Spencer lifted the chair off the floor and threw it at the window in an attempt to break it. The window didn't even crack as the chair bounced back and collided with the floor.

"Don't you think I've tried that?" said Mona.

They were locked in together in their old bedroom. Garrett had moved them from the basement of their old foster home. Spencer went to the bookshelf and started throwing any objects she could find at the window. Then she tried pounding on it with her fist. Nothing. Not one crack appeared on the glass.

"Those windows are made of bulletproof glass. They won't break," said Mona who was curled up on the head of her bed.

Spencer groaned and put her hands on her hips. She began to pace around the room like a caged animal.

"I don't understand this," said Spencer. "Why is he doing this? What does he want with us? Why has he been so obsessed with me since the first day I moved into this hell hole?"

"He's crazy," said Mona.

"I don't know how much longer I can just stay like this."

"At least you know you have someone out there looking for you," said Mona.

That's when Toby's name popped into Spencer's brain.

"Oh my god," Spencer put both of her hands on her cheeks. "Toby it won't be long until he realizes where I am."

"See I told you."

No," Spencer shook her head. "This is bad. He's going to come here like a hero and get himself killed. This is exactly what I was afraid of!"

"Oh boo you!" Mona shouted. "Poor Spencer has her lover boy coming to her rescue and doesn't even realize how lucky she is to have an army coming for her! Meanwhile, I have been stuck in this dusty hole for three months! Three months and not one person has come for me! I don't have anyone looking for me!"

"Mona," Spencer recoiled. "What about Maya and Jake?"

"They threw me to Garrett to save themselves and ran."

"I thought you said he picked you up outside the prison."

"I said that was the last thing I remembered."

Suddenly, everything came back to Spencer. Every memory she had living in this house. She thought Mona had been her friend. She thought Mona had her back all this time, but now she's rethinking everything. It was Mona that got her hooked on drugs at such a young age. It was Mona that had convinced her that the foster parents would never believe that Garrett or Gary, or whoever this bitch is, they would never believe that he was a problem. It was Mona that convinced Spencer to leave this town and everyone in it behind. It was Mona that convinced her to leave Toby. Sure back then she gave Spencer a chance to stay with Toby. Now that she thinks back, was Mona really thinking about Spencer's best interest? This brings the question, why was Garrett so focused on Spencer out of all the girls in the home? Was Mona the one that staged her death? She could have taken her stuff and planted it in the woods behind Toby's house when Spencer was sharing her goodbye with Toby. But why? Why would she do all of this?

"You didn't tell me how you knew where I was locked up," said Spencer.

"What is with the third degree?" said Mona.

"Why did you make me leave Rosewood?"

"I didn't make you do anything! I gave you a choice. I told you if you wanted to stay you should stay."

"But you didn't want that. You've been manipulating me this whole time!"

"Spencer," Mona hopped off the bed. "That is crazy. I was your friend. I was your only friend."

"Toby was my friend."

"Barely. He didn't even notice what was going on with you while living in this house. How good of a friend could he have possibly been to you?"

Spencer looked Mona dead in her eyes. "Did you set up that scene in the woods so everyone would think I was dead?"

"You didn't want Toby to come looking for you."

"Oh my god," Spencer leaned against the dresser and started hyperventilating.

"You didn't want him to find you!" Mona yelled. "I did what I had to do you protect us all!"

"Why?" Spencer shouted. "I had it handled when I went to see Toby that night. He wouldn't have found us. How could you do that? All this time I thought you were helping me, but you've been manipulating me this entire time!"

"I did nothing but support you!"

"Support me?" Spencer questioned. "I need you to be honest with me Mona. Have you been working with Garrett this entire time?"

Mona didn't respond. Spencer took her silence as an answer. Her head began to spin again and she felt sick. Spencer wanted to cry but she was too mad to leak tears. Spencer could have stayed in Rosewood. She could have gone with Toby when he went to college. She's not sure what she would have done, but it would have been better than living out of a van with four other people. Mona manipulated her and all of these people to do what she wanted. She convinced everyone that they were all in danger and had no choice but to stick together. But why? Why had she done it?

"I can't believe you've been helping Garrett this whole time," Spencer walked over to the door and started banging on it.

"It's over!" She shouted out. "Let me out of here!"

"No, Spencer you've got it all wrong," said Mona. "I'm not helping Garrett." Her voice changed. Mona slowly picked up the lamp off the bedside table and cracked it over the top of Spencer's head. Spencer fell to the floor.

"He's been helping me."

Blackness: Then: Spencer woke up with a pounding headache. She tried to focus her eyes, but her vision was fuzzy. She could tell she was no longer in their room. The air feels colder. She figured Mona brought her back down to the basement where there are no windows and the walls are soundproof. Her vision came back to her and she could see Mona, Garrett, and Jenna standing together on the other side of the room. Her mind flashed with memories of betrayal.

Spencer tried to sit up but something was piercing her arm. A needle was hooked up to a vein in her left wrist. What is this? Nothing was coming through the tube yet, but Spencer could see that it was attached to a plasma bag. Only, she's guessing that it isn't plasma inside that bag. Were they planning on killing her by an injection? She's sitting in what looks like an old dentist's chair.

"Oh hi," Mona spoke up. Her usual cheery voice is what scared Spencer the most. "You're awake good. I was worried I hit you too hard that you wouldn't wake up again, but here you are!"

Spencer struggled to speak since her head was still pounding. Mona and Garrett crossed over to Spencer's side.

"How you doing little sis?" Spencer flinched when Garrett reached out to stroke her hair.

He chuckled and pulled back, "don't worry. It was never you, I'm interested in."

He crossed back over to the other side of the room to Jenna. Then he took her in his arms and gave her a tender kiss. Jenna pulled back with a smile.

"Oh, Garrett stop it. Not in front of the others."

Spencer steered her attention back to Mona who was setting up the plasma machine. Spencer could feel herself shaking already. What kind of drugs was Mona planning to use on her?

"Why?" Spencer asked her.

"You were my friend," said Mona. "I got tired of competing with that stupid boy. I had Garrett hit on you to make you think this place was a nightmare. I knew Garrett was leaving the house soon so I had to think of another way to keep you with me."

"You made up the story about running away being my only option to get out," said Spencer.

"See you are a smart girl." Mona patted Spencer on the head. "Just not when your head is being filled up with pot and cocaine."

"Forget about me," Spencer shouted. "What about Maya and Jake? You made Riley leave his family!"

"Actually, Riley was never really in our group. He was just a driver and he had no problem leaving his family when he was getting paid for a job."

"You twisted bitch," Spencer hissed.

"Ouch," said Mona. "Is that any way to talk to a person that has access to heroin?"

"What's your big plan now?" Spencer asked. "The police will be here any minute now. You're running out of time."

"I only need a few minutes to kill you," said Mona. "By the time the police get here they will be reading this suicide note you left here about how your life is all wrong and nothing you do will ever make things right."

Toby's car sped through the streets with his siren blaring. He had a backup on the way, but he wasn't sure if they'd get there in time. Caleb road in the passenger seat wearing a police vest and carrying a gun. He's not a cop, but he knew it would be stupid to let Toby do this on his own. Hanna, Aria, Emily, and Alison tried to keep up in their car behind them, but Toby was driving too fast. And unlike Toby, Emily made an effort to stop at red lights.

"This is officer Cavanaugh," Toby spoke into his com. "I'm less than a mile away from 22214 Brookfield Ave, are there any police officers near that area that can provide assistance?"

"Don't you think Gary will be listening to the police scanner?" asked Caleb.

"Not if he's too focused on Spencer."

"Are you sure this guy is behind this?"

"He has to be," said Toby.

Toby came to a screeching stop just outside the old foster home. All of the lights were off inside except for one upstairs. Toby rushed out of his cruiser and started running up the path.

"Wait!' Caleb shouted. "We should wait for backup!"

"I can't wait!" Toby shouted over his shoulder.

"Dammit." Caleb ran to catch up with him. Toby tore through the front door waving his gun around. He shined his flashlight over every square inch of the first floor. Caleb finally caught up waving his flashlight around. Caleb aimed his flashlight towards the stairs.

"Hey," Caleb gestured. "Up there?"

"Watch my back," said Toby as they slowly made their way up the stairs.

They creep up to the first floor and aim their lights at the one-lit room down the hall. Caleb watched his six as Toby took point down the hall. Toby waited for Caleb to take the left side while he stayed on the right. On three, the two men burst through the door to an empty bedroom. There is nothing but two beds, a dresser, some tables, and a broken lamp on the floor.

They lowered their guns. Toby sighed, "she's not here."

"Not in this room," said Caleb. "There are other rooms to look through."

"I'll check back downstairs for a basement," said Toby. "You stay up here and see if this place has a crawlspace and check the other rooms."

"Toby this house is too big for two guys to split up. We should wait for backup. They're only a few minutes out," said Caleb."

"The longer we wait the longer Spencer's at risk. You stay up here and I'll go down."

Meanwhile: Down in the basement where Spencer is being kept, Garrett and Jenna are stationed on both sides of the door with guns. Mona is by Spencer getting ready to inject her with the drugs when they heard them coming through the door. Spencer feared Toby coming down here because she knew that the second he walked through that door, he'd be dead.

"We could make this simple," said Mona. "Call him down here and it will all be over. I'll never have to compete with lover boy again."

Instead of speaking, Spencer shook her head. Even the slightest sound could alarm them to come down. She knew stalling was useless. She knew that Toby won't leave until he searched every inch of this house. If she could stall long enough to think of another way out or at least until some help arrived, then just maybe, just maybe, they will all make it out alive.

I bet you never thought you'd see me again. I'm finally back to wrapping this story up. Or maybe I will just leave you with another cliffhanger for four more years.
