Hello, again.
Okay, first off, sorry if anyone was expecting something like this, but I honestly wasn't thinking when I 'merged' two decks together, so it'll actually be 'Synchro Warriors' instead, just with a few tweaks, seeing as the Signer Dragons aren't there yet. I made sure to change it in the previous chapter, but this is why.
And as for how long it took for me to get this to you, while admittedly some of it was me, by and large it was thanks to trying to make it a good one. Never been the best with things like duels, to be honest.
I don't own Yugioh GX or Fairy Tail.
Tale as old as time
XXPreviously, on 'Undead on Fairy Wings'XX
Bella looked on with light amusement in her eyes and neutral lips as the introductions to the main event got underway. The amusement coming from the crowd's reaction to Abigail's initial performance, the expression from the Princeton family.
Just a little bit ago, the Exceeds overheard Slade and Jagger pressuring Chazz pretty heavily to win the duel and 'do his part of the plan.'
This has gotten a lot more complicated. Bella mused when Crowler took the stage.
"A remarkable performance as always, but now it's come down to the reason we're all here." He began. "Ha-huh?"
Bella had took the mic from him. "Nothing personal this time, but some of us would probably take offense to you introducing them, quills or not."
"I'M NOT A HEDGEHOG!" Chazz immediately shouted, getting a round of laughter.
"You deaf or something? I said 'quills,' not 'hedgehog.'" Bella replied. "But since he apparently thinks so, let's start with him, shall we? Out of the Stubborn North, and here to prove his worth as a duelist instead of his worth as a 'prince:' Chazz Princess-ton-oops, I mean Princeton."
She was clearly not sorry, shown as she looked on innocently as Chazz came up and glared at her for her jab.
"Out of Central, he's certainly not another face in the crowd, but he's had trouble actually showing just how much potential he truly has-" "Yeah, thanks to you and Fairy Tail!" "until now: Jaden Yuki, the Hero of the Duel."
Said boy came up with a deadpan expression. "'Hero of the Duel.' Seriously?"
Bella mocked sighed. "My, what high expectations you have. Did you want 'Savior of the Universe' instead?"
"How about you take this seriously?" Chazz intervened, only for Bella to reply with "I wasn't talking to you, Deck Toy."
Chazz lightly stiffened at that remark, but only Bella and Jaden really noticed as everyone else was too busy recovering from the introductions.
"However, you do have a point. We didn't come here to simply talk smack with each other after all, sooo...here you go!" She tossed the mic back to Crowler and disappeared, reappearing in her previous spot.
Upon seeing Bella's hardened stare, Abigail couldn't help but ask. "Everything alright?"
"Princeton stiffened when I called him 'Deck Toy.'" Bella answered, glancing towards Slade and Jagger.
Abigail flinched from shock, but otherwise did nothing as the duel finally got underway.
Synchro Warriors vs. Dragon's Den
XXXXX
Turn 1:
"I'll start things off by summoning Masked Dragon in defense." Chazz declares, though surprisingly with a much more serious tone than his original arrogant one as said dragon appeared.
Bella raised an eyebrow in response. Did he actually learn something while at North, or was it something else?
It certainly bode watching.
Turn 2:
"A bit on the low side, but still smart." Jaden said, largely to himself before making his move. "I Special Summon Junk Forward in Defense, then set two cards."
A somewhat feminine robot-like being appeared, followed by two cards, one Monster and one Spell/Trap.
"Junk Forward?" Syrus asked up in the stands.
"You recall Zane's Cyber Dragon?" Alexis asked. When he nodded, she continued. "It works similar to a weaker version of it, except that it doesn't require you're opponent to have a monster on the field, just no monsters on yours."
"Huh." Bastion said, listening in. While the points aren't anything to note, the effect is certainly useful for Synchro decks, seeing as they need monsters on the field to Synchro Summon. And with it, Jaden already has two.
Turn 3:
Too bad for Jaden, Chazz had just gotten something for that. "I activate the Spell Future Fusion, sacrificing monsters to the grave for Five-Headed Dragon. Next I activate Cold Wave, keeping it safe, before sacrificing Masked Dragon for Strong Wind Dragon, raising it to 3600 ATK."
Both Bella and Jaden couldn't help but be mildly impressed with the combo. Future prospect, security, and boosted piercing damage.
"Attack Junk Forward!" (Jaden – 5900)
After the blast died down, Chazz ended his turn with a set card.
Turn 4:
"Smart, but still dumb." Jaden told Chazz. "Ryko, deal with his set card."
His set monster card suddenly flipped up as a white canine lunged at the targeted card, destroying it to Chazz's annoyance.
A couple of moments later, two new monsters appeared as well. "But it and my two new Fluff Tokens aren't going to stay for too long, not to mention Junk Synchron. Synchro Summon!"
An orange armored being appeared momentarily before all four disappeared and flew together as Syrus asked "Which monster summons Fluff Tokens again?"
"Dandylion." Alexis told him.
"I thought they looked familiar."
Back with Jaden and the duel, a new and taller warrior in orange armor and carrying a bow appeared on his side of the field. "Junk Archer, clear the field!"
The shot was strong enough to knock Strong Wind Dragon's card off of Chazz's Duel Disk, though Jaden did decide to explain this one. "Strong Wind Dragon's only out of play this turn, so just hold onto it until I'm done."
"A remove from play effect, huh?" Chazz remarked, putting it in his pocket for the moment.
Jaden then had Junk Archer attack directly, followed by ending his turn and bringing Strong Wind back (though back to base ATK). (Chazz – 5700)
Turn 5:
Dammit, his card is still there, and I don't have anything to take it out. Chazz noted to himself, then smirked. Although I do have something to help with that.
"First off, Future Fusion activates, bringing Five-Headed Dragon to the field." Chazz spoke, and right on cue said beast appeared, causing a few screams of shock.
Jaden, in the meantime, looked on with interest.
"I'll set a card first before having my dragons attack, starting with Strong Wind."
The first attack took another 100 off of Jaden's Life Points, but the second one was stopped by Bottomless Trap hole. Though, to some of the onlookers confusion, Chazz didn't look all that upset about it.
This time, Syrus stuck to straight-up taking his PDA and researching both decks, while Bella noticed a pair of narrowed eyes from Chazz's brother's. "Anything new from Things 1 and 2 over there, guys?"
"Just that apparently they're not happy with Chazz using this deck instead of one they set up." Mavis replied, exasperated. "Honestly, why can't we ever go somewhere without at least one person being tactically stupid?"
"I think, in this case it's more the two fuckers are into Politics and Business, not Dueling." Bella offered. "Wouldn't know a decent strategy if it caught them in bed together."
Abigail involuntarily snorted.
Turn 6:
Unfortunately for Chazz, Jaden's turn made the gap between them pretty big, via Monster Reborn bringing Junk Archer back, activating his ability and attacking, before setting two Spell/Trap Cards. (Chazz – 3500)
Though this attack did get the boy to stumble some from the force.
Turn 7:
"Damn." Chazz grunted as he straightened, then activated a card. "Mystical Space Typhoon! The one on the left!"
Said card was Limit Reverse.
He activated Lightning Vortex next, blasting Junk Archer back off the field and leaving Strong Wind open for a direct attack. (Jaden – 3800)
Chazz then lightly smirked for a moment. "And alongside setting two cards, I'll be activating the effect of Red-Eyes Wyvern. Come on out, Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon!"
"OH SHIT!" echoed from the audience as said monster came flying out of Chazz's graveyard.
Bella didn't react, though Jaden did raise an eyebrow at this new development. And combined with the two cards, this is definitely a challenge. Looks like he's actually upped his game while gone.
Turn 8:
His mind changed tracks when he added his new card to his hand. Jaden chuckled. "Sorry Chazz, but I'm ending this."
"Oh?"
"Though real quick, you've definitely stepped up your game. Much better than before." Jaden then began his turn for real. "First off, I'm activating Giant Trunade, followed by Special Summoning Quickdraw Synchron and Normal Summoning Junk Synchron."
Jaden let the two monsters show up before continuing. "With Junk Synchron, I bring Dandylion out of the grave, joined by Quillbolt Hedgehog via it's own Synchron-based effect."
Chazz wasn't the only one to figure out what was about to happen.
"I then first Synchro Summon Mist Wurm with Quickdraw, which promptly clears the rest of your field. Then, using Junk, the Synchro monster Junk Warrior joins it on the field."
Game, set, match. Bella concluded. Though Chazz this time is going out with dignity.
"You still have some work ahead of you, Chazz, but you're a student." Jaden declared loud enough for everyone to hear. "You aren't supposed to give instant perfect results, no matter your connections. Remember that, and you can only grow from here. Mist Wurm, Junk Warrior, end this."
Chazz never wavered as the attacks struck...with not as much force as most expected.
Winner: Synchro Warriors
"There you have it folks. Central wins the School Duel, and shows respect to their opponent. Unlike a pair of...honestly, I'm starting to wonder if they just want to get their brother in their bed and keep him there." Bella said to the crowd. "They're certainly moving fast enough towards Chazz for it, and on live TV as well."
"WHAT?!" Slade and Jagger looked towards the camera crew, and sure enough, it was still recording. "WE TOLD YOU TO CUT!"
Said crew just raised a unanimous eyebrow, declaring 'With the Angel of Darkness in the room? I don't think so.'
With the minor distraction, only Bella and Abigail noticed Chazz having already hightailed it out of there upon realizing that they didn't exactly deny the part with Chazz.
"I'll do something about Princeton, Abigail. Think you can contact Kaiba and get his help with these two?" At the girl's nod, Bella sped off after Chazz.
Though right beforehand, Abigail got everyone's attention away from the older Princetons, who were being 'escorted' by Security. "How about a song to get everyone back on track? This is supposed to be about dueling after all."
They were quick to agree, though not just on account of Slade and Jagger.
[Yugioh GX theme song]
Sorry if the end especially wasn't what people wanted, but it partly spur of the moment combined with signifying the moment for Chazz. In canon, this was roughly when he started becoming properly competent, so Jaden's final turn was all about respecting that in the open.
As for Slade and Jagger, that's more Bella just messing with them (...maybe ;p).
In regards to whatever songs Abigail did during the duel, just put whatever you feel was appropriate for it.
Until next time. Please let me know what you think.
