Chapter Thirty-One: I Will Get Him For You

Here is the next chapter for you all.

I am so sorry it took me this long to get this out. I started really focusing on writing the books I am going to publish that all my fics got pushed to the back of my brain. However that said I think I have a plan that will allow me to work on the fics a little each day as well as work on my actual books. This should also allow me to put more chapters out so long as I follow my plan. (grins sheepishly) Goodness I hope I do, otherwise how else do I plan on following other plans am I right? Lol

Anyway enough about my lateness and lets get to the story yeah.

Previously:

Author looked the alpha distracted by his thoughts and memories of the kids. Amused he thought back to his own child and how quick the pup had a grasp on what was going on around him to know when someone was in pain or needed comfort only he seemed to know how to give without seeming to over stay his welcome. Looking up at the full moon with his dark silver eyes he let out a deep howl he hoped reached his child wherever he was. He wanted him to know just how proud of him he was. The fact that he had the privilege to see a great child like Mark grow up to be the proud and strong wolf he became. This made the father feel more proud of his child every day.

Some of the wolves picked up on his howl and added their own, Zali included. Some of the howls were of the parent's of the children that had went on their own adventure, other were those that felt a deep love the kids that had left, but most were of wolves just letting out their own emotions out and singing to the world around them. The world would end but this pack was sure going to live as long as they could no matter what.

Now:

Kiba woke up and looked at his best friend sleeping peacefully next to him, slightly fidgeting as he did so. Chuckling the teenager got up and made his way into the guest bathroom where he looked at himself in the mirror. He looked tired physically but due to his solid illusion his appearance didn't really show that in his hair and clothes. Running his fingers through his hair he was once again taken by how different it felt from a wolf's fur coat. While it was soft it wasn't as soft as a wolf's coat, should they take the best care of themselves. Putting his hand down on the counter he looked over at Quent with his blue eyes when the man walked into view, "Do you have to go in today?"

"For a little bit yeah, how'd you sleep last night?"

"Well enough, I'm just glad that I can be near my friends overall to be truthful." Kiba replied rubbing his face as his mind remembered the man from that dream a while back saying his friends were just unneeded baggage. His eyes closed as he tried to forget it, for some reason it caused his heart to ache at the thought.

"Keith." Startled the illusioned wolf looked at the human who touched his shoulder as a means of getting his attention, "There seems to be something bothering you. Do you want to talk about it?"

The wolf sighed and glanced away, "I promised I'd talk to Markus (1) before I did anyone else once I figured out what is going on."

Quent kept his eyes on the teenager standing in front of him. "Is it about the memories you don't have yet?" The man asked in a whisper, knowing full well that the teen could hear him easily.

Kiba shook his head, "It's something else. I just… I just need to understand what I want to say, and talk to Mark before I reach out and talk to anyone else. I owe it to him."

"I understand kid. I get that you are taking time to think it through and I don't want to rush you, however you should know that our path is going to start speeding up and running at us. We need to be sure we get as many of our questions out of the way as we can."

"I'll talk to Mark as soon as I can." Kiba replied already feeling the pressure build up despite the man's good intentions with his words.

"That's all we are asking kid." The human said, patting the younger on the shoulder. "Hurry up and get ready, I sent Blue to wake up Markus."

Kiba nodded and ran some water over his face to help wake himself up a little more. As he was drying off his face, Mark padded in and tilted his head as he watched his best friend, "You going to be okay, Key?"

The brunette dropped the towel he was using to the counter and smiled at the black furred wolf, "Yeah, just a lot of thinking I have to do in a short time frame."

"Is it the thinking about the strange dreams you have been getting sometimes?" The red eyed wolf asked curiously tilting his head, his furry ears moving as he did. Kiba looked at him quietly, "I've started to recognize the signs of when you have those strange dreams."

Kiba sighed, "I don't know why I keep having them."

"I have to ask, what is making them so different?"

"They are different due to the person causing them. It's the crap he is saying to me that I am trying to understand." The illusioned wolf replied rubbing his head with his damp hand, "Everything he tells me either makes no sense, like he's trying to get me to understand something, or he's trying to upset me into being irrational."

"Are you sure it is a guy?"

"Yes, he's always talking to me every time he pulls me into that stupid dream."

Mark put his forehead against his best friend's leg, "Together we will figure out who he is and make him pay for what he is doing. That is your mind, not his."

Kiba nodded in agreement and gently pet the wolf's head before wondering out of the bathroom where he saw Quent watching him, "We will find out who is getting in your mind, I promise."

"Thank you, it will be nice to sleep without fear that happening again." Kiba made his way to the back door and opened it letting Mark and Blue run out to use the bathroom real quick.

Mark and Blue quickly ran over to a small hole where they smelled Tsume, "I take Quent is going into work today."

Blue sniffed the ground as Mark replied, "Yeah, Kiba has to go in with him. How is everything on your end and trying to stay out of the patrols hands?"

"It's getting harder to get away from them. I think they are predicting my moves now. We might need to push our plan forward and get me caught by Quent. That or I have to stay outside of the wall from now on. If they catch me they will know I'm a wolf. You know they will test it. The problem is once they realize one 'big dog' is a wolf you know they will find a way to get all dogs checked for any amount of wolfs blood."

"That is true." Mark replied as Blue wondered off to go use the restroom away from the conversation, she knew that the black wolf would tell her what she missed. "How about Monday night, it would seem like luck instead of convenience that he catches you during the weekend."

"I agree with that." The grey wolf said looking around, "I need to go before they find me here. Find a way to let Quent know. An idea could be used is that food is getting scarce, which is true as it is getting hard to eat without Quent or the other food I am able to sneak away with from other families that are close to the wall on the other side."

"I'll let him know, though I'm sure that Quent already knows that with the amount of food he has been leaving out for you lately." Mark replied then looked over to the side where he heard Blue barking happily at some of the guards that were near by, "Go, Blue and I will keep them distracted." The black wolf ran over and also barked happily at the guards getting their attention, the two of them stood there with their tails wagging.

One of the guards chuckled letting his hand fall down to pet Mark but the black wolf pranced away playfully making the second guard laugh. Tsume wondered how his fellow pure wolf was able to fake being a dog so well. He understood how Toboe and Hige could due to all the practice they've had, especially with their memories from their past life. But Mark didn't have that, he hadn't brought up anything regarding the last life he actually lived, and he was a wild wolf just like himself. Yet Mark was flawless in his execution of the animal that he was playing. Running off he quickly went into the forest where he laid near the edge of a rock.

Mark and Blue ran back to the house when they heard the back door open up. Instantly they were next to their 'master' barking and wagging their tail. Quent and Kiba were looking at their 'dogs' amused with the younger saying, "What in the world are you doing now?"

The guard that tried to pet Mark laughed, "He was teasing me like he wanted to be pet then pranced away."

The teenager nodded, "Yeah, he does that every once in a while. Markus is a real weirdo when he wants to be." Kiba scratched the black wolf behind the ear to which Mark closed his eyes content with the sensation he was feeling.

"He really is something that is for sure." The second guard said with a chuckle, "Quent, can we talk to you?"

The human nodded and turned to the kid with him, "Key, go get the dogs on their leashes and get the rest of your things together. The snacks will be in the cabinet."

The solid illusioned wolf nodded and ran inside with both the 'dogs' right behind him. "What seems to be the issue?"

"Do you remember the guy that scared the kid you have with you?"

"Yeah, has he been caught?" Quent asked crossing his arms over his chest.

The first guard sighed, "No, but he has been seen trying to head in the direction of your house. I don't know how long you are supposed to have Keith but I think you should start trying to find a way to keep him safer. The man appears to be rather persistent."

"That is what worries me. The kid hasn't been here very long and he already has someone trying to target him." Quent looked his house where he saw Kiba's head peek around the corner of the of one of the rooms in his house and for a short second before he once again disappearing, likely running after Mark since Blue took to her leash rather well. However, it seemed that the black wolf only did it to mess with his best friend. "Thank you for letting me know, I'll make sure to report if he is near my house."

"Thank you, have a good day at work Sheriff Quent."

Quent walked back inside where he saw Kiba sitting on the couch with his bag next to him and Mark prancing around the living room with his leash dragging on the floor. Blue was laying on the carpet next to the front door watching her fellow wolf amused. Quent stopped to watch the hyper active wolf. While this wasn't the first time he had seen the young wolf act like this it still bewildered him with how hyper he could get when the mood hit him. Red eyes locked onto human watching him. Deciding to ignore the dark furred wolf Quent looked at the teenage appearing wolf, "You heard what they said correct?"

"No, I was distracted by Mark. However by the look on your face I can already tell what it is about. How are we going to handle that?" Before his returned memory he would be biting his lip, now that some of his memories were there he now had a hybrid like personality.

"I'm not sure yet, however we will figure out something. The last thing I need is some strange man trying to do whatever he wants to you. Your parents would kill me if they found out I let something like that happen to you." The human replied picking up the paper bag holing some snacks for himself. When he didn't see the one with the dog food he knew that it was in the bag that was next to Kiba. "Let's get out of here. The last thing I need is my boss yelling at me for being late." The illusioned wolf nodded in understanding and got up.

As night fell at the end of the day, Tsume stalked forward in the dark his eyes taking in everything so that he didn't get snuck up on in the process. Eyes narrowing his ears went to his head as the glared up at the sky where the annoying sound was coming from penetrating his ears. Growing in irritation he continued to walk forward looking for any sign of food that he could hunt down. His nose had picked up on a hare that had been in the area but he was having a slightly hard time catching it. He knew that it wasn't in a burrow but it was using the bushes to keep itself safe. Kneeling down slightly the grey wolf's golden eyes looking at the hare using the bush to stay between the two of them.

Hearing the sound getting louder the hare and the wolf winced and looked up at the sky beyond the treetops. Tsume tried to remember the last time a noble came to Dome City only to come up with that it had been nearly half a year. Due to the city not having any real political influence due to it being a smaller dome than the ones that nobles usually lived it, none of the remaining nobles visited the area very often. It was partially why Cher and Hubb had moved to the area when they got their memory of their past lives back. For Tsume, at the time anyway, it had been safe enough for him to roam around freely without too much interaction with the population that lived there. Now however the guards and animal catchers were going out of their way to catch any stray cat and dogs. From what Tsume had heard it was because of the boom in their population and them raiding the trashcans of the residents.

Giving a small huff Tsume turned just in time to see the hare running off. Taking off after the animal he quickly caught and killed it. With his food caught he picked it up and headed over to where he had been taking up residence for the time being. Upon reaching it he put the hare down and got ready to eat it when one of the noble ships flew closer to the ground. Internally the wolf worried that they knew that Kiba was residing inside the domed city. Hackles rising at the thought he resisted running in to go check and make sure that his friend was okay. 'At this point I just need to trust that Quent will keep him safe.' Looking at the ship again he wondered what noble was sending their forces to the city. Last time it had been Lord Orkham, what the man had wanted from the people of the dome that day Tsume never found out. What made him even more nervous was if the noble was Lord Darcia the Third or Lady Jargara. Both had a set of memories with Kiba in them so they would have a pretty good idea what the white wolf could look like in his human illusion.

It was pretty clear to the paradise wolves, that had memories of the woman, to know that she either would kill Kiba trying to use him again. However with Darcia Tsume was absolutely sure that he was going to try and keep Kiba alive. For what reason he had no idea, but it likely wasn't going to be good since Kiba still had no memories of any of nobles. It was extremely frustrating for the wolves that knew what two of them were capable of. Lying down out of sight of the vehicles getting loaded off the ship Tsume internally was screaming. He wanted nothing more than to try and thin the ranks of the two nobles that had large forces under their command. However he knew that it was better that he was not spotted, he had a rather distinct scar on his chest. 'Crap, I'm going to have to talk to Mark and we are going to have to change my capture by Quent to a different day. If any of these men know what I look like as a wolf I could out us before we can even plan what path we need to take to get out of there unscathed.'

Miles away a woman was suspended in a liquid with her eyes closed. Though she couldn't see anything, she could feel that one that caused her to want to wake up. However he was too far away for her liking, yet she was scared that when he did get close that they would be unable to get away as fast as she would like. Reaching through the connection the two of them shared she could tell that he was sleeping next to his best friend. She could still remember the feel of his fur coat on her fingers and how warm he was. She wanted nothing more than to be near him again and feel safe. While Darcia was not hurting her, she knew when the time came to it he'd do it again if his plans didn't go the way he wanted them to. The inner wolf within Darcia had not fully exposed himself yet but it was still there lurking in the dark ready to pounce at the chance at getting free.

Feeling her chosen wolf smiling in his sleep made her heart light. She wanted to know what was going through his head at that moment. What was he seeing to cause that kind of reaction? She wondered if he would be happy to see her and give her a similar reaction. Perhaps his memory of her would also come back and he would say her name with the same form of affection he had in their last life. Her attention was once again brought back to her chosen wolf when his heart rate picked up in his sleep. It didn't feel like a nightmare so she wasn't too worried but she was still curious as to why and what could cause that. The way it felt was very similar to how his emotions felt in their last life concerning herself, however it was slightly more intense.

Just as she was trying to understand what that intense emotion could possibly be, she felt Darcia enter the room where she was. She felt him stop when he was close enough to touch the glass. "You miss him don't you Cheza? Don't worry, I'll get your wolf for you so the two of you can be together again." Her heart squeezed hearing that, she feared what would happen when the man in front of her found him and the pack Kiba had. She wanted to speak up and tell Darcia to leave her chosen wolf alone. "Don't worry too much; he will be in good condition and safe. My only hope is that he doesn't try to fight back."

'No, Kiba! Please, be careful.'

"When the time is right, I'll get my Harmana back and the two of you will be able to leave. I will not fail this time."

Desperately Cheza reached through her connection to her chosen wolf, 'Kiba, avoid him. Please, don't go with him. Find this one your way. You must.'
