A Long time ago, when I was just eight years old. I lived with my parents in karkaura town and my sister, Mizuho.
We weren't the perfect family. Mizuho Asano constantly bullied me, dad always broke us apart and punished us regardless of who started the fight, and mom often drank and laid around the house like a bum. But even so, we were a family who deeply cared for one another like anyone else, and in the end, I honestly didn't go through all hassles so long as they were there with me.
However, just like with many others. My family were agents of Xcution and assigned to protect Karakura town from the invading hollow hoards.
And they didn't have a choice. Those born with even slightly above spiritual power were either drafted to become a Quincy by sharing the soul of another one by injection, or you have a piece of the soul king embedded inside you. Not only so, one can get the abilities of either a complete Fullbringer or Quincy. But also, so to bring out the full potential of the user. All of which to empower the armies of the soul society and Earth to counter the hollow hoards.
And mom and pop while they were rather average as field agents. They were still strong enough to take down the regular hollows and even huge hollows even…Until the Arrancars appeared in mass and slaughtered them all in an instant. They were orphaning my sister and me alone and without even time to mourn. We were both immediately sent in by the Xcution to be trained. To replace our parents who just died.
Yet like our parents, we had no choice. Whether we valued our lives, our duty was to protect karkaura town whenever we wanted it or not.
But to me, that very apathy to our wants and desires made me hate and reject my duty. Even when it went against Mizuho's wishes. Resulting in a fight where both beat each to a bloody mess, and even though I always lost to her, I ended up disowning her as my sister out of spite.
Even when she cried out my name and begged to stay, I ignored her and abandoned her.
By the time I realized she was endangered, I regretted my actions against Mizuho…I was
powerless to save her, incapable of standing against the enemy that threatened her, and in the end, I was forced to flee to prevent her from sacrificing for saving my ungrateful hide.
All of this happened...because I allowed my pain to get the better of me and prevent me from
doing my duty. To what was right and made a choice that made everything worse for everyone involved, including me.
So, I pushed myself to the limit and beyond. To master any ability, I had not only to average the death of my sister but to redeem myself for leading to her death.
Even if I have to stare back at my failure face to face.
Keigo continued to star at the form Grandfisher took of his sister Mizuho, and while her appearance was flawless, her outfit remained the same as the hollow's resurrection's only downside. Saved for the absence of the enormous tusks on his shoulders, and instead of being bare-chested, she wore dark leather armor and a necklace made of fanged teeth. That showed off her lead yet muscular trained body.
Yet Espada's vicious grin was still there. Ready to tear his annoying fullbringer foe to shreds.
'Oh, what is the matter, Keigo?' Grandfisher pouted mockingly as he pretended to whip his none existing tears from his female face.
'Don't tell you to feel uncomfortable in attacking your own-'SMACK!'
Before Espada, she even realized it. Keigo socked him in the jaw and sent him flying into a nearby wall, causing him to collapse on top of him, opening a massive hole to the outside world behind it, and allowing rays of sunlight to come in.
'Don't play that crap with me, Fish Legs, ' Keigo spat dismissively. 'I am not some wangst teenage brat you can emotionally manipulate for your over-bloated amusement. You either fight me seriously or get your ass out of here!'
Grandfisher, while under the rubble, then takes everything Keigo said...and his smile grows even more viscously.
With a burst of spiritual pressure, The Espada blew apart the rubble away from him and stared down at Keigo. 'If that's how you want to play it!' He retorted while grappling a smaller version of his spiked club from under his cloak and then into a battle stance.
The Espada then lunged at Keigo at a speed that took even him off guard a moment later. As the latter hesitantly raised arms and quickly created a shield out of thin air to block the strike. Only for it to immediately shatter upon impact when it was hit by the red spikes and sent Keigo flying into the pillars. But before he could make contact, Keigo once again used his fullbringer powers to make the post rubbery. It was causing him to bounce harmlessly against it and let it land on the ground without fault.
'I know all about you fullbringers and your little tricks. Supposedly humans who had their mother attacked by hollows inherited the shame of their wounds. Allowing said humans to gain the power to bend and alter matter by manipulating the souls within. Whether it be using the carbon in the air to make that shield that blocked my strike or turning that stone pillar into rubber.'
Grandfisher explained while slowly walking up to Keigo. 'And I expect that fullbringer yours is an object with a soul you hold great pride in. Follows a similar procedure.'
Keigo then let out a deep tired breath. 'Your point?'
'My point,' the Espada said coldly while holding his spiked club up. 'My point Is that unless you can keep up with me. It doesn't matter how you manipulate matter. You can't control what you can't touch, and this form of this lure. It isn't just limited to just being an extension of my body or even shapeshifting into the memories of its target. But also compressive my spiritual power. Making me stronger, tougher, faster...'
The red spikes on Grandfisher's club then extended to several feet beyond his body height as his smile widened. 'Deadlier!'
Keigo's eyes then narrowed in dread. At the same time, Espada continued to walk toward him.
'Now, do you understand the difference in power between us, brat? No matter how strong you have gotten and how much you push yourself. You will never be my equal, as is the weak, fragile nature of your kind, and in the end, for all your efforts. You only delay the inevitable!' Grandfisher boasted while his smile then turned into a sneer.
'Take that knowledge to the grave as I extinguish that miserable, worthless life of yours!'
The 10th Espada then swiped club at Keigo as the extended spikes on the formers club cut through the rubber pillar, the wall behind it, and even though young fullbringer's chest. They were tearing apart fabric, flesh and drawing blood. Yet the wound lucky was shallow.
However, even as Keigo leaps himself up into the air with bringer light. Grandfisher was upon him.
'It is over Keigo Asano. You may push far beyond what your sister ever did. But never the less, you are still and forever be my inferior. Take heart that once I devour your soul into my being. You will be reunited with your long-departed sibling!' And so, the Espada lunge his spiked club at Keigo for perhaps the last time.
Only for him to hear a crack.
Then before Grandfisher realizes it, Keigo is suddenly behind him and the Espada, unable to help himself, gasps in bafflement and fright before swinging his club desperately at Keigo.
But like his arms beforehand, the club shattered to pieces, spikes and all. The moment Keigo hit it with his gloved fullbring.
'No…' Grandfisher whispered as fear began to take over his being. while struggling to maintain his composer. 'How…you were able to-'
'Avoid an attack that was impossible to avoid?' My fullbringer, of course. But to you, I guess that doesn't add up that rat ass excuse of analysis you made about it,' Keigo snarked, which caused Grandfisher to fly into a rage.
'SHUT UP!' he shouted, yet it sounded more like shirk. 'All I need to do is keep my distance, shoot you down from affair, and you are finished!
The desperate Espada then prepared to launch a Bala at Keigo. Before he could throw it, he once again heard an audible crack. Like before, Keigo appeared below Grandfisher and stuck the arm charging the Bala by striking under its elbow, shattering it, and canceling the attack.
Grandfisher, in frustration and unbearable pain, used Sondio to put a couple of meters of distance away from Keigo.
'You think that….' The Espada boasted hesitantly as he grabbed his broken arm, and already the bones began to reconnect themselves. 'That continuing to break my bones Repeatedly would lead you to victory! I will reconstruct my limbs again and again! No matter how many times you shatter them!' Grandfisher cried in a fury. But Keigo remains passive.
'Fish legs… the reason I only targeted your bones' structure wasn't that I was limited to that. It was because it was the safest route to take,' the fullbring exclaimed coldly yet passively, but Grandfisher looked at him in confusion.
'What are-?!' Grand asked only for a torrent of his spiritual rushing out of his arm and beyond control. 'What WHAT IS THIS!?' He screamed in panic.
'Spiritual power is amazing yet terrifying, especially for concentrated amounts. Pour too much than what the body can handle or weaken the body beyond what it can contain. It just tears itself apart' Keigo then looks at the uncontrollable spiritual pressure flowing out of Grandfisher's female arm.
'Or, in your case, blown itself apart.'
Grandfisher then stretched out his eyes in complete terror and disbelief at the overflowing spiritual pressure in his arm and then to Keigo.
'You…just what the hell are you!' He cried out almost pitifully. But Keigo showed no remorse.
'I am just like you said, Grandfisher. I am just an inferior human who wasn't strong enough or brave enough to save my sister' Asano then narrowed his eyes coldly. 'But I don't need to be anything more than that take... to take down scum like you.'
On hearing that on the 10th, Espada began to give in to his fear as he felt his spiritual power overwhelm his body. Tears and snot began to run down his face like unleashed dame of emotions.
Until it was all overtaken by rage.
With a glare in his female eyes, Grandfisher pinched into his other hand to the point it drew blood. An electric charged cero immediately formed in his hands.
A great ray, cero.
'Then die with me like the scum you are!' he screamed in spitefulness and hate and launched the strongest of all ceros at Keigo. But the latter remain calm.
'….I am afraid that it is only you this time.'
With a spike of own spiritual pressure. Keigo uppercut the great ray cero when it almost made contact with him. But instead of shattering like the bones in Grandfisher's arms and hands or a crack in the air itself. The cero itself pops open like a bluff of smoke—much to the stun hollow's utter incomprehension.
'Im-impossible…' the Espada muttered even as he began to lose the last bits of control over his spiritual power. 'That...That goes against the laws of the world itself!'
Yet Keigo sighed. 'Oh, I am afraid that the world's laws do not apply to me, but that doesn't. I want to get to your funeral at ground zero before Keigo leaves. However, he gave one last moment to the granfisher. 'Tied to make your last moments count.'
And with that, Keigo left with a burst of fullbriger light. While Grandfisher was left alone. Shock and Rage then gave away terror and the humiliation of his death as a lowly human. The dying Espada then notices the upper part of the building above him crumbling and falling apart. Yet instead of its remains instead falling to the ground, they rose in the air before fading away into dust. Then upon closer inspection of the air itself within the building itself. He also notices that their literal cracks within space and time slowly spread apart.
Then Grandfisher remembered how Keigo could move behind and the worlds that Keigo said to him about his power.
The laws of this world do not apply to me.
And all the fear and hatred of his enemy then turn into awe, respect, and acceptance.
'It would seem you were my superior, Keigo Asano, and I was your inferior as a lowly hollow.
And with that, Grandfisher's body exploded in a burst of spiritual energy. Whose red light consumed everything in sight.
