The next morning rolled around and Jett stumbled down the stairs. He opened his mouth but Andrew cut in.
"You're not sick. You're going to school today."
"Oh, come on!"
Kaelin was in his room, studying but Wendy was there, staring at her brothers.
"Did I miss something?"
"No-"
"Yep."
Jett glared at Andrew.
"What? You're not telling him you like him! Not yet anyway, you just have to be his friend first!"
"Oh, is this about Raivis?"
"Yeah."
"Good luck." she smirked.
He screamed.
Jett huffed in the car ride to school, hoping he wasn't blushing as much as he thought he was.
"This is your stop," Andrew smiled, stopping the car.
Jett stuck his tongue at them and swung his bag on his back, running up to the school gates. He waved to his other friends and turned around, seeing the car driving away but not before he spotted Wendy making love heart shapes with her hands.
He scowled.
"Here's a coffee."
Romeo placed the cup down on the table in front of the still half-asleep Andrew.
"I don't want it, I'm tired-"
"It's literally ten o'clock. You need to wake up."
"Naou I don't..." he overpronounced the 'no', his head falling on the table with a bang. "Ow!" he roared, shooting back up, rubbing his forehead.
"Huh, that works better than coffee." Romeo noted.
"Shut it, you." he mumbled, reaching for the drink.
It had been a two years since the two had gotten together. They had both decided to move to Australia together (as Andrew had wanted to go since he was fifteen and Romeo didn't have anything better to do). They were living in Western Australia and Andrew's brother, Kaelin, was currently living in Wellington in New Zealand.
Oh yeah, the two were engaged now.
"Aren't we Zoom calling our family today?" Romeo recalled.
Andrew let out a loud groan. "I'd rather not, Jett's going to make fun of our height difference."
He just laughed. "Well, the younger ones usually grow taller than the oldest."
"What time are we doing it?"
"Hm, we had to keep in account Kae from New Zealand, which is four hours ahead of us, and we're nine hours ahead of England... so I think we were doing it at 5 PM." he remembered.
"So why did you wake me up so early?!"
"It's not early?"
"Ten is very early." he persisted. "You should've woken me up at mid-day."
He rolled his eyes. "And what are you going to do after the Christmas holidays? You're still a dentist, you're going to have to wake up earlier than this."
Andrew perked up slightly. "Can we go down to Bunnings?"
"You want to... okay, fine."
He cheered.
They hopped into the car, and Romeo drove to the nearest Bunnings, all while Andrew babbled with no breaks.
"You still act like a nine year-old despite being thirty." Romeo commented, as Andrew was eating a sausage sizzle.
"Oh, thanks!"
"I- I don't think that was a compliment-" he blinked. "Wait, maybe it was."
"You're going to make your mind up yet?" he passed the sandwich over to him, who sighed.
"How do you enjoy things like this?" he asked, biting into it. "It's just a piece of bread with sausage, sauce and onions."
He gasped. "It's a natural delicacy!"
"If you say so." he shrugged. "But then what about bread with sprinkles-"
"Hundreds and Thousands, and those are called fairy bread, thank you very much." he scoffed.
Romeo dissolved in laughter. "I know that. But I love how much it annoys you."
"Wait, you said that on purpose?!"
"Living with you for two years means I should remember these things!" he replied. "And I do! But I love seeing you get worked up over the littlest things!"
He groaned, realising he had gotten manipulated by his own fiancé.
"Anyway, how was your class this year?"
"Not too bad." Romeo licked his fingers. "Though, some of them definitely reminded me of Wendy and her friends."
"Really?"
"Well. Without all of the talking back."
Andrew smiled. "You know, I'm kind of glad Wendy was an arse that year. I can't imagine what would've happened if we didn't interact that parent-teacher meeting."
Romeo shook his head. "Sadly, I'd have to agree."
They headed home and chatted away and soon 5 PM arrived fairly soon.
They connected to the Zoom call to see that Lovino was already on.
"Hey, it's my brother and his fiancé! How you two doing?!"
"Great, thanks!" they answered.
"One day you'll get married and you'll leave me to be single by myself." he pouted.
"You've been the only single one in the Vargas household for two years now." Romeo commented.
"Okay, that's true."
"Sorry, I'm late!" Kaelin just connected. "Oh? It's just you guys."
"What do you mean by that?" Andrew placed his hand on his chest. "You're so mean!"
"I'm joking, you idiot. But I thought by now everyone else would've be on..."
At that moment, Jett and Raivis appeared on the screen.
"Hey, losers!" Jett laughed, with Raivis elbowing him telling him; "That's rude!"
"Good ev... morning." Kaelin corrected himself.
"Ack, I haven't used this thing in a while." Wendy's face showed up. "I can't believe Jett decided to move away and now I have to figure it out by myself."
"It's all for the best, ain't it?" Jett smirked.
She just rolled her eyes.
"So it's just Feliciano and Ludwig who still have to join, right?" Lovino mentioned.
"Yeah, but they are living in Germany so-"
"That doesn't give them a reason to forget! That just shows how irresponsible they are- oh, and they're on." Wendy sighed.
Feliciano waved at the others, who waved back, though somewhat reluctantly.
"You're so enthusiastic for 9 AM." Lovino mumbled sourly.
"You're too dead for eight o'clock, though." he shot back.
"Aye, we're not arguing over Zoom. We're literally not even a minute in." Kaelin interrupted, stopping the two brothers from arguing.
"Thanks, Kae." Wendy said. "I hate the sound of people arguing on Zoom, especially when the voices go all scratchy. Like; 'Sccczzzh' and 'jjjzzztt'." she attempted to demonstrate.
"Yeah, moving on-" Andrew cut in as Wendy's noises was actually making the quality worse.
"How's your marriage?" Romeo asked Ludwig and Feliciano, Jett nodding at the question.
"It's fine. Apart from arguing over pointless things like how to use the toothpaste-" at this Feliciano glared at Ludwig, who shrugged in response.
"You literally lived together for half a year to understand your living habits... and you're fighting over the most stupidest things..." Andrew confirmed. "Of course."
"Just you want one day you'll do the same!" Ludwig spoke up.
"We've known each other since highschool. I doubt it." Andrew scoffed.
"So did Feliciano and I. We're still learning bits of each other everyday." he replied.
Andrew grumbled a bit to himself, while Romeo just rolled his eyes at his fiancé. "So, how are you two?" he said, mentioned to Jett and Raivis.
Jett flushed bright red. "Ah, well we're good."
"Definitely."
"I just can't believe you like me, though."
"Why not? What's not to like about you?"
"We don't need a lover's quarrel." Wendy interjected, seemingly becoming more bored. "What about us single pringles?"
"No one cares!" Jett laughed, before getting hit with a sock by his boyfriend.
"Anyway, because you're all old and wrinkly-" Just about everyone cried out at Wendy's statement. "-y'all get to listen to me! Because I'm the youngest!"
"By three years!" Jett sniffed.
"Aren't you all glad of my contribution to those two idiots love lives? If it weren't for me-"
"If it weren't for miscommunication." Lovino raised his eyebrows. "You told me that you thought that your friends-"
"IF IT WEREN'T FOR ME, Romeo would still be simping and Andrew would have no clue. Am I right or what?"
Romeo grimaced. "We get it, you like credit for it."
"DAMN RIGHT!"
"But maybe there'll be one day, you'll like someone and be dead-arse stupid about it." Andrew commented.
"You're talking about Jett." she replied.
"Yeah, but you're related. You may share the same gene."
"I hope not!"
Kaelin, who had stayed silent the whole time, jolted up. "You guys want to see my sheep?"
"Your what?"
He carried his laptop outside, where the camera couldn't quite capture the sheep as it was dark outside.
"Kae, you need to turn on your light. No one else has super vision." Raivis pointed out.
There was a fumble, and the light turned on, and Ludwig screamed, for the sheep were really close to the camera and they had appeared out of nowhere.
"You baby." Lovino laughed, ignoring the fact that he had also jumped in shock.
"This is Bruce, he's a cutie. Except that he- Bruce, don't eat the laptop!" he squealed; all the others knew was that the laptop had fallen and the sheep was in the camera's angle.
They all burst out into laughter.
After Kaelin had managed to secure the laptop (and scold Bruce about it) the nine continued to talk for a few more hours at best. That Kaelin had fallen asleep on top of his device was when the Europeans remember time-zones existed.
"We better let you guys go to sleep." Lovino smiled knowingly as Andrew let out a loud yawn, making his fiancé copy him.
"Bye bye!" Wendy waved goodbye, logging out. Lovino followed suit.
"Ah, we better go too. I was about to show Feliciano how to use toothpaste properly." Ludwig informed.
"I was hoping you'd forget about that..."
The Beilschmidt couple logged out as well.
"See you in Australia soon!" Jett grinned.
"Oh, you're coming here as well?" Romeo raised his eyebrow.
"Jett's really impatient, but we're saving up money together." Raivis explained.
"Tell us when you move!" Andrew cried out, and they nodded, logging out.
Romeo stood up. "We might as well go to bed now." he stretched. "Do you want to change first?"
He shrugged.
The Italian glanced at him. "Is there something you want to talk about?"
"Uh, kind of?"
He let out some sort of dry smile. "You don't need to beat around the bush." he stated, sitting back down.
"I- Okay." He fidgeted as he attempted to collect his thoughts. "Do... Do you want kids?"
"Excuse me, what?" he blinked.
"I mean! If you don't to-" he stuttered, waving his hands about.
"Oh no! I was just confused! I thought you were going to say something like; 'we can't be together anymore' or something!" Romeo laughed.
"Why would I say that for? I love you!" It was now his turn to become confused. "But anyway, what's your answer? Like, if you don't want to-"
"Of course I'd love to!" Romeo exclaimed. "But let's take it one step at a time. We'll get married first and then we'll go and adopt, hm?"
A grin started tugging at Andrew's lips and he couldn't stop smiling. "I love you so much!" he cried out, leaping onto him, kissing him all over his face.
"Willow Vargas!"
The girl squealed, as Andrew chased his daughter around the backyard.
"Andrew, if she trips and hurts herself-" Romeo warned from the kitchen, watching them run.
"It'll be fine!" he replied, catching her and hugging her tight.
There was a cry from the table, and Romeo refocused his attention to the other baby in the highchair.
"Oh, are you hungry Aubrey?" he cooed, spoon-feeding the boy.
He pushed the bowl off the table.
Of course.
He sighed but left it there. "Do you want to play with your sister?" he tried to pick him up but he squirmed. He gritted his teeth and held on, walking outside.
"Andrew! Can you look after Aubrey for me? I've got to clean up the baby... food..." he paused, as the boy started wriggling faster than ever.
Thank goodness Andrew was better with dealing with babies than he was.
"Andrew, get over here before I drop him!"
He laughed and he hurried over, taking hold of Aubrey, who relaxed. Willow, who was right behind him, jumped up and down.
"Pick me up, Papa! Pick me up!"
Romeo squatted and she wrapped her hands around her neck.
"Willow- not around the neck-" he choked, trying to move her hands to his shoulders.
"Sorry!" she smiled.
He stood up, hold her while Aubrey started to fall asleep.
The two husbands looked at each other, both with bags under their eyes having to be waken up at the most unholy hours to deal with Aubrey's messed up sleep schedules.
"Uncle Jett and Uncle Raivis are visiting tomorrow." Romeo told Willow, who gasped.
"Are they?! Yay!" she cheered. "Put me down now!"
Romeo obliged. She ran off inside the house.
"We should probably put Aubrey in his crib, shouldn't we?" Andrew said.
They walked back into the house, happy how their lives had turned out.
