Chapter 20: The Trouble with Teenagers

Northport Psychiatry and Therapy, LLC., Reefside

October 7, 2013

2 pm

Kim, who was off for a week due to the Trevor Jr./Sr. debacle, was at her desk preparing for her next client when her boss, Jeff, came in.

"Kim, we have to talk," Jeff said.

"Look, Jeff, if it's about this whole "past life" thing…" Kim started to say.

"Yes, about that…"

"It was 20 years ago, and I don't see where it fits in with the current crisis my family is in."

"One of the shareholders would like to speak to you about that at 3pm, after your last client. After you speak to him, your being put on paid personal leave for the rest of this month, and a couple of weeks into November. Things are going around this city about you, your husband, and your friends. It's hurting all your reputations. I would get some help with damage control if I were you," Jeff said as he left Kim's office.

Kim sighed as her last client for the day came in.

3 pm

Kim checked herself in her handheld mirror and waited for the shareholder to come in.

Just then a guy in a suit and a tie came in.

"Dr. Kimberly Oliver, nice to finally meet you in person," the guy said.

"Nice to meet you too, Mr.…" Kim started to say.

"Mr. Lance Burton, I'm one of the shareholders of this clinic that wanted to talk to you about your "past life" situation…" Lance started to say.

"Oh, Lance Burton, yes, now I remember, we talked on the phone. Nice to meet you."

"I and the other shareholders have been hearing about and seeing some things on the internet about some events from 20 years ago that happened in Angel Grove, a few miles north of Reefside, about the truth about the "Power Rangers". Now from what I'm seeing is that the Pink Ranger back then was about your height and the White Ranger was about your husband's height, am I right?"

"Oh, that could've been anybody. I mean, a lot of people are the same height as me and my husband. That could've been anyone."

"My friend was at the third "Power Rangers" celebration at Angel Grove Park eighteen years ago, in 1995, and he recalled that the Pink Ranger sounded bubbly, and a little Valley Girl-Ish and the White Ranger sounded really masculine, like he worked out a lot. Your boss, Jeff, heard and saw the recording of that day that my friend recorded, and those voices sound a lot like yours and your husbands, Tommy is it?"

"Yes, that's him. Look, if you want me to step down, I will…"

"Let me finish…I heard the Power Rangers saved countless lives, but someone has been posting a lot of lies and negative things about the Power Rangers on the internet, and people are talking."

"I know, Jeff said me, and my friends should do some damage control, and I have a few friends who know their way around computers."

"I also suggest hiring a lawyer in case you need one."

"We have a great lawyer already lined up, thank you."

"You are an excellent psychologist, Kimberly, you shouldn't worry about losing your position over this, but until all of this blows over, for your sake, you're on paid personal leave until further notice."

"Okay, thank you, Mr. Burton," Kim said.

"You can call me Lance and thank you for all that you and your friends did to protect the world. Don't worry, your secret identities are safe with me and Jeff," Mr. Burton said as he left.

Kim and Tommy's House, Reefside

5 pm

When Kim pulled up to the house, the house smelled like food. She groaned as she got out of her car and walked up to the house.

"Tommy…don't tell me you are cooking?" Kim said in horror.

"Yes I am because you probably forgot that it's Wine and Poker night," Tommy said.

"Oh yeah, we're supposed to act normal while all this crap goes around about us," Kim said sarcastically.

"Kim, what is your problem?" Tommy asked.

"I got put on personal leave for the rest of this month and half of next month until all of this blows over. Why are you smiling?"

"Well, that's good because we can do some more renovations around here, and you got that community garden not far from here to work on with Trini."

"And what about you?"

"Elsa was forced to put me on paid personal leave for about the same time as you by the school board because of all the lies and rumors about us and the Power Rangers that have been going around."

"And what is she and Anton doing to help us?"

"The same as everyone is doing, good damage control. Ethan, Billy, Andros, and Justin are working around the clock to try and find the source of all the negative things that are being posted on the internet. NASADA has been helping to clear our names as well."

"Okay, but I don't want to have a drink with the girls. I'm going upstairs and turning in for the night. Goodnight," Kim said as she went upstairs.

A few minutes later Aisha and Jimmy showed up, Aisha with a bottle of wine and Jimmy with a case of beer.

"Hey Tommy, where's Kim?" Aisha said.

"Upstairs getting ready for bed. She doesn't feel like drinking wine tonight," Tommy said turning back to the stove.

"Uh-uh, she's not getting off that easy," Aisha said as she went up the stairs and let herself into the master bedroom.

"Kim? Are you decent?" Aisha said peeking into the room.

Kim was in the shower then.

Aisha went to the bathroom door and knocked.

"Ow! Who is that?!" Kim shouted as she got out of the shower.

"Just me, girl. Whatcha doing?"

"Taking a shower when you scared me. I bumped my head on the shower head. I think I may have a concussion."

"Let me look…nope, no bleeding, and you do not have a concussion. You're just trying to get out of wine night!"

"I don't feel like it."

"Girl, you never pass up wine night! Is it that crap going around about us and the power rangers?"

"Kind of."

"Of course it is! We're all feeling the same way as you! I lost several clients to other vet clinics because of this so it's not just you feeling the burn."

"Really?"

"Yes, really. Now get dressed and come downstairs. We'll have a glass of wine ready for you," Aisha said as she left the room and went downstairs.

10 minutes later Kim came downstairs and went straight to the parlor where the girls and her glass of wine was waiting.

"Hey girls," Kim said.

"Hey, Kim," Aisha, Tanya, Carrie, Trini, Cassie, and Ashley said as Kim sat down.

"So, any good gossip lately?" Kim asked.

"Who can gossip at a time like this? Girl, we got some serious damage control to do!" Aisha said.

"Okay, so which Power Ranger teams are affected by the so-called lies and rumors?"

"So far it's just the first team, Zeo, and the first Turbo Team. That's as far as the lineage goes," Trini said.

"Any idea of who is responsible?"

"Andros, Billy, Ethan, and Justin are still working on it, but they are getting close," Ashley said.

Just then Jason came into the room.

"Hey girls, I just got off the phone with the FBI, and they told us that they are taking over the investigation into the Trevor Jr./Sr. thing since the US Treasury was in Trevor Sr.'s plans. It is now a federal case and will be tried in the Federal Courts," Jason said.

"That's good to hear. Now you and Jimmy won't have to deal with him anymore," Aisha said.

"Yeah, but we will still be called to testify, so it's not "over" over," Jason said.

Just then there was a knock at the door. Kim went to answer it.

There was her father standing with the estranged twins.

"Dad? What're you doing here? And with them?" Kim asked.

"I'm sorry I wasn't around when you were a teenager, because I didn't know how tough they can be to handle," Kenneth said.

"I wasn't that bad," Kim scoffed.

"Really? Then why did your mother complain about your hormonal mood swings then?"

"So, I was a little bad, I admit. Couldn't take the heat, huh?"

"Well, when your son started disrespecting you and Tommy, and your daughter is secretly seeing the boy she shouldn't be seeing in the first place, then yeah, I can't."

"Wait, Amelia's still seeing Cody?" Kim asked.

"Yes, she is. Look, here they are. Your friends can help you if necessary. I gotta go," Kenneth said as he walked away.

JT went roughly past his parents and down to his room in the basement and slammed the door shut. Amelia sort of smiled as she went past to her room.

When Tommy and Kim went back into the living room, their friends looked at them with sympathy.

"How about we end things a little early tonight?" Tommy suggested.

"Good idea. You have more pressing things to address," Jason said patting Tommy on the shoulder as he got up to leave the rest following.

Tommy sighed rubbing the back of his head. Kim sighed uncomfortably.

"Let's get this over with, starting with Amelia," Tommy said heading to Amelia's room.

Kim knocked on Amelia's door. They heard talking in the room.

"Amelia, open this door now!" Tommy ordered.

The door opened.

"Who were you talking to?" Kim asked.

"Nobody," Amelia said.

"Would that happen to have been Cody, by chance?" Tommy asked.

"I don't know."

"Amelia Caroline Trini…" Kim started to say.

"Okay, okay! It was Cody!"

"Amelia, do you know what a restraining order is?" Tommy asked.

"Yes, Grandpa Hart told me," Amelia said.

"Do you know what happens when you violate a restraining order?"

"No."

"The cops get called and we get taken to jail, that's it."

Amelia blinked.

"Amelia don't act stupid. This is serious," Kim scolded her.

"But you don't understand…I need Cody, and Cody needs me!"

"You heard her…she needs him," JT spoke from the doorway.

"Don't you start, JT! You're already on thin ice, son!" Tommy said angrily.

"Sure I am."

"JT…" Kim warned him.

"Don't JT me, Mom. If Dad never crossed Trevor Sr.'s path, all of this would've never happened. Amelia would still be with Cody, and I would still be with Jess!"

Something snapped in Tommy, and he grabbed JT by the shirt collar and pulled him out of the doorway and shoved him against a wall.

Kim and Amelia screamed.

JT got out of Tommy's grasp and took a fighting stance. Tommy stared at him, anger in his eyes.

"Tommy don't stoop to his level! Just walk away, please!" Kim screamed.

Tommy started to walk towards Kim, but JT had other plans and leapt on Tommy's back.

Tommy tried to resist but JT had tackled him to the ground.

There was a knock at the front door. Kim rushed to the door. She was relieved to see Jason.

"Jason thank God, JT's got Tommy on the ground!" Kim screamed.

Without thinking Jason ran over to Tommy who was trying to fend himself from his son and dislodged JT from his father.

"JT, you need to calm down or I'm calling for backup!" Jason said to the teenager.

"Let…me…go!" JT said.

"Not unless you calm down!"

JT started to calm down then, and that's when the sirens sounded.

"Jason, if you didn't call for backup, then who did?" Kim asked.

Soon there were knocks at the door and Jason went to answer it.

"Oh Detective Scott, we didn't realize you were here…" the female officer said.

"That's fine…I just forgot my phone and was here to retrieve it," Jason said.

"Well, we're here because we got a call from a Mr. Stephenson that an Amelia Oliver had been in contact with his son Cody, and Mr. Stephenson had filed a restraining order against the Oliver family two weeks ago," the male officer said.

Jason looked at Kim and Tommy, who both looked at Amelia. Amelia looked like she was about to cry.
