Chapter 37

Kagome woke, eyes crunching together as she felt a hand rubbing against her belly. Blearily she blinked open her eyes, finding Sesshomaru looking down at her intensely. She groaned, closing her eyes once more and missing the smirk Sesshomaru sent down to her.

"Wake, Koneko." Sesshomaru had kept Kagome up most of the night with his libido. She hadn't been complaining at the time, but she ended up sleeping most of the morning away. InuYasha's grumbling about taking so long to get going was countered by Lyra defending Kagome. Sesshomaru threatened to kill them both.

"Do I have to?" She opened her eyes once more, seeing his smirk. She wasn't going to be able to sleep any longer than she already had. "Okay, I'll get up." She tried to sit up but was pushed back down as Sesshomaru leaned over her, kissing her deeply. She was still in his lap, one arm wrapped around her shoulders, the other pressed firmly against her belly.

When Sesshomaru pulled away, she looked at him confused. It was only then that she realized they were away from camp. She could see the others behind Sesshomaru, but they were far enough away to have privacy.

She looked back to Sesshomaru, then to his hand that was still rubbing her belly. She was surprised to see her top was opened, her pale skin out for Sesshomaru's viewing. He kept her breast cover, but not her belly.

When he noticed her looking at her stomach, he moved his hand, letting her see what he had noticed the night before. She was finally starting to show. A small curve was protruding from her belly, leaving no doubt that she had a baby curled under her heart.

"I noticed last night while I pleasured you." Sesshomaru's voice was a purr of satisfaction. Seeing his pup growing within Kagome had made becoming a father more real. He knew she was pregnant. He could smell it, hear its heartbeat, but now he could also see it. He was going to be a father soon. In just a few short months he would have a small defenseless being to care for.

He was both excited, and apart of him worried. Kagome had assured him that she believed he would be an amazing father, but she was biased. She was in love with him and would think of no bad of him. Maybe he really would hurt his pup?

That thought alone rolled his stomach, causing him to furrow his brows. If he couldn't think of hurting his child without having some sort of negative reaction, then there is no way he would be able to do it.

Kagome placed a hand on his cheek, noticing where his thoughts went. She sat up, straddling him like she had done the night before. "You love me, don't you?" He nodded, and she smiled, kissing the corner of his mouth. "Because you love me, you protect me, provide for me. You take care of all my needs, emotional and physical. Wouldn't you do that for our baby?"

"Yes. Always." Sesshomaru looked down to her growing belly, and then back up to her blue eyes. She was still cupping his face, her thumbs moving across his stripes.

"Then you love our baby. Just in a different way. That is enough to make you an amazing father." Kagome pressed her lips to his once more, and this time he coaxed her mouth open, shoving his tongue into hers. Growling lowly in his chest, he reached up, cupping a now exposed breast.

Kagome gasped, pulling herself back as he rolled her nipple. Her breast was getting more sensitive every day. He felt himself hardening, pressing against her. Biting her lip, she kept herself from moaning out at the feel of him so close to her womanhood.

"We can't Sesshomaru. The others are right there." She was breathless, cheeks flushed with stirring arousal. Sesshomaru didn't stop, thrusting his hips up towards hers. Her hand went to her mouth, trying to keep her moans to herself.

"Do you really wish for me to stop, Ka-go-me." He gave her a fanged smirked, and she closed her eyes, trying to find any will power. When he leaned forward and nipped her ear, she knew she was done for.

"They will see or hear." She cheeks turned a deeper red at the thought of getting caught. Sesshomaru didn't seem to care as he kissed down her neck, nibbling at her collar bone.

"Remain quiet, and they will not think to look." Sesshomaru moved one of his hands down, descending past her belly, and ducking into her hakama. She leaned forward, burying her face into his neck as his hand continued to press between her thighs.

His questing fingers moved between her folds, searching for her clit. The moment he found it, she bit down on his shoulder, keeping herself quiet. Growling Sesshomaru shifted himself, pressing his cock against her.

She was panting, breathing heavily as he brought her pleasure. It was a game to him now, try to make Kagome get loud. Dipping two fingers inside of her, he expertly brought her to orgasm, drawing it out as much as he could. He didn't stop, didn't give her a chance to rest.

"Can they smell us?" Kagome looked at him for a moment, waiting on his answer.

"The wind is in our favor." He smirked, knowing that Kagome was more than ready to give up fighting him. She reached between them, pulling the ties of his hakama so his cock sprang free. Maneuvering herself, she loosened her own, pulling them down just enough that she could sheath him inside of her.

He grunted, feeling her walls constrict around him. They were quick, knowing they needed to move along before InuYasha began to get impatient again. This time Kagome did all of the work, rolling her hips against him. If he moved, it would be obvious what they were doing.

Grabbing her backside and squeezing, he helped her to rock against him, bring them both to pleasure. She smothered her cry of ecstasy against his chest as he growled lowly, her orgasm forcing his own. He filled her, slightly panting as they took a moment to compose themselves.

Their moment was short-lived, however. Sesshomaru immediately felt a familiar presence at the edge of his senses, and he stood, quickly fixing his and Kagome's clothing. Placing on his armor, he joined the others, setting a frazzled Kagome down beside him.

"Kagura comes. The void is with her." Sesshomaru drew his sword, Kagome going to stand behind him. Their earlier fun was completely forgotten as they waited to see what Kagura would do. Sometimes she was in Naraku's side, others she was on there's. There was no telling with her.

Unfortunately for them, it seemed Kagura was on Naraku's side. She had been prepared for Sesshomaru to feel her early on and had created an army of the dead. They all seemed to be of varying stages of decay, leading him to believe that she had dug up many bodies just to create this army.

The attack was immediate, everyone jumping into the battle. Kagome kept herself behind Sesshomaru, using her bow to keep any of the armies from getting too close. However, since she no longer had her reiki, her arrows were not that effective and ended up being a waste more than anything.

"Save your energy, Kagome." He glanced at her over her shoulder. Her shoulders slumped in defeat as she accepted the inevitable. She could no longer fight. Not against demons at least. She felt more like a burden then, than she ever had before.

Kagura made herself known, sitting on her feather high above them. She was glaring at Sesshomaru, seeing him protecting his female. Kikyou had told them that Kagome was pregnant, and the scent did not lie. Not only had they just had intercourse, but his seed had also taken root, impregnating Kagome. That was a spot Kagura had longed for. Now she would never have it.

"You made a mistake Sesshomaru. You never should have picked a weak human to be your mate." Kagura caught Sesshomaru's attention, seeing him narrow his eyes on her. She leaned forward, scowling at him. "I would have been a far better mate than she ever could be."

"A construct of Naraku to be This Sesshomaru's mate? The thought alone disgusts me." Sesshomaru swung his sword, sending out an attack that Kagura barely just missed. Her tactic was successful though, distracting Sesshomaru enough to let Kanna make her move.

Kagome let out a pained gasp, causing Sesshomaru to spin on his heel to look at her. As soon as he did, a blast of white light shot out from her, sending him and everyone else flying. Pushing himself to his feet, he snarled when he realized he couldn't take another step towards Kagome. Kanna had tapped into Kagome's reiki using her mirror and forced up a shield.

"She is going to take Kagome's soul." Kagura laughed, once again moving out of the way as InuYasha attacked, yelling about saving Kagome. Kagura moved closer once more, staying out of reach. "He is going to taint her soul, darken it until she is no longer the Kagome you all know. When she joins us, you will have to fight her. That will be a sight to see."

"She will not fail." Sesshomaru stepped forward, fangs bared as he watched Kagome fight against Kanna. Kagome wasn't moving at her, her body frozen as a white ball of light continued to grow around her chest. Sesshomaru wanted to run in, to protect her, but he couldn't.

Kagome had to already be in pain from Kanna using her reiki. If he went forward, Kanna would use more of Kagome's reiki, causing his mate to be in more pain. He wanted to rescue her, but this was something Kagome would have to do on her own.

For a moment they all thought Kanna was going to win. Kagome's soul continued to leave her body, steadily growing bigger. It didn't seem that she could fight through the agony of Kanna using her reiki. That was probably the plan and why Kanna decided to go the route she did.

"Kagome, you will win. You will protect our pup." It was an order, one that Sesshomaru would not allow her to disobey.

Kagome heard him, eyes snapping open as she realized what he was saying. If she lost, so did their baby. Their defenseless child would be hurt, possibly killed, and all because she let herself feel weak. Digging deep, she felt for her child, feeling it's agony as its soul was being sucked out just like hers. She learned something then, both that she was having a boy, and that he was crying out for her. Using her aura, she could communicate with her baby.

Wrapped her aura around her son, she soothed him and then focused her gaze on Kanna. "You won't hurt him. You won't hurt my son." Kagome began to suck back in her soul, fighting for both her life and her babies. Kanna fought back, using more of Kagome's reiki to cause fire to travel through Kagome's veins.

"You want my soul so bad, Kanna? Take it." Kagome released the reigns on her soul, watching as it shot out, overwhelming the void child. Kanna didn't even scream as her mirror shattered, sending glass flying from it as a fine dust.

As Kanna cracked and died, Kagura made her escape, not wanting to be there when their attention went back on her. She would have a lot to tell Naraku, and she could only hope he spared her life for it.

As soon as he could, Sesshomaru was back at her side, holding her to him as she fell into his arms limply. He checked her over, feeling her breathing against him. He could hear his son's heartbeat, and he knew they were both okay. Kagome's words still echoed in his ears. She had been able to feel her child, something that only a mother could do. She did it far earlier than most, and now they knew their pup was a boy.

Holding an unconscious Kagome in his arms, he turned to the others. "Let us find someplace safe to rest." No one argued, all of them knowing that Kagome would need to gain her strength from what she just went through. They would talk about the events then and decide what to do from here. Naraku and the council both needed to be stopped. They just didn't know how.
