"Words have power, Katara."
Her skin crawled at the casual way her name slid from his lips. It was too soft, nearly intimate. She could almost believe it was Aang speaking, not a malevolent spirit who stalked her across the word, slipping into her friend's bodies; a ravenous parasite feeding off emotional distress.
If she gave into hers now, he'd gain one more puppet.
Koh smirked, enjoying the turmoil twisting her features. "Tantalizing." His fingers brushed her cheek lightly. Katara's eyes popped. She jerked violently from him, hands fisted against her chest. Koh chuckled. "Time's up. We'll meet again soon."
Author's note: Well, it seems life isn't done with me just yet. Less than 2 weeks after my car accident, my sister was in a car accident, which also totaled her car. And, again like me, she was injured. So between hospital visits, lawyers, bank loans and car shopping I was once again pulled away from any chance of writing. Then my cats decided to get into a rip-roaring fight at 3 am which resulted in one of them requiring emergency veterinary care for a rather nasty wound quickly followed by our roof springing several leaks, and our basement backing up with a ruptured sewer line. Have I met the life BS quota for 2019 yet? It's got to be close! Ha!
