Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Sovereign of Souls Enjoy the 2000-word chapter. I don't own Gunvolt, Inti Creates and a few others do.

If Lucas didn't trust Elise before? Her behavior CERTAINLY wasn't helping her now. He sighed, unsure of what to do when it came down to his plans. He had no such plans, not yet… If he had? He probably would have done something about it.

"Your far too quiet for my liking," Elise stated before she rolled her eyes. "Say something, or are you too quiet to even try and say anything like this," Elise added as she shook her head.

Lucas ignored the jab; he had started to get used to her behavior. She constantly wanted to dig under his skin. She was just trying to get a rise out of him like everyone seemed to be doing. It was simply what he had gotten used to… Or was getting used to it. Elise almost seemed to feed on pain and negative emotion, he wouldn't put it past her considering how her powers worked.

He turned to look at the adapt, she had a slasher-like smirk that threw him off when it came down to it. Lucas sighed and went flying up into the inner recesses of this factory. There was plenty of time for him to leave… But if he did that? Lucas knew he'd be condemning the entire world to Elise's rampage.

'She'd turn the entire planet into her army of slaves. Does she hate the entire planet to be willing to damn it like that?' Lucas thought to himself, unsure of what to say or do to stop her.

'There's got to be some sort of files on this place. I'll stay down here in the destroyed section.' Lucas thought to himself as he sighed to himself.

He spread his wings just as Elise climbed onto the platform he occupied. He flew upwards, seeking sanctuary and answers above him. If he knew much more about the situation, he could find an answer for Elise.

"Come back here…" Elise said before she turned and continued to pursue him up and into the roof. "Where do you think you're going?! You're going to leave me… Like everyone does?! Do you hate me that badly?" Elise questioned as Lucas turned to look at her.

There was a look of explained sympathy and anger between the duo. Lucas knew her answer would always be to hate anything that wronged him. He didn't want to hurt her, but he also knew that she was just using it as an excuse. The twisted smile on her face told him that she was looking for an answer, for something to hurt and blame for her pains.

"All you do is hurt, people," Lucas said as he landed on a ledge. "Over and over again. Why? Who made you hate people so much that you want to destroy everything? Tell me that, tell me who hurt you besides them." Lucas said, pointing a clawed finger at one of the lab workers who was cut up at the moment.

Elise looked at the slain lab associates, she hadn't personally killed them all. A few that she revived as her undead servants, yes… However? They had tortured her, and done horrible tests which racked and warped her body.

"Do you know what they did to me when I was here?" Elise asked as she leaned on the wall. "What they inflicted on me? They hurt me. They constantly want to hurt me. All of the people in here? The lab experimented on them to find perfect warriors. I didn't get lucky; they just didn't want to waste time on the others when they had a weapon like me." Elise stated to which Lucas was silent.

What could someone say? There was no way he ended up as the hero when it came down to it. Still? He didn't want to think they were all monsters who deserved death.

She cleared her throat while she started to look around. There was far too much carnage for her to be happy. She wanted payback, but not from the rest of the world. It didn't mean she wouldn't kill if it helped, but there was entirely nothing that kept that from expanding to the rest of the planet.

'She's too unstable as a warrior for me to let her go… But she has a point. These staff all weren't the best of people. They experimented on countless people who can't go back to their sense of normality at the moment. I don't know what to say when it comes down to it. There's very little that I can say.' Lucas mentally thought as he slowly flew down to her platform.

He crossed his arms while he started to sigh as he started to think of what to say. She raised an eyebrow as he started to slowly clear his throat.

"I don't think you're innocent," Lucas stated before he pointed at one of the people. "But I don't think they are any better. I also think there's nothing left for us here. We should leave, find out more about what they did to them… To us." Lucas added while he cleared his throat.

"Then we leave?" Elise stated to which Lucas nodded to himself. "Good. We should go now." Elise stated to herself while she tapped her fingers together.

Lucas nodded while he looked upwards and slowly flexed his wings. He wanted to escape as was she. He slowly opened his wings while he slowly started to ascend.

Lucas watched Elise slowly ascend upwards. He sighed mentally with the fact that she'd harm more people if they were to escape. Whom had made her be this way and why had they done so? They had no reason to do it, yet it seemed she was now a part of this at the moment.

He had 20 trillion different questions before he left this place. He didn't wish to be in here anymore when it came down to it. this place had nothing but bad things to say before this was done and dusted.

Still? He needed to clear his mind and this place had messed with his brain and now? he felt as if it was entirely draining him simply to be present here. what had made this place the way it was? What was the reason for this or the rest of what had happened? They wanted something in exchange for what to do next. If there was to be a return to this place? Then he'd come back at a later time and date to see what he had missed at the time.

Elise didn't seem to mind this. In fact? She followed him with a terrible glee in her steps as he sighed to himself

"Why do you seem to persist in destroying whatever happens to be around you?" Lucas asked while he sighed to himself. "Why do you also think that all of this being destroyed helps anything either? It doesn't stop more people from tearing the world down or more experiments that will doom things." Lucas stated while he tapped his fingers on his arms and legs, he cleared his head.

Still? He had been rather interested in what to do next before he cleared his throat and tapped his hands on the walls. There was enough machinery to help many people yet there was so much suffering in this world while he sighed to himself.

Elise slowly started to climb to the next floor and he crossed his arms. He said nothing as he pondered how they had created her before now. Someone had turned her into a weapon and it showed as both went along this path.

He wasn't the soldier that they wanted. He was a rather interested warrior despite himself how this had been when it came down to it. Elise was someone who he considered a monster while he cleared his mind and leaned on one of the pillars next to him.

"These people had chopped many others into itty bitty pieces and spread them around the area. What you are defending are monsters when it comes to it." Elise stated while she frowned to herself and crossed her arms across her chest. "There's plenty of research into trying to make weapons. You were a weapon; I was a weapon at the end of the day. There were dozens of weapons in their closet." Elise added before she tapped on her chin with one of her hair tendrils.

She sighed to herself before he nodded to her. He found some truth in her words despite himself. This path wasn't to end anytime soon, yet he found some small shred of amusement in how often she appeared to ponder her best role in it.

She stared at him and finally decided to escape. This lab had been her tomb for far too long and it had become a lot harder for her to think while she was surrounded by dozens of clawing memories that seemed to dance in her head. The longer that she was placed here? The harder it became simply to breathe, let alone plot her escape from it.

Still? She had some loose ends to tie in a bow and end properly. One couldn't become too dependent on this place or else it'd be their tomb. She gazed at Lucas who seemed as thrown around by this as she had been. Perhaps the sheer memories had tarnished something inside her, perhaps it had become a memory she didn't wish to recollect.

The sooner she was free from the confines of this place? The sooner she was able to relax and collect herself. It had become a rather soothing idea in her mind if she was to be quite honest.

"We should leave before more soldiers come. There will be a team sooner or later and it will not be nice to see them in the second. We both know what will happen if they come and I see them. It will not be nice." Elise said while she started to dance on her tiptoes around him while she crossed her arms at him.

Lucas seemed to be annoyed at this, yet he nodded all the same. He seemed rather at peace with the fact that she was insane as of now.

He didn't know what to expect from her anymore. She was such a mystery that he hadn't at all seemed to care. He wanted so badly to see past her shell, but he understood that it was a bit of a fantasy.

It was going to be interesting as of the second. He wanted a lot more than this. He was going to cut deep. He was going to cut deep. He was honestly curious as to how she'd fly.

He'd fly either way. This was going to be cut in half with enough time and effort. He'd let Elise out, only if he could tame her, control her, he'd not let her be stopped as of the second. He was going to hum.

He typed in the commands, ready for the next mission and all that came when it ended.

The elevator slowly started to float into the sky before he hummed, looking at the enemy. There was more on this than he was going to be doing as of the second. It'd end sooner or later. He'd not let it happen as of the second.

He sighed and rubbed at his temples as the elevator rose.
