Author's Note: Good lord. Has it been...six years!? Oh my god my guilt has utterly destroyed me as a human being. I promise this isn't going to be a six-year long project anymore. I will never let this happen again.

So, without prattling on for too long, let's get started on the fun?

Jerian Onihana was a man who was good at balancing his three different life styles.

On the one hand, he was a Pro-League duelist. He was skilled at his art and he knew his deck like the back of his hand, and knew every combo his deck could make, will make and should make. He'd been at this game for about three years now and from a rough start and humble beginnings, became a well-known name amongst the circuit. His fans loved him and his shtick: The Blind Samurai of Light. (It was his Manager/Adopted Father's idea, and it had a nice ring to it)

He was also a Shadowchaser. He was there to protect the people who knew nothing, and should know nothing, from the things that go bump in the night. Jerian took his job seriously with a vow to protect those who couldn't protect themselves. When things got bad, Jerian Onihana was right there alongside Damian, his adopted brother, and was quite ruthless at getting things DONE.

But ultimately, Jerian knew how to be a person as well. He knew that the world didn't revolve around either job, and effectively had a way to shut off the switch that belonged to that part of his brain. When he was out with his friends, his family, nothing else mattered.

So, before he needed to flick the switch into his Pro-league persona, there was plenty of time to be a normal, functioning person.

Jerian was a handsome man on the verge of turning thirty next year, with shock white-blonde hair that was currently tied in a tight knot behind his head. Normally, he was wearing something simple outside, a pair of jeans and a t-shirt with his favorite band, Megadeth (Funny, right?) and a pair of shades in front of his eyes. However, since he had to get into character soon, his attire was much more traditional. His current attire was a long samurai robe that hid much of his figure with a black sash going over the shoulder to his hip. A sword sheath dangled from his hip and a white sash wrapped tightly around his eyes.

The Blind Samurai of Light was an on the nose title after all.

At the exact moment, he was currently talking to someone on the phone, walking around the room quietly and carefully as he did. His lips curled back into a smile as he spoke calmly to the person on the other side of the phone.

"..far as I'm concerned, Ario does not have me scheduled for any future duels or the like, but you know how it can be. One day it's a clean week, the next it is packed. It honestly depends on Ario is feeling. I understand, I miss you as well, and the sooner I take care of this, the sooner I can see you again. It will be all the sweeter when I do, after all."

"I will see you soon. I lo-"

"JERIAN!"

The door was all but kicked open by a large boot and it took Jerian everything not to drop the phone in a moment of panic, hitting the hang up button as he did before he took a deep breath. The older man who stepped in with a wider than normal grin with Gunsmoke grey hair, hanging loosely around his head and wearing a very fancy business suit, with vibrant green eyes and holding something in his hands.

"Ario, you have a key. You can just walk in."

"Not when I have this to show you!" He grinned and held up what he was holding up.

There was an uncomfortable silence as Jerian slowly lifted his hand up and waved it in front of his eyes.

"Is it a cure for blindness? Because it does not seem to be working."

Arios's smile faltered for a moment before it popped back up and he held it up to Jerian's hands, pulling the box off and handing him the contents into his grip proper. "See! Erm, feel?"

Jerian took a moment to feel over every inch of the item for a moment, his lips curled down in a frown before it turned into a smile. "Is this what I believe it is?"

"It's your SIC-Figurine! That thing was not easy to get past Toei's board of directors either, especially given how well their Kamen Rider merch sells. So thankfully, ol' silver tongue over here managed to talk them into a limited-edition release of the Duel Masters Pro-League Duelists! This is yours! Amongst, well, twenty others they intend to release but a limited-edition model to be sure!"

"It is like you said." Jerian said with a more prominent grin on his own face. "You only make it when you have an action figure."

"Well, you're more along the lines of a collector's item, but we're one step closer!" Ario chuckled and plucked the figurine from his hands, putting it back safely in the box. "Soon as we get you your action figure, we're going to talk Voice Acting! I can so get you on the next big thing, just you watch!"

"Ario, remember. Nothing to impede on-"

"-Nothing to impede on your Shadowchaser duties, yeah." Ario rolled his eyes and flipped back into his recliner, putting his hands behind his head. "I know I know. Just hopeful thinking maybe you'll retire from that stick in the mud job."

"I am very sorry that saving the world is a stick in the mud to you. And besides, I would retire from Pro-Dueling before I retire from Shadowchasing."

"But Shadowchasing don't make me any money, Jerian!" Ario gave a loud, pathetic whine as he dropped dramatically on the chair. "Think of the fans! Think of the kids! THINK OF THE BANK STATEMENTS!"

Jerian gave a little laugh, which caused Ario to break his own overly dramatic act and laugh along with him. But then, his attitude shifted to a more serious one. "No, seriously Jerian, I like money."

"Well, hopefully by the end of my run when I am ready to hang up my title, I will leave you with the wealth you deserve, as equal to the wealth you have given me, father."

Ario paused for a moment. Ario, although not his blood father, did all but adopt Jerian when he was just a child, a child he found lying face down in the dirt with no one around for miles. Ario joked often, about how Jerian was his meal ticket. His big shot that was going to take him far.

And ultimately, thought of him more as his son than anything else.

Ario smiled and would have said something back when the PA kicked on in the room, causing both of them to look up.

"IT'S THE MOMENT YOU BEEN WAITING FOR EVERYONE! THE DUEL IS GOING TO COMMENCE IN FIVE MINUTES!"

"That's my cue." Jerian said mostly to himself and straightened himself out. He took a deep breath and held it for a moment, his hand slowly reaching down and gripping the handle of his sword. Then, faster than the normal eye could see, a flash of silver cut through the room and the sound of a clink of the sword resting back in the sheath followed swiftly. Jerian's facial expression changed and he nodded, his jaw set. "I am ready." He then walked out of the room.

Ario grinned and lifted up a can of soda, holding it up in a silent cheer for him. "That's my boy." He mumbled proudly and reached down to pick up the remote to watch the match from the TV. He held it up to see that he only held half of the remote in his grip, the other half remained on the counter.

Then, with a low clatter, the seat beside him suddenly fell apart in a mess of wood and seat filling.

"…Aw crap."

Ollie Ogden in many respects, was quite the opposite of Jerian Onihana.

Ollie was generally an awful person in the ring, and outside of the ring. He was the closest thing the current circuit had to a heel if anything, a title Ollie leaned into as hard as he could. He was a vicious duelist and often left the younger fans more traumatized than anything. It was difficult to know whether or not Ollie had always been a bad person, or if he was good and his villainous nature as a Pro-Leaguer rewrote anything that used to be Mr. Ogden.

But what may have been worse was how little Ollie actually cared about his vicious change of personality.

The older man with short black hair and an equally black goatee, wearing his black military uniform (known to the circuit as General Discourse), as he looked at his deck currently splayed out in front of him. His deck that had gotten him this far, so there was little need to change it.

But again, someone like Onihana…it couldn't hurt a little tinkering every once in a while.

So, he was using the final few moments before the duel to finish the tampering with his deck and when he finished, he smirked and fanned it out in front of him.

"Kid won't know what hit him."

His smirk vanished from his face when he heard a knock on his door. He looked over his shoulder and frowned at the door hopping up to his feet and walked over to it. He opened it aggressively and looked outside. "What do you want?" He snapped.

Nothing.

He frowned and looked around both sides of the hall before he gave an annoyed huff and shook his head. "Stupid fuckin' kids…" And began to shut the door.

However, he missed something entirely….

As he stood at his door, his back to his room, a figure slowly emerged from the wall beside his deck, wearing nothing more than a black robe that hid his face completely. The figure looked at the back of Ollie before it looked down at his deck. He held up his hand and in a swirl of black and grey energy, two cards appeared in his hands. He placed them on top of the deck and after a moment, the two cards slowly sank in like a rock in water…

Then, when Ollie spun around, he saw nothing. He walked over to his deck and pocketed it quickly, shrugging.

"IT'S THE MOMENT YOU BEEN WAITING FOR EVERYONE! THE DUEL IS GOING TO COMMENCE IN FIVE MINUTES!"

He looked up and grinned.

Time to take the title.

"GOOOOOOOOOOOD EVENING LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! MY NAME IS EDGAR FALLOS, AND WELCOME TO THE DUEL THAT EVERYONE HAS BEEN WAITING FOR!"

The stomping of the crowd in the audience was enough to rattle the rafters and the MC ate it all up, grinning and spinning the mic between his two fingers.

"WELL I'M JUST AS EXCITED AS YOU ALL, SO LET'S GET TO THE GOOD STUFF! IN THIS CORNER, ALL THE WAY FROM JAPAN ITSELF! THE WANDERING WARRIOR! THE BUSHIDO OF RIGHTEOUSNESS! THE BLIND SWORDSMAN OF LIGHT! EVERYONE! GIVE IT UP FOR THE ONE, THE ONLY…JERIAN ONIHANAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

The lights dimmed and the spotlight shot to one door on the side of the Stadium, and walking out was Jerian, his hand on his sword hilt and walking out stoically. It took everything in his power to not smile over the cheers that came from above him as he found his position on the front of the field.

"AND IN THIS CORNER, THE OPPONENT YOU ALL KNOW AND LOVE TO HATE! THE SARGENT OF SORROW! THE GENERAL OF GRIEF! THE COMMANDER OF CHAOS! LET'S HEAR IT FOR GENERAL DISCOURSE!"

The cheers turned to a strange combination of Boos and jeers, mixed with some cheers as Ollie stepped out of the other door, his face twisted into a wicked grin as he adjusted his hat and stepped into his own opposite side.

"NOW! EVERYONE! LET'S COUNT DOWN TO THE BIGGEST MATCH OF THE MONTH! THREE!"

"TWO!"

"ONE!"

"LET'S DUEL!"

(Jerian: 8000) - - - - - - - - (Ollie: 8000)

"Whooo!" Damian shouted with a laugh, lifting his bottle at the bar and clinking it with Fourteen's own. "Kick his ass, bro!"

"Ah, like Jerian really needs the luck, lad. Discourse's been in a slump all season! This'll just be the final nail in his coffin!"

"Yeah…" Damian chuckled and nodded his head. "This'll be an easy win for sure!"

"Come on Jerian! I got big money running on you!" Angua shouted at the screen after she swallowed a mouthful of the cheesy potatoes and pumping a fist in the air. "You better not let me down!"

"Miss Angua, is it not illegal to gamble? I find it very unbecoming of a police officer to break the law." Scraps asked, turning his attention to the officer in question.

Angua rolled her eyes and smiled. "It's a joke, Scraps. I don't actually have any money on this match."

Not much money anyway…She nervously thought to herself.

"I'll make the first move. Draw." Jerian swiped the top card of his deck away and added it to his hand. His hand hovered over three of them and plucked them away, sliding them all in. Three facedown cards appeared before him. "I set three cards facedown and end my turn."

"Starting off slow huh?" Ollie asked with a sneer as he swiped the card from the top of his deck and eyed it. "Well, first blood will go to me! I summon Beta The Magnet Warrior in attack mode!"

He placed the card down and in a flourish of light appeared one of the most well-known monsters of Yugi's deck appeared. Bright yellow and colorful, with halves of a magnet sticking out of the side of his head like they were antlers. (1700/1600)

Chuckling he pointed forward. "Your field is clear! Direct attack, Beta!"

The Magnet Warrior charged forward, electricity gathering in its hands…

"I activate the spell card, Hand Destruction." He gestured, one of the cards flipping up and facing Ollie. "Now we discard two cards, and then draw two new ones."

"But it doesn't stop the attack!" Ollie shouted, doing just that.

Jerian smirked. "I'm aware." He said, as the attack connected and sent him skidding back a little bit.

"AND FIRST BLOOD GOES TO GENERAL DISCOURSE EVERYONE! OH MAN, IT DOESN'T LOOK GOOD FOR THE BLIND SAMURAI!"

Jerian stood straighter and swung a hand down, causing a billowing ripple of wind (added by the SE folks upstairs) to clear the way back. "It'll take more than that to defeat justice, evil doer!"

The cheers erupted again and it caused Jerian to grin wider, while his friends and family watching could only roll their eyes.

(Jerian: 6300) - - - - - - - - (Ollie: 8000)

Ollie could only offer a sneer in return and held up two cards before sliding them in behind Beta. "I set two cards facedown, and end my turn!"

"Then let the show begin!" Jerian shouted as he swiped the card off the deck and, letting it linger in the air for a moment, smiled. "I summon…Bujin Yamato in attack mode!"

In a burst of lightning from the rafters, a human shaped set of armor appeared before him, bright crimson in color and filled with what could only be described as lightning formed the main body. The shape of the helmet, for whatever reason, brought someone specific to mind to some of the older members of the audience…(1800/200)

"AND THERE HE IS FOLKS! ONE OF JERIAN'S MOST WELL KNOWN CARDS, OUT IN ONLY HIS SECOND PLAY!"

"Bujin Yamato!" Cried Jerian, throwing a hand out. "Attack his Beta!"

Lightning suddenly flooded the monsters hands and it flew forward as quickly as that. His fists struck the Magnet Warrior and, as they hung in the air for a moment, Beta finally exploded into pixels.

"Then, to end my turn, I'll set one card facedown. And, during my end phase, Yamato's effect now activates!" To signify this, Yamato turned his attention to Jerian and held a hand out, as if granting him permission. Holding his hand out in front of his deck, a card shot out and he quickly grabbed it. "During my end phase, I'm allowed to take one Bujin monster from my deck and add it to my hand, so long as I discard another card to compensate for such!" He added the card to his hand, took another card on the opposite side and he threw it swiftly into the graveyard.

(Jerian: 6300) - - - - - - - - (Ollie: 7900)

"You think that's enough to scare me!?" Shouted Ollie as he angrily drew his card. "I'll show you something to be scared about…! I activate the field spell, Magnetic Field!"

The arena around them changed very swiftly and very drastically. Once they were in the middle of a massive stadium, now they stood in what appeared to be a lab, with a very large contraption in the middle, saddled with 3 Magnets on either side of it, pulsing and humming dully.

"Then, I normal summon my Delta, the Magnet Warrior!"

The Magnet Warrior that appeared in front of him was a bit more on the nose. Its features very blocky and arms/legs stick thin, with large portions of N/S magnets on his hands and feet. His head was triangular and had two thin eyes peeking out from under the helmet of a magnet it also wore. (1600/1400)

"Delta, when he's summoned, let's me discard one Magnet Warrior from my deck to my graveyard. So I'll do so with Gamma, the Electromagnet Warrior!" He plucked the card out as it appeared before him, and he threw it into the graveyard, before throwing his hand out again. "Then, I activate Magnetic Field's effect! Because I control a Level four Rock-Type monster, I can Special Summon a Magnet Warrior from my graveyard! And I'll do so with the Gamma I just sent there!"

The massive contraption in the middle began to hum and whir louder and louder, when suddenly pieces of metal flew in from seemingly nowhere, creating a blockier, more streamlined version of a magnet warrior, this one gunmetal grey with a small, stocky head. It crossed its arms in front of it. (800/2000)

Ollie's deck began to glow again, and he plucked the card out, holding it up. "When Gamma is Special Summoned, I'm allowed to Special Summon a Magnet Warrior from my deck to the field, so give it up for Beta, the Electromagnet Warrior in defense mode!"

The monster that appeared could only be described as Beta's evil twin. Its body was smaller and shorter to the ground, bright pink with no visible eyes and sharper looking Magnet Horns. It buzzed, crossing its arms in front of it. (1500/1500)

And then, for the third time that turn, his deck began to glow. "And when I Special Summon Beta, I can add a Magnet Warrior to my hand! And I'll do so with Alpha, the Electromagnet Warrior!" He held it up and chuckled, crossing his arms. "That'll be the end of this turn."

"Finally." Mumbled Jerian, as he pulled a card out and added it to his hand. "While my turn likely won't be as showy, it'll still get my point across! From my hand, I call…Bujin Mikazuchi in Attack position!"

Rather than lightning, this one appeared in a burst of bright blue and red fire. The armor was navy blue with yellow trim and white lines coursing through it, with its body seemingly made out of the flames used to summon it. As with Yamato, the helmet appeared to have a very familiar shape to the audience. (1900/500)

"Now, as I have two level four Bujin monsters on my field, I open the Overlay Network!" He gestured to the two monsters, who looked to the other, nodded and then transformed into two bright yellow balls of light that flew into the massive black hole that appeared in front of Jerian.

"Lightning striking from the heavens, call upon the might of a hero when it's desperately needed! XYZ Summon! Bujintei…Susanowo!"

The monster that appeared was nothing short of ferocious looking. It looked like Yamato but with several added features and add-ons, such as a massive sword in his right hand, a more ornate helmet, a large katana in his left hand and what appeared to be a pair of blazing wings on his back. (2400/1600)

"HE'S HERE LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! THE BLIND SAMURAI'S ACE CARD! WHEN HE'S SUMMONED, HIS VICTORY IS ALL BUT ASSURED!" The MC shouted excitedly from his podium box.

Ollie's not dumb, but neither am I. I know what Magnetic Field does. When I try to take on a Rock monster, if Susanowo's still on the field, he goes right back to my hand. But what he doesn't know is I discarded Buji Turtle back when I played Hand Destruction. It'll not only prevent my monster from returning, this should be over quick…

"Bujintei Susanowo! Attack Beta, the Electro- "

"I activate Threatening Roar!" Laughed Ollie as his trap card flipped up. "Your attack is canceled for this turn!"

Jerian was, understandably, confused.

He didn't…want me to attack? He thought. He shouldn't know I have Turtle…is he planning something else?

He looked at his hand and frowned. I don't like where this is going…

"I set one card facedown and-"

"And activate my Electromagnet Warrior's effects!" He laughed as he gestured, Beta and Gamma both began to twitch and spark before suddenly, they were pulled apart into separate parts. "By sacrificing both of them, during either players turn, I can Special Summon one Magnet Warrior from my deck! So I tribute Beta and Gamma…and summon Alpha, and Gamma, both in defense position!"

The floating parts of the Magnet Warriors snapped back into position, but in different forms. One was the gunmetal grey Magnet Warrior, with the magnet shield and the large broadsword. (1400/1700)

The other was the bright pink, winged Magnet Warrior with the rotund body and the balls for fists. It curled up, also in defense position. (1500/1800)

Frowning, Jerian waved his hand to officially end his turn.

"PERFECT!" Ollie cackled as he drew his card and looked at it for a split second before pulling another card off his hand and holding it up. "I summon Alpha, the Electromagnet Warrior!"

The tallest Magnet Warrior thus far appeared in front of him, towering over the others with a large double sided lance in his left hand a large shield with a red and blue motif and a pair of magnetic antlers on its head appeared. (1700/1100)

"When Alpha is summoned, I'm allowed to add one Magna Warrior from my deck and put it into my hand." He explained, grinning as he did. "And you heard that right. MAGNA Warrior, not MAGNET Warrior."

Another card was pulled out of his deck and he flipped one around, shouting, "Now, I activate Thunder Crash to blow up all of my monsters, and deal you three hundred points of damage! So take 1200 Points!"

He played the spell and the physical make-up of the four magnets suddenly turned into lightning. Shooting forward, they all struck Jerian in the chest, knocking him back and making him grunt.

(Jerian: 5100) - - - - - - - - (Ollie: 7900)

"You know what's better? When Delta is destroyed and sent to my graveyard, I can banish three Magnet Warriors from my Graveyard, like my Original Alpha, Beta and Gamma…and summon Valkyrion straight from my deck!"

The ghastly images of Alpha, Beta and Gamma appeared on the field and quickly broke apart into separate, floating pieces of their original selves. They floated for only a moment before they flew forth and snapped into place into a much larger creature that towered over Susanowo, it was equivalent to a Gundam than it was a cutesy little robot. The creature held up its massive sword triumphantly. (3500/3850)

"But we're not done yet kids!" Ollie cackled to the audience, spinning around with his hands up in the air. "I also choose to banish my Electromagnets in the Graveyard, Alpha, Beta and Gamma as well, to summon the monster THEY create!"

The ghastly images of the electromagnet trio appeared and like their counterparts, broke into separate pieces which quickly snapped into a much larger figure. Whereas Valkyrion was taller, and a little bit lither, this one was larger, wider and stockier. Gunmetal grey was its most prominent color and the massive, thrumming lance in its hand was a perfect offset to Valkyrion's sword. (3000/2800)

"Everyone, boys and girls, meet the Samurai's demise itself! Berserkion, the Electromagna Warrior!"

If Jerian was impressed, he refused to show it.

"But I bet you're wondering what's so impressive about this guy, huh, Samurai?" Grinned the opponent as he pulled a card from his graveyard and held it up triumphantly. "Well, when I banish a Magnet Warrior from my graveyard, Berserkion destroys a monster of my choice And I only have ONE!" He pointed his finger dramatically as Berserkion held up his sword as a bolt of lightning struck it, and flew down...

"IS THIS IT FOLKS!? COULD IT BE THE SAMURAI HAS LOST HIS VERY FIRST TOURNAMENT?!"

"Not by a long shot." Grinned Jerian as he held up a finger, and a glowing ball of yellow light shot out and jumped in front of the lightning bolt, absorbing it and revealing a small, yellow rabbit bouncing happily in the air. "Banishing Bujingi Hare prevents one of my Beast-Warriors from being destroyed by a card effect this turn. And assuming you have a way to return that Magnet Warrior back to your graveyard, you won't be able to do that."

Ollie's teeth ground against each other for a moment before he pointed forward. "They're still stronger than your monsters, you hack! So even if I can't destroy them with effects, they'll still fall this turn! Valkyrion, you first!"

Valkyrion brandished his sword and made a mad dash to the armored warrior, preparing to swing it down with all of its strength...

"I repeat, not by a long shot." Jerian calmly stated as he took a card from his hand and discarded it. In a flash of bright blue light, a crow made of blue and black armor and light appeared, holding a mirror in its beak. It held the mirror up, where the sword struck it. A massive "BOOM" filled the stadium, as Valkyrion reeled back from the attack and Susanowo was still standing, completely unharmed!

"Bujingi Crow negates the attack by discarding it." Jerian explained, as he gestured to the field. "In addition, you take damage equal to half of your monsters attack." A playful grin crossed his lips. "Suddenly, having big monsters doesn't seem like such a wise idea, huh?"

(Jerian: 5900) - - - - - - - - (Ollie: 6150)

Ollie's face turned such a shade of red that he would have made the most succulent tomato jealous. Stomping a foot, he shouted, "Berserkion! Finish it! Get that thing out of my sight!"

Berserkion's body filled with lightning, its eyes flashed red, and it made a dash similar to its brother, intending to stab it...

"Chain." Jerian called out. "From my graveyard, I banish, Bujingi Ox!" he exclaimed, as a flaming golden and red ox appeared before Susanowo, snorting flames and lightning. "By banishing Bujingi Ox from my graveyard, he may copy the effect of one of my Bujingi monsters in my graveyard, be it a Winged-Beast, or a Beast Type, so long as I banish it!"

It made Ollie's heart skip a beat.

"And I'm sure you remember what Bujingi Crow does, yes? Or has the hatred in your heart spread to your mind as well!?"

The same scene played out. The majestic crow appeared in a flash of light from the massive form of Ox, shrieked once, and held up its mirror almost proudly. The attack struck the mirror, sending Berserkion skidding backwards back to Ollie's field, and Susanowo untouched. Crow and Ox both crowed, and snorted, respectively, and vanished again

(Jerian: 5900) - - - - - - - - (Ollie: 4650)

The fans of Jerian erupted into cheers. Some of his cheering squad held up a detailed picture they'd drawn on a massive banner. Some of the younger fans were currently waving their play swords around in joy. Ollie's fans, limited as they were, were still notably vocal about the way this was going, some going as far as to scream that Jerian was cheating.

Jerian shook his head, but the smile never left his face. Some people would never be pleased.

"Is that all, evil doer?"

Ollie's hands clenched tightly, and his eyes narrowed.

This...pompous...ARROGANT...

"End...turn..."

"Wonderful." Jerian drew his card and wordlessly added it to his hand. "I'll simply activate Susanowo's ability. By removing one of his Overlay units, I'm allowed to add any Bujingi monster from my deck, to my hand."

The card shot out of the deck and with lightning like reflexes, he took it and added it to his hand. Then, he tapped on his graveyard, where a light began to glow from it and a figure exploded out. To the sound of thunderous galloping was a horse made of yellow energy, armor and... a massive sword for a head. It circled Susanowo loyally, leaving a trail of energy behind as it did.

"Then, I'll activate Bujingi Quillan's effect from my graveyard. Since I control a Beast-Warrior monster, I can banish it, and destroy one of your face-up monsters." He gestured broadly to the direction of Berserkion. "Be gone, foul villain!"

"God dammit I hate this roleplaying shit." Ollie snarled and pointed to his facedown card. "Activate Trap! Magnet Force!"

Quillan's gallop was ceased by ramming head first into a shimmering portal that surrounded Valkyrion. After a moment of shaking its head, Quillan vanished into pixels of light.

"Hm." Jerian didn't seem too nonplussed about it, instead running a hand over each of his cards. Then, nodding, he looked up and declared. An idea ran through his mind, and he gestured. "I activate the effect of my Bujingi Centipede from my graveyard."

In a flicker of light, a silver and blue centipede, as large as Susanowo was, appeared with a hiss, feelers clicking rapidly.

"By banishing him from the graveyard, I am permitted to destroy a Spell or Trap card on your side of the field. I choose to destroy the Magnetic Field!"

Hissing even louder, Centipede spit a flaming poison from its open mouth and hit the center of the field, where it corroded rapidly and returned the two of them into the dueling field.

Jerian grinned and gestured broadly. "My turn ends, foul villain!"

"Stupid, lousy, over acting...My turn! Draw!"

He snatched the top card of his deck and looked at it-

Badum.

"What...?" he asked, in genuine confusion. His eyes unhardened and his furious frown turned to genuine curiosity. "What the hell is this...I don't..."

Badum.

His eyes went a little wider, and his heart beat felt...odd. Off. Strange. Irregular.

Badum.

I don't...know where this came from...His mind went blank, like it was on auto pilot. But...this could be...how I win...

He added the card to his hand calmly, robotically, and gestured to the field. "Berserkion." he droned, listlessly. "Attack his monster."

Berserkion followed instruction immediately. It lunged, lightning crackling up its form as it swung its blade at Susanowo...

Ollie may have been acting strange to the point even Jerian was concerned, but it didn't get in the way of his dueling skills. He held up the card he got from Susanowo's effect the previous turn, and shouted, "Bujingi Crane, effect activate!" He discarded the card, where a flare of sparks erupted from his graveyard. A beautiful crane made of armor and golden energy appeared behind Susanowo, and spread its wings out wide.

"When I discard Bujingi Crane from my hand, my Susanwo's attack is doubled for the single battle!"

Crane vanished into pixels, which were quickly absorbed by Susanowo. Flexing a fist and exploding with energy, Susanowo went to meet the attack with his fists. His attack shot to 4800...

And delivered a wicked upper cut with an explosion of thunder behind it! The Magna Warrior stumbled back, crackling with overloaded energy and lightning...where it finally burst into pixels!

(Jerian: 5900) - - - - - - - - (Ollie: 2850)

"You'll need to try harder than that, Discourse!" Jerian shouted over the roar of the crowd. "You'll need more than just raw strength...you need heart! You need soul! You need the spirits of everyone around you!"

The cheer only exploded even louder.

"God, he's really hamming it up." Damian chuckled, as he nursed his drink slowly, shaking his head. "You'd think after a while you'd get bored of it."

"Consider this, lad: It's nice to play the hero without needing to worry about your life being literally on the line, eh?" Fourteen asked, eyes staying on the screen the whole time. "It's practically an escapist fantasy at this point."

"Still." Damian shrugged. "I'm kind of...curious about Discourse. He's normally so...you know, frothing at the mouth kind of angry. What's up with the whole..." He gestured to him non-committedly. "You know, robot act?"

"Existential crisis?" His friend offered unhelpfully. "Or maybe it's a midlife crisis."

They both shrugged, and went to get the attention of the Bar tender for a refill.

"Come on, Jerian, woo!" Angua shouted, banging her hand on the table in front of her and throwing a fist in the air. "Earn that paycheck baby, let's go! Take him out! I'm tired of the Discourse news!"

Scraps said nothing, his eyes focusing entirely on Discourse the whole time. His receptors were narrowing slowly, as if something was off about him...

When Discourse drew that card, there was a sudden spike in his mental readings...and then it just...stopped. And the readings on that card...

They're not...right...

"Berserkion's effect activates." Ollie announced, holding a hand up. "When he's destroyed in battle, I'm able to bring the Electromagna warriors that are banished, and return them to the field."

In three bolts of lightning, the three highly advanced Electromagna Warriors appeared, all kneeling down and holding their arms in front of their chests in an X formation. (0/2000) (1700/1100) (1500/1500)

"Main phase two..."

He's not attacking me with Valkyrion? Jerian blinked in surprised. The attack bonus from Crane only lasts for one battle...is he being cautious?

He pointed to the field and gestured to Alpha and Beta. "The monster I have in my hand is only a level two, but I can choose to summon it with one or two tributes. When I summon it with a tribute summon, it adds the levels of the monsters used in the tribute to itself."

What kind of monster is he talking about? Jerian wondered in genuine confusion; his lips curled up in a surprised frown. There's no Magnet Warrior that works like that...is it a Tuner of some kind?

He didn't realize how right he was.

"I tribute Alpha and Beta...and summon..."

Dark storm clouds began to build above the dueling field. Lightning struck, and thunder rumbled...

"...Dark Tuner...Storm Caller."

"Dark what!?" Jerian shouted.

"What did he just say!?" Fourteen asked, jumping to his feet.

"Dark Tuner!?" Damian echoed.

"What!?" Angua cried.

"Oh dear."

The two monsters vanished into balls of lightning that shot into the air, amidst the storm clouds. The lightning roiled and flashed constantly, until a massive bolt of lightning struck the very front of Ollie's field. Standing in the scorch mark was a gaunt, fiendish looking human, with dark purple skin, yellow eyes, six arms and each one holding a rod with a ball of lightning at the end. (0/0)

"Erm..." The announcer started after a moment's pause, as the general excitement of the audience seemed to ebb away. "Ladies and Gentlemen, I've never seen that kind of monster before, but whatever it is, I'm sure it'll be an amazing turn around!"

His tone betrayed how nervous he seemed.

Ollie's eyes took a darker shade as he gestured toward his odd-looking monster. "I subtract Storm Callers level from Gamma's level...to Dark Synchro Summon a monster with a negative level..."

"Negative levels?" Asked one of the audience goers, starting to lower his side of the Jerian banner and looking over at his friends. "That doesn't...seem right..."

"I've never heard of a card with negative levels!" Shouted the other banner holder. "Quit cheating, Discourse! Just lose like a man already!"

"Synchro..."

Storm Caller began to chant and shake his strange rattles, culminating in him holding his hands up and exploding into eight azure balls of light. They quickly began to circle around Gamma, like a moon in orbit, and for a moment, even the little robot looked very confused...

So, it was quite a surprise for the rest of the audience when the stars forced themselves into Gamma, and based on the noise that sounded almost too similar to a scream, it wasn't a pleasant experience. Gamma struggled as its body turned into a yellow outline, where the eight stars could be seen...

Finally, after a moment, the pain mercilessly passed and Gamma exploded into five crackling stars, which began to spin around rapidly.

"When Shadows are devoured by even darker shadows, the curtain pulls back and... reveals...a world...without light!"

"Strike terror into the unworthy! Hear the rumble of thunder, and know your end is arriving as swift as a bolt of lightning!"

"Dark Synchro Summon...Raijin, Plight of the Sky!"

The stars finished their spinning and finally created something to behold. A massive, towering red skinned demon floated on a storm cloud in front of Ollie, surrounded by a ring of drums that hovered over it. It held two sticks in its hands, as the drums rumbled, thunder followed soon after. A snarling mask of white bone sat on its face as it stared Jerian down, frightfully. In front of the red skinned demon was a large drum as big as he was. (2500/2000)

The audience quickly turned to silent, confused murmurings of doubt to full blown mild panic...

Panic that became much more justified as a bolt of lightning struck from the storm clouds above and hit a chair in a thankfully empty seat! The seat exploded violently, and the surrounding fans screamed and scrambled away.

Oh no. Oh no. Jerian thought as he grits his teeth and took a step back. Okay. Don't panic. Think calmly.

Inhale.

Exhale.

"Ario." Jerian whispered into a microphone in his robe collar, bringing it closer to his mouth. "Work with security and get everyone out of here now. I don't know how and I don't know why, but the monster this guy just summoned is real deal dangerous."

"On it, kid." And the feed cut out.

Moments later, the doors were thrown open and the people began to stampede out, aided by security personnel and Ario guiding them out as quickly as possible. Soon, the only things left in the audience were Ollie, Jerian...

And the Announcer.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I CANNOT BEGIN TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE FEAR I FEEL AT THIS EXACT MOMENT BUT I WILL BE DAMNED IF I SIT AROUND AND DON'T INFORM YOU AS IT HAPPENS! WHETHER IT'S SOME KIND OF SPECIAL EFFECTS GONE WRONG OR IF THIS IS SOME KIND OF MAGICAL INSANITY, BUT I AM HERE TO KEEP EVERYONE AT HOME INFORMED!"

"I can assure you sir," Jerian shouted over the rumble of the thunder. "Nothing to be of concern out here. It would seem as though that..."

Jerian paused.

"Ollie has...succumbed even further...to the darkness... but I will be the one to purge it...because the swordsman of light sees the good in everyone!"

"ANOTHER STUNNING EXAMPLE OF HIS PURITY, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! THIS IS WHY THE SWORDSMAN OF LIGHT IS EVERYONE'S FAVORITE HERO!"

"I don't know how you summoned that monster, Discourse." Jerian announced loudly, his lips curling into a deep frown. "But I'm not letting you keep it."

Ollie grinned. "You can try. I end my turn by activating Raijin's effect. All of my face up monsters gains a Maelstrom Counter."

Holding up both of the drum sticks, Raijin slammed them onto the massive drum before him and worked up a quick beat, finishing it with a final crash of both sticks. Lightning struck both of the monsters and ended with a ring of lightning around both of them.

Okay, no need to panic. Jerian thought to himself, drawing his card slowly and looking at it. The Dark Synchro's were dangerous but they weren't invincible.

...Well except for Hundred Eyes, but he was a negative eight level, this thing is negative five. It's dangerous, but if Yusei and the others could handle it, so can I. Only problem is...

I have no idea what this thing can do.

"I activate Susanowo's effect, by removing the final overlay unit from him, I can take another Bujin card from my hand." He explained, as the final little orb surrounding his XYZ monster vanished, and a card was added to Jerian's hand. "Now I'll special Summon it. This one is far more powerful so it needs a cost. I'll banish Bujin Crane in order to summon Bujin Hirume!"

Crow vanished from his graveyard, and in a flash of light a new Bujin monster appeared, Silver and white armor surrounding yellow and gold energy, but the armor was more dress like, with "hair" that stretched to its lower back. (2000/1000)

Holding up another card, Jerian continued. "Since I banished Bujin Crow from my graveyard, I can Special Summon Bujin Arasuda in defense mode!"

Another ball of light appeared on his field, also curled up in defense mode. Gold and yellow armor surrounding a formless being of light, it held it arms up in a defensive position. (1600/1900)

"And with that said and done, I shall open the Overlay Network a second time!"

Both of the monsters quickly vanished into balls of light that were swiftly absorbed into the swirling vortex that appeared in front of the dueling field, and in a blinding flash of yellow light, a new warrior appeared beside Susanowo. Ornate yellow armor, a sizable sword in its right hand, a shield in its left, and a flare of "wings" behind it, spreading out a good two to three feet to the sides. It curled up in defense mode, holding the shield up. (1800/2300)

"Bujintei Tsukuyomi, I bestow upon you your effect! By removing an Overlay unit, I'm allowed to discard the remainder of my hand, and draw two cards!"

He took the final card in his hand and slipped it into the discard pile, then drew an additional two cards. Looking at it, he nodded then gestured.

"Then from my graveyard, I banish Bujingi Boar, which allows me to target your monster, change it to defense mode, and reduce its defense to zero!"

A ghostly image of a boar, made of blue energy and red armor, with absolutely massive tusks appeared in front of her. Snorting loudly, it began to charge wildly forward towards Valkyrion, striking it in the knees and causing the mighty titan to topple over onto its side. It barely was able to hold itself up, as its defense tumbled down to zero.

"Susanowo! Attack Valkyrion!"

Spinning the sword in its grasp, Susanowo charged forward, lightning crackling from its hand...

Suddenly, Ollie grinned. "Maelstrom Counter effect activate."

"What!?"

The band of lightning around Valkyrion suddenly turned bright red and expanded outwards in a massive explosion! Susanowo was caught in the explosion, its sword shattered, and it followed soon after.

The explosion continued to travel onwards, and struck Jerian, who cried out and stumbled back, falling to his back from the sheer backlash of power.

"When you're foolish enough to attack a monster with a Maelstrom Counter, I can remove that Counter from him, destroy the attacking monster, and deal you damage equal to half of its attack power!"

(Jerian: 4700) - - - - - - - - (Ollie: 2850)

"Well, that...raises...problems..." He coughed quietly, picking himself up with a grunt.

Looking at the remaining two cards in his hand, he winced and stood a bit straighter. "I end my turn."

"Draw." Ollie said, his tone turning darker, deeper, more reverbed as the power coursed through him. He didn't even bother looking at it, instead pointing forward with a wicked smirk on his face as Valkyrion rose to his feet, hovering with its massive magnet wings. "Raijin, destroy his monster." Then, pointing upwards to the sky. "And I'll expend the counter."

Raijin began beat his drums slowly, picking up in tempo and ferocity until lightning began to bounce off of them with each smack of a drum. Finally, with one final slam into the main drum in front of it, a dark red bolt of lightning shot forward and struck Tsukuyomi. Somehow, despite being energy, it screamed loudly, glitching out under the power of the lightning. Finally, it exploded violently, sending Jerian skidding back but unlike last time, he managed to keep his footing this time around. He did need to hold his arms up to block most of the debris from striking him in the face, however.

"Dammit..." The Samurai hissed, then gestured. "I activate Tsukuyomi's second effect! Since it was destroyed with Overlay units on it, I'm allowed to Special Summon a Beast Warrior Bujin monsters from my graveyard, and I'll Special Summon Bujin Yamato!"

In another flash of light, Yamato appeared kneeling in defense position. (1800/200)

Grinning, Ollie shook his head. "It's not going to save you. Valkyrion, attack Yamato!"

The massive magnet warrior charged forward, lifting its sword up and preparing to swing it at the Beast Warrior. The attack connected, sending the pieces of Yamato scattering to the air before Jerian.

"THIS ISN'T LOOKING GOOD FOLKS!" Fallos shouted from his position behind the rubble, looking over when it was safe to do so and adjusting his sunglasses. "DISCOURSE HAS A PRETTY SOLID FIELD AND IN THE SPAN OF A SINGLE TURN, THE BLIND SWORDSMAN HAS LOST HIS BEST MONSTERS! IS THIS THE END OF HIS CAREER!?"

Another bolt of lightning struck the sky and struck the ground near him, and he yelped in panic.

"AND MY LIFE!?"

"I activate the effect of my Bujingi Pavo in my hand!" Jerian announced loudly, as a flaring dark purple bird appeared behind him with a shriek. "By discarding it once my Bujin monster is destroyed by battle, I can Special Summon a Bujin monster from my deck, so I summon Bujin Mahitotsu!"

In another flash of light, a brand-new figure appeared in front of him. While the others had passing glances similarities to people living or dead, there was no doubt this one was based on someone real: Maxamillion Pegasus. His armor was mostly red like his coat, his "helmet" was long and silver, and even his left eye was a glowing orb of light. (0/1800)

I have one chance to win this. Jerian thought to himself, as he steadied his breathing and calmed his hammering heart. It depends on what I draw next. I can't defeat him by going after his monsters...

As if to hammer the point home, Ollie gestured, as the rings of lightning appeared around Valkryion and Raijin, refreshing the counter.

I have no spell combinations that can defeat them either...So...

His thumb gently caressed one of the cards in his hand and he nodded.

I'll need to go for him directly!

"Draw!" Jerian shouted, drawing his card, then felt it for a moment.

He smirked.

"I discard Bujingi Peacock from my hand to activate Mahitotsu's effect, by discarding another Bujin monster from my hand, I can add another monster from my graveyard. So, I'll add, and then summon, Bujin Yamato!"

Again, beside the kneeling beast warrior, Yamato appeared, standing more proudly than before. (1800/200)

"And now, for the final time, I open the Overlay Network!"

For the third time that duel, the two orbs of light flew into the black hole, where the explosion was notably more...intense. Standing at least a few feet taller than even Susanowo and Tsukuyomi, the armor was bright, blazing blue and the energy inside a white-hot white. Its left arm held a massive, shimmering mirror shield, a sword in its right, and blazing flaming wings spreading out behind it.

"Burning bright, blazing forward, Xyz Summon, Bujintei Kagutsuchi!" (2500/2000)

Ollie chuckled, flashing a malicious, almost fang lined grin. "It's not even strong enough to beat Raijin. Not like it could."

"One would certainly think so." Jerian agreed, as he reached down and grabbed the top cards of his deck, fanning them out. "But Kagutsuchi's true strength comes from his effect. I can discard the top five cards of my deck to the graveyard, and for each Bujin card among them, he gains 100 Attack Points."

It'll all come down to this...please... please...

He flipped the cards around. Bujingi Warg, Bujingi Sinyou, Bujingi Wolf, Bujincarnation, and Pot of Avarice. He sighed quietly, as Kagutusuchi's attack rose to 2900.

"He could have ten THOUSAND attack points; you know what'll happen if he attacks either one of my monsters." Ollie sneered, chuckling darkly. "Just admit it, Swordsman. There's nothing you can do to beat Raijin in battle."

"While I do agree on being unable to defeat Raijin in a full-on battle, there are multiple ways I could handle his presence alone." He felt the cards in his hand, reading the bumps. "And while I don't have many, I do have one in my hand. So, I agree with you, Ollie. I can't handle your monster in head-to-head combat."

Raijin laughed tauntingly, whacking his drum sticks together and causing a crash of thunder to rumble each time he did.

"So, I won't. And I'll handle YOU directly. I discard Bujingi Ophidian."

Behind Kagutsutchi, a long, dragon like Bujin monster appeared, shrieking before its entire body curled around the large Bujintei monster, its essence being absorbed into it. Kagutusuchi flexed its muscled and exploded into even brighter fire, nearly blinding all those present.

Jerian was not unaware of the irony.

"By discard Ophidian, my Beast-Warrior Bujin monster is allowed to bypass your monsters and attack you directly!"

Ollie's eyes went wide and the cards he held fell from his hand to his feet. Kagusutchi braced himself, as the flames on the back of his armor erupted like jet fuel...

"Kagutsuchi, put an end to this nightmare! Attack him directly!"

The large Beast Warrior was already gone, leaving behind only a burning light trail behind him in his wake. It shot past Raijin and Valkyrion, and the figure returned to form in front of Ollie. He barely had a chance to get one word out-

"WAIT-"

WHAM! The massive fist connected with his chest, Ollie's eyes bugged and he was launched a few feet into the air, spittle flying from his mouth as the holographic images of his monsters flickered-

To those with a keen eye, Raijin took a moment longer than the others to fade away, and its attention turned to Jerian. An annoyed glare that slowly turned into a vile sneer, almost one of excitement-

And then Ollie hit the ground, his duel disk turned off, and all was silent as the thunder and lightning slowly ceased.

(Jerian: 4700) - - - - - - - - (Ollie: 0)

Everything was silent, which was music to Jerian's ears. His head snapped in the direction of Fallos, who had braved the literal storm to look over the wreckage he had been cowering behind.

Jerian smiled and nodded.

"TRULY, ONE OF THE GREATEST DUELS I'VE EVER LAID EYES ON FOLKS! FROM THE GRASP OF DEFEAT TO ENSURE THE VERY, VERY SCARY CARD THAT HAD BEEN DESTROYING THE STADIUM WOULD BE BROUGHT DOWN! THE WINNER IN BOTH THE DUEL AND MY HEART, JERIAN ONIHANA THE BLIND SAMURAI OF LIGHT!"

As Fallos' expressed Jerian's praise, Jerian rushed over to the downed body of Ollie and immediately pressed his fingers to the side of his neck. Pausing and praying, he sighed when he felt a pulse under his fingertips and Ollie groaned as a result, his face contorting in pain as he grit his teeth. "Ah...ah...!" He whimpered pathetically.

Looking down at his duel disk, Jerian grabbed the dark bordered Raijin and felt it-almost immediately regretting it when he did. It felt cold. It felt evil. It felt wrong.

I don't think so, boy.

The voice rumbled in his head, and Jerian swiftly released his grasp of the card-moments before it burned away into a black and blue flame that swallowed it as quickly as it appeared. Jerian knelt there for a moment over the still form of Ollie, mind racing a thousand miles an hour.

What is happening...?

Mack looked back at the two empty spots at the bar where his two best patrons were just moments ago. In their stead, a piece of paper with hastily written "SORRY MACK PUT ON TAB".

Mack sighed, but did just that.

"I don't care, Bertrand! I need names and I need them YESTERDAY!" Angua snarled as she paced in the living room, having lost the ability to sit down since the moment Raijin appeared on the field. Both hands held a cell phone in them, which she was bouncing between the two of them, angrily shouting to a "Bertrand" and a "Calvin", whoever those two were.

Scraps took it upon himself to plug into the wall through the Ethernet cable and attempt to find any kind of information. It wasn't exactly a wide area he could cover with his, admittedly, shortcomings of hobbled together computer pieces but it could possibly strike gold if he tried hard enough.

The door opened moments later, this time by Damian who was currently busy on his own cell phone, frowning as he did. "Come on, come on, out of all the times for you to be out, you choose now, Shichiro!? You guys ran into this exact problem a bit ago, I could use some ASSISTANCE!"

"Where the hell have you been!?" Angua snapped, putting both phones down away from her mouth, her anger through her teeth evident. "I have been trying to call everyone I could get my hands on-"

"And I haven't!? Excuse me if I've been trying to get in contact with the Neo Domino branch, you know, Shichiro's team? They handled Dark Synchro's not too long ago, I'm trying to see if they can give me something to work with here-"

"And where is Fourteen!? He said he was going to be going to the bar all day, why's he here-"

"He went to go find some kind of lead-"

"Ah good, I was worried the Los Angeles Shadowchasers would be able to handle this situation on their own."

Both of them paused and turned to Jerian now standing in the doorway, his eyebrow cocked in curiosity. "Are you two...okay?"

"Are WE Okay?" Damian asked, hanging his phone up and stuffing it in his pocket. "Are YOU? You just got done fighting a Dark Synchro, are you-"

"I'm quite fine. In case you forgotten, Damian, there's a lot more here than meets the eye." Jerian chuckled. "A bit sore but nothing I can't handle. It's the broader picture I'm more concerned about." He tilted his head. "Do we have any leads?"

"I'm calling some of the guys at the office about any leads they may have?" Angua spoke up, holding her phones up still and frowning. "They're Awares but they're still on the force, so I hope they can do something."

"Fourteen ran off to do a little investigation of his own, and I'm trying to get in contact with the Neo Domino Branch."

"And I assume nothing, on both fronts?"

"Unfortunately." Angua and Damian sighed in defeat.

"I suppose if there is one thing to take into consideration for this, it is this seems to be the only incident about the city." Jerian frowned, crossing his arms. "But that doesn't mean it'll be the only one. It just means it's more localized. That gives us some time to at least find anything out."

There was silence as the three of them wracked their minds. Thankfully, the one with the fastest mind spoke up, as his visors turned sunset orange to data green again, Scraps turned over to the other three."

"I believe I may have some kind of lead."
