Back within Gennai's residence and after hearing the story of the old kingdom from Catherine, as well as the momentary flashbacks Davis and Kari had mentioned, the Digidestined had decided to remain with Gennai as they processed the situation.
While the majority of the Digidestined were talking to Gennai and Piximon, to come up with a plan as to fight the dark forces, Davis and Kari sat together on the couch, the Digidestined of Miracles and of Light looking through the book Catherine had brought, which allowed the pair to learn more about the story and their supposed past lives.
" I... I can't believe it..." Davis said, breaking the silence between him and Kari.
"I used to be a knight and you were a princess I was sworn to protect." The maroon haired Digidestined went on to say with further astonishment.
While Davis felt a close bond to Kari, a duty to ensure her wellbeing, he had always assumed it was feelings toward her, but realizing their bond was closer than he imagined left Davis bewildered.
Resting a hand on Davis' and giving him a soft smile, Kari told the maroon haired Digidestined. "I feel the same way."
"But I'm glad you were and always will be my knight in shining armour." Kari said as she looked at her boyfriend with a continued warm smile.
Leaning forward and acting on her heart, Kari then gave Davis a kiss on the cheek, the warmth from Kari's love earning a smile from the maroon haired Digidestined.
While Davis and Kari kept looking over the book and growing closer to one another, Tai had returned and was looking over the duo with a soft smile.
Though he'd always be her big brother, her protector, to see the bond between Kari and the man she loved, Tai knew Davis would protect her, no matter what.
However, much like the others within the Digidestined, Tai was astounded to know that his little sister was a princess in another life and her boyfriend was her knight.
Tai knew they had a strong bond when they met to become a couple but he never thought that love could venture so deep into their pasts.
The Digidestined of Courage then turned his attention back to the Digidestined, to Piximon and Gennai, who were all looking at the digital map of the Digital World.
"I've been checking if there were any strange dark activities in the Digital World, but I couldn't find anything." Izzy informed as he looked upon his laptop, the Digidestined of Knowledge growing frustrated as he was unable to locate their new enemy's presence.
"We won't give up until we find them." Jun said with determination, her role as a Digidestined and older sister kicking in. "I won't let those creeps hurt my little bro…"
Before Jun could finish her words, the group heard Biyomon calling out with concern. "Everyone, it happened again!"
The call caused the Digidestined, Piximon and Gennai turn and found Davis and Kari on the couch and in an unconscious state, the sight concerning Veemon and Gatomon, who were doing all they could to ensure the mental wellbeing of their partners.
- Kari Flashback-
Reliving another experience from his past life, Daisuke found it was his first day training as a knight, his sworn duty to protect Princess Hikari and their kingdom from any and all threats.
Standing in the courtyard and now clad in armour alongside the others knights in training, Daisuke braced himself for his first lesson, the maroon haired boy looking forward to what he could become.
"Today, I will test you on your sword skills." Taichi said as he approached Daisuke and the other knights, the brunette keeping a firm eye on the students. "I will see if you are worthy to be a knight and we'll start with some one on one. Starting with you."
Taking out practice swords and pointing toward the knight in training on the far right and after thirty minutes, the knight in training showed his skills, but had no luck striking Taichi.
This repeated amongst the other knights until Daisuke was the only one standing.
"You know, just because my sister wants you as her knight, doesn't mean I will go easy on you." Taichi said as he got into a fighting stance, expressing a continued seriousness in his tone.
Ready to see if the boy Hikari wanted as her champion was indeed worthy, Taichi was prepared to give it his all.
Daisuke smiled in reply as he withdrew the practice sword and got into a fighting stance, telling the older brother of the Princess and his teacher. "I don't want you to go easy on me. If I want to be princess Hikari's knight, I will need to train no matter what."
Grinning back to Daisuke's enthusiasm, Taichi then charged toward the knight in training and rushed toward Daisuke with his blade drawn.
As Taichi closed in on Daisuke, the brunette was about to strike, but found the maroon haired knight blocking the attack with his sword, the defensive maneuver an actual surprise to Taichi and other knights in training at how fast Daisuke moved to block the attack.
"It looks like you have good speed to block my strike, but you've left yourself open!" Taichi suddenly said as he swept his right leg underneath Daisuke, kicking the maroon haired knight off guard and to the ground.
Quickly regaining his balance and resuming his fighting stance once again, Daisuke returned to the fight between him and his teacher, the maroon haired knight then charging himself toward Taichi and clashing his blade with the teacher's.
Exchanging blows as their swords continued to clash, Taichi held a mental smirk toward Daisuke's skill, to see protecting his sister was no fluke.
All the while as Taichi continued in his test toward Daisuke, Princess Hikari made her way silently through the castle hallway.
A little exhausted after finishing her own training, to master her power within her, the brunette came to a halt as she heard the sound of swordplay caught her attention.
Looking out the window of the castle and into the courtyard, Hikari's eyes landed on Taichi, to see her sibling instructing the knights in their very first lesson.
Though Hikari had witnessed her fair share of Taichi's lessons, looking upon Daisuke, Hikari felt something special about the maroon haired knight, to see he held a great determination through his swordsmanship.
Although they had only met a few days prior, Hikari continued to observe Daisuke with a warm smile, feeling warm, protected, and something deeper within her heart as she continued to observe her chosen knight.
However, her smile then soon faded and was replaced with concern at seeing Daisuke suddenly struck down by Taichi's powerful blows.
Although this was all training, Taichi held nothing back, the brunette continuing to show his superior training to knock Daisuke down to the floor.
Her concerns for Daisuke growing, Hikari felt confusion mixing with her emotions, to see each time he was struck down and despite Taichi offering to take a break, Daisuke just pulled himself up.
Before the princess could rush toward the courtyard, to stop the training and express her emotions, the brunette felt a soft and gentle hand rest itself on her shoulder.
Turning, Hikari looked upon the orange haired girl standing before her.
Taking in her appearance, the orange haired girl wore a red dress, which flattered her appearance, although looking upon the collar fastened around her neck, Hikari knew she was just one of the few who faithfully served their kingdom.
"Princess Hikari, you shouldn't be worried for your brother and that boy, Daisuke. This is all part of their training to ensure your protection." The orange haired girl said with a soft and caring smile, one which Hikari reflected.
"Thank you, Serena." Hikari replied, her smile remaining as she continued to speak with the servant girl. "You always seem to have my back."
"I am just doing my duties, my Princess." The servant girl, Serena, said back with a continued kindness in her voice, which furthered the smile upon Hikari's face and the warmth within Hikari's heart.
Even though Serena was a servant, a position most would look down upon, Serena was content with the lifestyle bestowed upon her, namely as she spent the majority of her time serving alongside Hikari and Taichi, who treated her with absolute respect and kindness.
Refusing to allow their social positions to change their bond, Hikari had come to see Serena as more than a friend or as a servant, almost like a big sister in the way Serena had always remained by her side and did what she could to ensure her happiness.
Being in service to Hikari for so many years, Serena had grown very close to the Princess, the orange haired servant girl often taking time away from her responsibilities around the castle to chat with Hikari, to make sure her Princess was always in a good mood.
And despite their close bond, and even with Hikari's permission, Serena continued to wear her collar, to display her status as a servant to their kingdom, which puzzled the Princess, but from the years spent under such servitude, Hikari briefly understood Serena's show of loyalty and obedience.
Though the kingdom was prosperous and looked after its citizens, there were always a handful of unfortunates brought up into the world, one of which being Serena.
Convincing Hikari to sneak out with him and to check out the life outside the castle walls before their responsibilities truly became serious, Tachi had led his sibling through the castle streets, to take in the sights of the world they had gazed upon through high windows.
Although things started off as a nice change of pace, a great sickness befell Hikari, which left the young Princess very weak and filled Taichi's heart with concerns.
Afraid of his sister's condition and the possibility his sister could die, Taichi was unsure of what to do for his sibling, but found some hope returned to him when he was met by the fourteen year old girl that was Serena.
Offering her kindness and using her knowledge of the streets around her, the orange haired girl managed to find and appropriate a handful of items which assisted and aided in Hikari's recovery.
After giving his little sister the medicine that she needed and escorting the brunette back to the castle, the trio were then shocked as the city guard arrived, each with arrest warrants for the orange haired girl for her acts of theft across the entire kingdom.
"Hold it right there, thief!" One of the guards called out when he stopped Serena, confusing both Taichi and Hikari at what was happening.
Immediately placing Serena under arrest and to be sentenced for her crimes, Taichi and Hikari defended the orange haired girl, knowing that though she was a petty thief, she had a pure heart.
Telling the guards that Serena had aided Hikari and that she very well saved her life, Taichi did what he could to defend Serena, knowing his status could only get the orange haired girl so far.
Escorting their captive back to the castle, to be sentenced by Taichi and Hikari's parents, though a minor, Serena's punishment for her crimes wasn't taken lightly.
However, continuing to speak up, to defend her, Taichi and Hikari managed to ease their parents' decision, allowing Serena her freedom in a way, in exchange she served the Kamiyas family as a servant.
This being a shock to Serena, the orange haired girl found this change in her life to have its benefits.
No longer living on the streets and living on whatever rations she could get her hands on, Serena was given her own quarters alongside the other servants of the kingdom, the orange haired girl assigned to fulfilling the duties of Taichi and Hikari, who soon grew a close and a near inseparable bond.
Returning to the present, Serena noticed the way Hikari was looking at Daisuke.
Looking upon the knight who continued to push himself against Taichi, this causing the orange haired servant girl to ask. "You like him, don't you?"
The question throwing the Princess off guard, Hikari was left blushing deeply, unable to find the words she wanted to express a reply.
But looking over Serena and seeing her remaining with a kind smile, Hikari regained her composure, her blush dying down, but having to ask with a stutter. "Ho... how did you know?"
"The way you keep staring at him, it's as if I can feel something inside of my heart telling me you like him." Serena said in reply, the orange haired girl admitting to herself she found this ability somewhat strange herself, but remaining focused on her duties toward Hikari, Serena allowed the brunette to speak her mind.
"I do like him, but I'm afraid that my father won't accept him." The young princess said in solemn tone, her pain empathetic toward Serena.
"Do not despair, Princess. I don't know about love or anything about royalty, but I know you shouldn't deny your heart. When you have the chance, find your love and tell him that you love him." Serena said with a growing positivity in her tone, which was then reflected within Hikari's expression.
"Thank you, Serena..." Hikari said, the brunette surprising Serena a little as she wrapped her arms around the orange haired servant and hugged her with affection, the action causing Serena to copy and to reply softly. "I am always at your command, my Princess."
Smiling herself, the orange haired servant knew the pain the princess was going through, for Serena had fallen hard for her brother, first from the moment she met him, and then after he saved her life.
But as a servant, the orange haired girl knew that she could never be with a prince, no matter what.
Returning their attention back to the knights and their training, Hikari and Serena's attention remained solely focused upon Daisuke and Taichi, to see the captain of the knights assist Daisuke to his feet and to finally officially end their match.
"Let's take a break for now." Taichi suggested, the brunette overlooking Daisuke, who was breathing heavily and seemed to be set within a mental conflict with himself.
'I couldn't even land one hit on Taichi...' the maroon haired knight thought, knowing such a lacking skill would keep him from protecting Hikari.
But shaking his head of his negative thoughts and toward Taichi, Daisuke refocused completely on his training and waited for his teacher's further instructions, his attention solely focused upon the one who could give him the strength and skills needed to truly serve the Princess.
-End Flashback-
Starting to stir from their shared states of unconsciousness and slowly awaken from their distant states, Kari awoke first, her eyes fluttering open to find herself resting upon the couch within Gennai's living room and atop of Davis' chest.
Her emotions a mix, blushing from her position and the dream she had, Kari was drawn toward Davis, to hear the maroon haired Digidestined groan a little as he too awoke.
"Kari...?" He asked with a raspy voice, before pulling himself to a sitting position and allowing his girlfriend to rest herself in his lap. "What happened?"
"You two were reading about your history together and suddenly collapsed." Gatomon informed the feline Digimon keeping a close eye upon the Digidestined of Light and of Miracles in case another fainting spell affected the duo.
"Sorry we couldn't space you guys any further." Sora apologized, before the Digidestined of Love then told her friends. "But the way you two continued to hold onto each other, it just felt wrong to separate you."
To make sure her friends were truly alright, Sora approached Davis and Kari, who looked upon the Digidestined of Love with shared smiles, before the brunette, after sliding herself from out Davis' embrace then said in reply. "Sorry for worrying you again guys."
Looking upon Sora with a warm smile, Kari was happy to have a good friend such as her, to have someone she looked up to. almost like a big sister, that was until the Digidestined of Light remembered what she just witnessed.
"Sora, can you please bring Tai?" Kari asked, the brunette informing the orange haired Digidestined. "I wish to tell you what I just saw in our dreams."
Sora nodded in reply and understanding, before the Digidestined of Love sought out their friends, Gennai and Piximon, where, after a few moments, Sora returned, escorting Tai and the others back into the living room.
Taking a seat on the couch beside Davis and Kari, the Digidestined remained silent, curious to what Kari needed to tell them.
"You're not going to believe what I'm going to tell you. In my dreams I remembered that Sora was also linked to my past, that she was a servant to our kingdom, but she was also a very good friend of mine." Kari told the others, her words a surprise to the Digidestined of Love.
"And Tai was still her brother, but he also was a prince and captain of the Knight's academy, as well as a pain in the ass as a teacher." Davis then added as he grumbled the last part, still having the memory of Daisuke's first training session still fresh in his mind.
Surprised by what Davis and Kari had told them, to now know there were others linked to their past lives, Tai questioned. "Wait so you're telling me that Kari wasn't only the princess of the past kingdom, but I was also a part of this royal past life?!"
Nodding to Tai's confusion, but unable to express their experiences any further, an alarm sound started to fill the house, the sudden blaring caused the Digidestined and their partners to rise from their seats and to follow Gennai, who led all toward a series of television monitors.
"What's going on, Gennai?" The Digidestined of Courage asked, expressing a concern shared amongst the Digidestined and their partners.
"We've got trouble." Gennai informed, the Digital Being bringing up the imagery of ShadowBlademon and his dark warriors upon the monitors. "It appears that the new enemy has sent some of his forces to confront us."
Turning back and looking amongst his friends and his girlfriend, Davis then said in a serious tone. "I'm going to have to give you guys a heads up, we don't know just how strong his soldiers are, but their leader is really strong."
"It took all of Magnamon and Angewomon's power just to injury him, so we need to be careful against them." Kari added with her own seriousness, letting the Digidestined know just how strong their new enemy was.
"Don't worry, Kari, we'll be careful. I won't let this creep and his buddies take you away." Tai promised to his sibling, his words and the emotion shared amongst the older Kamiya brother, Agumon and the remaining Digidestined and their partners.
In agreement with Tai and expressing her own emotion, expressing her care as an older sibling, Jun looked over to Davis with a smile, telling the Digidestined of Courage and Friendship. "That goes for me too! I know sometimes you can get annoying, but still I care about you, squirt."
Smiling back at Jun's enthusiasm and encouraged to fight, Davis said with pride within himself, Veemon and their friends. "Let's go guys! It's time to kick some Digimon butt!"
Taking the lead, the Digidestined of Miracles then headed to the front door, leading Veemon and the other Digidestined close behind.
"Be careful out there, young ones." Gennai said as he watched the Digidestined leave his residence and to face their unknown and dangerous foes.
-Outside of Gennai's residence-
"So, this is where the Princess and her annoying little lapdog have been hiding?" ShadowBlademon questioned as he looked upon the exterior of Gennai's house.
"Lure the Princess out and attack." He then commanded his soldiers, who then charged toward Gennai's home, to destroy whatever blacked their path.
However, the dark army came to a sudden halt when a great blast of energy struck the ground in front of them.
Turning his head up, ShadowBlademon looked to see Paildramon hovering in the skies, the Digimon of Miracles aided alongside WarGreymon, MetalGarurumon, Garudamon, Lillymon, MegaKabuterimon, Zudomon, Silphymon, Shakkoumon and Taomon, who all glared down upon the dark forces approaching the house.
"This is your last stop!" Paildramon said through Veemon and Wormmon's mixed voices, before the Digimon of Miracles then fired himself down and toward the enemy.
"You think strange creatures such as you will stop me from completing my quest?" ShadowBlademon questioned, the Dark Digimon drawing his blade and declaring. " My Dark Lord has sent me to capture the princess and her annoying little lapdog. Nothing will stand in my way! Attack them!"
The dark Digimon's soldiers, which Izzy saw on his Digidex to be called Dark Troopmon, began charging at the Digidestined, which caused the Digidestined of Knowledge to look startled as there wasn't any real information on their new foes.
"Be careful, they're a whole type of new Digimon we have never encountered before." Izzy warned, before the Digidestined of Knowledge looked back at his laptop and added. "From what I gather, they're known as DarkTroopmon, Dark Virus types who fight in large numbers with precise battle tactics."
Looking amongst the vast forces opposing them, and his familiar lead, Paildramon told his allies. "Lillymon, MegaKabuterimon and Taomon, you stay here and protect the house."
"Garudamon, Shakkoumon and Zudomon, see what you can do to take down those DarkTroopmon." The combined Digimon of Miracles and Kindness went on to say, his call leaving WarGreymon, MetalGarurumon and Silphymon to fight along his side and against ShadowBlademon.
"Great Tornado!" The Digimon of Courage declared, being the first to strike against ShadowBlademon as his body spun around at a rapid pace, tearing through the area and toward the dark entity.
Despite the great force of Wargreymon heading straight for him, ShadowBlademon remained standing in place.
"Is that your idea of a joke?" ShadowBlademon questioned, showing scorn toward the Digimon of Courage.
"Let me show you what real power looks like. Dark Sickles!" The Dark Digimon then bellowed.
Quick to act, ShadowBlademon withdrew his weaponry, his blades ignited in pitch black flames, which he swung forth, releasing the energies from off of his weapon and crashing into WarGreymon's being.
Clashing against the darkness, WarGreymon growled in pain and frustration as he tried pushing through the attack, before breaking through.
However, the attack not only caused the Digimon of Courage to lose a fraction of his speed and power, but the impacting darkness also sent him off course as he shot past ShadowBlademon, crashing into the ground next to him, while the Dark Digimon showed no reaction such a close chance at his end.
And from their position, the remaining Digimon were shocked at what had just occurred before their very eyes, to see the Digimon of Courage repelled by such an attack.
"He deflected WarGreymon's attack!?" Silphymon questioned, expressing a shared astonishment shared amongst the chosen Digimon.
"Remember, these aren't exactly normal Digimon. We don't really know just how strong they are." The Digimon of Friendship said in reply as he prepared to attack.
"It is my turn now. Phantom Slash!" ShadowBlademon then declared as he swung his blades together, forming a shockwave of darkness shot out and toward his foes, the attack forming a massive X as the dark energies surged onward.
"We will stop you and you will pay for hurting our friend!" Paildramon bellowed with might, his words causing the remaining Digimon to nod in reply, sharing in Paildramon's determination.
"Desperado Blaster!
"Ice Wolf Claw!"
"Static Force!"
Their abilities combined into a single attack of energy and ice then clashed with ShadowBlademon's darkness, pushing against the evil energy sent against them.
But even with their attacks combined together, the dark energy was too powerful, even pushing back and breaking through the combined force of Paildramon, MetalGarurumon and Silphymon.
Taken aback by this turn of events, to see their teamwork remained no match for ShadowBlademon's darkness, which then headed toward the trio.
As Paildramon and MetalGarurumon managed to recompose themselves and to react, leaping out of harm's way, looking back down, the pair found Silphymon locked in place and frozen in fear.
Acting fast, and on his feelings to protect those he cherished, Paildramon quickly moved in front of Silphymon, the ExVeemon side of the DNA Digivolved Digimon desiring to protect Gatomon, no matter what the cost.
"Paildramon!" Silphymon cried out to the horrifying sight which then played out before her, to see the fusion of ExVeemon and Stingmon struck by the dark energy blast, causing screams of agony to escape from Paildramon.
Unable to maintain himself as the darkness circulated along his body, Paildramon then collapsed before Silphymon, the Digimon of Miracles and of Kindness reverting back to the clearly damaged forms of Veemon and Wormmon, furthering the concerns within Silphymon, namely concerning the Gatomon side of the Ultimate Level beast based Digimon.
"It appears not even your pathetic pet could match my power." ShadowBlademon commented with a dark tone, the Dark Digimon offering. "Hand over the princess and her champion and I might consider sparing you."
"That's not going to happen, creep!" A voice suddenly called from behind, the courageous bellow causing ShadowBlademon to turn around and to find WarGreymon pulling himself up as he returned to his feet.
"We won't let you lay a hand on our friends, no matter what it takes!" The Digimon of Courage then said with a further emotion in his voice, before he charged toward this enemy once again.
Closing in on ShadowBlademon, WarGreymon swung his arms forth, his claws lashing upon the Dark Digimon, who responded with his weaponry, dodging and parrying every single attack WarGreymon threw upon him.
"It appears you never learn from your failings, pathetic creature. I'm far stronger than you..." ShadowBlademon began to say, expressing a continued arrogance upon his enemy, which faded when a sudden and mighty voice from behind caught him off guard.
"Garuru Tomahawk!"
Turning around, ShadowBlademon had no time to react as a missile shot down and struck his being.
Groaning greatly as he was thrown back from the missile then erupting and releasing a chilling hail of ice, ShadowBlademon snarled a little to see MetalGarurumon back in the fight.
"He's never alone. Never take your eyes off your enemy." The Digimon of Friendship told ShadowBlademon, his tone remaining strong as he looked to his friend and declared. "WarGreymon, together we can do this!"
The Digimon of Courage nodded in reply to MetalGarurumon, knowing their best bet to stop their new enemy was by working as one.
Leaping back and landing beside MetalGarurumon, WarGreymon brought his hands up, concentrating himself and his power for another attack against ShadowBlademon.
"Terra Force!"
"Grace Cross Freezer!"
Combining their power, WarGreymon cast forth the gathered energies within the orb, throwing it toward ShadowBlademon, which was powered further as MetalGarurumon's missiles collided with the energy orb.
The added power actually launched WarGreymon's attack forth, which tore through the area, tearing up the ground and all that stood in its way.
Colliding with ShadowBlademon, the entire area erupted through sheer power, the might of WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon further tearing up the area and wiping out more than half of the DarkTroopmon who were unfortunate to land within the destructive path.
Looking upon the destructive blast caused by their great power, the Digimon of Courage and of Friendship remained stationed, curious to see if their might had eliminated the Dark Digimon.
However, chilling laughter filled their ears, a sight shocking WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon to see ShadowBlademon emerge from the uproar of smoke, to see their opponent had survived their power, but had undergone a Dark Digivolution.
Losing his more knightly appearance, ShadowBlademon now stood as a terrible behemoth, a creature of stone-like skin, which pooled with dark purple flames that escape the cracks running along his body.
Taken aback by the sight, ShadowBlademon was also in confusion, looking himself over and questioning. "What has happened to my body? Why do I look different?"
Astonished themselves, WarGreymon questioned with a further shock in his tone. "D… did he just Dark Digivolve?"
Overhearing WarGreymon's questioning, ShadowBlademon looked upon his form, the Dark Digimon gaining a sinister expression. "So this is what you creatures call Digivolving, the change in your appearances and your power?"
Embracing the further dark power now part of his being, ShadowBlademon rushed toward WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon, his blades drawn.
"With this new form and this great power, I will destroy all of you wretched creatures and capture the Princess for my Lord. No one will stop me !" The new form of ShadowBlademon bellowed with a further power in his tone, his dark infused blades cutting through the Digimon of Courage and of Friendship.
Through the attack, WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon were thrown back, the pair crying in further pain to the damage inflicted to their beings, all the while Silphymon could only watch, to see his friends taken down once again by ShadowBlademon and his great power.
His hands trembling, fear and concerns overtaking the united form of Gatomon and Aquilamon as he was left uncertain as to how they could take on such a dark force, Gatomon froze up at the feeling of Kari's light filling her heart.
Her body illuminated from within their united form, Aquilamon looked over the Digimon of Light in awe, the Digimon of Love and Sincerity feeling the radiating light begin to affect his body, giving the pair the strength to fight back.
"Together we can put an end to this. We can protect Kari, Davis and everyone." Gatomon declared Aquilamon, who silently nodded in reply and allowed the light to further envelop their shared mindset, to allow Gatomon's heart to consume them.
.
.
.
Remaining by the wounded forms of Veemon and Wormmon and seeing the blow to the Digimon had taken an even greater effect than first anticipated, Davis was overtaken with concern.
"Just hang in there pal. Everything will be alright." He told the damaged form of Veemon, who he scooped into his arms.
Looking Veemon over and scowling, Davis felt a sense of powerlessness.
He hated that it was because of him that Veemon had sustained his injuries in the first place, and he didn't have the medical skills to help him.
Ever since breaking the seal and freeing Veemon from the Digi-Egg of Courage, there was always a small part to Davis which felt powerless and hated himself, to see Veemon fight on his behalf and to save the day, only for the credit to be divided amongst himself and his partner.
Expressing his own concerns as he scooped up Wormmon and knowing their situation remains of danger, Ken suggested with a seriousness within his voice. "Davis, we aren't safe here. We should take Wormmon and Veemon back before..."
Ken however was suddenly cut from his concerns, pain filled cries emitting from the Digidestined of Kindness as a blast of dark energy struck him in the back.
"Ken!" Davis called, his tone growing in concern and fear. "Are you okay? Can you hear me?"
"Do not worry for your friend, he will live." Davis heard a voice of malice tell him from behind, the wicked tone causing Davis to turn and to glare toward ShadowBlademon.
"I only came for you and the princess." The wicked entity then said with a continued evil in his tone, giving the maroon haired Digidestined no time to act as he then swung his arm forth, striking Davis with a great force, which sent him crashing back into a nearby tree, the pain filling the now trembling Digidestined.
Approaching the fallen form of Davis and staring him down, ShadowBlademon said with a cruelty which lingered in his tone. "My Lord told me to bring you and the princess alive, he didn't say I couldn't hurt you in the process."
Drawing his blade upward and ready to strike Davis again and to further his pain, the sight of the fallen Digidestined caught the attention of Kari, who screamed for her beloved's name in growing panic and ran toward the dangers ahead of her.
Pushing past her fears and seeing Davis now needed her and pushing herself toward certain peril, Kari felt something strange stirring within her.
Each step she took to reunite with her beloved brought up a faint memory of her past, which seemed to grow clearer within Kari's head.
Reliving another memory of her past life as Princess Hikari, the brunette found herself standing behind Daisuke, to see her maroon haired knight barely able to stand as a blade pierced through his body and narrowly avoided contact with her own.
Absolute dread overtaking her breaking heart, the past incarnation of Kari knew the pain of her knight and beloved was meant for her, that Daisuke had made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure she would live.
Tears trailing down her face and shaking her head, allowing herself to refocus on Davis and ShadowBlademon, Kari refused to allow her past to repeat itself, refusing to allow the darkness harm her beloved any longer.
"I won't let you hurt the person I love again!" The Digidestined of Light declared, pouring her emotion, which caused a sudden stream of pink light energy to then form itself around Kari's being.
Acting as a protective barrier around her body, the light then pushed ShadowBlademon away with a mighty force, the sight shocking Davis and those present.
Uncertain to this power, but feeling its strength radiating through her, Kari allowed the light energies to further expel from her body, which were released as wave after wave of light, the divine power cutting through and wiping out the DarkTroopmon legion and inflicting a devastating amount of force upon ShadowBlademon.
Barely able to stand against the further power expressed through the Digidestined of Light and rendered close to powerless, WarGreymon, MetalGarurumon and Siphymon took the chance to deliver a great blow to the wicked entity.
"Terror Force!"
"Grace Cross Freezer!"
Gathering a great amount of energy between his claws and casting forth the energy alongside a barrage of missiles all along MetalGarurumon's body, the Digimon of Courage and of Friendship gave mighty cries to their attacks, damaging ShadowBlademon greatly.
"Static Force!" Silphymon bellowed with a further power within his tone.
Bringing his hands together and summoning a sphere of energy, one which shone with a pure force of light, the combined force of Gatomon and Aquilamon threw the light upon ShadowBlademon, who groaned in further pain, to feeling the purity of Silphymon's attack tearing through and destroying his dark body.
"I'm sorry my Lord... I have failed you!" ShadowBlademon cried as his body broke apart into corrupt data particles, which slowly faded from existence.
With ShadowBlademon no more and their battle now over, but drained physically and mentally, using her unique power had taken its toll on Kari, who felt her body become sluggish and her mind turn foggy.
Unable to support herself, Kari slumped down and looked about to collapse to the ground, but coming to her aid and supporting his beloved, Davis slid his arms around the Digidestined of Light, catching her before she could collapse and slowly guided her down and into his lap.
Worried for his girlfriend, who rested in his arms, Davis expressed his concerns.
"Kari, are you okay?" He asked, but found his concerns only growing when Kari didn't respond and instead found the Digidestined of Light now passed out and unconscious in his arms.
"Let me help you carry Kari back." Davis then heard Silphymon offer, the combined force of Gatomon and Aquilamon looking over the passed out brunette, thorizing. "I guess using all of that power left her drained."
Although appreciative of the offer, Davis shook his head.
"It's ok. I can carry her." The maroon haired Digidestined said in reply as he returned to his feet, slid Kari's unconscious figure up and gently guided her into his embrace, carrying the Digidestined of Light in a bridal style hold.
With Davis looking after Kari, Silphymon assisted in aiding Ken to his feet, guiding the Digidestined of Kindness back to Gennai's, while WarGreymon rested an arm around Tai, the Digidestined and Digimon of Courage supporting one another after their ordeal.
As MetalGarurumon, Veemon and the Digidestined headed back, to receive proper treatment for the injuries sustained during their conflict, Davis' hold remained tight around Kari.
Looking upon the love of his life, there was part to the Digidestined of Miracles which seemed to hold Kari tighter, to refuse to let her go.
