"You left pretty quick yesterday, we just wanted to know if everything's all right." Haruhi said, her voice filled with concern. In that moment, Kyoya didn't know what to say. To tell the truth now would certainly cause a panic among the hosts, hindering their ability to work as Tamaki had wanted. They would be returning the following day to find the truth on their own, leaving Kyoya in a difficult position. He glanced over at the host king before giving his reply.

"We'll talk more about this tomorrow. I'm going to have a car meet you when your plane lands, you'll come straight to the hospital and I can give you the updates then, they have some tests to do and then-"

"Kyoya senpai, should we be worried?"

"No. Worrying won't do you any good. I'll explain everything to you tomorrow, for now just continue with your responsibilities. You know how important the club is to Tamaki, we can't stop because one of us is ill. It's in times like this that we need to work harder. I know it's difficult under the circumstances, but it was at his request."

"Yeah, I know. We just didn't know what to think when you left like that. Everyone was asking where you were this morning, Honey Senpai was able to distract them, but I don't know how long it'll be before they start asking again. We can't keep avoiding this. Won't they know eventually that something isn't right?"

"I'm sure they'll all suspect something, but hopefully Tamaki will be feeling better by the time it becomes an issue. If there are any problems, call me and I'll handle it."

"Are you sure everything's okay?" Kyoya sighed.

"When you get into the car, call me." Kyoya glanced at his phone noticing the red battery indicator. "Haruhi, my battery is very low, I need to find a charger, I'll talk to you later." Haruhi paused before replying to the older teen.

"All right, keep it charged in case anything changes, for now I guess we'll assume no news is good." Kyoya ended the call.

"Tomorrow is Monday, Tamaki. Everyone will be here expecting you to be awake. I need you to be here with us. I don't even know how to tell them. I need you to help me."Kyoya rummaged through his bag, trying to find the charger. After several minutes of unsuccessful searching, he moved to the bedside table where he recalled Tamaki kept his. He opened the drawer to find an envelop addressed to him under the ill teen's phone. He lifted it from its resting place to find yet another, addressed to the host club both in Tamaki's handwriting.

The shadow king drew in a breath, slowly lowering himself onto the chair. He debated silently on whether or not to open them, unsure if he truly wanted to know what was inside. He slowly opened the envelope with his name on it and unfolded the paper inside.

My dearest Kyoya,

Although I've known you only a small amount of time, you've become such an important part of my life.

I knew when I met you that there was something about you, but I never could've imagined how much of an impact you would have on my life.

It's because of you that the Host Club exists and I was able to see my dream become reality, that I was able to find happiness and love.

I know that I drive you crazy with my ideas and the budget, pretty much everything...somehow, you find it in your heart to still love me, through all the insanity and drama. Thank you.

You've given me so many wonderful things to look forward to. You described such a beautiful life to me over these past months, our life. A place where I can be free of my Grandmother's rules, where I can see my mother without worrying about it affecting her ability to have what she needs. I thought of a mansion in the middle of Paris, with the most beautiful garden. You and I would sit together, maybe on one of those garden swings, under the canopy. You've given me reason to hold out hope and you've given me such strength while I've been so weak.

As much as I love having you close to me, feeling your arms around me, your warmth...

I'm afraid it's time that you and I go our separate ways. We are now on two different paths.

It breaks my heart to write this to you. Unfortunately, my path is leading me to a place where I must go alone.

Thank you for sharing these past years with me, it's been quite a journey and I'm glad I had you to walk down this road with me.

If you want to remember something, let it be our love, in times when you feel sad, wrap my love around you and know that I'm with you.

This isn't your fault, I know you'll find a way to convince yourself you could've done something, but that's not what I want for you.

You and our family gave me reason to smile, I don't know what I would've done without you.

Don't cry because my life has ended, my love. Smile because we got to spend that time together and tell each other the truth about how we feel.

Find someone who can give you the same feelings you gave me.

I love you with all my heart, and I'm sorry I couldn't be stronger.

I leave the host club in your care, what you choose to do is entirely your decision but please do your best to look after them. Don't shut them out. We went through this together, that's how I'd like you all to move on, and yes mon coeur, you will move on, you have to, for me. I know it won't feel like you can right away.

Thank you again for everything and I hope your life is filled with love and happiness.

Until our paths cross once again,

Tamaki

Kyoya folded the paper, he felt sick. He sat in the chair, unable to collect his thoughts as the wave of grief came over his heart.

He reached out, resting a hand on the blond's, unable to speak. The world around him was beginning to fall apart.

"I didn't expect to see you here, have you finally realized you're wasting your time with that little club of yours?" Yoshio asked coldly as he entered the room.

"Now is not the time for this conversation and the host club is not simply a waste of time. There is a lot of good that comes from it." Kyoya replied softly.

"It does nothing for you, your efforts are best used toward your grades and getting ready for-"

"Not now."

"You're going to have to wake up sometime, Kyoya."

"Father, do you not see that my best friend is lying in front of me, I assume you're here as part of your shift." The older man moved to the bed, turning to the monitors.

"I can imagine this is difficult for you. In light of the situation and only this time, I will over look the fact that you're talking back." Kyoya watched as his father examined Tamaki. He pushed his glasses back into place and sat back against the chair, offering the man space to work, the letter still held in his hand.

"Have you gotten any results back yet?" He said at last.

"No. The blood test won't be back until tomorrow." Yoshio sat down next to his son.

"I know what you think of me, Kyoya." He began. "I know you think I don't understand what's going on or what you're going through. I don't know if you remember, but your mother used to tell me that I was too hard on all of you. She would've been better at this than I am. I know what it feels like to see someone struggle through an illness. We'll do everything we can."

"I know." Kyoya replied. "Tamaki- he's a good person, helping others when he can, putting others before himself. It's not fair."

"Unfortunately it's part of life. Illness doesn't care how good a person is. If this was the case, your mother never would've gone through it. I know Tamaki means a lot to you and I'm not the best at comforting, that's not something I grew up knowing.

"His father wasn't even here, if Y-"

"He calls to check in. Your brother told me he couldn't reach him, I called this afternoon and we talked. He's afraid. In our line of work, you meet many types of people. Some get angry at unfavorable news, some avoid it all together. Don't judge him too harshly."

"It just doesn't make sense to me, Father. If it was one of us lying there-"

"I don't know how I would react to that. It's different when it's someone else's child. I will admit that seeing everything Yuzuru is going through...had me thinking of several things."

"Tamaki deserves to have his family close to him now. If I hadn't gone-"

"What could you have done?"

"I'm sure there was something, if I could have been here-"

"You couldn't have prevented this."

"Is there anything, another medicine or procedure that can give him a better chance?"

"No. It takes time for the bone marrow transplant to give any results, if it takes at all. We're watching his levels and if they start to improve, he it could increase his chances but it's never a guarantee. Even if they did, he may need a second one, which would have to wait for him to regain some of his strength. "

"If that's what he needs, we can-"

"Kyoya, don't put too much hope into this. It's not an ideal situation, it's a miracle he's still alive right now. He can't keep this up much longer."

"I can't let him go. I'll do anything I have to, but He can't die."

"You can't save everyone. Life doesn't-"

"You don't understand, I- He can't because, I love him."
