Hello and welcome back. This chapter took much longer to write than anticipated. Between getting sick, turning twenty, and having some family drama I've been plenty busy. Hopefully this will still be an enjoyable chapter. This chapter contains mentions of heat, brief but recurring undescriptive mentions of sexual urges, inferenced PTSD, and more major themes namely in the flashback segment includes viewing underage omegas as sexual beings, the buying and selling of humans, very brief mentions of the nudity of minors, the casual societal acceptance of usage of omegas as breeders, forced prostitution of minors, viewing individuals as broken/faulty/useless for their lack of typical bodily functions, repression, inferenced verbal/emotional abuse, the brief comparison of omegas to cattle, and things of this nature. I apologize if I left anything out, please let me know if I have and I will be sure to add it. As always take care of yourselves and thank you for reading!
"See the light as it shines on the sea? It's blinding! But no one knows how deep it goes. And it seems like it's calling out to me, so come find me, and let me know what's beyond that line? Will I cross that line? And the line where the sky meets the sea, it calls me! And no one knows how far it goes. If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me; one day I'll know how far I'll go!" Roman belted out as he danced around his room alone, getting dressed and ready for the day.
"Hey, Moana, you ready yet?" a voice called from outside his door.
Roman's face flushed with embarrassment at being caught randomly singing in his room.
"Go away, Remus. I'll see you in the kitchen later," Roman called back.
"Whatever Tweety Bird, as long as you are happy," Remus snorted from the other side of the door before his steps faded away.
Roman frowned as he embarrassedly pulled at his shirt. Perhaps he'd been too loud.
Roman pulled the hard shaped charm around his head and looked up at the urn on top of his dresser, still surrounded by the remaining flowers left from the funeral the previous day.
"I cried a lot yesterday, but Daddy's gonna do his best today, okay? I promise," he smiled sadly, fiddling with the ash filled charm.
Roman took another breath before turning away and heading out of his room. The house was growing more familiar with each day. It was odd to think of how quickly he'd settled down into this new location he dared to call home. Janus was impossibly kind to have given him this chance to live in his house in spite of how much of a bother he was. The other omegas were sweet and accepting towards him. After the hell he'd been through, this was a blessing he wasn't sure he deserved, but he'd make sure to appreciate every second he was allowed to monopolize this spoiled existence.
He rounded the corner of the long hall to enter the kitchen and connected dining hall where the others had already situated themselves down for breakfast.
"Mnnnn! Please for the love of god tell me this feeling eventually goes away," Virgil complained, leaning back in his seat to pull at his clothing uncomfortably.
"You're gonna have to be a bit more specific than that, Kiddo," Patton replied with a concerned raise of his brow.
"Yeah! Are we talking about trauma feelings, horny feelings, mushy gushy love feelings, persistent urge to stab a tangerine feelings?" Remus added, waving his fork around as he spoke.
Roman paused just outside the entrance of the dining room to let them have their conversation, unsure of if Virgil, despite their growing relationship, would want to direct his issue towards Roman as well. Janus turned from where he stood soaking some of the dishes to help Patton with the cleaning, noticing Roman standing around. When he raised a questioning brow Roman just smiled and nodded towards the others. Janus smiled himself as he moved to stand against the wall beside Roman, resting a fond hand on his head. Roman let out a purr and leaned into the gentle affection as the others continued their conversation in the other room.
"No this whole, ugh, tingley thingy! It feels like I'm still in heat but I'm not. It's weird and I feel so sensitive to everything right now. I had a distraction with the whole funeral thing yesterday but now there is nothing to keep my mind off of the fact I want to tear this damn thing off my chest!" Virgil snapped, trying to fidget with something beneath his hoodie.
"Oh yeah, we did forget to warn you about that one. I went around in my birthday suit for the first few days. First heat as a bonded omega is intense, aint it, Patt?" Remus hummed thoughtfully, turning his attention to the white furred omega.
"Yeah, I think I experienced something like that. It's been about four years now. It gets easier to manage as you get used to it, just maybe just take off restrictive garments, okay Kiddo? It'll all be okay, you have all of us to help you," Patton chirped.
Roman glanced into the kitchen watching the four omegas. Logan was just sitting there, trying to finish his breakfast. He wasn't joining in on the conversation at all, he wasn't showing much emotion either. Logan was the most understanding and knowledgeable omega Roman had been privileged enough to meet, it was strange he wasn't even being asked for his input. Now that Roman thought about it, in the few conversations they'd held of this nature Logan never participated. He wanted to know why.
"Roman?" Janus questioned quietly sensing Roman's unease.
"-want to ask…" Roman mumbled.
"No one will stop you from asking anything or speaking your mind Roman, you don't have to keep to yourself out here alone," Janus replied with a curious glint in his own eyes.
Before second guessing himself Roman rounded the corner and stepped into the dinning room.
"Why don't you include Logan?" He asked.
"Pardon?" Logan inquired upon hearing his name.
"When you talk about normal omega things. It's always Remus and Patton explaining. Logan, you're spectacular with reasoning through things and giving advice, I saw it the moment I walked through the door. Why don't you include yourself?" Roman pried passionately.
Roman felt the alpha of the household place a hand on his shoulder and he shrank down. This likely wasn't what Janus had expected him to bring up. People might be upset. Roman had made a fool of himself. He was insensitive. Out of line. This isn't his home. This isn't his pack. He had no right to question the way things are. He was the abnormal one. He didn't like this kind of attention. It was going to be like drawing too much attention from master and mistress again. He should get comfortable, he knew that. Never speak out, never question, worry about others in private where no one else is involved.
"Ah, well it's simply just the one area where I have very little expertise," Logan mused thoughtfully.
Roman blinked out of his dazed panic to stare back at the studious omega who was standing up from the table and checking his watch.
"Didn't mean to seem like we were trying to mistreat him or anything… It's just, well…" Virgil trailed off and Patton reached across and tapped his hand.
"I think it's best if we let Logan explain this one, Kiddo," Patton finished.
"Unfortunately I must be heading out to class so I don't have much time to thoroughly discuss my predicament when it comes to the more omega specific aspects in life, however I did promise to you to share how I came to be in this household after Patton recounted his own past for you and as the two topics are correlated, I give my consent for you to be fully informed my history," Logan said in a clear and formal manor to leave no room for misinterpretation before nodding to Janus and adding his final condition. "If Janus has time and wishes to share it as well that is."
"No, my agency will simply die without me being there two hours early," Janus smirked. "I can spare the time. Safe travels to your class Starlight. Don't forget what you've been taught."
"It would be absurd to think I wouldn't, Janus," Logan replied in a surprisingly sincere tone.
The other three said their brief goodbyes and Logan approached Roman, resting a hand on his shoulder as he passed.
"Remember this Roman, everything I am and have experience has let me become my truest self. I owe a lot to it and to Janus. Don't upset yourself like you did with Patton's story, even if it brings back unfortunate memories of yourself and Remus's youth. I don't need any pity, I've learned to be content and accept facts. Janus taught me that. He has saved me in many ways since we met," Logan explained. "I'll see you tonight and any questions you still have. Take care of yourself"
Roman watched him leave from their line of sight, doors soon sounding in the distance. With that Janus's hand moved to the small of Roman's back, leading him to the table where he was sat down beside Remus who instantly took to gripping his hand.
"I suppose I should begin with Logan's request," Janus stated with a heavy sigh as he took his own seat at the head of the table. "You know how and when Patton and I met, correct?"
Roman nodded, settling down to pay attention.
"Well it was roughly four or five months after Patton came into my life that Logan joined us as well, it was mostly my father's fault, but I suppose I'm grateful for his insistent nagging or else I don't wish to think of what Logan's life would have been like," Janus began.
Janus hadn't wanted this by any means. It was simply because his father's peer pressure was becoming a nuisance to his everyday life and he was concerned about the repercussions it would have on Patton. As his father saw it, Janus and Patton were getting along swimmingly, which was quite true, although Janus was still refusing to treat Patton like an omega. They stayed in the same room, they spent time together, but Janus asked for nothing from Patton and in the two instances where Patton had experienced a heat within their household Janus was rarely around him for more than a few comforting moments, asking his mother to care for Patton in his stead. His father wanted more and insisted that perhaps with a properly trained omega that Patton could be taught and Janus would come to embrace his role as an alpha.
Janus hated the idea of supporting a corrupt system that forced omegas to bear children and any omega offspring they produced were taken by the facilities to be raised and sold like cattle, the alpha and betas either sent off to their other parent or put up for adoption. It was disturbing and sickening how it was just a culturally accepted practice. However he was at least grateful that since this was his father's idea and not his own, he was given money straight from his father's pockets and not his own allowance. He also was grateful he'd been allowed to choose where he was allowed to get this omega from, thus he could choose a less expensive ring that was better known for being less harsh and strict with their "products" training. The fact his father wasn't here and he was allowed to go to a pre-sale instead of an auction was a blessing in and of itself. The idea of seeing countless children being paraded around unclothed and bound by chains while alphas fought for who would be able to keep them was nauseating enough to imagine. His father wasn't very understanding of his opinions, but at least this trust showed he was indeed trying his best to meet Janus half way. All Janus had to do was bring home any omega branded by the company of his choice.
Patton hadn't been very happy about Janus finally accepting his father's request. It was a reasonable response in Janus's opinion. Patton was only recently brought to him and the idea of Janus becoming more like his father or Patton losing the favor to the individual that promised to care for him was likely very frightening for the boy. Especially seeing as though, whatever omega Janus brought home was by all societal standards superior to him and there was no telling what the future would hold once this omega was living alongside him. Janus had done his best to reassure him that this was only to lessen his father's involvement in their relationship and that this was the only one that he'd ever buy. It would just be the three of them together unless either chose to leave him when the time came that he was able to leave his father's house.
Janus pulled his car off into a small lot outside of a tall barbed fence and put it in park. He continued to cycle through his weak justifications for why he was doing this as he stepped out of his car. He wasn't a bad person for purchasing an omega. He was just doing this to calm his father down. He was getting another omega to help them, it was to save them from whatever uncertain fate they could meet at the hands of another alpha. It was only one, he could manage two omegas, he wouldn't become someone that neglects their omegas emotional needs because there were too many for him to take care of. It was to benefit the life of an unfortunate omega, not a market system that deserved to be shut down.
The gates swung open as he approached, a middle aged omega in a long off white coat striding forward to meet him.
"You must be Mr. Dolion, your father called and told me to be expecting your visit," the man said, beaming almost excitedly.
"And you must be Mr. Rogers, the current owner of this establishment," Janus replied with a forced smile.
"That I am. I've already gone ahead and arranged everything to make this important decision of yours as easy as possible. Come along now, they are waiting for you," the man grinned leading him in.
The area consisted of several buildings, circled by long structures labeled one through twelve, the final one, closest to the entrance labeled Nursery. At the very center was a watch tower surrounded by what appeared to be a small office building. There were a few buildings jutting off of the main center structure with signs labeling them such as "Etiquette", "English" or "Dining Hall". It vaguely resembled a prison encampment in Janus's opinion, a realization he didn't find entirely surprising considering how omegas from these locations were often treated.
Mr. Rogers led Janus to one of the closest buildings along the edge, the sign labeling it as house twelve. There were a decent amount more workers in the area around the building, compared to everywhere else which made Janus able to presume they'd been moved to this location purely because of his presence. When he approached one of the workers grabbed a tray they had been keeping on a nearby ledge and brought it over.
"We must ask you take these before entering. It's simply a mild suppressant to dull your senses in regards to omega hormones without completely cutting them off. We wish for you to be able to experience them, however as some of our upcoming products are ready to enter heat we don't wish to risk the possibility of a product being accidently tainted in a bout of instinctual excitement. I hope you can understand," the man explained.
Janus blinked softly in surprise, he hadn't expected the request but he supposed it made sense. There was a part of him reluctant about taking medication and beverages from strangers, he'd done plenty of research on the location and there wasn't anything suspicious of that nature and the medication was in a sealed compartment still with a safety seal bearing the name of the suppressant company and its scientific name. His father also was aware of his location and had been here before, if anything happened there was no doubt his father would be quick to realize and come to his aid.
"Of course, I have no quarrel with the request," Janus replied after his initial reluctance, taking the small pill and the glass of water from the tray.
He peeled open the casing of the pill and downed it with the glass of water in hopes of avoiding its bitter taste. He then waited outside the building for roughly ten minutes for the medicine to take effect, discussing the details of the future transaction with Mr. Rogers.
"Do you have any preferences for your omegas? Gender, appearance, personality, talents," he was asked.
"Not particularly, I suppose I have a slight preference for males but ultimately it does not matter to me," Janus replied vaguely, not wanting to limit his choices and risk the man trying to choose which omega he'd want.
"Ah, well we have many beautiful boys for you to pursue. If you are interested I can see to picking out our top candidates for you to meet once we are inside, to not waste your time on less desirable products," Rogers suggested.
Janus internally winced at the suggestion. His father would be thrilled by him choosing the best the location had to offer, however he was well aware that the higher the price tag on the omega the better their owners typically treated them. If he truly wanted to help an omega, he needed to find one that wasn't going to be as highly treated by their potential owners. It was a hard enough task for him to decide what type of price tag a facility like this would try to put on a person's head, it would be even more impossible if he was only presented with the best of the best.
"I appreciate the offer and I may take you up on it later, however I wish to observe all of them first," Janus forced out a formal and polite reply.
Mr. Rogers continued to talk to him idly before glancing down at his watch.
"Should have been long enough now. Let's head in shall we?"
Janus followed him through the swinging double doors and into the building where he was met by the sight of far more omegas that he'd expected crowded together, sitting on the floor of a common room that resides between a series of entryways into bedrooms.
"This is the dormitory for the auctionable products, however we brought the two younger age groups in case they'd be more to your preference. The eldest are marked with lavender bands on their wrists, the next eldest with the indigo, and the final group with blue. If you wish to visit another age group they are still in their respective dorms but we will take you to them," Mr. Rogers explained.
Janus smiled and nodded understandingly through the disgust, resisting the urge to slap the man for suggesting he take someone as young as ten as a mate, even going as far as to insinuate he may want to choose from even younger individuals. Selling twelve year olds was bad enough, even if it wasn't much coming from him who technically owned the freshly fourteen year old Patton.
"I'd love to see this selection you've brought together," he stated, trying to sound pleasant.
Janus stepped forward to observe the omegas. Most of them weren't participating in any notable activities in the room, not that there were many items to begin with. There were a handful of toys and books but nothing of any extravagance. The omegas were generally all keeping an eye on the new alpha, buzzing with hopeful energy as they shifted around and strained to be taller so Janus might take better notice of them. He looked over the crowd of traditionally beautiful individuals, half amused and half upset by their actions. They were so desperate for him to notice them and want them that it was devastating, but also the lack of subtlety in their attempts was so adorably childish he was glad it hadn't been fully trained out of them.
With so many attempting to draw his attention it was the lack of movement that caught his attention instead. A black haired boy resting against the left hand wall, leaning against the open frame into one of the bedrooms. His jet black ears were still, clearly not taking interest in the growing commotion while the white tipped tail was tucked neatly under his raised knees to be out of the way. His head was tilted down squinting slightly at the book in his hands that he was focusing on reading.
Janus gave a fond breathy sound as he observed the omegas strange behavior, observing him a bit more closely. To his surprise when he attempted to check the wristband's color to find his age, there was no wristband to be found. Janus considered for a moment that the boy might be a volunteer here to simply keep up the morale of the omegas, however he also knew facilities only accepted beta volunteers. He couldn't tell why the omega showed such little care about the situation or why he wasn't marked. He was curious but he was worried he may get the boy in trouble.
"Excuse me, but is there a reason why any of the omegas here might not have a band?" Janus asked, trying not to point out the individual he was speaking about.
"Are you referring to the reading one over there?" he questioned in turn, nodding over to the omega Janus had in fact been talking about.
Janus nodded in agreement, relaxing a bit upon the realization the man was already aware of the boy and was not appearing upset.
"The boy isn't part of any of our current groups. He was from last year's batch. He is not a desirable product, believe me. He's just temporarily living here in this dorm since we had no better place for him," Rodgers explained with a nonchalant shrug.
Janus mused on the given information. That meant the boy was thirteen, not much of an age gap between him and Patton. However he was incredibly curious as to how he hadn't been sold, usually the omegas were kept at the market until every last one was sold.
"Might I inquire why he isn't a desirable product?" Janus pried.
"Well he's always had an issue with being a bit unresponsive compared to everyone else but that wasn't a problem. It was when his heat came we realized there was a problem, it was simply unusual compared to all of the others. We kept him here for observation in hopes that whatever issue had occurred would sort itself out, however we realized it was perhaps worse than we anticipated. We recently had a specialist come in to find the solution and it seems to be an issue not worth the price. The boy has a condition in which he has the inability to produce sufficient hormones, thus resulting in infertility and more importantly the inability to have a proper heat cycle," the man sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "The only way to remedy the issue is to keep him on a regular dosage of hormones, but as I'm sure you know the hormones of a male omega are a delicate balance, it's expensive medications and involves regular checkups. He's too faulty to bother with upkeep and practically a beta without it. He's a lost cause. We managed to make a deal with one of the brothels that thinks they can still get some use out of him. They've already purchased him and have arranged to have him dropped off in two days time. He's been informed and is prepared to leave."
Janus's heart went out for the poor boy. There was no reality in which a thirteen year old should ever be forced into prostitution.
"Pardon me, I have something I wish to investigate," Janus stated curtly, leaving no room for argument as he walked away.
He approached the omega of conversation and knelt beside him, moving slowly so as to not startle him. He was vaguely surprised even though he knew he shouldn't be, with the type of suppressants he was on and the omegas apparently already weak pheromones the boy was quite literally no different than a beta scent-wise.
"Hello, might I inquire about what you are reading?" Janus asked.
The boy's eyes barely shifted up to meet his before looking away again. Despite the unreadable look on his face his body became ever so slightly more closed off from the stranger. His deep brown eyes were dull, empty, something he hadn't expected to see from someone so young.
"It's an adventure story about a pirate," he replied bluntly, handing it over without any hesitation.
"You don't need to give it to me. You can continue reading it," Janus insisted.
"I am on my seventh read and you are interested in it, thus it's yours," he stated, still holding it out.
Janus took it from his hand and set it between them.
"Who said I wanted it? I don't intend to steal from you," Janus replied. "I simply wished to spark conversation."
The omega remained quiet, staring out into the room of omegas who pouted at him for being the one the alpha visitor approached first.
"You've read the story quite a bit, huh? Is it your favorite?" Janus tried again.
"I have nothing I favor. I simply don't have many books and none of them take long to read," the boy replied bluntly.
"Ah, I see. I have a big library at my house. I bet you'd love it. I highly doubt you'd be able to get through all of those books as quickly. Would you perhaps be interested in seeing it?" Janus grinned hopefully.
"If you're wishing to purchase me, I am not for sale. I've already been sold and I'm sure you'll find the company of any of the others far preferable to mine," the boy stated unwavering.
"I was told about that particular sale, it is a rather reversible one, I assure you," Janus waved his hand dismissively.
"I don't believe that statement to be accurate. However, even if it was, I still would not make good company for you. You needn't waste your time on further pursuit of my companionship."
"Oh, why don't you tell me why you think I'd prefer the company of a different omega? I'm conversing with you right now aren't I? I find you a good conversationalist," Janus insisted, trying to figure out exactly what was going on behind the boy's mask.
"I am a broken and faulty product," he replied simply.
Janus flinched at how unfazed the boy seemed about calling himself such derogatory terms.
"I don't believe there is such a thing as a faulty omega," Janus argued gently.
"An omega that cannot produce a heat that lasts more than two days if they can produce one at all is barely even an omega," he replied, gaze lowering slowly.
"An omega is not determined by their heat," Janus pressed.
"I am not a suitable and proper omega," he continued.
"Stop just repeating what they've told you!"
It was the first time he saw a reaction out of the boy. He hadn't meant to raise his voice but when he did he noticed the boy jolt slightly with fear. His dark eyes appeared even more glazed than before.
"Please listen to me, I'm sorry for what they made you believe but I promise, it's not true. At least not to everyone. Your worth isn't based on an urge to mate. I want you as a partner, a lifelong friend. I don't care about your sexual drive, or lack there of. If it's something you eventually want when you are older, okay. If you don't it's fine too, it doesn't matter to me," Janus promised before laughing slightly. "To be honest it'll piss my dad off which is very much a positive for me."
The omega just blinked blankly, staying completely silent.
"Can you please at least tell me your name?" Janus tried and after a long pause of the boy not speaking still he continued. "My name is Janus if you wish to know."
"If you desire me, wouldn't you wish to give me a name?" The omega finally muttered.
"Not particularly. Not unless you have a different name you'd prefer," Janus replied
"Logan… My mother named me Logan," he stated.
"Logan, look at me for a moment," Janus pleaded, gently turning the boy towards him. "Logan, tell me with full honesty if you really alright with be sold off as a prostitute."
The boy stared at him, the longer the unwavering kind gaze fixed on him the more he began to crumble and break. The emotionless facade he wore giving way to visible terror and pain, tears streaking down his crinkled face. Whimpers escaped his throat as he couldn't manage to find his words. Janus knew well enough what he truly wished to say.
"I know it's cruel to ask you to answer me in this state but I want this to be your choice; would you want to possibly go home with me instead?" Janus asked.
"Don't deserve… Broken…" Logan mumbled, gripping at his arms tightly, his nails tearing at the pale flesh turning it bright red, his eyes no longer able to meet Janus's
"Logan, you shouldn't lie to yourself like that. You're not broken. You're wonderfully unique and special. "
"Pl-se… don wan… Pl-se. Save 'e," the boy croaked out brokenly between stifled sobs.
Janus wrapped an arm around him and let out a soothing scent in an attempt to ease the omega, hoping it's still work in spite of the fact he wasn't a traditional omega.
"Is that a yes?"
Logan nodded vigorously into Janus's chest but stiffened even more than before.
"They won-won't allow it… 'm faulty. Can't sell me," Logan sniffled mournfully before straightening up and looking back at Janus, the blank accepting expression that showed nothing slipping back into place. "I'd ruin their reputation, they cannot sell me as a normal sale. Besides I've already been sold all of the plans are in place. It's too late. I-I apologize for my emotional outburst."
"Hm, we'll see about that. Let me deal with the overlord," Janus replied, holding out his hand for Logan.
Logan was tentative, watching Janus skeptically before eventually giving a weak smile and accepting the hand up. He let Janus lead him straight over to where Mr. Rogers was watching them fidgeting around with clear anxiety and his face was pale with horror.
"Mr. Dolion, w-what are you doing?" He questioned despite clearly knowing the answer.
"I've found the omega I wish to purchase," Janus replied curtly.
"Sir, I've already informed you he is a faulty omega. We cannot sell him. Please reconsider, we have plenty of similar omegas that are able to serve you much better than this one," Mr. Rogers reasoned pleadingly.
"I don't believe that humans can be faulty. I'm perfectly willing to pay whatever is asked of me," Janus countered.
Janus could feel Logan shying behind him and grabbed for his hand comfortingly to try to reassure him that he had it all under control.
"We cannot risk our reputation Sir. He is infertile. While this might seem appealing now to avoid pregnancy scares I assure you that you will grow tired of him eventually when he cannot produce a strong heat. We cannot tarnish our name with an omega that cannot deliver," Mr. Rogers argued more firmly than before.
Logan sagged and tried to pull away to go sit back down but Janus kept his hold on his hand.
"I can assure you I won't grow tired of him. There is more I look for in an omega than their heats."
"Mr. Dolion-"
"Let's put it this way. I will buy him for whatever you'd charge for your finest omega here, as I personally see him to be the best you have. If you do, then you can simply buy him back from the brothel for the pitiful amount you likely sold him for and be able to keep the excess. If you refuse then I'll simply have to go to the brothel, buy him from them and they get to keep the excess money. Now, I do believe one way would be better for business so I should hope you'd make the right decision," Janus stated his mismatched eyes going cold as he glared down at the man. "Do we have a deal?"
"The boy is useless to you!"
"Do we have a deal?"
The room fell silent, buzzing with anxious energy as the alpha voice bellowed out and the air grew heavy with an aggressive scent of alpha pheromones. To even Janus's surprise Logan didn't pull away from Janus out of fear, he just stared at him in amazement, surprised he'd go that far for someone like him. Meanwhile the lesser alpha in front of him found himself cowering like most of the omegas in the room.
"D-deal," he croaked out, his throat having gone dry from the surprise.
"Splendid. I'm sure you have some paperwork for me. Let's get to signing them shall we? Wait here for me, alright Logan?" Janus grinned back at the awestruck omega.
Janus was led into a side camera room, the only lockable door in the entire dormitorium. He was handed a series of paperwork to sign which he took his time reading all of the fine print to, knowing his father's line of work well enough that he knew better than to sign anything without knowing exactly what they say. Most of it was pretty basic things. Just statements stating he was claiming ownership of the omega, the facility was not responsible for any medical or behavior problems that arose after purchase and stating that all conditions had been fully disclosed before the sale. Nothing particularly odd or suspicious so he signed his names in all necessary locations and paid the full amount in cash, courtesy of his father. He then was finally able to return to the main room where Logan still stood waiting for him, hands clasped together as he stared at the ground.
"Ready to go?" Janus called over.
"A-am I really leaving with you?" Logan asked, not quite believing his sudden change of reality.
"Yeah, you're going to your new home," Janus promised, lending him his hand.
Logan's finger tentatively wrapped around Janus's and let himself be led out of the building, down the path and out the front gate. He brought the omega to the car and helped him sit down and get buckled up. By the time Janus got into his own seat Logan was shifting around, barely able to contain the energy that seemed ready to burst out of him at any moment.
"When we arrive home there is someone I'd like you to meet, his name is Patton," Janus stated, pulling out of the parking lot and beginning the long drive home.
Logan paused for a moment, pandering what Janus had said.
"What is he to you?" Logan asked.
"He's my omega whom I intend to make my mate if he so wishes, when he is older that is," Janus explained.
"Oh… I see," Logan mumbled, his finally excited gaze growing dull again.
Janus glanced over at him, brows furrowing worriedly. It was obvious Logan was upset, perhaps even disappointed.
"Logan, when I move out of my father's house I wish to give you the same choice as Patton. You can leave and I'll do my best to support you going forward with whatever path you choose in life even if it does not involve me or you can choose to stay by my side and I'd happily take you as a mate," Janus explained.
"You'd want me as your mate even though I'm…" Logan trailed off.
"I'd happily have you as a mate when you are old enough if you want me. I told you, that kind of thing doesn't matter to me," Janus replied.
"But what about our heats? Mine may be weak but I still occasionally have one and I'm sure your Patton has them. You stress we'd be mates when we are older, but what of until then?" Logan pried curiously.
"I'm most certainly a horney bustard that attacks young omegas that barely understand the concept of sex just because they smell good," Janus rolled his eyes sarcastically. "You're both young teens. I'm in no rush, I'll wait until you are both older."
"But I thought alphas couldn't help it," Logan frowned.
"Well there are some times that are harder than others as some omegas have stronger pheromones than others. But if you actually care about an omega more than your own desires it can most certainly 'be helped'. Saying one can't help it is just there to enable bad behavior. I've been around omegas in heat my entire life since my father owns multiple omegas and I've abstained all eighteen years of my life and I don't plan to lose that virginity to something that isn't completely consensual and planned when both parties are in stable mindsets," Janus explained.
Logan seemed a bit more pleased with Janus's answer now relaxing into his seat. He continued to occasionally pipe up with questions about what to expect from this new household and Janus would vaguely respond with statements about how he could do whatever he wanted.
Late into the drive Janus noticed the effects of the medication lifting and he could finally smell Logan for the first time. It was most certainly soft and subtle but it was there, quiet and calming just like he was. He could tell he'd quickly grow fond of it.
The large mansion home of his father came into view and Logan pressed against the window gaping in awe at what they were approaching. Janus watched the boy sparkle with wonder, getting to experience new sights for the first time in his life. He parked the car and led Logan up to the doors of the house where his father was already waiting for them. Janus shared a short greeting with him, keeping Logan at a distance as he handed back the remaining money and headed inside where Janus instantly had to regain his footing as a forceful weight threatened to knock him over.
"Janny!" Patton chirped excitedly.
"I take it you didn't miss me at all?" Janus chuckled.
"Of course I missed you, it is boring here all alone. The other omegas look at me weirdly," Patton complained.
"That's just because they are jealous," Janus replied before clearing his throat. "Patton, there is someone you need to meet. Logan, this is Patton. Patton this is Logan," Janus said, stepping aside so the omegas could meet.
Patton walked over and looked at Logan for a long moment. Logan saw the prettier slightly older omega and exposed his neck slightly to allow Patton to add his scent as a sign of superiority. Instead of acknowledging Logan's subtle movements he just began to smile widely.
"Well, it's nice to meet you," Patton chirped happily.
Janus watched Logan draw back again, his eyes growing distant again as he began to frown. Janus could tell he was disappointed about something. Apparently Patton could tell as well because he suddenly tackled in a large hug.
"Don't look so sad Logan! It's nice here. I don't know what you went through at those weird breeder places since I didn't come from one, but Janny's good I swear and I know we can be great friends," Patton promised worriedly.
Logan blinked in surprise but seemed to calm down.
"It's a pleasure to meet you. I can see why your alpha speaks so highly of you," Logan stated.
"Uh uh, he's our alpha now. You're part of the family too!" Patton insisted to which Logan began to smile softly.
"Thank you for your acceptance into the family," Logan said, dipping his head, squeaking a bit when Patton hugged him again, squeezing more tightly than he had before.
Janus smiled down at the two of them.
"Hey Logan, I recall telling you about that library of ours. Would you happen to be interested?" Janus asked.
Logan lit up as he nodded enthusiastically.
"Yes please, Janus," He replied.
"So he's infirtile?" Roman clarified.
"Mhm, his wonky heats make it so he really doesn't have the same experience with bonding and all of that fancy stuff. He's just his own special, unique self," Patton explained.
"I've offered multiple times to get him on hormones to attempt to rectify the major imbalance and get his body on a more healthy rhythm. But he, at the moment, just embraces it, it's who he is," Janus added.
"I guess that explains his weak scent," Roman mumbled, rubbing the back of his head.
"And why he trusts Lo-Lo more than the rest of us," Remus teased.
"I don't trust him more," Janus argued before pausing and sighing. "I just feel more comfortable with him being alone than the rest of you and that still isn't saying much. I don't like anyone not having at least one other person with them in case something happens. When Logan asked to attend college and I realized he'd be alone he reassured me that he wouldn't draw as much unwanted attention because his scent wouldn't draw people to notice him, they'd pick on omegas who had naturally alluring scents. Even still I made sure he took plenty of self defense classes and I still worry about him."
"But because of his circumstances he's able to go out and achieve his dreams, huh?" Roman mused.
"Pretty much," Virgil piped up.
Roman couldn't help but feel a new appreciation for Logan. He'd been through a lot, but he'd made himself a life, taking advantage of that difference to do things omegas typically couldn't. He still felt badly about all the things he'd probably been through, just like he and Remus had been, but at least Janus had found him and helped give him a chance at life, just like he was doing for Roman now.
