Every passing minute made the two girls anxious. They waited and waited, hoping Luke, or Molly, any of their group members would come walking through the door.

Even Sam was pacing at this point.

Suddenly, Clementine stood, drawing Sarah's attention. "We need to find the others."

"But…But we should wait for them to come back." Sarah said.

"We can't wait. You said you trust me, right?" Clementine replied.

Sarah gave a small nod.

"Then trust me on this." Clementine said.

Sarah furrowed her brows. "But what if the bad guy is still outside?"

"He's not, but I'm sure he'll be coming back. Which is why we can't stay here." Clementine said.

"It's safe here. We can lock the door and-"

"And when they come back, they'll just break it down… Look, it's not safe for us to be here. Not alone." Clementine said. Sarah was just too innocent for her own good.

"You still have his gun." Sarah pointed out.

That was true, but Clementine was sure George wasn't alone. Her, a small child, against several adults with guns- she wouldn't stand a chance. Clementine checked the gun for bullets, deciding she would only use it if she had to. "Come on."

Sarah slowly followed the younger girl as she headed towards the kitchen. Just before they could head outside Sam started barking. The two girls flinched. Clementine wasting no time to aim the gun at the door as she heard the knob move. She tried to quiet Sam, but to no avail.

A moment passed before the back door opened, and slowly Clementine lowered her weapon as Molly and Nick stepped inside carrying a clearly injured Pete.

"Oh my gosh, what happened?!" Sarah asked.

Nick noticed the gun in Clementine's little hand and raised a brow. "Where the fuck did you get that?"

"Now's not the time, Nick." Molly said.

"Is he… alive?" Clementine asked, looking a bit nervous.

"What kind of question is that? Of course he is!" Nick snapped.

"He got bit. Where's Carlos?" Molly asked.

"Looking for you guys." Clementine said.

"His… His leg is gone…" Sarah gasped. "That's so scary."

Molly and Nick brought the man to the living room, placing him on the couch. "Nick, bring me some disinfectant, something to stitch this with and bandages!"

Clementine looked concerned. "What can I do?"

"For now, just let me handle things. I'll let you know if I need you." Molly said.

"Okay." Clementine said.

"My dad didn't find you?" Sarah asked the woman.

"If he did don't you think he'd be with us?" Molly scoffed.

"I was worried when you came in, that you might have been the man from before." Sarah said.

Molly raised a brow, looking at the two children, "What man?"

"Someone came here…" Sarah said.

"What?" Molly asked.

"Clementine talked to him…" Sarah said.

"He said his name was George." Clementine added.

"What did he want?" Molly questioned.

"He was looking for Luke and the others." Clementine explained.

"Damn it…" Molly immediately knew it must've been that Carver guy.

"Clem… shot him." Sarah said.

Molly's eyes widened. "You what?"

"I had no choice. I was protecting us!" Clementine defended her actions.

"Okay… Okay, just calm down both of you." Molly said with a sigh. "Look, if he comes back, we'll-"

Nick rushed down with the medical supplies before she could get another word in. "We don't have much left."

"This'll have to do." Molly said.

"What do we do now?!" Nick asked.

"I'm gonna clean and stitch the wound." Molly said.

Nick nodded. "Just… Just hurry up and help him!"

"I'm gonna do my best. I need you to either calm down or get out." Molly said.

"I'm not leaving him." Nick argued.

"Then calm down." Molly said.

"How am I supposed to calm down? You cut my damn uncle's leg off!" Nick spat.

"I did it to save his life! We all know what a bite does!" Molly snapped. "Just… shut up so I can concentrate."

Clementine frowned as she watched Molly start to tend to Pete. The girl recalled the day Lee, Kenny, and Mark had rushed an injured man to the motor inn. The man was missing a leg. Katjaa tried to help him, but… he didn't make it. He died… He turned, and he nearly killed Katjaa…

Clementine felt anxious as she fidgeted with the gun in her little hands. If he turned… she would do what she had to, in order to keep Molly safe.

Clementine, Sarah, and Nick had retreated to the kitchen to give Molly space to work on Pete.

Sarah was shaking slightly from the sight of the man's missing leg, while Nick nervously paced back and forth.

"Don't worry… Molly will do her best." Clementine spoke to Nick, hoping to calm his nerves a bit.

"Does she even know what the fuck she's doing? She doesn't have any medical training, does she?" Nick questioned.

"She's not a doctor, but she'll do what she can to help him." Clementine knew that much was true, even though she didn't have much confidence that a bite victim had any chance of survival.

"And if it's not enough, I'll blame her for killing my uncle!" Nick snapped.

"She didn't kill him! She said he got bit! She's trying to save him now! Stop being grumpy!" Clementine retorted.

"Grumpy?! She cut my uncle's fucking leg off! I have every right to-"

Sarah covered her ears to block out the arguing. "St-Stop fighting! Please! I just… I want dad to come home…"

"He'll… be back soon, Sarah." Clementine said.

"You don't know that." Nick said.

Clementine shot him a glare. "They went looking for you guys. They have to come back eventually."

"I guess we'll see about that." Nick grumbled.

"What's your problem? Why are you acting like this?" Clementine inquired.

"Acting like what?" Nick asked.

"Like a spoiled brat!" Clementine said.

"The only brat here is you, kid-"

Suddenly the door opened, and Clementine whipped around, only to sigh in relief as she noticed Luke.

"Clementine?" Luke raised a brow, surprised to see them in the kitchen. He stepped into the cabin with Carlos, Alvin, and Rebecca behind him.

"Dad!" Sarah jumped up from her seat and rushed over to Carlos.

"Sarah. Thank God." Carlos returned the hug.

"Nick, when'd you get back?" Alvin asked.

"A bit ago…" Nick answered.

Luke noticed the distraught look on his friend's face and asked, "Are… you okay?"

"Uncle… Uncle Pete got bit." Nick muttered.

Eyes grew widen from the news and a chorus of "What?" and "How?" echoed around the room.

"It just… happened… Molly cut off his leg." Nick said.

"She what?!" Carlos gasped. "Where is he?"

"On the couch." Clementine spoke this time.

Without wasting a minute Carlos rushed into the living room.

Luke frowned, things were getting worse and worse. "F-Fuck…"

"How is he?" Carlos asked as he walked over to Molly.

"He's got quite the fever... I did what I could, stopped the bleeding, cleaned and sutured his... stump... Bandaged it... Only time will tell if he wakes up." Molly said.

Carlos placed a hand on Pete's forehead. "We shouldn't get our hopes up too high... First twenty-four hours are crucial... and for all we know he might not make it through the night..."

Molly let out a sigh but nodded.

Carlos checked Pete's bandaged stump with a frown. "We should talk to the others…"

"Yeah, we should." Molly agreed.

Carlos and Molly headed back into the kitchen, Carlos informing the others that it was time for a "group meeting".

"How's Uncle Pete? Is he okay?" Nick asked.

"We don't know yet…" Molly said.

"How the fuck do you not know?!" Nick demanded.

"He's unconscious. He's loss a lot of blood. We'll have to wait until he wakes up…" Molly explained.

"If he wakes up…" Carlos muttered."

Nick shot him a glare. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"He's not in great shape, Nick. He might not make it through the night." Carlos said.

"He'll make it." Nick huffed. "I know he will."

"We have another problem..." Molly said.

"What?" Luke asked.

Molly paused, "…That Carver guy, you guys are running from."

Rebecca's eyes widened in fear. "H-How do you know about-"

"That's not the point." Molly said. "The girls said, someone came to the cabin, I don't know if it was him but if it was, he'll most likely come back."

"Wha-What?" Rebecca stammered.

The adults turned to Sarah for confirmation. "A man was here, but- but Clementine scared him away..."

"What?" Carlos questioned.

"What?!" Rebecca stammered.

"Clementine talked to him. Then scared him off with his gun." Sarah asked.

Rebecca shot Clementine a look, "So you just opened the door for him?"

"Calm down, Rebecca."

"Calm down?! I am calm! You calm down!"

"I didn't open the door. He just came in." Clementine said. "I tried to lock it."

"Well you didn't try hard enough." Rebecca said.

Sam started growling a bit, stepping protectively in front of the girl, clearly alarmed by all the yelling.

Clementine gave him a light pet, "It's okay, boy. It's okay…"

"You threatened him with a gun?" Alvin asked.

"I had no choice. I had to keep Sarah and myself safe." Clementine said. "And I didn't threaten him… I shot him."

The adults were stunned by her calm statement.

"Did… Did he say his name? Did he say what his name was?" Carlos questioned nervously.

"Maybe it wasn't him." Rebecca muttered.

"You know damn well who it was." Alvin said.

"He said his name was George." Clementine answered Carlos' question.

"Look, Clem, just... tell us what he looked like. What was he wearing? Did he sound... different?"

"His voice was...gravelly..." Clementine said.

"Like how?" Carlos asked.

"I don't know. Kind of deep and scratchy." Clementine replied.

"He talked about you, dad. You're not going to hurt anyone, are you?" Sarah asked.

"Of course he won't, Sarah, alright? Your dad's the nicest man I know, which is why he's not gonna do anything crazy or... not nice. Right?" Luke said.

Carlos looked to Sarah and spoke in a quiet voice, "You know these are bad people, sweetie. They will do or say anything to hurt us."

Sarah frowned, she didn't want anyone getting hurt.

"He was scouting. We got lucky; he wasn't expecting to find us. Clementine must've surprised him. If she hadn't been there..." Carlos paused. "Well, he was too smart to stick around, but he'll be back with the rest. We don't have much time."

"He's right. Everyone pack up." Luke said.

With the dismissal Alvin marched towards the door and walked out of the kitchen without a word.

Rebecca quickly followed calling, "Alvin, wait!"

"What about my uncle? He's in no condition to move..." Nick said.

"We don't have a choice... We can't stay here any longer than necessary." Carlos said. He looked to Sarah. "We have to leave now, sweetie, before he comes back with more bad guys. But it's gonna be okay. Let's just go get your things."

"What... does he want?" Clementine asked.

"To… take us back." Carlos answered.

"Why did you leave his camp?" Clementine wondered.

"Because we had to." Carlos said. "Clem, I don't know what he told you, but William Carver is a dangerous man. He's the leader of a camp not far from here, and he's very smart. We were... lucky to escape." Carlos looked to Molly, "Look, I'm sorry to involve you, but now that he's seen your girl… you'll both be safer with us." Carlos said. "We have to leave."

Carlos left the room with Sarah in tow.

"So… What's your plan? You gonna stick around…" Luke asked Molly.

"Maybe for a bit… Make sure you folks don't end up getting yourselves killed." Molly said.

"Well… We appreciate your concern… And your company." Luke said.

"Don't get too used to it." Molly said.

"Well, like Carlos said, it'll probably be safer, sticking together." Luke said.

"Don't worry about us. We can handle ourselves." Molly said. "But a few days won't hurt."

Clementine glanced to the kitchen door. She couldn't help but worry about Pete. He need time to recover and having to be out on the road would lessen his chance at survival… She had strong doubts that the man would actually make it. Besides… cutting off a bite never worked….
