? Speak up!" Doctor Beaumont yelled inside.
"I don't think there's a brain there to pick." Jughead says quietly to us. Archie shushed him before I continued.
"Did you lose something?" I questioned him, hoping it was a moving item and not anything magical thats dangerous.
"It got out." Dr. Beaumont said as he looked through the clear bottom of the jug at us.
"A magical creature that's dangerous, huh?" I asked in a deadpan tone. Yup, our luck.
"Yes, exactly!" He proclaimed loudly.
"What did?" Archie asked curiously. I took notice of the jar, now broken on the side, that I had seen yesterday. The computer was next to it, I remember that much.
"The Genie from this bottle. He got out through this crack." He tells us.
"More like he's cracked." Jughead said but Archie nudged him.
"Are you serious? A real genie?" Archie questioned in amazement.
"Oh~ yes. A real genie. An evil genie." He warns us as he gave a serious look.
"So, not like the genies from 'Aladdin' and 'I Dream Of Jeanie' but like 'After three wishes I will be free and I will do something unspeakable' Evil?" I questioned him.
"Exactly!" He proclaimed as he kept searching.
"But he's here in my shop! Genies must hide in jars, once inside they can only hide in objects until they are able to grant three wishes!" He continued. I felt my blood go cold.
"Um… He's not here." I say quietly.
"What?! Don't be daft, of course he is! No one came in or out except you two!" He proclaimed as he pointed at me and Jughead.
"Well, I left Archie's laptop next to the jar, remember? And..." I started but trailed off. That's when Doctor Beaumont realized it.
"My goodness! You're right! I had forgotten about the laptop!" Doctor Beaumont said in realization.
"No wonder Reggie's two stories were accurate! He wrote them, and then the genie made them come true!" Archie realized in total shock. That's when Doctor Beaumont rushed over and grabbed Archie, because he opened his mouth about that.
"Quick! You must find that boy and stop him from making a third wish! Otherwise, Riverdale will be doomed!" Doctor Beaumont demanded.
"If that genie gets out, then how can we stop it?" I asked him. We needed a backup plan, just in case.
"Unless you can trick him back into a bottle, you can't!" He scolded me while turning to look at me.
"Then we'll stop him." Archie tells him.
"How? You know how Reggie gets." I say to him.
"We can handle it, three against one." Archie tells me confidently. I sighed but agreed. I just hope we could. We got in and I drove faster than before back to the school.
"Aria! You're going to kill us!" Archie yelped out as him and Jughead held on.
"Relax, I've done this before." I said as I whipped around a corner.
"When?!" Archie cried out to me.
"During that time with Tyrone and Tyler when we played grand theft auto and Mario Kart." I tell him as I glided around the cars easily.
"Those were video games! Not reality!" Archie screamed as Jughead put his hands over his eyes. I drove all the way to the school and onto the sidewalk.
"Aria!" Archie cried as I sped right to the field. No fence was up, but the field was orange.
"Too late! He made the third wish!" I cried out but kept going. I saw a sports car suddenly appear and I screeched the car to a halt just 4 inches away. Unfortunately, I ruined the field a bit. Oops.
"Reggie! Stop!" Archie cried out as we all hopped out of the car, grateful my hood was down.
"Reggie, don't do it!" I called out as we got to the stairs.
"The end!" We heard Reggie call out as everyone applauded. We didn't hear the genie, but we saw green smoke escape the laptop. Reggie was too busy soaking up the fame to notice anything, until people noticed the smoke hovering above. This isn't going to be good.
Not.
One.
Bit.
*Third Person's POV*
The smoke was forming into a type of mist, which got Reggie's attention, before a giant green muscle man, pointy ears, bald, gold wristbands and belt, smoky tail and two sharp small lower teeth appeared before everyone in the sky.
"After 700 years, I'm finally free!" The genie called out loudly as it stretched and flexed. Everyone backed up while screaming. Even Vinnie Wells, though not sure why he bothered to show up, was backing up in fear. (No joke! He's in the crowd! Look up the episode on youtube under TBE entertainment. At 1730, you see a quick glimpse of him in the crowd. It's super quick so pause it!) Reggie, who was in shock, screamed the loudest out of them all.
"What is that thing?" Veronica asked as she and Betty held hands, close to each other in fear, as Betty was scared too.
"Bad news." Betty answered. The Genie laughed then gave an evil smile at all the humans as they backed up and muttered/screamed in fear.
"I've been cooped up for far too long! It's time to have some fun!" His voice boomed before he lowered down his face to the teens level. The teens, the ones in front of the ceremony stand, were in fear, for the genie's head was twice the size of their teenage heights.
"How about a barbecue!" He boomed loudly, smile showing how malicious his intents were, while eyes eyes glowed red. He rose up and made a giant rotisserie over a campfire on the field. It took up half of the field! The genie looked and smiled wider at the Principle.
"Ah! This one looks tasty!" The genie proclaimed before picking up Principle Weatherbee.
The Principle tried to hold onto the pole, but he wasn't strong enough and was hooked onto a small hook on the pole. The teens were trying to scatter but it was no use. The Genie reached out and ended up grabbing Jughead. Jughead cried for help, knowing now how a flame broiled burger felt, as Aria saw this and got upset. Principle Weatherbee called out to Reggie for help, claiming he had the power to stop all this. Everyone wanted Reggie to help and Reggie, believing he could, decided to face the genie.
"No one knew where the genie had come from, but with the wave of his hands, Reggie made him disappear!" Reggie typed and proclaimed before looking up at the genie and waved his hand.
"Reggie! It was the genie's magic, not you!" Aria scolded as she and Archie tried to find a jar or something. The genie laughed and got in Reggie's face.
"She's right! You have no powers! It was all me! Me and my magic! How dare you take credit for my deeds! I am the one who can give anything! And take them away!" He announced to the, now frightened, Reggie before picking up the sports car full of money and crushed it like it was nothing. Reggie was so scared, he hid behind Betty and Veronica while mumbling out a high pitched
"Mama." From seeing the car get crushed then dropped in front of all the teens. Aria looked at Archie.
"Find a jar or something to seal him in. I'll distract him." Aria told Archie before going to the genie.
"Hey, green fungus!" Aria called out in an angry tone. The genie looked right at her.
"You put those kids, and principle, down right now and leave us alone!" She scolded. The genie laughed at this.
"You're a spicy one! Why should I listen to you?" He boomed out.
"Because if you don't, I'll make you!" She retorted back. Archie looked then found a ketchup bottle.
"What makes you think you can?" The genie asked.
"Because you're acting like Reggie!" She cried out. The Genie stopped and glared at her.
"How so?" He asked curiously.
"I mean, be real! You say you have magic, and sure you did a few small things here and there, but how do we know you actually have powers? Reggie didn't!" Aria boldly asked the magical being. In her mind, she hoped Archie had a plan because she had no ideas at all!
"Pst. Leave me out of it!" Reggie exclaimed in a whispered tone. Aria only shot him a dirty look, one that said he started this and to shut it. Reggie knew the look well and slunk back behind the two teen girls he always tried to impress. The genie had smirked at how bold the girl was being. I wasn't often anyone stood up to him. It amused him greatly.
"Of course I have the power!" The genie boasted proudly.
"Well then, prove it." Aria taunted. She had seen Archie give her a small wave, a way to say he had a plan.
"Gladly! Give me an impossible task!" The genie demanded boldly.
"My cousin might have one, since I can't seem to think of one other than make Reggie a decent human being." Aria said as she motioned to Archie.
"Well, here's the most impossible thing on this planet." Archie started before he grabbed the ketchup bottle off of a picnic table.
"Getting ketchup out of a new bottle!" Archie proclaimed as he opened the new ketchup bottle. Archie was positive it would work while Aria was thinking this wouldn't be that simple. I mean, it took a powerful wizard to seal him up! How could it be as simple as tricking him? The genie would surly be smarter, right? Normally yes, but because the genie is like Reggie in personality, tricking him as such was perfect! Use his ego against him.
"Child's play! Hahaha! Shaking the bottle does no good! It must be pushed out! And when I am done. I shall punish you both for your insolence!" The genie boasted while Archie held the bottle up. All the while, the more the Genie talked, the more sly Archie's smile got. Archie knew this would happen. The genie then spun to make a type of tornado, pushing himself right into the bottle which, in turn, caused all of the ketchup to be pushed out. The tornado became smoke near the end until completely vanishing inside the bottle. Once inside, Archie closed the lid to the ketchup.
"Got him!" Archie happily proclaimed to everyone.
"Let me out! I mean it! I am all powerful! Please?!~" The genie exclaimed, voice high pitched instead of booming, as he shook the bottle Archie was holding.
"Sorry, I'm giving this to Doctor Beaumont so he can have this guarded forever." Archie told the genie on the bottle.
"Serves you right!" Aria added to the bottle before hugging her cousin. She was happy and grateful the plan worked. Archie saved the day! The genie whined as Betty proclaimed Archie did it.
"No! I did it! If I hadn't freed the genie, then Archie wouldn't have used the ketchup bottle to seal him out of the computer! He still would've been in there!" Reggie exclaimed while everyone glared at him. He whined about being adored while the Andrews cousins shook their heads.
"No, it's my fault because I went into the shop and it moved into the computer. It's also my fault for allowing Reggie to use the computer." Aria said before going over and snatching the rental from Reggie's hands.
"It is, however, your fault for always wanting to one up Archie! Why can't you just put your ego away for once and be civilized!" Aria said as she kicked him in the knee. Reggie yelped, holding his now hurt knee and hopping on one foot, before Aria went back to Archie and handed him the computer.
The cousins smiled, though none of the things that appeared by magic disappeared. Jughead, Principle Weatherbee and the other teens were released and, safely, put onto the ground and fire was put out thanks to the fire department. Yes, someone actually called them just as the genie was being taunted by Aria and Archie. Jughead ran to Archie and thanked him before pulling Aria into his arms and kissed her. After all, not only the two were dating, but both had saved his life. Principle Weatherbee was very grateful, so grateful in fact, that he revoked Reggie Mantle day and turned it into a day off called Hero's day! Name suggested by Aria. This day, from now on, would be a school holiday where you would have no school but had to do a good deed for the day! So how was the day spent? Simple. The gang, plus the side gang of Dilton, Midge, Moose and Big Ethel, went to Pop's and had a few rounds of burgers and shakes, after dropping off the bottle to Doctor Beaumont of course. Reggie, sadly enough for him, was forced to pay as an apology. All in all, a good day. The day was nearly over, as quickly as it happened, where Aria, Jughead and Archie were left. They all went to Archie's house to finish the article for next week, adding in Reggie's second tale as a gimmick, while Jughead waited patiently. Aria was typing for Archie, since his fingers were sore, then would bring Jughead home.
*Aria's POV*
"And so, the genie was locked away in a ketchup bottle and Riverdale was spared from destruction. Everything's pretty much back to normal, My fingers are healed but still sore so Aria is typing this out for me. In another day I will be able to type my- I mean, our newspaper articles again. ~Arhcie. But poor Jughead was so~ freaked out that he didn't eat hamburgers for a whole day! Well, most of the day. And Reggie learned how dangerous it is to take credit for something you didn't do. ~Aria. About time he learned too. ~Jughead. Jughead! ~Archie. We're supposed to type the end. ~Aria. Sorry, had to put my thoughts , but don't forget to mention Reggie's spot in the town's paper. ~Jughead. Oh yes, Reggie lost his spot because his father found out it was all made up and Reggie's fault that a genie almost caused destruction. As punishment, besides being kicked off the paper, Reggie was put into the paper to be humiliated. A form of punishment his father deemed fit. ~Aria. And until the grass grows out, the only place you can find an orange football field is in… ~Archie. A little town called Riverdale! ~Archie and Aria!~" I finished typing with a happy sigh.
"Ready, Jughead?" I asked him.
"Yup." Jughead said happily.
"Are you going to stay here another night?" Archie asked me. I shook my head no.
"No, I think I'll be ok." I say to him.
"Maybe you should stay here. Just to be safe." Jughead suggested.
"I'll be alright, really." I say with a smile. Jughead and I said bye to Archie before I began driving him home.
"I don't like the fact that you're home alone." Jughead tells me.
"My dad will be home tomorrow. I'll be fine." I say not so confidently. I was freaked out, but I needed to be fine.
"Well, then I'm staying over. No fighting with me, I'll just tell mom I'm staying with Archie." Jughead tells me as he crosses his arms. I wanted to fight but, seeing the look he gave me, I smiled in defeat.
"Alright." I agreed. I brought him to my house, made sure all was clear, then did my nightly routine. Jughead was happy to be here and set up the couch for a movie night. How could I refuse? We cuddled through a horror movie but when we played the second and third ones, well, we did more than cuddle. The screams in the horror movies barely drowned out my moans and cries of pleasure from our fun time. Condoms were used, no worries. After the third movie, we decided to go to bed and actually sleep while cuddling. Jughead was amazing in every way. I was lucky to have him in my life and vice versa. I hoped nothing would ever change.
