It was a long ride on the subway back to Peter's apartment, but thankfully New York being what it was, barely anybody paid attention to the bloodied teenagers. They'd managed to clean up as best they could in the subway station's bathroom before hopping on the next line, But Katya's hair was still matted with blood and both their clothes torn to almost beyond recognition.

Katya didn't know if it was still the adrenaline, because she felt like it was beginning to wear off as pain flooded her weary body, but she was still so energized- and couldn't stop replaying the kiss in her mind. Her stomach churned, but in a pleasant way, as she glanced over at Peter, who was holding the same vertical pole she was but looking at the ground for the moment. She truly couldn't believe they'd survived- not only chasing and catching the Vulture, but a full on plane crash. And despite everything, he hadn't given up. He really was an amazing Spiderman.

Peter glanced up and met her gaze, but she couldn't tell if the pink on his ears and his flushed face was due to their eye contact or the mild burns they'd both suffered. Her hands were red and raw from prying off the scorched metal from the Vulture without the benefit Peter had of gloves, but it was nothing some balm and bandages couldn't fix.

Once they made it back to Peter's apartment it was late, and hopefully May was already asleep, but thankfully the bedroom door was closed, so they managed to slip in quietly and thankfully undetected. Her head ached something terrible, but at least the web bandage had held. Peter turned towards her, grabbing her shoulders as if to assess the damage. He hissed when he saw her hands. "I"m going to go grab the first aid from the kitchen- you can take a shower if you want, get that out of your hair." He made to tuck it behind her ear, but the matting made it difficult. They both laughed, a little bit nervously, and she nodded.

"A shower sounds nice."

And it was. Letting the warm water hit all of her sore spots, even though they stung the multiple cuts and scrapes that littered her body, allowed a shudder of relaxation to finally pass through her body. They'd done it. They were safe.

And Peter had kissed her.

It wasn't something she'd known she'd wanted, to be truthful, and she'd technically kissed him first which she'd hardly realized-it had been done with such haste and overwhelming emotion and relief- it was almost like she didn't register it. But the second one-

It was going to be a nice memory for a long time, that's for sure.

There was a knock on the bathroom door. "It's me." Peter's voice came through it, though unnecessary. Who else would it be at this time? The bathroom was attached to his room and again, it seemed May was asleep.

She heard the door open, then, and a quiet thunk as something was placed on the counter. "The first aid kit's in here, and I brought you a towel and some pajamas for when you're done."

Katya smiled to herself. She hadn't even thought past the shower part, and here he was, thinking it through for her.

I guess we watch each other, then.

It felt like she'd said that years ago, not weeks, with how much had changed since then. She never would have guessed how true that was going to be.
