Alright! Who's up for another Episode of Teen Titans!? I know I am! In this one we'll get to see a little bit more on Adam. I remember the inspiration for this was the fact how I remember reading some OC stories where the OC was just shown as all powerful and things of that nature. I thought, nah, I want to make it more realistic. So this was how I felt I'd best introduce my OC to learning to use his powers. Hence the title, Training Disasters. Enjoy!
Episode Three Summary: Robin thought he had had trouble training Titans before. But the new Titan's abilities, and his almost utter incapability of using them right, make training him a downright disaster. Heck he hadn't been this frustrated since... an annoying villain kidnapped the Titans to date Starfire.
The view showed the lit up Tower. A clear starry night sky was up above in the background. The bay around appeared calm...
The view shifted, showing a green gloved fist.
Pow! "Oof!"
Adam fell back hard onto the matted floor of the training room. The shield he had been holding shined while it rolled away before it disappeared. He groaned in pain as he worked on getting up again. "Why are we doing this again?" He asked.
The view shifted, revealing Robin as Adam's opponent. Robin was in his normal uniform, while Adam was in a new get up. He had a pair of white gloves and boots on. He was also wearing a normal black t-shirt, with a normal pair of jeans that went into his boots. He had a white belt on as well with a large black A inscribed on it. Cyborg had offered to make him a uniform like what Robin or Beast Boy wore, but he just didn't see how heroes could find all that spandex comfortable. He found it too clingy on him for some reason. He much preferred the looser shirt and jeans.
"Because you still need to learn how to control your powers in a combat situation." Robin said.
The view shifted, showing the other Titans watching at the edge of the mat. The weight bars, treadmills, and sandbags were shown behind them. They said nothing, as they were watching the duel intently.
The view shifted back to Robin, who brought his Bo-Staff out and extended it. "Again Adam. Try to focus on the weapon you want to wield against me right now." Robin said.
Adam brought a hand out in front of him, his face strained as he concentrated... A bronze buckler with a large faded A and faded ancient writing around the outside appeared. A piece of leather allowed him to hold it on his wrist. Adam frowned.
"Now, attack me." Robin ordered.
"I can't use a shield. Who the fetch fights with only a shield-" Adam was saying.
Whack!
Robin swiped out, easily knocking the shield off and away from Adam. The other end of the staff stopped under Adam's chin, silencing him. "Several heroes do, along with several villains who won't care what you try to do. Given the chance, they'd hurt and kill you to escape justice. Now, try again." Robin ordered up close.
Adam grimaced, and a weapon appeared in his hand. He knocked the Bo-Staff out of the way, and backed up into position again.
He looked down. He was holding a bronze spear with faded writing on the shaft, and it had a bronze tip. He frowned again. It had not been what he wanted, again.
"Use my powers. I'm not sure I even know how to use this thing." He muttered, before looking back up to face Robin.
Whack!
The spear was suddenly knocked out of Adam's hand, and Robin used his Bo-Staff to trip Adam onto the ground. Adam stared up at Robin in surprise and pain. Robin was frowning.
"Focus on the fight. Now, again." Robin ordered.
Adam glared, and got back up. This time, a bronze bladed sword appeared in his hand.
"Alright." Adam said more excitedly, before he swiped forward.
Adam came to quickly realize something in that moment. He had been trying to summon the sword the whole fight… but now that he had it he still wasn't very familiar with it, especially as much as Robin was familiar with his Bo-Staff.
Robin quickly twisted his body to the side, dodging the swipe. He then brought his Bo-Staff down on Adam's back.
Pow!
Adam was sent down into the ground, his sword clattering out of his hand from the impact. Adam's sword disappeared and again he groaned in pain. "Seriously?"
"You can do better than that, again!" Robin ordered.
Adam got on one knee, looking up at Robin. This time Adam frustratingly charged forward. Going for Robin's Bo-Staff.
Pow!
The view showed Adam launched to one side in slow motion.
"Again!" Robin's voice said.
Whack!
Another view showed Adam launched to the other side in slow motion, a shield flying away from him.
"Again!" Robin ordered.
Whack!
Another view showed Adam get launched up in the air in slow motion, a spear flying away from him.
"AGAIN!" Robin ordered frustratingly.
KaPow!
The last view showed Adam land flat on his back. A sword and shield at his sides. Both of them faded away as he flipped over and got up on one knee, breathing heavily.
Robin stood above him, not even breaking a sweat. The frown was etched into his face.
"Alright, it's getting late. We'll try again tomorrow." Robin said.
Adam glared up at him. Then he got back up and walked away without more than a glare on his face. His shoulders stiff with pride and embarrassment. He didn't say another word.
"Yo Rob, don't you think you're pushing Adam there a little too hard?" Cyborg asked as he appeared behind Robin with the other Titans.
"He's not improving fast enough Cyborg. He hasn't been ready to help out with Cinderblock, or Bro. Blood, or any of the other alerts in the past week. He has to learn to improve now, or else he won't be ready for whoever comes next."
The view showed Adam, just as he got to the doors. Robin's voice still sounded in the background as he walked into the dark hallway.
"Adam has to learn how his powers work, or he will never make it as a Teen Titan."
The view went dark.

The view showed the backside of the Tower facing the city. The light of the sun was just coming over the city in the east. It looked to be in the hours of the early morning.
'Training Disasters' appeared on the view in white letters, before slowly fading out...
The view shifted.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Adam was shown running hard across the flat rocky surface of the island. Explosions appeared on the ground all around him. He kept on running, as he approached the turrets that were firing at him.
Thump!
The ground in front of him suddenly sank down, forming a sink hole. Adam luckily jumped off the ground in time, and started to shakily glide over the hole towards the turrets through the air. He warbled to the left and right like an off kilter bird.
"It's like trying to freaking balance in the air!" He said in frustration, barely managing to avoid one of the blasts from the turrets. More so because he fell sideways before regaining control of his descent.
"Come on, a shield. I need a shield!" Adam panted out while trying to get something to form in his hand. Just as he shakily glided down towards solid ground.
A weapon finally formed in his hand. A bronze sword. Adam landed back onto the ground almost tripping over himself and groaned. "Are you kidding me, I could have used this when I was trapped in that stupid net-" He was saying.
KaBoom!
An explosion lit up all around Adam. Blocking him from view for a couple seconds.
The turrets stopped firing, and they disappeared back into the ground where they had came from. The sinkhole behind the smoke cloud also rose back to its original spot.
The view showed the control panel. Robin and the other Titans were shown, staring down at Adam down below. The timer on the panel showed 15:04 and counting on it. The best time it showed beneath it from Starfire was 1:34.
The smoke finally cleared, showing Adam in a frozen position. He was frozen in the same position he had been in when he was hit by the stun blast from the turret.
"Emh... e lutle elp?" Adam muttered out on the field.
"The dude didn't even finish." Beast Boy said in disbelief.
"And that was only the beginner's course." Raven said dryly.
Cyborg shook his head. Starfire looked sadly at her friend.
Robin sighed to himself. "Next." He said.
The view flipped over. Adam again had a spear in his hand. He was in one of the training rooms standing on a concrete floor. He was looking around himself while backing up.
He looked to the right.
Whack!
A black covered sand bag came from his left, knocking him down onto the ground. Adam quickly got back up, looking around again. He faced the left where the bag had came from.
"This isn't fair-" Adam was saying.
Pow!
Another bag hit him from behind. He groaned in pain. "I can't even tell where they're coming fro-"
Pow!
Another bag hit him from the right, knocking him back onto the ground. Adam groaned as he got back up this time. Using the spear as a staff to help himself up.
"How is this supposed to help again?" Adam questioned.
Wham!
A bag fell on him from up above, pinning Adam down to the ground. He laid limply underneath the weight of it. Groaning in pain.
The view moved to the side, showing a smirking Raven next to the other Titans. "I know this is supposed to help him learn to pay attention to his surroundings... but this is actually kind of fun." She said.
"Better him than me." Beast Boy commented.
Robin groaned as he facepalmed. "Next." He said.
The view again flipped over. This time showing a training room with weights in it. Along with a few treadmills for different animals lining the walls.
"Urgh!" Adam groaned underneath a bar. Trying to push it back up to it's slot.
"C'mon man, you're only doing 200 pounds here! I can do ten times that in my sleep!" Cyborg bellowed over him.
"You're mechanical though! I'm just flesh!" Adam groaned out.
"Hey, I was still benching more than twice this before I was mechanical! So don't you dare give me any excuse until you actually try small fry! Now do it!" Cyborg yelled.
Adam tried to push up harder, lifting the bar up another inch toward's Cyborg. "That's it man, keep it coming! Keep it-" Cyborg was saying excitedly.
Wham! KCK!
The bar fell down quickly, making a loud noise as it hit the safety pins placed just above Adam's chest. Adam groaned in pain and defeat, while Cyborg frowned overhead.
The view shifted to the side again, showing Robin. Robin groaned. "Next." He ordered.
The view shifted sideways. Adam was at the kitchen counter, finishing making a ham and cheese sandwich.
"At least he allows time for lunch breaks. I'm starving." He muttered to himself as he put the sandwich together.
A few seconds later, he put the two sides together. Feeling satisfied, he closed his eyes and raised it up to eat it.
Chomp! "Ow!"
Only the sandwich disappeared from his hands as he bit down, so when he bit down he bit down his tongue. His eyes widened in surprise. "Ow! My tomgir-" He was yelling while backing away from the counter in pain.
Adam fell back into a black portal in the floor.
...
...
"Aughhhhhh!"
Adam fell a ways away past the window outside flailing his limbs.
...
Splash!
He splashed into the bay.
Raven and Robin walked up to the window to look down below. Robin was again frowning. "I'd say his always remain at alert test while in the Tower was also a failure." Raven said dryly.
Chomp!
She took a large bite out of Adam's sandwich. She chewed it for a moment before swallowing. "His sandwich making skills are on par though." She added on almost sarcastically as a compliment. She took another bite of it.
Robin sighed to himself and face palmed. "Next." He said defeatedly.
...
The view showed a jungle. With lots of green underbrush, and a blazing sun overhead. A dirt pathway ran through the middle of it.
The view moved over, showing Adam walking along the path. A bronze sword was in his right hand. He looked around himself as he walked.
"What the heck am I supposed to be facing here?" Adam said, as he looked around. The jungle around him opened up into a small clearing.
Snap!
The view showed Adam suddenly face his left. There was nothing in sight.
Crack!
Adam faced the right. Again he only saw the jungle around him. He got in the center of the clearing, looking around himself. A closer look showed that he looked really tired.
"This is stupid. I shouldn't be afraid of a fetching simulation. What's the worst it could do, kill me?" Adam muttered to himself as he looked around for the danger he was supposed to face. He gripped the hilt of his sword with both hands.
The view moved to his front, and showed a dark shadow appear over his left shoulder. Adam glanced.
Whack!
Adam was hit in the back, launching him hard onto the ground. He scrambled onto his hands and knees, quickly bringing his sword up to fight what was behind him.
Pow!
Adam fell back again, landing hard on his back from the kick to his chest. He groaned in pain. Then he opened his eyes.
The view showed a Slade-bot in front of him. It drew a black blade from its side, and then jumped high up in the air. It front flipped before coming down, its blade heading right for Adam's heart.
"Aughhhhhhh!" Adam's eyes widened and he screamed like a baby as he raised his sword to try and block the strike. The Slade-bots blade was just an inch over his chest.
Beep!
The Slade-bot stopped, and slowly disappeared into thin air. The jungle all around also disappeared from around the nearly hyperventilating Adam. "Simulation, terminated." A computer voice beeped.
He quickly got up off the ground looking a lot more wide awake. Within a few seconds he was left in a large dark blue room. Just how it had looked when he had first entered. The sword disappeared from his hand.
He sighed in defeat. "I'm just going to guess that I failed again." He muttered sadly to himself. He walked forward out of the view.
The view zoomed out, showing the TV Screen on the wall. Robin and the rest of the team were standing in front of it. Robin's face was flat, and his stiff body posture showed that he wasn't happy.
The doorway to the right of the screen slid open, and Adam appeared in the view again. A grimace was on his face. The view expanded out, showing the other Titans staring at him silently.
"Go ahead, say it." Adam said grumpily after a few seconds.
"Say what?" Robin replied.
"I fetching failed. Again." Adam muttered with an eye roll.
Robin's frown deepened a little bit. He remained calm though. "Maybe we could try a different sort of training to try and help you out-" Robin was suggesting.
"And what?! Get beat by a bunch of sand bags again?! Get blasted by another turret!? Make a bigger fool of myself with all these dumb tests!? I can't even summon the right weapon half the time!? I still can't understand how I can summon a fetching sword out of thin air! And I might not have a bunch of my memory, but I'm pretty certain I haven't used a sword before in my life Robin! So how do you think that training is ever going to help someone as useless as ME?!" Adam yelled in anger.
There was a pause between them, as Adam breathed in and out angrily. The other Titans also stayed silent. Beast Boy nodded slightly to himself in understanding, as if he had once stood in Adam's position before.
Robin took a deep breath. Then looked at Adam again. He had a flat look worthy of Batman on his face. "If you go into training thinking it won't help you, then it never will." Robin said calmly.
Adam humphed to himself, and turned away. His pride felt like it had been stomped on enough... after a moment though, Robin's green gloved hand gripped his shoulder. "I'm sorry we're pushing you so hard to improve Adam. We just want to help you learn to control and improve your powers and better yourself." He said calmly with sincerity.
Adam absorbed Robin's words, and then took in a deep breath. He looked back down at the ground as he exhaled. He looked ashamed now that he had yelled. "I'm sorry Robin... I shouldn't be mad... It's just… I feel so fetching useless-" He was saying.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
The klaxons on the wall started blaring. Robin instantly pulled his T-Comm out of his belt, opening it for him and the others to see. His masked eyes narrowed at the screen.
"Looks like Johnny Rancid is hitting the streets with a new toy." Robin said.
Cyborg kind of half grinned. "Alright! I'm up for another metal smackdown!" Cyborg said excitedly, stretching his hands out in front of him.
"Oh yes, I can't wait to do the wrecking of the latest metal beast!" Starfire said joyfully.
"Bro, I bet it'd barely stand against the real deal." Beast Boy said proudly.
The Titans turned to run out the view. Adam looked caught off guard, and opened his mouth to speak again. "Rob-"
"Look. Just stay in the Tower and practice summoning your weapons for now Adam. We'll handle this ourselves before we come back and think of something easier to help you learn to use your powers." Robin told him, before he followed the rest of his team out.
"Yeah dude, you look like you could use a break." Beast Boy said from the door.
"And a shower." Raven's dry comment followed.
"Have fun friend Adam!" Starfire said cheerily.
"Don't go sneaking into the garage to touch my baby!" Cyborg yelled from down the hall.
Within seconds, Adam was left alone in the room. Adam's mouth was still open to speak. The klaxons around him turned off… finally, Adam sighed to himself.
"I guess I get to have the Tower all to myself... again..." He said.
There was a pause for a few seconds, and then he sniffed at himself. His face changed to a look of disgust. "I'll definitely shower… but first since there's nothing better to do." He said. He put a hand out in front of him to summon a sword…
A bronze shield appeared on his arm again.
An angry look appear on Adam's face. "Fetching mother of all fetch!" Adam yelled angrily as he took the shield off his arm. He chucked it Captain America style at the wall.
Author's Notes:
Well Golem, you said you wanted to see more of Adam. I hope that you enjoyed it! Also, I'm open to suggestions for a superhero name for Adam. Just in case anyone has some good ideas. When I wrote him out on my mission I just couldn't think of a good hero name so I just settled on the name Adam because of his powers source. Which won't be revealed for a long while. Anyways, hope you all have a great night!
Till Next Time
