Note: This story takes place after season 2 of Vampire Knight Guilty. It has no affliction towards the manga but it will hint at some of the events happening.
It seemed like it was only yesterday when Alice first met Kaname. She didn't know much about the family, but her father's business affairs often led her to the Kuran Mansion. Much older than she was, he never paid any attention to her everytime she came over. Though they often studied together and enjoyed a pleasant time, Alice knew his smiles would never be as genuine as the ones he gave to his younger sister, Yuki. She was fun, outgoing, and enjoyable. Since they were around the same age, Alice always attempted to get close to her. But she was never able to penetrate the bond between the two. Alice did not enjoy picking flowers or playing with dolls. She enjoyed reading and studying. Like Kaname, she often took strolls in the park and played piano. However, he never looked her way no matter how hard she tried to impress him.
"You are to be engaged to Kaname Kuran", those words rang in her head. Ever since she was 8 she was pampered to become the ideal most intelligent wife. Becoming the Kuran Bride was something that had been drilled into her head. The last time she saw him though, was the announcement of their engagement. As happy as she was, Kaname remained aloof. Since then, she dedicated herself to become a dependable bride for Kaname Kuran.
Watching the snow carefully fall upon the window, her thoughts were disrupted when there was a sudden stop to her vehicle.
"Madam, there's a body on the road." Marcus pointed towards the narrow road ahead. In the snow, outlined a figure of pale skin and bright white hair.
"It could be dangerous, We'll take another route." He began to reverse the car until Alice motioned him to stop. He glanced over to her in the mirror. She took a small breath before fixing herself,
"No need, I will check", she unbuckled her seatbelt and prepared to step out.
"Your father is against this. Must you proceed?" he questioned.
Alice had always been stubborn the moment she was born. That's why her father hired Marcus as her own personal bodyguard. The goal was to prevent her from rebelling. However, things turned out differently for Marcus. He ended up being her own personal butler instead.
"Then I will wait."
Marcus parked the car and carefully watched as Alice got out of the vehicle. He knew she was capable of many things but he often worried about the consequences of her actions. He sighed before brushing his gloved hand against his light brown hair. As he fixed his gaze on the unmoving figure, he could only sense a bad feeling from Alice's discovery.
Alice approached the young man in the snow and observed his attire from head to toe. A long trench coat, white shirt, and a cross necklace. Silky white hair and a mysterious symbol upon his neck. Carefully examining him, she bent down to touch his skin, cold. No pulse. Her eyes flickered for a moment before retreating her hand. He was a vampire. No doubt. What would a vampire be doing on laying lifeless on the road? Unless..
"Level E" She mumbled. Stepping back, she looked at the man in pity before her eyes turned crimson red and her nails grew longer from her right hand. She hated Level E Monsters. They tarnished the pureblood name and set a bad reputation for vampires everywhere. In her mind, they didn't deserve to live.
As blood streamed out her palm and began to form into a bow, she heard a faint moan from the figure.
"Y-Yuki..", the man mumbled.
Immediately, she paused. That name. Retracting her bloodied bow into thin air, she leaned over towards him and examined him again. There was no way she heard wrong, he spoke. This level E wasnt mindless. Taking a deep breath, she hovered her palm over his head and tried to recover his last remaining memories - nothing.
"Impossible.. It should've worked", she questioned herself before trying again. Taking another breath, she focused all of her inner energy into her palm and dug deep in his memory. There, she saw something.
"K-Kaname-san", her voice trembled at the sight of seeing Kaname through this man's memories. Her long beloved fiance had been found. Relieved, she tried once more but failed.
"Achk!" she grunted, clutching her chest. Kaname was blocking this man's memories from being seen. Regaining herself, she stood up and fixed her dress. Elegantly walking back, she stood by the Aries and only muttered a few words.
"I will be taking this man home"
"But your father-", She glared into his icy eyes and within a second, he understood.
Stepping out, Marcus scanned the area for any traps. He proceeded to follow Alice's orders and carried the man inside the car. Briefly, he got a glance at the unconscious man.
"That symbol.." He thought. It looked familiar but he couldn't figure out where he'd seen it.
Laying the man down on the passenger seat, Marcus started the car and made his way towards the Sayaka Mansion. He peeked over at Alice before reverting his eyes back on the road.
