I finally beat the game and was thinking, what if Trilla wasn't killed by Vader in the end? What if Cal managed to save her in time? Thus, the birth of this story came about XD (I blame my muse once again)

Summary: Cal Kestis managed to escape Fortress Inquisitorius with Cere and a redeemed Trilla. With the Holocron destroyed to prevent the Empire from tracking down the Force-sensitive children, Cal and his crew begin searching for alternate ways to weaken the Empire. Yet Cal is not safe, for Emperor Palpatine has tasked Darth Vader with bringing him back...with the intention of turning him into his new Inquisitor.

Rating: T

Chapter XXXIX

During the flight to Coruscant, Cal spent most of the time wracking his brain trying to come up with a way for Jayna to escape before they landed at the spaceport. However it wasn't easy with the Stormtroopers and Seventh Sister on board the same ship they were on. Not to mention Jayna didn't want anything to do with him currently, which Cal wasn't surprised to find out because he would've felt the same were their roles switched in this scenario.

Therefore the only thing he could do was spend the trip in silence meditating in the room he had been given.

Finally after several warp jumps through the galaxy, one of the Stormtroopers announced that they had arrived on Coruscant. Cal replied that he was aware and put on his helmet to hide his expression. As he came out of his room, he saw the Seventh Sister dragging Jayna out with handcuffs around the latter's wrists. She glared in Cal's direction before being yanked off after the ship landed.

Darth Vader was waiting for their arrival at the spaceport when they stepped off the ship.

"Lord Vader," Cal and the Seventh Sister greeted simultaneously.

"You have done a good job. Bring the girl to the Emperor, First Brother. As for you Seventh Sister, I have a new job for you."

The Seventh Sister nodded and handed Jayna over to Cal before being taken aside to be spoken to privately by Vader. Meanwhile Cal had to put up a show and walked through with several Stormtrooper guards by his side.

This was actually Cal's first time being back on Coruscant after the execution of Order 66. He could see the immense changes that the planet underwent since the Empire took over. The only thing that did remain was the Jedi Temple, though he had a feeling it wasn't the same one he once grew up and trained in. It wasn't the place where Jedi could roam about freely anymore.

At the entrance the Imperial Purge Troopers gave way after confirming Cal's identity and he brought Jayna inside. Of course he already knew where the Emperor would be so the only thing he could do was make his way towards the throne room that was once the council chamber where the Jedi Masters would convene.

"Cal, don't do this to me."

He could hear Jayna whispering her pleas quietly for his ears alone.

I'm trying my hardest here to come up with a plan to save you.

Cal wanted to voice his inner thoughts to her but with so many Storm Troopers around, there was no way he'd be able to do so without arousing suspicion. Therefore the only thing he could do was to keep silent.

"I've brought Jayna Shan as requested by the Emperor," he informed the two guards that were standing outside the door.

"Enter," one of them replied.

The doors swung open to reveal Vader standing beside the Emperor. The two looked like they had been in a deep conversation but the moment Cal entered, they stopped and straightened up to face him.

"I've brought Jayna Shan," Cal informed, kneeling down on one knee.

"Very good Cal Kestis. You've made the right choice with your decision."

A Storm Trooper took over and brought Jayna beside Cal, then forced her onto her knees with a harsh kick to the back of her legs.

"Jayna Shan, I've waited for you for so long. Your father, though a failed clone of mine, was still too valuable an asset to be disposed of. Never in my wildest dreams did I think he'd run off and marry a Jedi Healer. Nor could I ever forsee him having a child either. In a way, you are of my flesh and blood," the Emperor said.

"You're not a part of my family!" Jayna spat defiantly.

A Trooper was about to smack her in the face with his blaster rifle but the Emperor stopped the clone. Getting up from his chair, the Emperor slowly descended towards the kneeling girl and stopped mere inches from where she was.

"Your connection to the Force is strong. With the right training, you will become a good Inquisitor on par with the one kneeling beside you."

Cal could feel Jayna's glare even through his helmet but he forced himself to remain calm and indifferent. There was no point in reacting, not with the Emperor and Vader standing a mere feet away from where they were.

"In your dreams!" Jayna hissed.

Suddenly sounds of fighting erupted from outside and the doors flew open as bodies of Storm and Purge Troopers flew inside. Cal jumped to his feet and spun around to see who it was, and the sight that he saw caught him off-guard.

A pair of white blades.

There was no mistaking it.

Ahsoka Tano was the intruder who managed to sneak her way into the throne room without being caught. Cal knew Ahsoka was smart and resourceful in her own way, but to think she'd charge headfirst into the heart of the Empire like this without any backup was more than suicidal. Yet before he could react, Vader was already on guard as the Sith Lord ignited his lightsaber.

"What is the meaning of this my apprentice?" the Emperor demanded.

"A loose end I should've tied up long ago," replied Vader as he advanced towards Ahsoka.

"Take the girl and follow me," the Emperor ordered, looking at Cal from the safety of his throne.

Cal had no choice but to pull on the handcuffs but before he could bring Jayna over to safety, Ahsoka distracted Vader long enough to toss something into the air. Looking up at the flying object, Cal realized it was a lightsaber that was being thrown.

"Catch it!" Ahsoka shouted.

Jayna whirled and knocked Cal off balance with a leg sweep and caught the lightsaber. She quickly ignited it, the hum of a blue blade emerging as she used it to remove the handcuffs around her wrists. Quickly picking himself back up, Cal reached for his lightsaber and joined the battle.

"You are no match for Ahsoka. Subdue the girl and bring her back to the Emperor," Vader ordered.

"Yes," Cal replied.

Just when Jayna thought she was going to have to suffer through whatever it is the Emperor had planned for her, the doors flew open and a Togruta appeared. It seemed this newcomer wasn't there to fight her, but the others in the room. Before she could react though, Jayna overheard the Emperor ordering Cal to bring her with them. Suddenly she sensed the Togruta was trying to get her attention and turned around.

Something was hurling through the air towards her.

Upon glancing closer, she realized it was the lightsaber that belonged to her commander.

"Catch it!" she heard the Togruta shout.

Quickly spinning around before Cal could react, Jayna swept him off balance with a leg swipe and managed to grab the lightsaber. She ignited it and used the blade to break the handcuffs off her wrists, then ran towards the Togruta in hopes of aiding her and perhaps escaping the place together.

Obviously she knew it wasn't going to be an easy task. She was most likely either going to have to fight off Vader or Cal, and she lacked any training to be of much help. The most she could do was perhaps buy enough time for the other Jedi to do whatever it is she needed to do.

The hum of another lightsaber drew her attention back towards Cal as the latter advanced towards her with his red blade. Steeling herself for a battle, Jayna gripped the handle with both hands and spread her legs apart. Though Cere never officially taught her how to properly wield and fight with a lightsaber, Jayna was an observant person to begin with and had been watching Cal for some time now.

"Don't do this Cal," she pleaded.

Cal didn't respond but he did swing down his lightsaber in an overhead arc towards her. Bringing her lightsaber up, she managed to block the blow with her own but could feel her legs slipping backward as Cal applied pressure to his blade. Gritting her teeth, Jayna shoved Cal off him and tried to land a strike but it seemed he was able to read her moves and easily parry them.

If this fight dragged on, she'll definitely be the one to lose.

Rolling to dodge another blow from Cal, she tried to aim a kick toward his chest but Cal was nimble enough to avoid the attack.

The humming and flashing of the sabers beside her didn't help much either, instead, it was a distraction to Jayna as she tried to keep her eyes on Cal.

Knowing he had the upper hand against Jayna due to the training he had, Cal could easily predict and dodge all of Jayna's moves while executing his own. Spinning his blade around, Cal aimed a blow to the side of her waist but Jayna managed to block it at the last second. Ahsoka suddenly joined the fight and aimed an attack at him with her twin sabers. He was caught off-guard by this as the blade came within a mere inch of his face, though Vader blocked the blow for him at the last second.

Knowing the Sith Lord didn't help him out of the kindness of his heart, Cal gathered himself and ignited the other end of his lightsaber. Splitting it down the middle like Ahsoka, he took up the Jar'Kai stance and aimed for Jayna again, but Ahsoka interfered once more. It became a two-versus-two battle at that point and Cal had to keep his attention on both the Togruta and Jayna.

It did help that he had Vader on his side to help, and the Sith Lord bore the brunt of Ahsoka's assault. Therefore Cal only had to deal with an occasional blow here and there from the Togruta while focusing on Jayna.

Seeing Jayna falter in her moves due to exhaustion, Cal seized the chance and knocked her off balance, then used his lightsaber to keep her at bay.

Thinking the battle was over, Cal let his guard down momentarily and that was enough for Jayna to pierce him through the abdomen with her lightsaber.
