Callie was bored and sore. It had only been a few days since her surgery, and she couldn't really do anything except watch movies and eat.

Since Callie couldn't go to school for at least a week, was at home with Lena. Stef couldn't take any days off, but Lena worked something out with Karina.

But right now, Lena was on a call, and Callie really wanted to play her guitar.

Callie was supposed to be camped out on the couch for a while to not move her knee too much, but she didn't want to bother Lena, so she got up, and slowly crutched her way to the stairs.

One by one, she went up the steps with her crutches. It took a good five minutes, but she make it upstairs and went right into her and Marianas bedroom.

Callie plopped herself down on her bed and grabbed the guitar that was resting against the wall and began playing a few chords.

When she was probably around 9, her mom, Colleen, taught her how to play. Whenever she could, she tried to play and learn more chords and songs, even after her mom died.

As the years went by, Callie did play pretty well. For her, it was a way to cope and deal with everything going on in her life. Like an outlet.

And she was really thankful that Brandon gave her that outlet back.

Lena finished her call with a sigh. Being at home with Callie was a nice break, but it meant she had to handle a lot of things over the phone.

She checked the time, and decided to go ask Callie if she was ready for lunch.

But she wasn't there.

Her heart skipped a beat as she quickly looked around the bottom floor of the house. No one.

Then she heard it. The quiet tunes of a guitar. Lena was honestly not surprised that Callie managed to get herself upstairs, but she knew Callie wasn't supposed to do that, especially by herself. But when Callie put her mind to something, whatever it was got done.

Lena knocked on Callie's door once before opening it. "Hey." Lena said softly as she saw the girl on her bed, guitar in hand.

"Hi." Callie replied, stopping the guitar. "You're good on that thing, you know?" Lena commented. "My mom taught me." Callie admitted.

"She must've been talented." The principal said, sitting down next to Callie. "How's your leg?" She asked.

"Kind of sore." The teen whispered honestly. "You took a little adventure." Lena said, not trying to sound like she was blaming Callie.

"Sorry. I was bored." Callie said, looking down at her lap. "Hey. It's okay." Lena said, tilting Callie's chin up. "Why did you ask me, slug a bug?"

"I didn't want to bother you." Callie admitted. "Honey, if you need something, you can tell me. You're not bothering me. It's my job to take care of you. Okay?" Lena asked.

Callie smiled shyly and nodded. "Okay. Do you want anything to eat for lunch?" Lena questioned, standing up. "A sandwich?" Callie asked hesitantly.

"Sure. Turkey, cheese, mayo?"

"Yes please." Callie smiled. "Okay. Be back soon." Lena said.

Hours later, Lena had helped Callie back downstairs, and all the kids and Stef arrived home.

"Hey, love." Stef said with a smile, walking up and embracing her partner. "Hey. How was work?" Lena asked, kissing her softly.

"Oh, fine. How was Callie today?" Stef asked. "Very antsy. She managed to get upstairs without me knowing." Lena explained.

"Oh, really? What was she doing?"

"Playing the guitar Brandon gave her. She's quite a talented kid." The curly haired woman said proudly. "Let me guess, she didn't want to ask you because she didn't want to bother you?" Stef asked knowingly.

Lena laughed and nodded. "You know, she may not be biologically yours, but she really is a mini you."

Stef gave her a look and Lena chuckled. "She's definitely most like you out of all the kids. Stubborn, protective, caring." She said.

"Ah, she's such a good kid." Stef breathed. "Go spend some time with her. She's getting stir crazy." Lena said with a nod. "Okay."

Stef made her way into the living room, where Callie was sitting, watching tv. "Hey." She said with a smile, sitting down next to the young girl.

"Hi." Callie replied, lighting up at the sight of Stef. "How're ya? Have a good day?" The cop asked. "I'm so bored." Callie replied with a sigh.

"I bet. Leg feeling okay?"

"Yeah, Lena just gave me some medicine." Callie explained. "Okay. Where are the other kiddos?" Stef questioned.

"Mariana went to grab my guitar for me, Jude's doing homework, Jesus is working out I think and Brandon is playing piano or something." Callie replied.

"Hi, mom." Mariana said as she came into the living room, Callie's guitar in hand. She handed it to her foster sister and sat down.

"Can you play songs and stuff?" Mariana asked curiously. "Um, really basic ones." Callie responded. "Like what?" Stef stepped in.

"Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Amazing Grace. Just easy songs like that." Callie said. "Ooh, play Amazing Grace. That's Lena's favorite song." Stef exclaimed.

Callie began strumming cords and Stef was pleasantly surprised, as was Mariana.

She finished the song and blushed when she saw the two women looking at her. "That was really good." Mariana said with a smile.

"Yeah, it really was, kiddo. You ever think about joining band or guitar club at school?" Stef asked. "I don't know." Callie mumbled, biting her lip.

"Well, think about it, kiddo. You're a very talented young lady." Stef smiled gently.
