ALVINNN! and The Chipmunks:

Tamian Mysteries

Season 1, Episode 9 of 10:

Reunion

As the afternoon turned to evening in Santa Barbara, California, Dave was driving out of town, unaware that his three adopted sons were stowing away in the trunk.

"How long do you think Dave is going to be driving for?", asked Theodore.

"Shhh- Keep your voice down. I think it's gonna be a long ride.", Alvin said softly "Simon, what are our escape options before Dave opens the trunk?", he asked.

"Not to worry. I packed a few things just in case. But for now, I'm sending Jeanette instructions.", Simon reassured his brothers, as he was texting on his cPhone. He then sent his text and his phone made a chime.

"Can you at least track our current position?", Alvin continued asking.

Simon opened the map application on his cPhone and showed his brothers.

"We're past the city limits already. It looks like we're about to take the backroads through the woods.", Simon speculated.

"Maybe that's why he brought the camping bag.", Theodore suggested.

"But no sleeping sack or tent?", Alvin questioned.

"Maybe he plans to sleep in his car.", Theodore guessed.

"Wow. I must've really made him angry if he wants to just get away from it all for the night.", Alvin said.

"Unless he's not planning to stay the whole night and is only going to return home very late.", Simon added.

"And what do you mean he was angry at you?", Theodore asked Alvin. "We all caused this. We're just lucky he doesn't know The Chipettes are in on the mystery too.", he pointed out.

"Theodore, you heard him yell my name.", Alvin reminded Theodore. He then let out a sigh. "And this was all my idea to begin with.", he said in low spirit, admitting responsibility.

"Our signal could get spotty the farther out we go. I have to make a call while we still have a chance.", Simon said.

Simon immediately called Jeanette. After only one ring, she picked up.

"Simon. I got your instructions. Don't worry, I'll be sure to feed Theodore's goldfish.", Jeanette said.

"Thanks Jeanette. But listen, we don't have much time before we go out too far and lose the signal, so I have to make this fast.", Simon told his best friend.

"Okay. But can I ask what the code you sent me is for?", Jeanette asked.

"The lab in my closet. I didn't want Alvin to hear it.", Simon answered.

"Hey, you can trust me not to remember it at a time like this.", Alvin said in offense.

"Sure you wouldn't.", Theodore said sarcastically.

Simon pulled out a small MP3 player that was heavily modified on the exterior to include a collapsible antenna. "I had a feeling Dave would go beyond town, so I have a device that will transmit a stronger GPS signal to the computer in the lab. If we need assistance, we'll send you our location and you can take the Munkmobile.", Simon detailed.

"You really trust me to use the Munkmobile?", Jeanette asked with apprehension. "I've never flown it before.", she said.

"Come on, Brittany flew that thing.", Alvin said. "How hard can it be?", he asked with confidence.

"Not hard at all. Because I pre-set an autopilot for whatever location I mark.", Simon corrected Alvin. "All you have to do is land it. Just be sure to engage the gyro-lock, and slowly bring down the lever that adjusts the turbine power.", Simon instructed Jeanette.

"Alright.", Jeanette acknowledged. "Anything else I should know?", she asked.

"Well… we'll explain the full story when we can later, but for now we have bad news. We found another chipmunk, he said he was our uncle, but he stole the Tamian book.", Simon said.

Jeanette gasped. "What?!".

"And Dave found out. That's why he was in such a hurry to leave. Wherever we're going may have something to do with his side of the mystery.", Simon added.

"You found another chipmunk and you didn't tell us?! Why?!", Brittany asked, joining in on the call.

"Nice of you to barge in, Britt. Sorry we didn't tell you as soon as it happened, but he tricked us into thinking he was our uncle. So we thought it would be better to just spend some family time with him before breaking the news to you.", Alvin replied.

"Did this trick have anything to do with Digbee?", Brittany asked.

"He- uh… yes.", Alvin confessed.

"I knew it!", Brittany said. "What was this chipmunk's name?", she asked Alvin.

"Harry.", Alvin answered. "And no, you didn't know it. Digbee only introduced us to Harry, he may have been tricked too.", Alvin argued.

"Don't bet on i-", Brittany said before the phone signal got cut off.

"Great.", Alvin said with aggravation. "When this mission is over, I'm never going to hear the end of it from her.", he vented.

Later, Dave's car pulled into a small parking area along a road at the edge of Eagle's Peak State Park. Once he parked the car, he got his outdoors bag from the trunk, closed it back up, locked the car, and walked away into the forest, using a flashlight to find his way. A moment later, Simon opened the lock to the trunk from the inside so that he and his brothers could get out.

"Phew.", Theodore said in relief. "It's a good thing you brought your invisible cloak. I thought for sure Dave would've seen us.", he said.

"But where did he go? You don't have a tracker on him, do you, Simon?", Alvin asked.

"No, but if he's going through the forest, he couldn't have gone far yet.", Simon said.

"Uh, guys?", Theodore tried to get the attention of his brothers.

"What is it?", Alvin turned to Theodore and asked.

"This is Eagle's Peak State Park.", Theodore said, pointing to the mountain in the distance.

Alvin looked at the mountain and paused for a moment. "What would he be doing here?", Alvin wondered aloud.

"You think it has anything to do with the cave art?", Simon asked his brothers for their opinion.

"Who knows? Besides him.", Alvin responded. "Come on.", Alvin said, leading his brothers towards the forest.

The Chipmunks stopped at the treeline and saw a faint light that looked like a white dot. It slowly got smaller and dimmer as it got farther away.

"Quick, before he gets too far away.", Alvin said, keeping his voice down so as not to alert Dave.

"Didn't you bring a flashlight, Simon?", Theodore asked quietly.

"I did, but I don't want to risk him seeing us.", Simon answered in a similar tone.

"Besides, we're chipmunks. We should be able to navigate low-light forests like natural.", Alvin added.

The Chipmunks descended down a small slope into the dark conifer forest, doing their best to avoid stepping on twigs, bumping into rocks, or stepping off a sudden short drop. All while they tried to be quick enough to keep up with the light from Dave.

Eventually, they got close enough to see him crouch down and maneuver his way through some dense shrubbery. The Chipmunks followed suit, only after they thought Dave was far enough ahead and wouldn't hear the shrubs rustling from their movement through them.

On the other side, The Chipmunks came to a small ledge that was a mere six feet above the ground, and overlooked a tiny village. The village was illuminated with lanterns, and most of the houses were built inside the bases of trees. Walking about, were other chipmunks, dressed in similar 1800's style clothing similar to Harry. Still keeping their voices down, the three brothers gasped in mesmerization that they had found even more of their own kind.

"Woah…", Theodore said.

"I can't believe it.", Simon stated in awe.

"I… I don't know… what to think of this.", Alvin told his brothers.

"Let's go down and meet them.", Theodore said in excitement as he crouched down and put his leg out over the edge. But Simon stopped him before he could get any further.

"No, wait. They might become scared by our presence. We're wearing much different clothes than them.", Simon said.

"So is Dave. And if he's here, these chipmunks have to be the entire reason.", Alvin said.

Alvin climbed down from the rock ledge into the village and his brothers did the same, much to Simon's reluctance. They hid in a shadowy spot next to one of the houses as Alvin waited and planned out their next move for finding Dave.

"Simon. Where's the invisible cloak?", Alvin asked.

Simon pulled out the cloak from his bag. "Here.", he said as he handed it to Alvin.

"Let's spread this out.", Alvin said.

The boys held up the cloak by the top corners to create a barrier that no one can see them through. They walked through the village, staying to the sides of the houses as chipmunk villagers passed them by. As they started to pass a house made from the base of a large oak tree, they could faintly hear Dave's voice.

They went over to a circular window and saw Dave with his back facing towards it. Dave was crouched down in the house built at chipmunk scale, and had to crawl through the tiny door just to get in. He was talking to someone, but The Chipmunks couldn't see who.

"I'm really sorry. I know how important that book was to you.", Dave apologized.

"You did what you could. There was no guarantee it would ever truly be safe, here or with you.", a female chipmunk voice said.

"There must be some way I can help.", Dave offered.

"I wish there were. But the rest of us will try as hard as we can to keep the Tamian relics hidden and regain the support of our people on Chipmunk Island. No matter what, you and I still have our first priority of keeping the boys safe.", the female chipmunk stated.

"That keeps getting harder every year. They're so tenacious. Especially Alvin. That's why I can never trust him to be left in charge. He's in way over his head with that kind of responsibility.", Dave said.

"What?", Alvin whispered, being triggered by what Dave believes about him. "I oughta tell him otherwise.", he said in frustration as he stormed away from the window and towards the front door.

"Alvin!", Theodore whispered, trying to convince his brother to maintain their cover. Alvin opened the door and Simon and Theodore went after him.

"The jig is up, David! And I'm great at being in charge because now we know-"

Alvin stopped himself as he and his brothers saw who Dave was talking to. An adult female chipmunk, named Vinny. She had brown hair tied in a bun, a pair of oval glasses with gold-colored frames, and a faded light blue dress with a dark red patch stitched on the elbow of the right sleeve.

"Boys?", Vinny said, not believing her eyes.

"…Mom?", Theodore realized.

Vinny broke out in tears of joy as she rushed over to hug her three children. As they all gathered in a group hug, the boys felt a sensation in their souls as if something was filling a void they never knew they had.

Dave watched on, and couldn't help but feel emotional as well, despite feeling angry about the boys' disobedience just a short moment prior.

A little while later, they were all gathered near the fireplace, and the boys were having some acorn soup for dinner.

"This soup is great, mom. I'll have to share some of my soup recipes with you some time.", Theodore said.

"I'm glad you enjoy it, Theodore.", Vinny replied.

"It's alright, I guess. It must be an acquired taste.", Simon commented.

"So you knew our mother was out here the whole time? And you didn't want us to know?", Alvin asked Dave in a straight tone.

"Boys, I was going to bring you out here once your mother and I thought you were mature enough to know what we had to keep you apart from.", Dave answered.

"We're most of the way through high school. How are we not mature enough?", Alvin complained.

"It's not as simple as you think, Alvin. I wanted us to meet under better circumstances, but neither of us were ready.", Vinny told her middle son.

"I don't mind meeting under these circumstances. I feel like we're making the most out of our reunion tonight.", Theodore happily chimed in.

"What were we not ready for?", Alvin asked his adoptive father and biological mother.

Vinny sighed. "Where do I begin?", she asked herself aloud. "What I have been working with the rest of this village towards concerns our homeland, and the future of all our kind. Raising you out here could have put you in danger of those who want to bring about chipmunk dominion over the entire world.", Vinny started explaining.

"So you protect the world from evil chipmunks?", Theodore assumed. "You're like a hero, mom.", he added.

"Not quite, Theodore. That book that Harry stole was important to finding a lost civilization. It's a whole bunch of details that were supposed to be kept secret.", Dave said.

"It's okay, Dave. We know about the Tamians.", Simon revealed to him.

"What else did you learn?", Vinny asked with concern.

"A ton. We know about their lost civilization, Thomas Filder, and a chipmunk cave painting that we found on the other side of these woods about a week ago.", Alvin answered.

"There was a ciphered page loose from the book that led us to the cave. We used the book to decipher it and find the cave's location.", Simon detailed.

"This is not good. If Harry finds that cave too, he may even find this village close by.", Vinny said with worry.

"Not to worry, mom. I left that page out of the book when we gave it to Harry.", Simon said.

"Are you sure?", Vinny asked.

"Yes. It's back at home in my laboratory.", Simon affirmed.

"Good. But there are many other pages like it that Harry could decipher now that he has the Tamian language. Each of them leads to a relic or site of significance. If he finds one that unlocks the lost civilization of the Tamians, he could become ambitious enough to bring David's kind to its knees.", Vinny said with a dire undertone.

"So that's what you meant by 'chipmunk dominion'.", Simon realized.

"Was Harry really our uncle?", Alvin asked.

"No.", Vinny said definitively.

"But he showed us a family tree.", Alvin said.

"It could have been a forged document. It wouldn't be that hard for him.", Simon pointed out to Alvin.

"But what about our father? Is he really named William?", Theodore asked.

"Yes. That much is true.", Vinny answered somberly.

"Where is he?", Theodore continued asking.

"He passed away shortly after you were born.", Vinny stated.

"What was he like?", Alvin asked.

"He was… a very strong willed gentleman. Always looked out for us, was compassionate… And there's a little bit of him in you. He would be very proud of who you three have become.", Vinny answered, trying to hold back her emotions.

"Why would Harry want to take over the world?", Theodore asked.

Vinny looked toward Dave. "Do you think they'll be too sensitive to handle the whole story?", she asked him.

"Theodore may be the most sensitive, but I can help him cope with it if he needs.", Dave responded.

"Alright. It's time you boys know." Vinny said.

"Before humans had built the civilization you live in today, our own race was the most advanced in the world. At the center of it all were the Tamians, who legend suggests may have had technological creations capable of things beyond comprehension. Nobody knows what happened to them, but their civilization collapsed over twenty thousand years ago.

Our ancestors regressed, and lived in the shadows of humans, as we still are today. But about two centuries ago Thomas Filder discovered our home island, and made the first contact with our species. We started to adopt the human ways of living from Filder, all while he continued to travel the world, discovering other colonies of chipmunks and recording our history. It's thanks to him how we know about the Tamians. After an unsuccessful period where he tried to fully integrate chipmunk-kind into human society, we had to part ways.

Ever since, all chipmunks have been in hiding, with little to no interaction with humans out of the fear that they could one day wipe us out. And that fear became more realized less than a decade ago.

Your father and I were part of a secret order that Filder had started, meant to study and preserve the history of our species. Harry was part of it too. As far as most were concerned, the Tamians were just a myth. Until one of the other colonies was destroyed by human construction. Harry was visiting the island at the time and rescued a boy named Orwell, who had lost his parents in the incident.

It was Orwell's loss that motivated Harry and the few other survivors to realize that humans had become a scourge to our kind, and that we must achieve separation of influence from them at any cost. Harry's goal became to find a home for all chipmunks that would be safe from human intervention before the same thing happens to any of the other colonies next.

After they took refuge on Chipmunk Island, Harry broke the secret to everyone, and sought to gather support to find the lost Tamian civilization and make it our new home. It was essentially a revolution. And when he wanted to take our documents of Tamian history and relics to find it, the rest of us in the order had no choice but to take them and flee.

We left Chipmunk Island in small boats with nothing else but a few other members from each of our families, and some supplies that we used to set up this village. You three were hardly more than babies when we left, but I remember the look in your eyes as we had to abandon our home.".

"Oh my. Now I'm glad that I didn't know sooner.", Theodore commented.

"So Harry wants to pillage a lost civilization, just so that chipmunks can live away from humans?", Simon asked.

"Yes. But I fear he may end up wanting to use the power of the Tamians to wipe out humans as retribution.", Vinny responded.

"But humans and chipmunks can be friendly to each other. Just look how we turned out.", Theodore cheerfully said.

"I share your belief, Theodore. If only Harry and his compatriots could see it that way so easily.", Vinny said.

"Then again, Derek would never see it that way either. But we also have reason to believe that Harry may have had help from a human to get the Tamian language book.", Alvin told his mother. "Why would he do that?", he asked.

"Harry must have been serious when he said 'at any cost'.", Simon presumed.

"What happened next mom? What happened to us after we left Chipmunk Island? How did you meet Dave?", Theodore went on asking.

"Our boat got separated from the main group during the voyage to the mainland. So I had to carry you three on foot to where we were all supposed to meet.", Vinny detailed.

"David, I think you can explain the rest.", she said.

"Yes. One night, I was on my way back from Fresno.", Dave started telling.

Flashback begins

The year was 2007. Vinny made her way up a steep hill and started crossing an empty road. She was very exhausted, carrying her three children in a relatively large basket.

Just as she was making it to the other side, she collapsed, landing right on the edge of the road with her lower half still on the pavement and her upper half on the dusty soil. She dropped the basket, causing Alvin, Simon, and Theodore to tumble out of it, but thankfully were not hurt. They got up, and Alvin went over to their unconscious mother. They shoved her body back and forth, begging her to wake up, but to no avail.

"Mommy, wake up!", Alvin exclaimed, as his brothers also rushed in to help.

The three very young chipmunk brothers turned Vinny over and tried to pull her completely off of the road.

Suddenly, a blue Chrysler Town & Country drove around a curve farther down the road, and the Chipmunks became scared. They gently put Vinny down and hid behind a nearby rock as the headlights started to point in their direction.

The vehicle passed them, but then slowed down, pulled over to the shoulder, and stopped a stone's throw ahead of where Vinny layed. A man got out and walked over to the unconscious female chipmunk. He was perplexed. From a distance, he assumed it was roadkill, but it didn't look like any animal he had seen before, and was wearing clothes. Next he assumed it was a child's doll, but was shocked to see that the body was slightly rising and falling as it breathed.

The man picked up Vinny and carried her to his car. He opened up the trunk and pulled out a blanket. In the passenger seat, he coiled the blanket and set Vinny down in the center.

Meanwhile, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore climbed their way into the open trunk, which the man closed soon after without checking the inside of it. He started up the car and continued on his way home.

When the man arrived at his house a while later, he took Vinny inside with the blanket, set her on the couch and illuminated the living room with a candle. Vinny slowly came to, revealing her light blue eyes.

"Wh… where…", Vinny said in a very weary voice. Suddenly, she noticed the man who brought her in and became more alert. "You. You're a human."

"Why yes, I am.", the man responded. "Are you alright, miss?", he asked.

"I think I'll be fine.", Vinny answered. "Where am I?", she asked.

"You're in my home, in Santa Barbara. My name is David Seville. But you can call me Dave if you want. I found you on the side of the road.", the man elaborated.

"David, thank you. My name is Vinny. I must get to the mountain with the eagle head.", Vinny said.

"Eagle's Peak?", Dave asked. "That's pretty far from where I found you. No wonder you collapsed. There's no way you would have made it on foot in one night.", he added.

"I must try. My children and I-", Vinny then gasped, noticing that her children were missing. "Where are my children?", she asked with anxiety.

Back outside in the driveway, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore managed to open the trunk from the inside. The three little chipmunks hopped out and observed their unfamiliar surroundings.

"Where are we? Is mommy here?", Theodore asked.

"That tall monster that took mommy has to be somewhere.", Alvin said, determined to find their mother.

"Look.", Simon said, pointing at the Seville house. "I think that's a house.", he added.

"How many chipmunks do you think could live in there?", Theodore asked.

"I think the monster lives in this house.", Alvin responded.

"There's a door.", Simon said, pointing at the front door.

The Chipmunks then walk over to the front door and looked up at it, wondering what was behind it.

"Hmm… How do we get inside?", Alvin asked.

"But Alvin, the tall monster could get us too.", Theodore said with worry.

"But we must find mommy. And I'm not afraid.", Alvin boldly said. He pounded on the door as hard as his tiny fists could. "Let us in you! You have our mommy and we're not going to leave until you give her back!", Alvin ranted.

Inside the house Vinny turned toward the door in surprise.

"That's them!", Vinny said in relief and surprise.

"What?", Dave said, again perplexed.

Dave went over to the door and opened it. Right as he looked down to see the little chipmunks, they zipped past his feet and ran to the living room cheering "Mommy". They climbed onto the couch and hugged her, all happy to be reunited.

"Alvin, Simon, Theodore. How did you find me?", Vinny asked.

"We hid in the tall monster's fast rolling machine.", Simon answered.

"Oh, my car.", Dave said.

"Well he's not a monster to us, boys. This is David Seville. He's here to help us.", Vinny told her children.

"It's very late right now. You all can stay for the night while you fully recover, Vinny.", Dave offered.

"Oh thank you, David.", Vinny replied.

Soon after, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore were asleep in one of the living room chairs, tucked in with the blanket from earlier and resting their heads on one of the throw pillows. All while Dave and Vinny watched over them from the couch as she told him their story.

"I wish this revolution would be over and done with so easily, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to let the boys grow up in the happy place I wanted them to. I don't want their lives to be caught up in all this.", Vinny said with sorrow.

"I would want that for them too. It just doesn't seem right for them to be raised knowing everything about your kind could be upheaved in an instant.", Dave replied.

"They need someone who can give them that happy life. I cannot. But David…", Vinny put her hand on top of Dave's hand. "…I think you can give them that life. Could you please look after my boys?", she asked.

"Yes... I will.", Dave promised.

"Until the day I can ensure that we can all go home.", Vinny added.

"I was never sure I would want to become a father. But I will raise them as if they were my own.", Dave said.

"And that should be all they need to be happy.", Vinny said.

The next morning, Dave, Vinny, and the three chipmunk boys had breakfast. Dave tried to feed the boys berries and chopped nuts, but they were more interested in his oatmeal instead. Theodore got a hold of the bowl, and when he tried to tilt it and eat some oatmeal, he spilled it on his shirt. The five of them all shared a laugh over the moment.

Flashback ends

"After that, we all went to Eagle's Peak. She showed me the village as it was being set up. You three fell asleep during the trek down to it, but when it was time to go…", Dave paused. "Vinny, you wanna tell them?", he asked.

"Yes. I gave you each a kiss goodbye. I knew you would have missed me at first, but not as much as I would continue to miss you. David and I both knew you would adjust to your new life quite well in my absence. Finally, I entrusted Dave with the Tamian language book. In the event this village was ever found, I had to make sure Harry wouldn't find it here.

Having to leave you three was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. I hope you now understand what I had to do.", Vinny concluded the story as she started to tear up.

"And that was it. I've been coming back here once every year to tell your mother how you boys have been doing.", Dave explained.

"So when you told us that we sat at your doorstep and refused to leave, that's why?", Alvin asked.

"Yes, Alvin.", Dave confirmed.

"I can't believe it. The majority of our lives was based on this arrangement.", Alvin said in a somber tone.

"I know this is a lot to take in, Alvin. But we made this arrangement so that you all could grow up like normal kids.", Dave said, putting his hand on Alvin's back in consolation.

"Thanks for telling us the whole story.", Theodore told his mother and adoptive father. "I don't know how much Dave has told you about us, but I think we still have a whole lot to catch up on. Like our singing careers, The Chipettes-", Theodore said to his mother before being cut off by Simon.

"Theodore, it's pretty late. Maybe we should go home and let this all sink in.", Simon said.

"Can't we stay here, just for the night?", Theodore asked.

"I'm not sure fellas. I mean, where would you even sleep?", Dave asked.

"I have a spare bed they can use for the night.", Vinny replied.

"Please, Dave.", Theodore begged.

"Oh, alright. But we leave first thing in the afternoon tomorrow.", Dave said.

"Yay!", Theodore cheered.

The next morning, Dave returned to the hidden village after sleeping in his car for the night. Vinny and her boys had just finished breakfast, and were waiting outside the tree.

"Good morning, David.", Vinny greeted him.

"Morning, Dave.", The Chipmunks told him.

"Morning, everyone.", Dave replied. "Did you all sleep well?, he asked.

"It felt unusual, but we got enough sleep.", Simon answered.

"So what're we gonna learn today, mom?", Theodore asked.

"Boys, I want to teach you all about how I've been keeping our chipmunk ways even when we're away from our homeland. Come, I will show you how we pick the freshest berries.", Vinny answered as he handed each of the boys a woven basket.

"Yum.", Theodore said happily.

"I've had a little bit of experience in that. So I'm interested.", Simon commented.

"Great. This way.", Vinny said.

As Vinny guided the group into the forest, Theodore noticed that Alvin was in the back and was not quite the talkative self that he usually was. He slowed down to let his older brother catch up to him while the others kept walking.

"Alvin, you look upset. What's the matter?", Theodore asked.

"It's just, I could hardly sleep last night knowing that there was something missing in our lives. And now that we have it, I just can't accept the reason why it took this long.", Alvin confessed.

"You mean, why Dave didn't think we were mature enough to know mom was out here?", Theodore assumed.

"More than that. About why mom had to live out here in the first place.", Alvin added.

"She told us the reason, Alvin. Chipmunk Island is in trouble, and she's trying to do something about it.", Theodore reminded Alvin.

"It's been taking her over eight years so far. She should have just cut her losses and lived with us.", Alvin said.

Later, the whole group was in a berry patch of an open field, picking out the ripest berries they could find. Simon was quickly amassing berries in a small basket, as Vinny watched on impressed.

Alvin, Theodore, and Dave were a short distance away at another bush. Theodore had a smile on his face as he could hardly wait to put the berries to use later for the village.

"These berries look so good. I'm sure the village will love them.", Theodore said.

"I'm sure they will. I'm glad you boys are getting this kind of experience.", Dave replied.

"Yeah well, we should have gotten it a long time ago.", Alvin said in a moody tone.

Vinny and Simon stopped picking berries and looked toward Alvin.

"Is something wrong, Alvin?", Vinny asked, walking over to her unhappy son.

"What do you care?", Alvin asked in discontent.

"I care very much.", Vinny said caringly.

"Oh really? Then are your own children worth any less than all the years spent trying and failing to get Chipmunk Island back?", Alvin continued to ask with a harsh attitude.

"I haven't failed us, Alvin. None of us would ever have been sure how long this would take.", Vinny answered.

"Then you should have just lived with us.", Alvin stated.

"Alvin, I would have been more than happy to let her, but she had to try and do something about Harry. Or else many other chipmunk children like you would have their lives changed.", Dave tried to convince him.

"It's just not right. Mom deserved better than the choice she made. And so did we.", Alvin talked back to Dave.

"She made the choice she did because she knew you deserved better than being caught up in the conflict she's trying to help so many others overcome.", Dave said.

"No, no, there had to be another way.", Alvin said, distraught.

Alvin ran off into the woods.

"Wait. Alvin.", Simon tried to tell his brother.

"Come back!", Theodore yelled.

To be continued…
