Cheeks of Glitter
Sorry for the late update. I have not been motivated in writing because I have not been getting much feedback from people. So I tried other stories but still nothing. I'm doing my best but I still have not forgotten about this story.
Chapter Twelve
Stan bit his lip in hesitation as he felt his stomach twist in anxiety. He was happy with Heidi, and he was sure he was over Wendy. However, hearing what his friend had just asked him only sent him chills and possibly anger.
He didn't understand why somebody, especially a friend of his, asked him such a question. Not only that, but Stan also lacked the idea of Butters and Wendy going out. He wondered why Butters would even want to go out with her. Stan was not even sure if Wendy would choose to go out with the blonde boy, so the idea was unrealistic.
However, after thinking about what Butters has become made it more clear. He was not the loser geek he used to be. Butters had become more assertive and likable. Therefore, it would only make sense for him to have a chance with the smart, strong, beautiful girl that Stan dated off and on for two years.
Still, Stan did not like it. Even if he had moved on, the thought of somebody else going out with his ex-girlfriend made his fists clench.
"Stan?" Butters said, not understanding the long, awkward silence. He seemed eager to get the answer out of his friend, and he wasn't going to leave until he got it, whether it was an answer he wanted or not.
Stan shook his head. Not saying "no", but to come back to reality. "Why?" he asked. "Why do you wanna go out with Wendy?" He wouldn't be surprised if that question angered Butters.
However, his friend smiled, as if he were glad that he asked him that. "'Cause she's an amazing girl," he answered. "Don't you think? I mean, you did date her for a while. But you're broken up now, right?"
Stan let out a sigh and glanced up at the ceiling. "Wendy changed, Butters. She's not the same girl she used to be."
"I know."
Stan looked up at him and noticed that his face turned into a serious expression.
"She's better," Butters continued. "And you know, I think I would have a shot with her. We sorta have a connection."
"Since when?" Stan asked rudely.
Butters, though, avoided that question. "I just need your blessing. So, can I?"
No! Stan thought, but kept it to himself. He did not want to cause a scene. Butters, though, was still waiting for his answer, and he knew that he wasn't going to be able to escape until he told him it was okay. "Uh, well." He shut his eyes. He did not have a reason to not give Butters his blessing. "Sure, go ahead."
"Whoopie! Thanks, Stan. You're the best."
He did not feel like the best. In fact, he felt like he made a huge mistake as he watched his friend off full of excitement, probably planning his first attempt at asking Wendy out on a date. It was not a good idea, and the boy was not able to make out those words to Butters, but he did not want to sadden him.
"Hi, Stan!" Heidi exclaimed happily, startling the boy, who turned to see his new girl standing behind him. All his regret turned into excitement, so he smiled.
"I thought you were waiting at the playground," he said, even if he was excited to see her in the hall with him.
"I was thinking of doing something different," the girl replied as she took Stan's hand and giggled. She dragged him down the hall, making their way to the counselor's office.
It went by quickly. Stan thought it was a remarkable idea for Heidi to ask Mr. Mackey if they could make a school announcement to help protect the animals at the shelter. Her request was granted, and the girl joyfully squealed. "You will do it with me, right?" she asked Stan.
He did not hesitate as he felt the girl take his hands in hers, and the two smiled and gazed into each other's eyes. At that moment, Stan wanted to move things forward. Perhaps, if they went to the next step, they would surely become an official couple. He had no regrets on that idea, but he was too nervous to make the move.
"If you wanna kiss me, Stan, then do it."
The boy's eyes widened with shock as he heard Heidi say those sudden words. It was as if she was reading his mind, and that made him wonder if he made it too obvious. It was too late to back down now, because if he did, it would be too humiliating.
Stan never really had that chance with Wendy, at least not without vomiting on her. He waited for Heidi to step forward like Wendy would, but she didn't. She did nothing but stare at him in a way that made the boy feel responsible. She wanted him to make the first move.
It only took a few seconds before Stan slowly leaned forward, watching the girl closely. He wasn't sure if he was doing it right, and almost felt like he had to follow Heidi's lead as he saw her slowly lean in with her eyes shut. The boy shut his eyes as well and their lips meant.
Heidi's soft lips tasted like sweet coconut, and that made Stan refuse to stop until they held it for a good five seconds. The girl pulled away.
Stan's heart was racing, and one thing then raced through his mind. He did not throw up. Are we really meant to be? He thought. Was my relationship with Wendy a complete waste? He did not care, because he was happy.
"Stan, are you okay?" Heidi asked with sligh concern with a bit of giggling.
"No, I mean yes," he replied. "I'm great, it was nice." He heard Heidi giggle again, and the two walked out to recess, hand in hand.
Then, Stan let a few words wander in his mind. Sweet coconut lips.
After the first half of recess was over, Heidi told Stan that she wanted to go talk with her friends, which wasn't a bad idea, because Stan wanted to talk to Kyle.
"How's your foot?" Stan asked him.
"I think the medications are starting to wear off," Kyle replied in an almost normal tone as he clenched his teeth in pain.
"Do you need to take more?"
Kyle shook his head. "I have to wait a couple more hours. After lunch."
Stan then told Kyle about his and Heidi's plan to announce the animal shelter over the radio at lunch. It didn't surprise Kyle, who gave him support, but soon jerked his head away, trying to endure the pain his foot was getting.
Stan was sure, though, that he was more eager for lunch to come than Kyle was. Sure, his best friend needed to get rid of the pain in his foot, but Stan was going to have a radio date with Heidi. Nothing could compete with that, at least in Stan's opinion.
That, however, was slowly going down the drain, as Stan was late meeting Heidi in the hallway. He ended up getting sick from the lack of meat, and used the bathroom to get rid of the remains in his stomach.
Heidi had no idea what was going on. In fact, she used the time to wait for Stan to play out in her head what she was going to say over the announcements.
THe students raced to the cafeteria, except for Kyle, who only dreamed of getting his hands on his pain medications. He knew that he had one more hour left, but he figured now wouldn't hurt him. He slowly made his way down the hall and to his locker when he heard a familiar voice over the school mic.
"This is Eric Cartman, and I bet you are all wondering why you were forced to attend self esteem classes."
Kyle froze in shock as he heard his friend, and anger slowly grew. He did not know what Eric was planning on saying, but Kyle was sure that it was harmful to the student body.
"I want you all to be aware that self esteem class only gives us low self esteem! The idea of making us feel like we have low self esteem only makes us feel worse. What logic is that?"
Heidi was shocked to hear that somebody had taken her place over the announcements, and that somebody was Eric, her ex-boyfriend. His words saddened her and she couldn't help but feel depressed.
"Another thing," the obese boy continued, "is that wanting us to practice socializing in a healthy manner only makes us feel pressured to get the girls that we want. Not only that, but some people take that opportunity to betray you and take what's yours."
The students all over the school building murmured to each other. The teachers were highly annoyed, and the principal was distressed. Mr. Mackey was a bit confused. "Mmmkay, this was not the agreement," he said to himself and made his way out of his office to stop Eric from his unusual protest.
Kyle stopped in the hallway and his eyes widened as he listened to his friend. He knew that Eric was angry, but he wasn't so sure why he had to make it clear over the announcements. In fact, Kyle wasn't so sure he was feeling rage, but more so, shock.
"Sometimes, you don't know how to keep something so important to you," Eric continued, his voice weakening. "Maybe we just need more time to work on that. But you grownups made him take her away, and now I regret it. I regret not doing everything I needed to do to keep her.
Kyle felt his stomach twist, and hearing his friend's words only made the pain in his foot worse. His skin began to crawl, and then, in an instant, he felt a tear fall from his eye. It was as if he could feel his friend's pain, and that meant that Eric was being sincere.
Heidi bit her lip, not knowing what to think of all of this, and then she saw Stan in the distance staring at her. However, he didn't look angry, but more so ill. He had just got done throwing up, but he still felt sick, and he wasn't sure why.
Stan heard everything, and although his face did not show it, he felt guilty. He couldn't tell Heidi that, though.
Heidi, however, knew. She knew that Stan felt bad, and she waited for him to approach her. She wanted him to walk up to her and tell her that it was just Eric being Eric and that it meant nothing to him.
Stan did not do what she wanted. He did not approach her. He did not talk to her. He only turned and left the hall, making his way out of the school building.
