It usually happens frequently on weekends, or when one of the two has had a stressful day and needs a place of safety to relax and forget the outside world. And this place is each other's lap, of course.

It's a Spring Saturday and the sun is shyly entering through the drapes in the bedroom window. Especially on days like this, Donna loves to read against the headboard. Today she has a clay mask acting on her face, an iced tea as company in one hand and a novel in the other. Harvey just got back from a jog practice, he and Mike are getting ready for a marathon that's gonna take place in town. Over the reading glasses she follows the way he enters the room, smiling at her and already walking towards the bathroom.
He took a quick shower, just to wash the sweat off his body, put on his boxers and went straight for her. Without warning, he climbed into bed and crawled to her, laying his head on her stomach, his arms encircling her waist. Donna automatically left the tea cup on the bedside table and brought her fingernails to rub his wet scalp. Feeling her care, Harvey breathed and moaned, relaxing his entire body on hers.
A few good minutes passed as she read and waited for the time to remove the clay from her face. Harvey didn't fall asleep, she knows, but he's quiet, his eyes closed, drawing patterns with his thumb on the sides of her and it's perfect for both of us there. Nobody had to say anything, they just need them.
Donna closes the book and drops it on the side of the bed and now has her two hands on him, the fingertips lightly caressing the back of his head, the ear, going down and up his back. She waits a little longer, until she gives him a little pat on the shoulder and he understands. Before he gets up and lets her go he fills her belly with kisses and rolls to the side.
Donna goes down to find his lips in a quick kiss. "I love you." She whispers. With his eyes still closed, Harvey smiles at her because he knows she's still staring at him.

Harvey is in bed at his doctor's request, a torsion in his left knee left him soaking at home for a few weeks. And that's why she finds him on the couch, his legs leaning on the coffee table, the laptop in his lap answering some e-mails. Her day was so bad, he has no idea. Well, his friend has been telling him a few things that she had to face today that he'd never seen the redhead so nervous in all the time that he's known her. So he can imagine.
Donna leaves leaving the pair of black heels, the bag and the keys on the table and goes to him. Harvey just takes the laptop out of his lap and waits. And she grabs him, lying on the couch, hiding her face in his lap, her hair falling, preventing him from seeing her completely. Then he brings one of his hands to ward off the red locks and leans over to leave a kiss on her temple and she relaxes. When she wants, she'll talk to him.
While one hand moves in her hair, the other responds to the missing e-mails. After a while she turned her face and opened her eyes to find his caring gaze on her. "I'm here, take your time." She responds by pulling his face close so she can kiss her husband properly.

Today they are both exhausted. Mike and Rachel took a few days to travel before the baby arrived. Donna and Harvey agreed that they would take over the firm for their friends. But everything that could go wrong happened that day. Even a leak upstairs that flooded their floor happened to make them more impatient. It's past 9PM and that's when they met at the elevator.
The doors opened and already inside the metal box the two breathed in unison.
"I just want to go home." Donna drops her head against the wall. And before she knew it, Harvey pulled her up to him, kissing her hair. "We're leaving now."
Now the two are lying in their bed, one in the arms of the other, breathing into each other, silently feeling the exchange of caresses between them, the slow breathing indicating that they are falling asleep together. That's what's best for them, finding refuge in the person they love. In another time they had to go through any situation alone, maybe a late night phonecall that relieved a little but was not enough. Now they have everything they need in each other.
