Chapter 4
For some time, Kion and Bunga has been playing like best friends. No one in Pride Rock expected the sudden best friends from the two different species who have completely different motivates and destiny in life. The King and Queen were happy that their son and first in line should something happens to his big sister were meeting and befriending other animals outside of lions and species such as that.
The only one who was not happy about this new friendship... is Princess Kiara. Okay, she is happy about Kion meeting other species and becoming friends with them but she is not happy that there appears to be a barrier between them. The distance between them is obvious for everyone to see.
Kion still shown outlines of fear around her, sleeping as far as away as he possibly can, staring at her cautiously everytime he walked passed her, and keeping their conversations at an minimum.
Right now, Kiara is watching as her brother plays with the honey badger of some sort of weird form of catch that she didn't explore. Truth be told, part of her wants to go down and join them, to have fun with them, and play like she use to. Other part of her wants to go down, grab her brother, and talk sense into him that she loves him and nothing would ever change that.
"Kiara," her mom says as she approaches behind her and sits down. "Your brother and Bunga is indeed having fun. It's good to see a cub I have to actually worry about especially since your own adventures in the Outlands."
Kiara forces herself to smirk. "They seem like the best of friends. I wish he would talk to me though."
Her mother sighs. "I won't nudge but I can tell you two had an massive argument. You both have differences and may have angered each other, but I never seen you two closed off such as this. Maybe, Kiara, whatever happened between you two are still in his mind and maybe that is why he doesn't want to play with you right now. Perhaps you should tell me."
"I..." Kiara knows there is no escape from this. Her mother has been growing suspicious and maybe wants to figure out what happened between the two. Mother knows best and she would definitely figure out.
"I don't want to talk about it but let's just say we had a massive argument," Kiara lies with a sigh, closing her eyes and mentally facepalming. She is still not brave enough to tell her parents, to face the consequences of her action. "We said some words to one another and since then we had been distanced."
Mom frowns but she appears to know when to cease an argument. "I hope you both would fix it over time. This separation between you two are not healthy, and jealousy and resentment has led to divergences in the past as shown with Mufasa and Scar."
Kiara nods. Everyone knows about the story of Mufasa and Scar though most would never learn why the latter committed such an action that led to him killing his brother. Prince Taka was denied the chance of becoming king of Pride Lands. This made him jealous but he couldn't do much as he was physically weaker than Mufasa. But his cunning more than made up for it later. He was waiting for Mufasa's Death so that he could become king. But with the birth of Simba, that was out of question. This made him even more jealous and angry at both Mufasa and his son. Since he was so bent on usurping the throne,he took to evil. He befriended the hyenas and managed to kill Mufasa and scare her father out of the pride land. He was jealous because he couldn't be king.
Like any other younger siblings, Scar is jealous of Mufasa because of the attention his older brother receive.
He thinks Mufasa has it all.
Love and full attention from their father, the throne, attention from the Pride, all lionesses around their age.
That's all without Mufasa trying hard!
And Scar, he has to seek for attention, he has to work for it unlike he's brother!
He's under his brother's shadows, he's an outcast.
And Kiara knows all too well that Kion might as as well feels similar bitter feelings. Maybe not vocal but he probably doesn't like how she has the attention of both of her parents despite not being that good in hunting. Kion would always be the pouncer between them and that's what makes her slightly jealous.
She didn't know why she had changed so much. She was annoyed at Kion due to him interrupting an important father/daughter moment and possibly at him not taking being a royal cub seriously. Also personality changes can be explained by the fact that she is an older cub now.
Deep down, Kiara didn't ever want to be Queen but she knows she have to assume her responsibility. Doesn't mean she cannot be a good sister either however.
"I just hope he's happy, even if it means I'm not involved." Now that part isn't an lie. If Kion can speak to her once or even express his anger at her, it doesn't matter. At the very least, he has an friend that he can hang out with and other friends that is to come. "I don't want to embarrass him around any other friends and cause him to feel as if I am an nuisance."
Mom chuckles. "You would always be his big sister despite how he may wish otherwise, Kiara. I think - despite what happened between you two - you both would always love each other and choose each other over all, even if it means that you have to severed friendships which I highly doubt."
Those words stuck with the lion princess even as her mom walks away.
