A/N: So, I guess I should try and pace out my chapter's as I go about them huh? I'll admit while it is good to get a lot out, I do think it's also important to leave a bit of time for each new chapter to 'breath' as it were and give readers a chance to leave a Review or something to indicate their thoughts on how things are going. Anyhow, I figure I might as well do a bit more of what I guess you all could call 'character studies' of the cast. And why not talk about our infamously annoying, pizza-loving, immortal witch? And why she is the way she is with some things in particular...
Yes, I am aware some things probably are meant to be a sort of running gag, like how Tamaki pretty much always ends up ejecting not long after fighting starts, or how Kallen often finds herself in positions she'd rather not be stuck in, mostly involving Lelouch as well mind you. However I like to think that at least in C.C.'s case, her thing of always wanting a slice of Pizza probably isn't just a thing for comedic effect, well, at least not all just for intentional reasons. I'm sure the creative staff who came up with it had their reasons, as for me. Well, consider the sort of life someone like her would have lived. Born to be little more but a slave, and even if the one who owned her wasn't the sort to 'use' her. It still would have caused her no end of grief that living in such a life would entail. And once she is free, ends up encountering a woman who treats her with what seems to be actual kindness, finds herself able to use a Geass that could allow her to be loved, only for said woman to reveal she had tricked her and forced her to become an Immortal all so said woman could die. Add on to just about every single sort of thing she would have seen in her centuries of existence as a person unable to die, well...
Wouldn't you like some sort of constant in your life in the face of such a thing? If only to make it feel just the slightest bit less worse than it is?
While I doubt that in and of itself isn't enough. And out of universe reasons are as good as any to go over as to reasons why things are the way they are. It is a way to reason something that otherwise could be argued as little more than a show of support for a sponsorship to have a reason for being. Granted I might be just looking too much into it, however I'd like to think it is not a bad thing to think about what sort of things motivate and drive someone to do what they do and be who they are...
Anyhow, this is going to be another chapter of relative levity and light heartedness, next chapter though. All I am going to say, is that I hope I don't end up overdoing it and need to tone it down...
With that out of the way, let's get on with the story!
Code Geass: Specter of the Rebellion
Chapter 26
Giant Pizza's, Fun and Game's aplenty!
Ashford Acadmey, September 7th, 2017 a.t.b
Lelouch P.O.V.
Ah, a rather decent morning for today...
'Should mean well for the festival, no?'
Indeed, and while I admit when Jeremiah and Sayoko came back with him being rather battered and bloody, as well as both of them looking rather roughed up in general it had me concerned. At least things worked out to our general benefit.
'Not to mention the look the two of them shared with each other...'
Yes, I'll make sure to let Milly know to have Sayoko look after him and also ensure those two can enjoy the festivities...
'Not to mention Viletta and Ohgi. I wonder who else we should try to set up sharing a pleasant day for today?'
Hmm, I suppose I should try and stop any attempts at Milly to cause any antics involving me by having her deal with Rivalz, granted it might just mean she'll rope him into her schemes...
'I get the feeling we are going to be having to put up with such things anyhow...'
I suppose so, best to just try and put up with it then...
Getting myself washed up and ready for today, I notice Sayoko finishing up making breakfast and Getting the table set, only to have Jeremiah come along and aid her with setting it up. And I can see them trying to be a bit playful while they are going about it. I can't help but smile and feel warm at the sight, those two really do fit together...
"My, my, the way you both go about all of this, one would assume you were Husband and Wife!" Doesn't mean I wouldn't tease them though. And the Blushes they both share really make it all the more fun!
Nunnally seems to think so as well as she has a few giggles at seeing our Knight of Orange and Ninja Maid blush as they are.
"Indeed brother, they look so sweet together." She says in between giggles, and the joy I feel is welcomed without fuss in my heart...
I never had any siblings in my old life, so it was an interesting experience having a sister, and a rather large number of half siblings as well for that matter.
'Any idea which one you prefer?'
Trick question and I know it is, for me, the important thing isn't how large or small a family it, it's that it FEELS like a family you want to be a part of that matters...
'Indeed, and while I am sure you would like nothing more but to have Mother and Father along with the Half-Siblings we do love and care for alongside us. This is good for the time being right?'
Yes, although speaking of half-siblings...
"So, Marrybell is supposed to be in the Area by now, right Jeremiah?" I ask as we all sit and eat our Breakfast, and while I am a decent cook in my own right, I don't try to take over for what Sayoko would be happy to do herself. I might help her out every so often, but she would rather I focus on more important things...
"Yes, and no doubt her Knights are here as well, given how Kewell referred to his sister being here soon enough." Jeremiah responds, and while normal people would talk about how they slept or how they feel about today. We discuss things that involve plots to undermine the worlds leading superpower of an Empire...
'Eh, normalcy is overrated, am I right?'
Indeed, I prefer to be able to stand out when I want to, and really. This is something I have been readying myself for quite a while...
"Oh! I wonder if our Sisters will be here for the Festival?" Nunnally asks, a childlike gleam in her eyes, even still. I know that even if she can appear as all innocent as can be, she is more than capable of showing just what kind of person she hides underneath. I am sure mother would be proud of her for being so apt in such a way...
'And no doubt willing to tease us all about what she views as possible romance interests...'
Yes, there is that to deal with, however such issues will have to wait, as it stands I am certain there will be enough to put up with in the coming days, to say the least of the Festival itself. Now that I think about it...
'Oh? What brilliant scheme do you have this time?'
It's nothing special, I just figured it would be a nice idea to let my Half-Sisters get a break from all their tasks, and I do believe I have a way to achieve that...
'Of course, it is also good to make sure Marrybell is the same one we knew, after all it has been some time since we last met.'
If my senses can't tell, then I'd be able to know based on how she interacts with me.
'Bit of a gamble, don't you think?'
It is, however if nothing else she would probably think it's just another student who is asking her about the Black Knights as she is new to the Area.
'Fair enough, besides she probably would like to spend some time with Oldrin, right?'
Indeed, might as well tease them both when possible!
"Lelouch, you have that look in your eyes, what are you planning this time Brother?" Nunnally asks me.
Well, might as well inform her. "Oh, I was just thinking of a way I could have our sisters be 'invited' to the Festival, as well as how I am sure Marrybell and Oldrin have gotten close over the years, needless to say, I think it's only fair to see just how well those two are getting along. Wouldn't you agree Sister?"
She takes a bit to process it all, before having a mischievous look in her eyes that matches my own. "Indeed Brother, that sounds like an excellent idea. I wonder if we should also tease Nelly and Gilbert while we are at it?"
Ah sister, you ready my mind. "That sounds like a great idea! Oh it will be good to see how they all react to what we have planned..."
Sayoko P.O.V.
Lelouch-sama, as much as I am proud to serve you and Nunnally-sama. I must admit the looks the two of you share remind me a lot of Milly-sama right now...
Well, I suppose it won't be that bad, and perhaps Milly-sama would do well to know how to not so needlessly tease with people's hearts as she can be known to do, if simply because I am certain her own heart would wish to act upon it's own feelings, and yet she is so afraid to do so...
I wonder when the two of you will admit your own feelings to your own respective partners?
Jeremiah P.O.V.
I have a feeling the Prince and Princess are going to cause quite a ruckus during the festival today, knowing them however it will be subtle and planned out in such a way so as to target only specific people...
Needless to say, I expect today to be a somewhat exhausting one for those who will be targeted...
Lelouch P.O.V.
Ah, I am looking forward to today indeed.
But first. "Also, Jeremiah, Sayoko, I do believe the two of you should take the day off and enjoy the festival." I tell them.
"It is kind of you Lelouch, however it is not necessary." Jeremiah says, trying to make it so he doesn't need a break, and Sayoko simply giving a nod as to indicate she agrees with him...
'Yeah, those two are made for each other, loyal beyond reason, and also willing to work beyond what most are willing to put up with.'
I can't help but sigh, I only wonder what their potential Children will be like as they grow up...
"Look, either the two of you just take the day and enjoy the festival, or I'll just let Milly know, and even if you both tell her it is not necessary, I doubt either of you could really say no once Ruben is involved after she tells him." I explain with the sort of precision and detail in my words that have given me Infamy whenever someone tried to talk their way out of a situation with me, really I don't lose such things, and if people think I do, it's only because I would let them go on such matters...
The Maid and Knight share a brief look at one another and sigh. "Very well, as you wish Lelouch." Jeremiah says, to which I can't help but let myself a bit of a smug grin as I yet again prove why most people don't try to argue with me...
Nunnally giggles and tells me in a whisper "Think we should try to get those two along as well?"
I whisper to her back "Probably not as much as the others, if only because I'm sure they have at least some idea of their feelings from last night."
Nunnally frowns a little as she recalled the sight she had of the two of them when they came in, and she felt a fair bit of anger towards the men who would have done a number of things to Sayoko I would rather not think about. However we could both tell that the Knight and Ninja both managed to get closer after they had talked about a number of things and the incident that followed.
After we finished up our Breakfast for the day, Nunnally and I both head to the Headmasters office. Figuring it be best to talk with Ruben about our ideas, as well as to see if the 'invitations' could be sent out as well.
"Ah, Lelouch, Nunnally. Aren't you two going to help with the others about the Festival?" Ruben asks, and truth be told it is good that Milly has a grandfather like him, a decent man who has a warmth about him that one can't help but be comfortable with. Though even with that being the case, it doesn't mean he is always soft, like how he reacted when Milly's parent's sought to marry her off without caring at all for her feelings about the matter.
'At least they wouldn't try to sell her off to buy their way back to nobility...'
I am going to check regardless, even if things aren't the same as anything like that timeline, I will NOT be at ease until I am certain she is able to live her life however she wants to!
'You really do care about them, don't you?'
After spending a whole lifetime all alone, and seven years in the current one having to worry about possibly losing everything. Can you really blame me for wanting to ensure I don't lose what I do have?
'You are not wrong, just be mindful you don't end up holding them all so tightly you cause them to slip out of your grip regardless...'
I am quite aware of that fact, thank you very MUCH!
'Alright, just saying.'
Noted...
Anyhow, might as well have a chat with Ruben.
"Well, everything is just about set up for today's events, so I'm sure any last minuet work they need won't require one of my skills to be involved. However I do think it would be a worthwhile endeavor to see if we could have the Vicereine and the Sub-Vicereine see what our school has accomplished, besides I am certain even they could use some time to relax and enjoy themselves, especially with how busy and hectic things have become around the Area with Zero and those Black Knights of his." I say, with such skill and tone that it would be easy for most to simply think I am little more but just a mere student who was suggesting to the Headmaster of the school something that would in all honestly be little more than a publicity stunt...
Ah, I wonder if I had ever lived a life where I had been an actor?
'You wouldn't really know of any lives you had before your last one huh?'
Not really, however I don't really mind, it is however it happens to be...
"Hmm, well I suppose it would be good for the school, although granted having such ladies of notable presence would run the risk of drawing unwanted attention." Ruben says while giving me a knowing look, and we all know why it seems like a major risk.
"Hmm, fair enough, just simply let them know if they are either too busy to attend or otherwise unable to, then by all means allow them to give such things to those who might not be as noticeable, who might be able to, blend in the crowd, shall we say?" I tell him, and I know he is starting to understand my plan, and he starts writing up a pair of letters to go along with.
"I'm assuming you would suggest they bring someone along with?" Ruben asks, though we both know the answer to that.
"Indeed." I tell him, before asking him without really using any words to check for any bugs or cameras, needless to say Ruben Ashford knows better than to let people spy on him and after confirming the room is clear. I let my expression turn a bit more serious.
"It appears Marrybell has arrived in the Area. You are aware what this means, don't you Ruben?" I tell him, not with the voice and tone of a simple student, but that of one he had known me for many years now...
Ruben looks at me with an equally serious look in his eyes, and he sighs. "Yes, no doubt something to do with whatever you have been up to as of late?"
"Perhaps, though to be honest, who can really tell these days? For all we know she is just here to see two of her sisters, or perhaps someone is just getting fed up with how the Area is right now and simply wishes to get a few pests out of the way?" Needless to say, I have done my best to be aware as to possible issues that could arise, and the fact of the matter is. Things are going to get rather serious and problematic quickly after today...
"How was it when you woke up today?" Ruben asks me, and while it would seem like an odd question, he was aware of the prior incidents I had when waking up, but it was for another reason he asked me that...
"It was fine, however I felt a sensation like I had a fair bit of ash in my mouth." I tell him, to which Nunnally gasps, as we all knew what that entailed...
'How so?'
The thing is, I have noticed that I have had a few occurrences where I have been able to tell how certain awful events might occur, and the most notable events would be when I felt as if there was ash in my mouth, and if it felt like it was at such a point I thought I was going to choke, then it would be on a level most wouldn't know.
'Then I guess it's a good thing it's not that bad?'
Actually, the fact I am feeling as much as I did when I woke up today means the next one will probably be as bad...
'Which is when the SAZ is meant to occur...'
It saddens me to know how I probably won't be able to advert such a tragedy, I guess I should be thankful then it won't be Euphie who will be the one to blame for all of it...
"Lelouch, you are aware what that means, don't you?" Ruben asks me, his voice grim.
I give him a solemn nod "I do. And I will try to make sure it doesn't become the worst for you all, no matter what it costs me." I reply to him, my gaze hardened as I recalled the last times I felt so filled with ash...
It was the day before the Upheveal, and the day before the invasion of Japan...
I fell Nunnally's hands hold tightly onto my own, and I hold my sister in a comforting embrace. "It's alright Nunnally. It's alright, I won't be leaving you behind. We'll get through this together, alright." I tell her, doing all I can to comfort her, I can't help but feel a bit proud as she manages to hold back tears and keeps herself calm. If nothing else, we both know how harsh the world can be, and we do not yield to it, rather, we do all we can to overcome it!
'Well, that is all well and good, but can we try to enjoy today for what it is worth?'
Heh, you make a good point. It's best to end this meeting on a good note, so that today is one of joy and not contained sorrow...
After a few moments of quiet, I figure to shift the mood by telling Ruben about our ideas on how to make things 'interesting' for particular pairs of people that would be attending...
Needless to say, we all had a good number of laughs as we planned out things for today...
Suzaku P.O.V.
I have to admit, it is nice, being a part of all of this yet again...
I recall the last time around how the Festival went, thankfully it seems as if things have been arranged in a way to make it somewhat better.
Still, I don't get why that one guy in that costume feels so familiar?
It's almost like someone made it after looking at the Lancelot...
...
Eh, I guess it's no big deal, not that I would really be caught wearing such a thing anyhow.
"I have to hand it to the students here, they really have managed to put together such a lovely event!" Euphie says, thankfully she is wearing a clever disguise that she came up with for whenever she felt the need to go out of the Viceroy Palace, granted she often used it when she wanted to come out with me. And it was rather nice, if anything it felt like what I'd assume a date to be like...
I swear, I will make sure to treat you properly to such things when we don't have to worry about hiding Euphie!
"Hmm, I'll admit they have managed to set all of this up rather well." Guliford says, accompanying the two of us along with Cornelia.
I have to admit, it was surprising when a pair of letters were sent to the palace addressed to Euphie and Cornelia, though when it was noted to have come from Ruben Ashford, Cornelia was quick to have them be sent to the two of them immediately. When one of the soldiers asked if they were safe, the glare he got was enough to keep anyone from questioning them...
It was kind of Ruben to offer them all a chance to come and enjoy the festival, I knew Miss Cecile and some of the work crew for the ASEEC were going to be there, though knowing her, she probably would end up going to that whack-a-mole that some students were being a part of, no doubt planning on focusing on that one guy who looks a lot like Loyd...
Feeling sorry for the guy who will be the target of Miss Cecile's venting aside, Euphie and I figured it would do good for Cornelia and Guliford to just have a day where they weren't dealing with the tasks that normally they had to deal with, and while both of them were hesitant, it was nice to have Darlton back us up by saying how it is important that they both be able to take time to relax and enjoy the little moments in life. Though he did tease the two of them by telling them to have fun on their 'date'...
Euphie and I couldn't help but laugh at the blushes the two of them sported!
Of course, all of this wasn't totally unnoticed, as made apparent when Marrybell mel Britannia and her personal Knight Oldrin Zevon walked in, curious as to what was going on.
After rather quickly getting over the shock of seeing the two of them already here, Euphie told her half Sister and her Knight at how the Ashford's school was having a festival and how the Headmaster was kind enough to invite her and Nelly as well as bringing someone along with. Marrybell seemed to like the idea of it all well enough that she decided she and Oldrin would come along as well...
So, yeah, definitely not what I had expected, but I suppose I could make it work...
Marrybell and Oldrin always seemed nice enough from what I recalled from the last time around, though granted I never really tried to know them on a personal level. However I can see why Lelouch found the one remaining member of the mel Britanna line to be part of the list of 'Siblings I enjoyed being around and can tolerate'.
I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad they never saw what became of Lelouch's master plan, I'm sure they would have been willing to work under Nunnally's reign as Empress...
Well, today is one that should be of joy right? Might as well make the most of it!
Kallen P.O.V.
Geez, it's kind of annoying having to be a part of this haunted house thing. But I guess it's not the worst thing to be happening.
'Hey, at least you'll get to see how scared some of those dimwits will be once they stop by!'
Yep, speaking of...
I end up trying to scare someone, only to find...
"Princess Cornelia, Guliford?" I mutter quietly so as to ensure no one else hears us.
After the two take a moment to recognize it's me, Cornelia leans in a bit close and whispers "No one knows we're here, as far as most are concerned they think we are just tourists from the homeland who are partaking in the events as they caught our eyes."
I look at her flatly. "You do realize you could have done more to provide as a disguise, done something more with your Hair perhaps?"
"Like you have? I find it hard to believe you have been able to avoid suspicion with just a change in hairstyle." She responds back.
Oh, that's how you want to play?
"Pretty sure if anyone is skilled in going unnoticed it's Lelouch. I mean, seven years and NO ONE figured it out?" Though if anyone did, Jeremiah and Sayoko probably dealt with them...
Cornelia seems to realize that in fact she got herself outplayed somewhat. "Fair enough, then again Lelouch always had a skill for evading that seemed almost superhuman."
"Anyhow, much as I would like to chat with you both, I'd rather not have people wondering what is holding things up." I tell them.
"Why are you even doing all of this anyhow?" Guliford asks me.
I can't help but sigh "I got roped into it, hopefully I can get out after this next bunch, so please go along..."
Thankfully they do just that and let me get ready to see who else I have to 'scare' though knowing my luck...
"Kallen?" Of course it'd be Ohgi and Viletta.
"Yeah, it's me, look I'd really like to not put up with this much longer than I have to. Though you two really look like you'd make a cute couple." I tell them, a bit of a smug grin as I give them a tease about them being a couple.
The looks on their faces are priceless!
'Yeah, I know! At least it's not all that bad!'
Anyhow. Time to see who else I have to deal with...
After a few hapless students I find...
...
'...'
Is that...
'Yeah. I think it is...'
"DAD?! MOM?!" I can't help but exclaim in shock and surprise at the two of them here.
"Oh, there you are sweetie, we were wondering where you were." Mom says, as if it were totally normal for her and Dad to be together AT A BRITANNIAN SCHOOL!
'To be fair, no one seems to have an issue with Ohgi and Viletta being together.'
Yeah, but they have the fact they are among the staff to help them out!
'Do you really expect anyone to care all that much right now?'
Hrgh, alright fine...
Thankfully though I'm allowed to head out with all of this, so I go ahead and just follow my parents out of the Haunted house and take off the makeup I had to wear...
Who would have thought I'd be asked to look like a zombie for all of this?
'Not the worst thing you could have been stuck with doing.'
Fair enough, at least I don't have to wear some annoying and stuffy costume.
"So, where is SHE at anyhow?" I ask Dad, knowing that the bitch probably was around here somewhere.
"She didn't want to go near the attraction, though to be honest I'm not sure where she is." Dad tells me, and it is kind of nice to know she isn't really doing anything right now to spoil the fun, however I'd rather not have to put up with her otherwise...
Though now that I think about it...
"What ARE you guys all doing here anyhow?" I ask, normally Mom and Dad haven't really bothered to be out and away from the house, not because they were worried about anything, the Defense's are plenty enough to manage things, not to mention the staff are trained to protect themselves...
'Especially that one Butler who joined recently. Why does he look so familiar?'
Good point, I don't think I ever caught his name.
"Oh, well, we figured it would do good to see what your school is like and since there was a festival going on, well it got us a little Nostalgic for when Naoto's school did such things back when he was your age." Mom says, and I am glad the two of them can enjoy and reminisce on what it was like when Naoto was my age...
Speaking of my Brother...
"Where is Naoto anyhow? Probably in the Ghetto's I'd imagine?" I ask them. I mean it's not like-
"Oh, he's here also." Mom says, wait...
"WHAT?!" I yell out in surprise, thankfully everyone else is too busy to really pay me any mind, even still...
WHAT IS HE THINKING?!
"Well, he said he didn't have much to do right now, and your mother and I figured it would be nice if we could all spend some time together like a family. Like how we did in the old days." Dad tells me, and...
Honestly, I would like that. But, with how things are, won't people notice or ask questions?
"Don't worry sweetheart. I'm sure no one will pay any mind or care to notice, if anyone asks, then I'll just say he is my son and that your father simply felt it fitting to allow a maid of his that was accompanying him to allow a family member to join as a reward for being such a dutiful maid." I'll admit, Mom does make a good point, I mean. If no one points it out, then no one will really pay it much mind...
I wonder if that's how Lelouch and Nunnally have managed to hide themselves for seven years?
'Does it matter? Point is you get to spend time with your family!'
Yeah, and you know what else. If anyone tries to cause an issue, I'll just tell them to shut up and let me have a good day with my family...
"Oh, and he also brought along this lovely young woman with him. I am sure she would be a lovely girlfriend to him." Oh, that's nice, I sup-
...
...
...
Naoto P.O.V.
"WHAT?! GIRLFRIEND? WHO IS SHE? HOW LONG HAVE THEY BEEN TOGETHER?!" I hear the voice of Kallen screaming in utter shock and horror...
Ah geez, did you really have to tell her mom?
I feel the hand of the one who I brought along with tighten.
"It's alright, they were going to find out anyhow." I tell her, trying to give a smile.
Figuring we might as well face the judgement that is my sister, we both walk up and I call out to Kallen to get her attention.
She takes a moment to look, then another to process what she is seeing. Only to then finally respond with...
"Inoue?" Kallen just mutters, more out of disbelief and surprise than anything else.
Naomi Inoue has a sheepish look on her face as she tries to respond. "Hey Kallen, what's up."
Kallen P.O.V.
What the hell...
WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FREAKING. HELL!
SINCE WHEN THE HELL DID INOUE AND NAOTO BECOME A THING?!
'Maybe they only just started going out?'
THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT ANY EASIER FOR ME TO DEAL WITH!
"How long." I say, my voice barely loud enough for them to hear.
Naoto and Inoue both blush and he says "Two months."
Two months...
Two.
Months.
My brother, who I have been trying my hardest to keep alive. Has been going out with the only other woman from our cell, for two months...
AND THEY NEVER SAID ANYTHING?!
Naoto P.O.V.
Yeah, Kallen is DEFEINTALLY mad now...
"You two have been seeing each other for two months, not bothering to mention it to anyone else, not even to ME, your sister..." Kallen says, I am really worried she'll blow up, as I know she hates it when I keep things from her.
I wince and brace myself for the inevitable blow out. Only for it to not come...
Carefully opening my eyes, I see Kallen.
Smiling...
What the hell?
"Has he been treating you well Inoue, or would you rather have me call you Naomi instead?" Kallen says to my, girlfriend, man it's going to take a while till I get used to referring her like that...
"Um, he's been treating me well, and I'd prefer you just refer to me as Inoue still. We're, still trying to work things out in that regard." Inoue says, and to be honest we still are trying to figure out how all of this is. Kallen has her eyes go back and forth between us...
"And how far have the two of you gone with your relationship?" Yeah, I should have known this was going to come up.
Trying to keep my blushing to a minimum I tell my sister "Just some hand holding. We... really haven't tried anything else yet."
I can tell Inoue is also blushing heavily, mostly because of the idea of us getting so involved any time soon would be a bit much.
"I approve of this." Kallen says abruptly...
Wait.
What?
"Uh..." I don't even know what to say.
Kallen gives me a look that seems so out of place with her school hair and more with her 'preferred' hairstyle and persona and says in a voice more befitting when she is scolding Tamaki among the other Black Knights. "I said I approve of you two! Inoue isn't the worst sort of girl you could be with. Although I warn you Naoto, if you mess with her. Don't expect me to go easier on you just because I'm your sister!"
I nod rather franticly at her. "I won't, I promise, I'll treat her as well as I try to!"
And then Kallen smirks. "Good, glad to see you've got someone who can watch out for you when me and Mom aren't able to." She looks to Inoue with an approving smile.
"Take care of him will you Inoue? I know my Brother can be a handful. So please make sure he doesn't get himself killed." She says in a rather sweet tone of voice.
Huh, it's almost like Kallen has went ahead and decided to treat her like a big sister, granted she was something like that among the rest of the group, at least with the rest of the guys...
"Oh, I'll do my best." Inoue says, rather calm now that she realizes that Kallen doesn't mind the idea of us being together...
"Alright! And when you guys do decide to take the next step. Well, I'd rather not be an Aunt too soon. You know what I mean?"
KALLEN! WHY THE HECK DO YOU HAVE TO BE LIKE THAT!
Robert P.O.V.
Oh Kallen, that I have to admit, was funny!
But in all honestly Naoto, please hold off on the possible grandkids for when things are almost taken care of...
Hinata P.O.V.
Ah Kallen-chan, you really do know how to tease your brother, it reminds me so much of when you were just a little girl...
Even still, I'd prefer that you hold off on giving me grandchildren to spoil for after you and the others have made the world a better place Naoto-kun.
Rai P.O.V.
Huh, Naoto Kozuki and Naomi Inoue are a couple, who'd have thought?
"Everything alright Rai?" Nunnally asks me.
I turn to her and smile "Indeed, it's just I happened across something rather interesting."
Nunnally looks to see what I was looking at, only to giggle and look rather smug.
"What is it?" I ask, wondering what was making her look like that.
"Lelouch betted that if Inoue and Naoto where a thing, that Ohgi would have to treat Viletta to a proper date at some point."
Ah, that explains it...
Ohgi P.O.V.
Huh, that Naoto?
And it looks like Inoue is with him...
Hold on, are they...
...
...
...
Shit.
"Everything alright?" Nu asks me.
I can't help but grimace and I know I'd have to tell her.
"I wound up making a bet with Lelouch, he thought Naoto and Inoue might be a thing, I said that wasn't likely. And he said that if he won that I'd have to.."
"That you'd have to what?" She asks me...
There isn't going to be an easy way around this, is there?
"I'd have to take you out on a proper date." I admit to her, and I suppose it is not at all an issue that I happen to be blushing a fair bit at admitting such a thing.
Pretty sure she'll be mad or just slap me or-
"You pick the place, I pay for the meal?" Wait, huh?
"Um..." I don't get what she means.
"Look, I'm not really that mad at you for making that sort of bet. I'll admit it was dumb of you to go along with it since Lelouch doesn't seem like the kind to bet and lose. Especially from what the Princesses have mentioned about him from prior to the Upheaval when he was still living in the homeland." Well it's nice to know she doesn't hate me or anything like that.
"Besides, I think you're not that bad of a guy. If anything, it's kind of cute how you try to help out the students from time to time. So, I guess there is nothing wrong with seeing where this all goes." She tells me, and I don't really know where all of this goes either, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to see where this all ends up.
Hold on...
"You think I'm cute?" I ask her.
To which she simply gives me a peck on the cheek and a coy grin and starts to wander off to see what else there might be...
...
Well, she's not that bad of a looker if I'm being honest...
Lelouch P.O.V.
Ah, and yet another couple begins the steps towards blossoming...
'You really are devious you know that?'
But I haven't even begun to showcase some of the more extravagant plans I have in mind.
"Oh Milly!" I call out to the Ashford heiress, in a tone that she knows to fear, if only because I have plans that she would rather not be a part of.
"Y-yes Lelouch?" She says in a rather hesitant tone.
"I appear to have forgotten where I left a flash drive containing some information your Grandfather gave me to hold onto. Granted it's nothing serious or dangerous to your family at large, though I'd imagine you'd rather not have anyone see any photos of you from your-" Is all I can say before she puts her hand to my mouth to stop me from speaking any more about that...
"Where. Is. It." She says to me in a sinister smile. But if she thinks that would be enough to cower me, then she would be mistaken.
I have her hand off my mouth and tell her "I think Rivalz might know, and don't worry, I simply told him it had somethings that your Grandfather wanted to make sure you had is all. Never told him about what could be on it."
And right away she walks off, finding Rivalz and dragging him along to help her look for it...
'And now the real fun begins...'
Ah, as annoying as it can be to lie and trick friends, I do believe however Milly has been long overdue for a well deserved case of payback...
Flashback, a few days ago...
"So, I've looked through the files regarding Kallen like you suggested..." Milly says.
"When did I ever suggest such a thing?" I tell her, a knowing smirk as I am just teasing with her.
Milly's pout is worth it though. "Anyhow, point is Grandfather and I did and well..."
"It seems Miss Stradfield has a Japanese Surname to go along with her Britannian one." Ruben says.
"I figured as much, though her features take more after her fathers, I figured she was something of a half-blood." I told them.
Milly has a serious look on her face "Does she know?"
"About me and Nunnally being exiled royalty? Not that I am aware of. However if she does find out then I'll simply leave her be." I tell them, to the surprise and shock of Milly and curiosity of Ruben.
"What are you playing at Lelouch?" Ruben asks.
"It's simple really, if she is aware of mine and Nunnally's secret. Then letting her know I am aware of her own and have decided to keep it a secret should be enough to let her know I am willing to trust her. For why would I do such a thing if I thought of her as a threat?" And really, if I did view her as a genuine threat to our safety, I might have thought about the idea of blackmailing her to keep it hidden. Except I am not that sort of man, I was raised better than that. So I wouldn't really go along with it anyhow...
"Are you sure this is a good idea? She might not care about people finding out and it could mean trouble for all of us." Milly says.
It's only then do I drop the carefree and aloof façade that the School knows me for and let my exhausted expression be shown.
"We all know that me and Nunnally being here will spell trouble for us all no matter what. At some point, people are going to find out, and I'd rather you both along with everyone else not getting caught up in the storm that would arise from it." I tell them, and they realize just how tired I am of having to hide all the time.
If they only knew that it wasn't just hiding the fact that I am a prince that I was getting tired of...
Present day
"So, how have things been so far?" Ruben asks as he walks up to me.
I give him a slight smile. "Rather good so far, I just had Milly partner up with Rivalz in an attempt to find the 'flash drive' I 'lost'."
Ruben gives a heartfelt chuckle at that. "I must say it is kind of you and Nunnally to try and pair various individuals together. And what for yourselves?"
"I won't interfere with Nunnally or her love life, while I do plan on making sure whichever boy she picks is one I consider worthwhile. I don't intend on forcing anything unto her. As for myself, I don't really see all that much ahead for me in the future."
Ruben looks at me with a certain intensity in his eyes. "Now Lelouch, don't act as if you are destined to be alone. I am certain there is a lovely lady out there for you in the world, or several, if you plan on doing the same as your Father."
I give a chuckle as I tell him "Even if I were to find one who I could feel something of affection towards, I wouldn't try to have more than just one. Father did say he wished he didn't have to put up with so many woman trying to get his attention after all, and considering how many girls here have looked at me. I think it only solidifies my idea of only having one woman to be a possible bride."
Ruben gives a knowing laugh, no doubt aware of Father's gripes with having to have hundred's of woman demanding he lay with them.
"Well, I guess that much is certain. Any takers?" He asks.
I can't help but give a sad smile as I tell him. "Even if that were to be the case, I doubt I could ever be worthy of their love. How could anyone really love someone like me? For who I am, or what I've done. Am I deserving of such affection? Could I ever be worthy of having the heart of another?"
He has a sad look in his eyes as he looks at me, as if he can tell that I am only just barely managing to endure having so many secrets, even ones he doesn't really know, other than how I have them...
I knew early on from the start of my new life how there would be people who would realize that I am keeping something hidden, something that went far beyond just the normal amount of dark secrets. And that even if they have no idea what it could possibly be, the fact is that I am hiding something would be enough...
I'm almost positive Suzaku and Euphie know, given how they have lived a whole life in which a Black Rebellion had occurred and seen the end of that world...
Mother and Father probably knew, for they are my parents, and a parent knows things that their child tries to keep hidden, even if it is only the fact something is being kept hidden in the first place...
I wouldn't even be all that shocked if Nunnally and Rai suspected that much, as they have seen many possible lifetimes and seen all manners of secrets I could have held...
So, to say that Ruben knew I was hiding something, given how he himself had to deal with all matters of men and women who just as often tried to hide things from him as much as tell him what they wanted him to hear. Was not that far of a stretch...
One does not gain the fame of being involved with the creation of the Ganymede Knightmare Frame if one is unable to read at what people are hiding after all...
Ruben, for what it's worth, simply places a hand on my shoulder and says "I don't know what it is you hide Lelouch, but I am certain there is a woman out there who will understand it for what it is. And will be willing to accept you for all that you are. As finding such a woman was what led me to have my Son, and eventually my Granddaughter."
"While I admit your Son and his Wife have been somewhat lacking in that they felt their only way to regain nobility was to marry of Milly to whichever single Noble was willing to take her hand. I do understand how it was the easier of the options they held. But let's be honest Ruben, since when has anything done easy been worth doing?" I reply to him, and indeed there is a point to be had in that which is done easy might be safe, but rare is the time which it's reward out weights any other method. If that really was the case, then conflict would not be a needed part of life.
'Say what you will about such ideas, there is a point to be had in those that are capable are the ones who end up succeeding above all others.'
"Indeed, however I am rather happy to see you try and ensure my Grand Daughter can be with someone who she really would be happy with. I'm certain young Cardemond could do well under my tutelage, he has a good understanding of machines. Skills that I am certain would be helpful with Knightmare Frames." Ruben says.
I must admit, it is surprising to hear him use such words, not so much with regards to Milly and Rivalz, as he no doubt is aware of how they both have a shared unrequited love towards one another. But rather it is what he is saying besides all of that...
"Are you thinking of getting back into the game Ruben?" I ask him, my voice dead serious, I am aware how for a man like him, for his family. Doing so could have many risks, not to say the least of how by all accounts they were effectively stripped of all resources and influence for their affiliations to Mother and Father by a lesser extent.
He looks back at me, an equally serious look in his eyes. "My boy, I never left it in the first place. I just let them all think I was washed out and no longer a player."
"You might have the ideas and plans, but do you have the means to bring them to life?" I ask him, for all his ability to design all matter of frames, I know as well as he does it means nothing if he can not bring them to physical form.
"Not quite, though I am certain Robert and Kirihara would be more than happy to lend what materials and manpower they can spare." He tells me, and it's interesting he is on a first name basis with the Lord Stradfield, and mentioning Kirihara as well?
'Think he knows?'
Wouldn't be that shocked. The old man has dealt with a lot in his life, no doubt the machinations of an exiled Prince leading a rebellion against those who cast him and his family out would be easy enough for him to make sense of.
"So, you know do you?" Might as well see just how much he does know anyhow.
"Simply that those two have something of a partnership is all, and that I feel it would only be fair to get myself involved, if you are alright with it that is Lelouch." Clever old man, neither confirming or denying anything...
'Smart man indeed. At least it's clear where Milly get's her mind from.'
"So long as it won't be at risk to Milly or the others, I see no reason why you should be kept out of such a partnership." I tell him, truth be told, I find all of this to be exciting in a way.
'Just don't forget that this isn't a game. Not really much of a chance to do over you know.'
Oh, trust me, I know. Far better than anyone else really...
Hmm, speaking of the Ganymede...
"Isn't someone going to use it to make a giant Pizza?" I ask him, both to lighten the mood, and also because I really am curious how that is going to turn out.
I know C.C. will be rather annoyed if it ends up not being the case...
Ruben just smiles at me. "Let's just say I brought someone along who would be more than happy to help in that manner."
Okay Ruben, go ahead and leave it a mystery as to who will be doing that.
I'm willing to put up with it for all that it is anyhow...
Kallen P.O.V.
Okay, today's been rather alright so far. Even if the fact Naoto and Inoue are a thing is a bit of a shock. I'm willing to deal with that...
Hmm, I wonder who is going to be working on making the Giant Pizza?
Rivalz? No, I saw him being dragged around by Milly trying to look for something, no doubt a scheme by Lelouch to get those two together.
Heh, nice little reversal for a change. I welcome it.
Could it be Suzaku? No, I can see him with Euphie rather clearly...
Who could it be?
Of course, right as the event where it is all meant to begin, I see the Ganymede show up, and in one of it's hands appears to be a woman.
Granted, said woman can only be ascertained as she is wearing a helmet, but the outfit she is wearing is able to tell she has a rather nice figure, which should suggest something of an idea. Then again I wouldn't really claim to know.
It's not Marrybell or her Knights, granted it freaked me out at first seeing them all here. However I am willing to accept that given how different things are, that such a thing is not out of the realm of possibility...
However, it's once the woman got into the cockpit of the Ganymede and got it moving. Did I really start to get an idea as to who this mystery pilot was.
The way she moved, how she managed the Frame with such speed and precision...
I must admit, I'd imagine Lelouch and Nunnally are doing all they can to keep themselves composed and not react in any way that could blow their cover...
"It... It can't be..." I hear Cornelia mutter nearby.
I figure to get close and try to help her calm down. Knowing how much she idolized the woman, she might have trouble keeping herself calm.
"Everything alright?" I ask her as I walk towards her and Guliford, trying to sound casual.
She notices me and quickly realizes why I'm doing this and quickly get's herself under control. "Yes, I'm fine. It's just, I can't help but be reminded of a woman who I always looked up to since I was a little girl, she used the same sort of Knightmare as I am looking at now, honestly it looks like it's the exact same as I recall it being."
I understand and smile. "Well, I'm sure she'd be happy to know you are doing alright." Honestly, even with everything she has done, I can't blame Cornelia for doing what she has done. She has pretty much been fine living as a Military Woman and is content with just doing what she does best. Can't blame a soldier for doing what the rulers in charge demand of them. Not even someone like her really...
It doesn't take long before the Pizza is finished and bits and pieces of it are cut and given out to people all over. And I have to say, it's rather good!
Marrybell P.O.V.
Was that...
It must have been her!
While I have not been such an idolizing girl for Lady Marianne as Cornelia is. I do hold her in high esteem and regard, if only because she was the only other woman besides mother who Father could be said to have truly loved.
To know that she is alive and well, it makes me feel happy.
Mother, Sister...
I hope you are both happy from where you are right now. Even if it's not much. At least I do have people I can consider to be family.
Speaking of Family...
"It is good to see you Marrybell, it feels as if it has been an eternity." A young man with black hair and Purple eyes says. And even if it has been seven years, I know it's him.
"Lelouch..." I say, somewhat able to keep myself from breaking into tears.
He gestures for me to follow him. "Come, let us talk in a more private setting, and Oldrin, do please come along as well. Afterall, it would be wrong of me to keep you both separate." Oh Lelouch, teasing about us as always...
Still, knowing him. Nunnally is alive and well no doubt.
And indeed, when I walk into the Building that serves for the Student Council as well as also the place of residence for my two Half Siblings. I see that Nunnally has grown into a beautiful young woman herself.
"Oh. Sister Marrybell!" Nunnally exclaims with tears of joy in her eyes as she runs up to me and hugs me tightly. I can't help but smile and let a few happy tears of my own fall as I return the hug as well.
"It is good to see you well Princess, and Lady Zevron, you look as charming as your Mother. How is she?" Jeremiah, ever the kind and well meaning of a Knight says, and it is good to see him as well. I always liked it when we wound up having him involved in our little games.
"She is doing well Margrave Gottwald. Though she wishes she had not been forced to raise her blade against those she felt did not deserve such fates." Oldrin says with a tone of sadness, indeed, even if the Knights of the Round were left mostly intact. It did not mean they were left to act as they wished. Lady Zevron and a number of the others often had to do as commanded, though not without some resentment on her and that of a few others. Still, I suppose their skills are of a sort not even the damnable Lord of Wraith's can simply replace, even if said 'replacement' involves some sort of means that most simply have rumors of...
Even still, I know like it or not, things are getting to a point where things can be kept under wraps for much longer. Really I think everyone here can feel it.
"Tell me Brother, do you know of the well being of Father and Lady Marianne?" I ask him.
"From what I've been told, Father is well, as for Mother. Well, I think what we all just saw moments ago would be enough to give a good indication, now wouldn't it Sister dear?" Ah Lelouch, as smart and adept as always.
"Needless to say, I had a feeling Ruben was involved, given what he told me just before it was to begin."
"And how is Lord Ashford, has he been well?" Old Ruben was a kind enough man, while his Granddaughter Millicent could be rather annoying at times, she has always been a well meaning girl as well. No doubt age has only made her more devious in her antics.
"Indeed, and he plans on showing how he has never left the game even after all these years. Needless to say, his support, along with all of the others I have gained will prove valuable when the time comes to properly make our stand." Lelouch says.
"You are referring to the support you have gained with the Black Knights, right Zero?" And while Nunnally, Jeremiah, and the Maid they have with tense up somewhat, Lelouch however is perfectly calm and composed. As befitting the 'Man of Miracles' as some have begun to call his alter-ego.
"Indeed, I have gained the support of Kyoto, Lord Robert of House Stradfield, and Nelly and Euphie are willing to support us with their own forces and knights when we are ready." He replies, to the confusion of all the others as they aren't aware of what we both know.
"Can't say I am surprised, when Zero announced to the world his 'Black Knights' I couldn't help but be reminded what we shared of our names for our Knightly Orders all those years ago. And really, who else but you could pull off such feats." I tell him. And then the others begin to understand, and calm down. Knowing we are allied in all matters.
"I was never afraid of you being a fake Marrybell, I could sense that you are the same one I had shared such information to all those years ago, the fact you hold no issue with them is enough to prove that alone." Ah, so he's already dealt with a few...
"You've already encountered some?" Oldrin asks.
"Yes, I wouldn't be surprised some amount of rumor's would persist about the Lord of Wraith's somehow 'replacing' those who seem problematic who would all of a sudden be more pliable to it's way of thinking. I've already killed one, and wish I could have killed the other..." He says with a fair amount of anger in his voice. And really it doesn't surprise me that the Clovis that was killed by Zero was nothing more but a fake. I can only imagine who the other one is.
"It's Schneizel if you must know." I hear the voice of Euphie say, turning around to see her and Nelly, along with their personal Knights, Suzaku Kururgi and Gilbert G.P. Guliford. And the amount of contained anger and rage within Euphie's voice is concerning me. However I suppose they will tell us about it later...
"That so? I was wondering why Kanon stopped being around him all of a sudden." I say aloud, to the wide eyes of Lelouch and Nunnally, as both of them knew Kanon and Schneizel were never that far apart.
"Of course! Must be because he hates how the version he knew wound up being so useless, that or some sort of twisted way of letting the one he is replacing be with the one man he cares for..." Lelouch says with a smack to the forehead. As if he figured out something that I just can't understand...
"Anyhow, point is. I feel as if things are nearing a point we can afford to hold off no longer Sisters. When I woke up this morning, I felt as if I had a fair bit of ash in my mouth..." He says, to we all shared a grim expression, knowing that whenever Lelouch felt the taste of Ash, it meant something really bad was going to happen...
"What do you suppose will happen then?" I ask, concern for my siblings as they are some of the only real family I have left right now...
Mother, Sister, please give me the strength to see this through!
"I'm assuming you have already announced your plans Euphie?" Lelouch asks her, to which she nods in response. "Then it is simple, the Lord of Wraith's will no doubt plan on using such an event to cause a massacre, be it by 'replacing' Euphemira with one that would have no qualms with mass murder, or by unleashing some sort of horror upon where the event is being held. Cornelia, make sure the soldiers you will assign there are your most loyal and diligent, and prepare for all matter of events, and all of you be mindful and aware of anything odd or suspicious. If something doesn't feel right, do not hesitate to shoot to kill or otherwise do whatever it takes. So long as you have a good sense that such actions would not result in whatever might happen to occur too early. The worst thing we could have is something running amok outside where it is intended to be released." And while part of me wishes Lelouch was being too paranoid, sadly I have to admit he is right on all accounts, if only because the things we are dealing with are on a level far beyond what could be considered 'normal'.
Oldrin holds my hand tightly, and I return her grasp in kind. "We will do all we can Lelouch. Just make sure to be careful as can be." I tell him.
He gives me a sad smile. "Truth be told, I don't know if I can keep such a promise in this case."
It is worrying, however there is little else we can do...
Euphemira P.O.V.
Today was, something...
I am saddened by the fact the SAZ will end up becoming yet another massacre in all likelihood. However, there is little else we can do to oppose such things...
I worry the Wraiths themselves might make an appearance. Seeing them once was enough...
OW! What was that.
Wait, a Dart?
Oh no! I have t-
"Oh don't worry, it won't kill you." Wait a second, that's-
THUD!
Ranger P.O.V.
They have begun to make their move...
'I hate how we can't break them out just yet!'
Give it a moment, let the fools think they are certain in their deception, once the time draws near, then we shall strike...
'I know... I just, I don't want them to suffer again!'
Nor do I. However, there is little else we can do for the time being.
'So many will die, only it's worse than just simply getting shot to death...'
My lighter half was wise to prepare for all manner of things. No doubt he is planning for what they have in mind to bring terror to them all...
'At least it's just an imperfect copy, and not the real thing...'
I can't say that really is much better. Still, I hope they can have the stomach to endure such horror's...
A/N: And that is it for this chapter. Needless to say, I was a bit unsure what to do with Naoto and some of the others of his group. However I think having him pair up with Inoue is a nice little thing. Not to mention it wouldn't be that much out there. Given how he was the head of the group for the most part. I'd imagine he would be rather close to all of them on some level. Kallen is a given, being his little sis. Ohgi, who is pretty much as close to him as Suzaku is to Lelouch in terms of friendship. And while the other guys might not have as much, I'd imagine Inoue being the only other woman in the group would make for a rather, interesting dynamic between all of them. Who's to say Inoue might not have had feelings for her group's leader? That and it would also make a nice mirror between the two siblings in a way. Anyhow, next chapter is going to be rather intense to put it mildly, I'll try to keep details to a minimum. And trust me when I say you will all thank me for doing that when you find out just what the Lord of Wraith's plans to unleash to all attending the SAZ. It is something that Lelouch and Kallen have seen in their old lives, even if it was just seen through the lens of Fiction and nothing more. Wouldn't change the fact that it will be enough to leave them rattled...
Anyhow, Till next time!
