Hello Everyone, And Welcome Back!
First and foremost, sorry for taking more than three to update, thus leaving you all hanging for this long. I am definitely back and ready to give some closure. This is a 3 part chapter. I will be uploading the next two parts in the next few weeks. Hopefully, all before December ends. There are about five chapters left for this story, and I am really excited to finish it. I hope you all can forgive me for these 3 three years. I am also revising all the previous chapters because I know my grammar wasn't at its best back then. Not much better now, anyway, but a bit improved.
Please, let me know your thought on the chapter and the story. Any questions, suggestion, comment or review is very welcome and appreciated.
If there's any grammatical error, please let me know!
Thank you so much for all the support you have been giving me. I wouldn't be able to do this without you guys! Really, thanks VERY much!

Xoxo...

The Fallout - Part 1
Jane's anxiety was growing with each passing minute. When Maura told her that Claire and Melissa had vanished, she felt at the verge of a panic attack. She tried to ease her girlfriend and mostly herself by saying that probably they were doing something, and her phone died, but even though she tried, nothing eased the fear she was feeling.
She was at the breakfast bar, drinking her now lukewarm coffee. She could feel something was wrong, and she could also feel that Jack had something to do with Claire and Melissa's disappearance. But how? She kept on asking herself on her head. How could he know that? The brunette could not stop the infinite amount of questions she had on her brain.
"Jane?" A voice behind her called.
Jane jumped a little in the stool from the scared and rapidly tuned around to find Maura in the doorframe of the kitchen "Oh my god, Maura. You scared me," the brunette exclaimed with her hand placed on her chest.
"Sorry, honey" Maura apologized and approached the woman sitting on the kitchen stool and hugged her. "I know what you are thinking. I'm thinking the same, but if that is the case, we'll find however did this to them and put him behind bars," She assured. Jane just nodded as if she felt like it wasn't that easy. It wasn't as simple for her. If all that she was thinking was real, this was just as personal as it was when he hurt her family. But as these thoughts rumbled in her head, she figured that they were, in some way or another, her family too, and she needed to find them. She needed them to be safe and sound.
"Come on, honey. Talk to me. What is going on in that beautiful mind" Maura said, rubbing her hand against the lower back of her girlfriend.
"I don't know, Maur" Jane said, frustrated. "We don't know if there are ok or if something happened to them!" Jane exclaimed at the verge of a panic attack. Maura then got closer to the distressed woman. She placed her hands around her back from behind. "You scared, is understandable, but we won't do anything sitting here" she said, letting go of Jane's body. "Let's get Kathy ready and leave her with your mom for the day. I don't think it is safe for her to be in kindergarten today" Maura reasoned. Jane agreed and went upstairs to unlock her gun and get her things ready while Maura took care of the little girls. Thankfully, they manage to get the kid ready and out of the door in record time. Jane called her mom, who gladly agreed on taking care of the girl, the older woman now considered her granddaughter. She also spoke with Korsak to let him know what was going on and with Frankie to make sure there was some surveillance outside her mom's house in case Jack was the one behind all this.
They drove to BPD headquarters after dropping the kid at Angela's house. Entering the bullpen, she then personally debriefed Korsak and Frost about everything Richard has told Maura. However, they had nothing, besides just a picture of a piece of paper from Jack's daughter and Richard's denouncement. The first thing Jane knew was that she had to do, was to find Ally and gather as much information of Jack's previous whereabouts as possible to either discard or place Him as the primary suspect of the case.
She dialed Ally's number, after a few rings she picked up the phone "Hello" Ally simply answered.
"Hello, Ally, this is Jane…Jane Rizzoli" She said. "I hope you have a few minutes; I have to talk to you about something quite urgent," Jane said through the phone, trying to sound as stern and firm as she could.
"Detective Rizzoli, sure. What is going on" The woman on the other side of the line said.
"We need to know anything you might know about your father. We believe he is involved in the disappearance of two individuals. A mother and a kid" Jane said.
The line went silent for a minute. Only the background noises could be heard. "You do not mean Maura and Kathy, right?" she said, frighten.
"No, they are fine" She said and stopped hearing the woman on the other side of the line sight alleviated. "What is the last thing you knew about your father?" Jane asked next.
"Since he went back to Boston years ago, we lost most of our touch; he only called when he needed money and little more. He sent a note to me not long ago with a bizarre message, which I believe Maura told you about already," Ally explained and paused, trying to remember something useful "I didn't know how to interpret his words, but I knew it meant nothing good."
"Ally, I need to ask where you found the note?" Jane asked her.
"I find it inside the mailbox, not envelope, only the piece of crumpled paper that is on the picture I sent to Maura's phone yesterday," she explained and exhaled deeply. "Jane, I haven't seen my father in years; after he became an alcoholic and started being abusive, I cut any sort of contact with him. I'm sorry that I can't help more, but if I know anything that could be useful, I will call you straight away," the young woman said.
Jane could not help rubbing her forehead in frustration at the lack of leads they had on him. "I'll appreciate that, thanks" she said and hung up the phone. She rested her elbows on her desk, trying to think where else she could look. At that moment, she could see Richard coming out of the elevator, franticly looking for someone. Jane looked at him and their eyes crossed; he then, as fast as he could, he walked towards the detective. He was visibly shaken up and worried; his brow was furrowed pronouncedly.
"Where are they Jane!?" He exclaimed, exalted and nervous, coming inside the bullpen.
Jane approached the man. "We are looking for them, and we are not going to stop until we find them" she reassured the man the best she could. "Come with me. We need to talk" Jane then said, guiding the man to one of the interrogation rooms. "Richard, I need you to tell me what's the last thing you heard from Claire?" Jane asked in an attempt to gather as much information as possible.
He sighed and placed his hands on the table. "She called me yesterday after she picked up Melissa from day-care. She said she was going to her parents for the night so that Melissa could spend some time with them, and she could chat with her mom. That is why I called today" He paused for a second, trying to remember as many details as possible "at 3 pm, she called and told me she had Meli and was heading to her parents' house in Rockport. The next I knew, about an hour later, was that she would be stopping in Salem to change a flat tire. She then texted that she was at her parents' and she would spend the night there as it was getting late. And that's all I knew from her. When it was about 8:00 am today, I saw I had no calls or texts from her, tried calling her to see when she was coming back home, or she was taking Meli to kindergarten, and it is an hour drive from there. She didn't answer when I called her and then called her parents. They said she had left about an hour ago. I assume she caught some traffic or something and waited for another few minutes, but then not long after, her parents called too, asking where she was because she hadn't answered the phone or called them to let them know she was home. That is when I got worried and started calling her repeatedly. But nobody answered so; I called Maura to see if she knew something" He explained with as many details as he could all he knew about his wife and daughter. The man tried to say something else, but he started to stutter without being able to utter any more words due to his nerves.
Jane looked at the man with compassion in her eyes. "We will find them, Richard. I promise you that," she said, placing her hand on top of the man. She then left the room for a few seconds and came back with a glass of water for the man that was nervously bouncing his leg up and down and rubbing his sweaty palms.
"Richard, I need you to give me all the details of the car she was driving, a description of what they were wearing, and I'll need the address of your in-laws and their contact number. We'll try to recreate her steps. I need to please try and remember anything you can that could be helpful," she explained. "We will find them" she said again. The man gave her all the information she requested, promising to try to remember as many other details as possible that could lead the team to his wife and daughter. After they finished, Jane led the man to the exit of the building. While she was going back to the bullpen, she saw Maura talking to Korsak.
Both the M.E. and the detective looked at Jane, curious about what she had spoken with the man. "Well, as far as he knows, she when to her parent's house after she picked her kid up from the day-care. She stopped in Salem due to a flat tire and spent the night there; she left her parents house that went he lost communication with her" Jane filled the team in.
"Ok, I'll start contacting the car shops in the area and on the way towards Rockport," Korsak said, going toward his desk.
"Thanks, Vince" Jane said. "The car she drives is a white Toyota Rav4, 2017. The license plate is from Rhode Island, 956-736. He said it has a little bump on the rear-left back bumper and a Red Sox's sticker on the rear windshield" The brunette detective informed Frost, who immediately when to track any records on the car or any incidents that specify that particular vehicle.
Jane looked at Maura; she was stressed out; she was nervous and feared the worst. Maura could sense this, and rubbed the forearm of her girlfriend, giving her a small smile. "I'll call Claire's parents, don't worry" Maura then said. She was trying to lift some weight off her girlfriend's shoulders. Jane smiled thankfully towards the blonde who started to make her way out of the bullpen, going towards her office.
Jane went to her desk and contacted Salem's police department. "Hello, this is detective Jane Rizzoli from Boston Police Department. We are investigating the disappearance of Claire Hainsworth and her young daughter…" Jane explained all the details to the police officer on the other side of the line. She also gave them Jack's description for them to have something to look out for. "Thanks, officer Summers" Jane said, hanging up the phone.
She just stood there a few seconds motionless, looking at her reflection n the black screen of her computer. Her mind in a complete void. Her phone ringing took her out of her trance. Maura's name read on the screen.
"Hey, any news?" Jane asked upon picking up the phone.
"So, I spoke with her parent; they confirmed that they arrived at around 5 pm as she had to stop to change a tier. They said that she didn't mention the name of the car shop. But they said she mentioned that an old, green Toyota was behind her through the whole drive after she left Salem, up until around Manchester-By-The-Sea they car followed her. They didn't know much more; she spent the night there, and around 7 am, she left with Melissa still asleep in the car. They said nothing more seemed out of normal. She was her usual self, so the kid" Maura explained and added, "They are just worried."
"Ok, that's something!" Jane exclaimed.
Korsak then chimed in, "So, if we can track their route after they left Salem, we might be able to get the car license plate and model," He reasoned.
"Well, there are about fifty-something car shops in Salem, so this might take a while, but there are three main routes she could have taken to Rockport that go through Manchester-By-The-Sea. These aren't the more efficient time-wise to get to Rockport but could be worth it speaking with Salem's police department and ask for access to the CCTV system and check," Frost said. Jane grabbed the phone straight away and gave another call to officer Summers.
