One rule I should mention before we continue, only one child per parent unless they're twins. In other words, Freddie and CJ don't exist in this series. On with the show
"You guys didn't go out to eat much on the island did you?" Ben asked as the kids stuffed their faces full of food.
"We liked to, but the food back home isn't exactly-" Mal began.
"It sucks." Jay says with a mouth full of food.
"Don't talk with your mouth full Jay." Evie said quietly.
"It's all leftovers and rotten food thrown out here." Mal explained to him.
"Oh my God, really?" Ben asked concerned.
"And fish. So much fish." Carlos added,
"I never realized it was that bad on the Isle."
"That isn't the half of it. But we won't bore you with the details." Mal said putting another fry in her mouth, her eyes going wide at the taste. Ben was still in shock about what he just heard. He couldn't believe that his parents never told him this. Now, he was more determined to get more children off the Isle.
"Why don't you tell me about yourselves? How'd you guys all meet?" Ben asked changing the subject.
"Well, I've known Jay forever." Mal began.
"We've taken the same route to school since we were kids and our parents are old friends." Jay explained.
"Friends is a strong term." Mal said. "More like partners in crime."
"So that's what our relationship is?" Jay joked.
"Pretty much, yeah."
"I was really popular on the Isle even when I was a kid." Evie said beginning her tale. "When I was six, I had a huge party and invited everyone on our side of the island."
"Except for me." Mal interjected.
"My mom, Queen Grimhilde wanted to challenge Mal's mom for power, huge mistake by the way. She scared my mom so much, we stayed in our house and avoided her territory for ten years until about a month ago when she enrolled me in their school and we became friends." She finished.
"You mean after I wanted to kill you?" Mal asked.
"Details, details." Evie said.
"Guess I'm next." Carlos said a bit uncertain, but still going on. "I knew Mal and Jay for a while, but we weren't exactly friends. They actually would pick on me alot since I was a nerd I guess."
"You still are." Jay interrupted.
"Thanks. Long story short, Mal's mom sent her on a really weird adventure and she decided to bring Jay, Evie, and I. Now we're all stuck like glue."
"Almost dying together will do that to you." Jay added.
"Well, you definitely seem like you really trust each other." Ben said after all of their stories. Evie elbowed Carlos under the table. He looked at her and then realized why she hit him. "We you all excuse me for just a minute?" He asked getting up from the table.
"You hear that Carlos? Ben says we seem like we really trust each other." Evie said rather loudly.
"I get it." He said annoyed.
"What are you two talking about?" Mal asked turning to them.
"Well, I never said anything since we were on the Isle before, but we're Auradon now, so I feel better about telling you guys. I'm gay." He told them.
"Yeah, Carlos, we know." Mal told him.
"You do?" He asked.
"Were we supposed to think you were straight?" Jay asked.
"Um, yes." Carlos said.
"Well, you weren't any good at it." Jay stated.
"Sorry about that, long line. Are you guys about ready to go?" Ben asked returning to the table.
"Are you gonna finish that?" Jay asked Evie pointing to her burger.
"Does it matter what I say?"
"Not really." He said, half the burger already in his mouth.
"Yep, we're ready." Mal told him. The five of them walked out of the restaurant and returned to the limo that brought them here. "Do people in Auradon take limos everywhere?"
"No, they're reserved for special occasions." Ben explained to her.
"And this counts?" She asked,
"I want to make a good impression." He said as they each climbed inside.
"I never food could taste so good." Jay said laying on his bed.
"I ate too much, I think I'm going to explode." Carlos said from his own bed. "One downside in Auradon so far is having to a be a certain age to drink."
"Wanted Blackout Carlos to come play?" Jay said with a laugh.
"Just wanted to see what Auradon beer was like." Carlos told him.
"I hope I can afford a limo one day." Evie said walking in.
"And I hope you get over this dumb crush of yours." Mal said with a groan.
"I'm just thinking, it'd be a great way to get some more kids off the Isle." She told her.
"Not sure I want certain...friends of ours in Auradon." Mal said sitting down on her bed.
"Don't worry, they're not coming. There's no way Ben's parents would let her out." Evie said reassuring her.
"Hey, do you know where I put my pen?" Mal asked, going through her bag.
"Which one? You have alot."
"The green one with the dragon design on it. I thought I put it in here."
"I haven't seen it. You sure you took it with you when we left?"
"I'm positive E. I used it in class earlier." Mal said getting annoyed.
"Well, I didn't take it. It's way too gaudy for me to use." Evie said flipping her hair back.
"Why do hate my pen?"
"Ben took you guys to Happy Hound? Dude, I've wanted to go back for awhile." Chad said as he, Carlos and Lonnie walked out of their class together.
"It was really good. Way better than anything back home." Carlos said.
"What kind of food did you eat back on the Isle?" Lonnie asked.
"Nothing good. Let's leave it at that." Carlos told them.
"Hey Carlos, do you wanna eat with us later?" Chad asked.
"I'd like to, but I really should eat with my friends."
"Come on, I'm sure they'll understand." Lonnie pressed on.
"Uh, yeah sure. I'll just tell them I have plans." He said, caving in to them.
"Are you stalking me?" Evie asked, the boy in glasses across the hall.
"Technically, yes." He admitted. "I'm Doug,"
"Evie, Queen Grimhilde's daughter." She said doing a curtsy.
"Your mom doesn't have any royal status here." He told her. "But you sure do look like a princess, then again, every girl in Auradon does."
"Shame not every guy looks like a prince." She said.
"That was harsh."
"Sorry,"
"Hey, we have chemistry together. You looked really confused, would you maybe want some help?" He asked.
"Are you offering to be like, my tutor?" She asked.
"Yes, and asking you out?" He replied. Evie smiled before she walked off down the hall.
Mal was about to leave her locker when a girl passing by, tripped and dropped some of her stuff. Mal out of instinct, turned the other way before she remembered she was in Auradon now and decided to help to avoid suspicion. "Um, thanks." The girl replied shyly.
"No big deal," Mal responded.
"Y-you're one of the new students. From the Isle right?"
"Yep, The name's-"
"Mal! I was just looking for you." Ben said, approaching the scene. "Oh, I see you've met Jane. Jane, this is Mal from the Isle. Mal, this is Jane. Ms. Paxson's daughter."
"Is she now?" Mal asked, intrigued. "Wait, you were looking for me?"
"I just wanted to check up on all of you since last night."
"Oh, I'm fine. Thanks again for dinner." She told him.
You know, you're really talented." He said taking a look at the spray-paint on her locker. "You should really take the art off the locker and into art class."
"Now where's the fun in that?" She asked before walking off.
"For a prince, he sure is gullible." Jay said holding out a pair of golden cufflinks.
"Did you get those from Aziz?" Evie asked. "They're so pretty." She said, looking at them.
"If you keep this up, people will catch on eventually. That'll be it for all of us." Mal told him.
"You're just jealous that I'm still better at this than you." He teased.
"Ok pause, rewind, and play. When were you ever better than me?" She asked, getting annoyed.
"Ever since I learned how to steal." He said smugly.
"Wanna bet? I bet that by that I can out-steal you."
"There's the old Mal," He said with a grin. "You're on." He said as they shook hands on it.
"Have either of you seen Carlos yet? He's usually here by now." Evie sounded slightly worried. They all agreed to try to stick together and they haven't seen him since that morning. Almost on cue, Carlos emerged from inside the building having a laugh with Chad and Lonnie. "Nevermind, I found him." She said annoyed.
Carlos saw his friends sitting together and jogged over to them. "Hey guys, I'm gonna eat lunch with Carlos and Lonnie today. That cool?" He asked.
"Fine, whatever." Mal said waving him away. "That did not take long to lose him." She said morbidly.
"Hey now, it's Carlos. He's the smart one remember?" Jay reminded them. "He's probably playing them for something." He said with optimism.
"And keeping us out of the loop?" Evie asked.
"Makes it more convincing?" Jay even questioned himself.
"Attention everyone!" Audrey announced to the lunch area. "Cheerleading tryouts will be held today after school out on the football field. And remember anyone can tryout so I hope to see alot of you out there." Said with a smile before leaving.
"Evie, don't even think about it." Mal told her.
"Come on Mal, it's not going to kill you." She pleaded.
"I'm not gonna stop you from trying out, but you won't catch me dead out there." She said in all seriousness.
"Fine, suit yourself."
"Were you going to try out Lonnie?" Carlos asked.
"No way. I'd rather be playing the sports myself." She said, taking a bite of her lunch.
"She was kind of a tomboy growing up and it's never really left her." Chad told him. "Oh hey, tomorrow, they'll be having football tryout once the cheerleaders are done. Am I gonna see you there?"
"Oh no, I'm not a sports person at all. Jay will probably be there though." He said before looking back at his old friends to see them all talking to each other. They're doing fine without me there. It's not so bad meeting new people after all. Even if they are from Auradon. I just hope me and Chad get closer soon.
