"Hey, remember how you said i'm not your type?" Ryan asked looking over at his wife while they drove to the Wyatt residence. They finally set a date and on meeting up and everyone agreed that this Saturday was the day all of them would get together for a BBQ.
"I still feel the same way." Alex smiled, turning towards the backseat to look at her son and daughter to see what the fuss was about. Phoebe was asking a bunch of questions while, Asher dosed off whenever the little man got into a moving vehicle.
"Mama, where we go?" The first question of many came up.
"We're going to CJ's house." Alex explained waiting for more questions to come but that response seemed to satisfy her daughter.
"Are you and Luca okay now after what happened?" Ryan asked looking over at his wife for a second.
Alex shrugged, "I think so, we haven't had actually spoken about it but we seem fine."
"Hhhhmm" her husband nodded as they pulled up to their friend's apartment. Surprised to see that it seemed like they were the last ones to arrive. Since Natalie and Nimah were already there.
Ryan got Phoebe out of her car seat while Asher waited on his mother to come around and get him. It did;t take the little guy long to start kicking his legs out when he was finally free, earning a kiss from his mother on his cheek.
"Is this the time to show up?" Nimah asked when they opened the door.
"It's not my fault." Ryan defended quickly, I was ready an hour ago.
"Oh whatever, I have a family who had to get ready. That's the reason." Alex laughed knowing very well that she was the exact reason why they were late.
Everyone was welcome inside, and as usual the men lined up along the grill. The women in the kitchen while the children played in the lounge. While Phoebe took turns greeting the aunts in the kitchen befor emoving to join Renata in the lounge. Renata and Phoebe got their dolls out and started playing. Nimah was the first one to take Asher from his mother's arms.
"Hello handsome boy, how are you?" Nimah asked looking at Asher. The smaller version of his father, with his matching blue eyes. Asher babbled something in return and Nimah nodded.
"I know, they are being so unfair towards you. I'm sure it's your mother." Nimah continued the one sided conversation with the baby boy, while Natalie had CJ in her arms.
Keeping the boys was their way of getting out of helping in the kitchen since they are so occupied. "You do know you're gonna have to put them down eventually." Shelby said, looking at Natalie and she shrugged.
"No one will be here to pick you up when you start crying and all your aunts are gone." Shelby said to her son laughing at his smiley face.
"I fully agree with that." Alex said opening the fridge to get the ingredients out and start on making the salad.
"Fiinnee." Nimah said and Natalie followed suit, putting the boys down on the play mat with the girls where they entertained themselves.
Outside the men were standing around the fire, with a beer. No one actually grilling anything just yet. They are still busy catching up on what they missed out on during the time they haven't seen each other. Qyade wa the first one to steer the conversation in a serious direction after all the jokes had subsided.
"How do you know when you've met the right one?" Clive asked no one in particular. Waiting for the first one to answer the question.
"You just know man." Ryan said looking up at him and Caleb nodded. "Alex told me I wasn't her type the first time we hooked up."
"What do you mean?" Clive asked looking interested in this piece of information he's never heard before.
"We uuhhhh...we kind of had sex in my car the first time we met." Ryan confessed seeing the smile creep onto the rest of the guy's faces.
"Not wasting any time hey." Quade laughed.
"How about you Caleb?" Clive asked.
"Shelby called me a golden boy. Oh and that my abs were sprayed on. She really couldn't stand me. Said I didn't take anything serious." He laughed. "And she wasn't wrong I still don't take anything serious."
Sticking to their part of not helping out with the salads, Natalie started preparing snacks for Renata and Phoebe, while Nimah made work of it to prepare something for the men outside before they actually start grilling.
"Renata, Phoebe come get something to eat." Natalie called the girls over. There was something really cute about the two of them. Renata waited until Phoebe got onto her feet before taking her hand and walking over to her mom in the kitchen. Shelby turned the TV over to some cartoons.
Excited about Paw Patrol, Phoebe stood in front of the TV and watched the show.
"Phoebe" her mother said in a warning tone of voice and the toddler made her way over to the couch. Struggling to get up but with the help of her father who passed by getting some more beers, before making his way back outside again.
"Nothing is ready yet, it's not my fault Caleb." Nimah said quickly as she handed him the platter she made instead of the meat he came inside to get.
"We're in no hurry." Caleb said as he walked back outside. His son looking at him as he passed and soon a wave of tears started. "I'm coming now CJ" Caleb said hoping it'll help his son calm down, but the sound of his father's voice only made him cry louder. Once Caleb put the platters donwn on the table outside he headed back inside to pick up his son.
"What's your problem buddy?" Caleb asked picking up his son, and as soon as CJ was in his father's arms he was quiet. "You just miss me?" He ask and CJ replied in a language of his own. "There's no reason to be sad about it. Look there you have friends who came to visit you." Caleb said and waitied a while for CJ to calm down before putting him back down on the playmat with Asher.
"Clive, back to your question, we didn't forget about that. Why'd you ask?" Quade asked looking at him.
"I want to ask Natalie to marry me. I don't know how. I don't know if she will say yes." Clive admitted. "We have our share of arguments. I love Renata like she's my own daughter. I love Natalie dammit."
"The arguments won;t stop when you're married." Quade said.
Ryan nodded his head, "on the contrary, it gets more intesne. Sleeping on the couch."
"Silent treatment. No sex." Caleb added to the conversation laughing at the look on Clive's face.
"But it;s not always bad though, is it?" Quade wanted to know.
"Nah man, not at all. You grow together, learn how to raise children, build a house. Have continious support. It's worth it if you've found the right one", Caleb confessed.
"Take that from a guy who's wife called him the golden boy." Ryan laughed.
The women got through making the salads while tending to the children in between. Soon Asher became grumpy and it was time for his bottle and nap time. Alex walked over to pick him up so she can start nursing him. Grabbing a blanket in the process so she can cover herself in the process.
"You're really hungry hey?" Alex smiled rubbing a hand over Asher's head.
"I still can't believe you're mother's. It's not what I expected when I saw you the first time in Quantico." Nimah laughed.
"I know right. I didn't like any of you when we first started out." Alex admitted laughing at the faces of her friends.
The sun began to set and it was time for the girls to take a bath and change into pajama's. "Alright little ladies, bath time." Natalie said cheerfully, after she ran a bath for the girls. Somehow it became an unspoken rule that whenever the friends hung out at someone's place they'd take the pajama's of the kids with to make to avoid bath time at home. After Phoebe and Renata's bath, it was time for Asher and CJ to take a bath, and they were put to be, before their parents eventually started the evening of socializing with each other.
Hey guys here's another one. I want to continue a conversation during dinner and make it fun but I don;t know how to do that. I'm out of ideas here, so you're welcome to help me out. Stay inside, and stay safe during this time we're facing this world wide pandemic. Hope you still enjoy the story. Lovies-S
