Chapter 40: Reciprocating His Feelings
As soon as the intercom clicks on first thing in the morning, a yawn resonates throughout the building, startling those who were still asleep awake. "Good morning everyone," Principal Brimestone drawls, not sounding like his usual happy-go-lucky self. "This is a short announcement," he sighs. "I'm holding a meeting before dinner to discuss the information I've been given from Mr. Valentine, do not forget and do not be late. That is all." The protests of the students are faintly heard from within their rooms once the intercom shuts off.
Removing the sheets that covered his midriff and on downward, Kyle sits up rubbing the sleep from his eyes then gets out of bed to flip the ceiling light on. After doing so, he turns around to see his two roommates still in a deep sleep. Feeling a small tug at the corner of his lips, he approaches Kenny's bed and pulls the covers off of him.
"C'mon, it's time to get up."
Kenny groans. "Gimme another hour..." His eyes still closed, he quickly grabs and pulls the sheets over his entire body, curling up into a cocoon.
"Mr. DeLorne will kill you if you're late to his class."
"...Five more minutes then."
Kyle shakes his head, forgetting how annoying it was to wake Kenny up nearly every morning. Although he did miss it. He never realized until just the day before yesterday after completely patching things up with the blonde how emotionally empty this room felt without him. Kyle is really happy that everything has been settled between them, and he hopes things will remain the same even when Tweek fully acknowledges his feelings for him, and they eventually become a...
"Pfft, you're bluuushing~"
Grimacing and willing the heat in his cheeks to go away, Kyle moves on to Tweek's bed, feeling his features soften on impulse upon seeing his sleeping form. He looks a bit tense albeit peaceful at the same time, Kyle is reluctant to disrupt his slumber. Alas, he has to, can't have him getting in trouble also.
Kyle gently nudges Tweek's shoulder. "Time to wake up," he says in a similar tone. It takes a few moments, but Tweek shows signs of waking up.
"Already showing favoritism, huh?" Shuffling soon follows after Kenny's slightly muffled statement.
Kyle looks back to see his friend emerging from his blanket cocoon. "You were the first person I tried to wake up," he points out.
"Yeah, but I didn't see you be a butthole to Tweek," Kenny grumbles, scratching his head. He enters his shared bathroom, closing the door behind him.
Kyle returns his attention back to Tweek, seeing his eyes halfway open now. Kyle tells him that they have to get ready for class minus the nudging, but Tweek was unable to comprehend his words.
With his head feeling unpleasantly heavy and muddled, the only thing Tweek hears are the echoing bits of statements dancing around within his mind from his dream. Should he even refer to it as such anymore? Either way, meeting Shadow just for him to tell Tweek that he has to come up with some kind of punishment for the vampire hunter as well as wondering what Shadow could've possibly done for Luke in the past was extremely taxing. If Shadow hadn't of forced him out of his subconscious to get some sleep, Tweek wouldn't have been able to do that on his own. Yet he feels utterly drained, like all he had been doing was lay in bed with his eyes closed throughout the night. Not really resting at all.
Sliding his eyes closed with a light, exhausted sigh, Tweek lets his brain rest. Even though his head feels like it weighs a ton, he thankfully doesn't have a headache.
Kyle frowns, noticing how weary the blonde looks all of a sudden. He hopes he's not sick. "Tweek what's wrong?"
Tweek is silent for some seconds, recounting the warning given to him from Shadow last night as he readies his vocal cords. "I just..." he pauses to clear his throat, opening his eyes partly again. "I don't..have the energy to get up right now..."
Kyle's lips go into a line as he studies Tweek's naturally pale features, he tenderly moves blonde bangs back to place a palm over Tweek's forehead. He's a little bit warm. "Hmm, you don't feel ill?" Tweek responds with a low "No, not really". Kyle removes his hand, and begins to ponder. Tweek ate dinner with them last night, and was reminded to drink some blood so the lack of those two necessities aren't the reasons for him being like this. However no other causes come to mind, leaving Kyle to drop the issue and hope Tweek gets better soon on his own. "Alright well, get as much rest as you can. I'll just let your teachers know that you aren't feeling well."
Tweek musters up a small smile to show Kyle that he is very thankful of his consideration, then closes his eyes. Kyle feels his lips copying Tweek's own, but more affectionately. He leaves Tweek to regain his strength, realizing as he prepares to go to his own classes that Kenny hadn't left the bathroom for awhile.
...
It is five minutes later when Kyle and Kenny leave the room, one of them turns off the light and darkness quickly takes it's place. If it weren't for the many voices out in the hallway, it would've been dead silent.
Tweek, unaware that every muscle in his body was stiff from him not moving, exhales through his nostrils. He squirms around to loosen his rigid muscles, which only takes a few moments then he opens his eyes. His view of the ceiling eventually becomes clear without him having to do a thing, and he just stares at it without interest. He actually wants to sleep, like really badly, but the thought of seeing Shadow again - to remind him of his perturbing task - invigorates his body with a strong sense of dread to keep him awake. But a sudden flare of anger ignites inside of him.
"...This is bullshit..." He thought that with the narrow of his eyes and the clench of his fists.
If Shadow knows Luke, then why not have him do it? Tweek is fairly certain that Luke would come up with some kind of sick, torturous method in no time. He's just that much of a heartless asshole.
Sighing out in weary indignation, Tweek turns over on his side, the pitch black curtains of the window that leaves enough wall space holding his irritated gaze. The anger is soon knocked out of him when he feels and hears his stomach demanding to be fed, he groans. Whether it craves for food, blood or both Tweek isn't in the mood to get up and go down to the cafeteria, especially since Kyle is going to tell his teachers about his reason of absence. It would be really bad if one of his teachers caught him out and about. He then wonders how Kyle will tell his first, third, and fourth period teachers about his condition, but soon remembers the redhead scanning over his schedule back when they went to retrieve him a new one from the counseling office. Mainly to ask Tweek if they were his right classes, students' schedules had been incorrectly assigned to others before. It was a good thing Tweek memorized all of his classes beforehand-
"I...like you..."
Tweek's eyes enlarge in shock, feeling his face heating up. Why the hell did his brain all of a sudden replay only those three words? He already knows Kyle likes him, for however long 'quite some time' is since he hasn't really been in this school for too long.
But...he supposes it's a good thing, focusing on this will further keep him awake and oblivious to his hungry stomach.
He finds it so hard to believe that after first meeting Kyle and thinking he was nothing but an anti-social asshole, said teen would unexpectedly develop feelings for him. Someone who's crazy for coffee and paranoid of the tiniest things. Tweek wonders what Kyle even sees in him. Is it just his looks? That's all he has going for him, hell even the letter he'd received back home pointed that out, although it was a lie to bring him here. But he's not disheartened at the fact. So if Kyle is only interested in his looks, Tweek would accept that. He also finds Kyle very attractive, and now that he's thought about it whenever Kyle's hair isn't in a ponytail, he looks...so mature..and beautiful. Tweek cringes at how cheesy his description of the redhead was, but he understands why Kenny likes him, more than just a best friend. Though it's primarily not towards just his handsomeness.
Once you truly get to know Kyle, your perception of him will change immensely - that Tweek knows for absolute certain. Once you get past his seemingly unapproachable wall, you'll soon realize that he's actually a genuinely caring, somewhat shy, fearless, and strong-willed person.
Those are all what Tweek sees in him now.
His face softening into a small smile, Tweek bends his knees as he grips at his chest. "Guess..I have an answer now." He stays in that position, and closes his eyes, finally managing to doze off after a couple of seconds.
Much to his dismay...
"Aww, I'm hurt," Shadow's deep toned words filled with mock distress are the first to greet Tweek's ears. Next is the field of snow and grey clouds, no snowdrops fluttering down. This place is starting to become a commonplace within Tweek's dreams it seems - whenever it concerns Shadow at least. "To think you were so reluctant to see me, after all the help I've given you ever since we first met."
..How the hell did he know...?
As a nervous drop of sweat trails down Tweek's cheek, the boy turns around to face the man. "What do you want this time?" If he's just here to remind him about what they discussed last night, Tweek will really be pissed. He already doesn't want to do it, just the mere thought of it puts him on edge.
Shadow chuckles while shaking his head, finding Tweek's anxious demanding tone amusing in a way. "Don't worry I plan to make this quick, and this time please do get some actual rest afterwards." Tweek so badly wants to shout in a fit of anger that it was his fault that he couldn't sleep properly in the first place, but since the guy said this wasn't going to take long he holds his tongue. "There's been a slight change of plans, which is why I want you to be thoroughly energized for the days to come. It seems someone in your school doesn't trust Vincent either, and I want you to figure out who they are. Here's a hint- he's one out of the three men, excluding Vincent of course, that were with said man at the time of you spotting him. Keep in mind that you're on a time limit, two days remain so once you solve that..." A cold sweat breaks out on Tweek's face when he notices an eerie shift in Shadow's demeanor. Tweek feels very fortunate that he can't see the unsettling smile that is surely spreading on Shadow's hidden face. "This is what's gonna happen instead...—"
Tweek scrunches up his face, indicating that the dream has ended and he is about to open his eyes. When he does, the first thing to enter his gaze is a ray of blurry amber lighting along the ceiling. He could've sworn he fell asleep on his side. He blinks three times slowly, clearly still tired and the heaviness in his head feels almost unbearable now. With his vision now cleared, Tweek stares ahead, sensing a presence within the quiet room but is too distraught to fully notice the person.
...This altered plan of Shadow's is worse than his previous one. He didn't really specify if Tweek still had to form a punishment plan for the hunter, and that was the main issue that made him antsy. But now a new problem has arisen - he has to recall the three guys' identities that were with Vincent. He knows for sure that one of them was the Principal, and the other was Mr. Edgewood thanks to their hair. All that's left is the man that had long dark hair that was tied into a ponytail. Tweek had never seen that person before, so even if he had of gotten a good look at his face, he wouldn't have recognized him.
So either Principal Brimestone, Mr. Edgewood, or the long haired noirette is the one skeptical of Vincent...and Tweek is to team up with him...
Even though Shadow explained it to him, Tweek sill can't grasp how it will work.
"Ahh dammit..."
Closing his eyes and covering them with his arm, Tweek lets out a deep groan. A headache is definitely coming to surface after all of that thinking. All of this pressure..it's too much. It's too fucking much to handle...
"Oh you're awake." Tweek flinches, forgetting - again - about the now known individual in the room. Simply hearing his voice was almost successful at putting him at ease..For some reason, Tweek doesn't want him to see him in this state. Though him being on the brink of death, twice, is nothing compared to this. After a short while, Tweek feels someone standing beside his bed. "Are you still feeling weak?"
Tweek bites his lower lip and clenches a fist, effected by the twinge that pierced his chest at the boy's worried tone. Not trusting his voice, he lowers his arm, opening his eyes to see Kyle looking down at him with a concerned frown. It only deepens when they make eye contact, Tweek doesn't realize the blur nor the liquid trailing down his cheeks from his eyes until he sniffles.
"..Kyle..." His lips begin to quiver, fighting back the urge to cry his heart out. He blinks in shock, however, when Kyle abruptly wraps his arms around his neck; his head lifted a bit and supported by the redhead's limbs.
Hearing Tweek mutter out his name in such a broken voice, pained him. Whether it was emotionally or physically didn't matter, Kyle can't stand seeing the blonde like this.
Approximately close to a minute later, Kyle pulls back just as Tweek was melting in his embrace, and relishing the fresh Spring-like fragrance he emitted. Before he opens his eyes, he keeps them closed with a slight wince when he feels a gentle thumb wipe the tears from both of his cheeks. When Kyle is done, Tweek uses an arm to rid away the tears lingering in his eyes, blinking them open and instantly widening them at the closeness of Kyle's face. Lime-green orbs staring straight into shiny blue-green.
"What's wrong? Why'd you suddenly start crying?" Kyle nips his bottom lip remorsefully. "Y-you aren't in any pain, are you?"
Tweek shuts his eyes momentarily as he shakes his head. "I'm fine," he says in a hoarse whisper, glancing away.
Kyle frowns, obviously not believing him. "You're lying."
Tweek makes a face, feeling regretful for blatantly lying to Kyle's face. But he doesn't say anything else, because he may end up spilling everything. Not just about his meetups with Shadow in his dreams, but as well as his recently discovered feelings.
..Wait.
This is..actually Tweek's chance. He can tell Kyle how he feels about him, right now. It's just the two of them in here, where Kenny is at the moment is a mystery. It's best to make use of this opportunity before Kenny shows up.
But that was easier planned than done...
With a great burst of nervousness swelling up inside of him, Tweek swallows some of the nervousness that formed a lump in his throat down then meets Kyle's calm yet troubled gaze. "You're right, I'm not fine..." He pauses, appearing hesitant as he pushes himself up in a sitting position. Kyle helps him. "I..don't know how to go about this, but..." A vibrant red colors his cheeks. Taking a deep breath, Tweek gathers up enough courage to say, "Kyle, I like you."
It takes a long moment, but when Kyle comprehends the last four words that left Tweek's mouth he makes a face of absolute shock. He doesn't hear Luke commenting that it was about damn time. He blinks twice. "Huh? Tweek you..like me?" His tone did not hide how baffled he was. He heard Tweek right, didn't he? Tweek really said the three words he'd been yearning to hear ever since his own confession, didn't he?
"I know it's hard to believe, but yes Tweeky legit said he likes you. Now quit lookin' like a fucking fish outta the water already."
Feeling tremendously embarrassed, Tweek looks elsewhere but at Kyle's dumbfounded face. "Y-yeah, I do." This was not the reaction he expected from Kyle, but he guesses it's understandable considering he hardly ever showed any indications of liking the vampire back. But just how long is he going to keep staring at him like that for? It's getting really unnerving.
Suddenly, a palm places itself on top of Tweek's fist. He looks over at Kyle, feeling a tingly sensation course through his body at the authentic, happy smile on his face. The light in his eyes practically makes them look like peridots.
"As much as I wanna know the reason for you suddenly liking me back, I'll save it for when you're better." He pauses for a couple of seconds, fond of Tweek's adorableness. "Can I kiss you?"
The heat in Tweek's face increases to a point where he feels like he's coming down with a fever, how the hell did Kyle say that with a bright face? Nevertheless, Tweek accepts with the nod of his head, and braces himself when Kyle leans in.
When their lips eventually connect, they both realize the immediate difference in this kiss than in the first one they shared. Both of their feelings are being returned to the other, not just one-sidedly. The only thing on Tweek's mind is how good this feels, how Kyle's cold, soft lips are being warmed by his own. He's surprised at how well he's kissing back, having not an ounce of experience. Then it suddenly occurs to him that his first kiss was taken by that bastard Luke. He quickly disregards that ever happening as to not get angered, he's just going to believe that Kyle was the one who actually stole it since the lips belong to his body. Tweek almost wants to laugh at how accepting he is of that thought.
Kyle, on the other hand, is trying to fathom that just this morning he was thinking about them becoming a couple one day. To think that day would actually be today. He is so happy right now, it's been too long since he last experienced this much joy. And it's all thanks to the person before him. Even though they had a very rough start, on top of Luke making things worse with his bold behavior, their relationship gradually began to take a better turn. And what's happening in the present is all that matters now anyway.
They separate for air just in time as the door swings open. Silence. A horrified Tweek and a composed-looking Kyle look over at the individual in the doorway, whom is staring right back at them. They raise an eyebrow.
"What's goin' on?"
Kyle gives Tweek's hand a comforting squeeze before pulling away. He shoots the bewildered blonde a small smile. "I'll tell you later Ken." He grabs a cup from off Tweek's nightstand and gets up, making his way towards the door. "Gonna go warm up Tweek's coffee, and get him something to eat." He walks out leaving an awkward air in the room, and a frozen stiff Kenny. One thought goes through his mind.
"He..called me Ken..."
A faint blush and a smile creeps up on his face.
(A/n: Sorry it's not anything flashy or if it seemed rushed, but they're official now. Now I gotta work on the other pairings, Stenny is a must lol I hope you enjoyed and the next chapter will be up soon)
