Note: This story takes place after season 2 of Vampire Knight Guilty. It has no affliction towards the manga but it will hint at some of the events happening.
Cleaning her dagger with a cotton cloth, Alice glanced over at the silver haired man laying on the dungeon floor. She had waited for the man to wake but it seemed like he had forced himself into a deep slumber. She had no choice but to force the monster out of him. His connection to Kaname and Yuki remained a mystery that she had to unfold. Moreover, she had to avenge her honor and pride.
"Time to wake up, Level E. Show me what you're made of" She mumbled before slitting her wrist.
The blood slowly dripped down her arm and onto the cold ground and pooled in front of the prisoner. Suddenly, the man opened his eyes and growled before attempting to lunge at her. As fangs grew out of his teeth and claws began to emerge, Alice remained still in hopes that his human nature would overpower his thirst.
"If he continues to attack, slay him,"
Alice looked over her shoulder and Marcus nodded. She waited patiently for a small glimpse of the human inside him- but as 10 minutes passed, he remained the same. A bit disappointed, she sighed before turning around and handing Marcus a katana from the shelves.
"It's a pity you won't live to see me kill Kaname", She mumbled before taking a step. Suddenly the growling stopped and the man froze.
"Y-Yuki.." The man's raspy voice echoed in her head. Shocked, Alice turned around to find the stranger panting and sweating- he had suppressed his Level E instinct. Marcus unsheathed the katana and began to step toward the silver haired man. No matter how important he was to Alice, Marcus wanted to keep her as safe as possible.
"Marcus, stand down" said Alice as she approached the stranger once more. His fangs had retracted and the symbol on his neck was no longer glowing. Curious, she bent down towards him and observed his face as he weakly lifted his head to look at her.
"Who are you and what is your relation to the Kuran household?" she asked him. He chuckled a bit before looking away and glancing at his surroundings.
"Who are you to ask me? I have no answer for you"
Appalled, Alice lifted his chin with her finger and stared straight into his lavender eyes. How dare a lowly monster, a level E that merely survived the cold disobey her? She clenched her fist before forcing her fangs to protrude.
"Is this how you treat a pureblood? I could end you right now If I wanted to" Alice mumbled. The stranger remained silent and avoided her gaze. It seemed as though he harbored information he didn't want to share. Impatient, Alice impulsively bit into his neck- drinking his blood.
Within an instant she was fed his pitiful memories. She realized that they both shared a similar feeling of longing and unreciprocated love. With tears in her eyes, she backed away. Licking the last drop of his blood, she savored the taste and smirked sadly.
"So.. You're just like me. Aren't you?" Alice chuckled a bit before wiping her mouth clean.
"Madam, are you alright?"
Marcus hurriedly tended to her but she only shook him off. He noticed the tears in her eyes and backed away. She pointed towards the door and he knew exactly what she meant. Nodding, he walked over and gave them privacy.
"We were both used by the Kuran siblings.. disposed of.. " Alice clutched her chest and chuckled a bit.
Confused, the stranger attempted to break the chains but it only burned his skin. Flinching from the pain, he noticed the chains were made of silver and infused with a specific metal.
"Look," he panted.
"I don't know how you're connected to Kaname. But I need to leave. I have to meet-"
"Yuki?" She mumbled.
"Did she even love you?"
Those words pained his heart. He couldn't answer truthfully because he didn't even know if she did or not. But maybe somewhere deep inside, Yuki did love him a little. He remained silent.
"Zero Kiyru" mumbled Alice as she approached him once again. This time with a softer tone and gentle touch, she caressed his face and fixed his hair, confusing him.
"Don't you pity yourself? For loving someone who will never love you back?"
Zero couldn't look her in the eye. A mere stranger was calling him out on his feelings and yet she had the audacity to relate to him. He didn't know her relationship with Kaname, but just by connecting the dots it could be easily assumed that this stranger held him above herself.
"No, not really. Because I don't regret falling in love with her" he replied.
It was true. Despite the heartbreak and the pain of losing Yuki to Kaname, he never once regretted their meeting or their shared moments. In fact, it was something that kept him going- keeping his promise.
Alice let out a laugh in disbelief before wiping her tears. She couldn't believe it. Everyone loved Yuki no matter what she did. But there was something Zero and her both had in common. No matter what they did, they'd both carry the pain of never being able to be loved by another.
"Then, I have something to propose," she said with a smirk. This caught Zero's attention.
"We must find solace in the sorrow we share somehow right?"
She carefully caressed his cheek and brought her finger down toward his chin. Confused, he shook his head away from her fingers.
"To pay her debts, you are to be my comfort"
Zero's eyes widened. He couldn't understand what the stranger was trying to achieve.
"You need to stay alive to kill her right?" Alice questioned.
"Yes but I can do that alone. I don't need-"
"You won't survive on those pills for long." she interrupted. She had looked through his belongings and found an old pack of blood tablets given from his school.
"You need a supply of blood, don't you? I can provide you with my blood. A pureblood with its finest qualities. In return, you assist me in killing Kaname "
Zero wasn't going to take it. It wasn't like him to work in teams or take any deals from a stranger. But he knew that at the stage he was in, it would be harder to control himself. He thought about it for a moment but remembered the exact reason why he was a vampire in the first place.
"No. I won't take any deals from a pureblood!" he shouted. Suddenly his urge for blood spiked and he began to lose control. Strangling through the chains, Zero screamed as the pain he felt traveled through his whole body and his stomach growled. Unamused, Alice sighed before moving her hair from her left shoulder to her right, exposing her neck.
"Your suffering could end easily if only you had a supply of blood right? Take me." she muttered as she angled her neck for Zero. She knew his instincts wanted it.
Zero fought against his vampiric desires for several moments before eventually succumbing to it. He didn't want to fall into the hands of another pureblood, manipulated against his will, but his hatred for his own instincts struck deeper than anything. With tears in his eyes, he pierced his fangs into the dark haired woman and sank his teeth into her pale skin. As he began to suck the blood out her veins, an emotion rushed over his body. It was then that he finally realized why she was so persistent- they were two of a kind.
"Alice, My name is Alice" she mumbled.
