She sits up immediately upon hearing her alarm go off, remnants of playtime last night replaying in her mind's eye. Her laptop pushed to the opposite end of the bed, her shirt on the floor and panties seemingly missing.
The first time they done this, she blushed and giggled madly at what had occurred. She chanced a look at Levi whose head was thrown back and breathing heavy and cursing. Three days since they had been intimate until this happened.
Petra doesn't blush anymore. It had been like the first time she was intimate with him at all. She knew his feelings that night but that didn't stop the infuriating blush from reaching her ears. He thought it was cute. He told her the next morning he was nervous as well. He wanted their first time together to special. She luxuriates in the warm feelings she associates with Levi. Coming back to reality, she scours the blankets and sheets for her phone, knowing it got lost somewhere.
After five minutes she finds it and hurries to plug it in before rushing to the bathroom to shower. Upon entering, she finds Clive sitting the tub slapping her loofah around.
"No Clive! That isn't a toy!" She scolds, reaching forward to grab the cloth ball from his grasp. His tail sways and he looks up at her, confused. Once it is out of his reach, she reaches for the big ball of floof and sits him on the floor. "I have to get ready for work."
Petra dresses in a black knee length sweater dress and burgundy colored leggings and reaches for her pea coat.
The seasons in the city were quick to change, there hadn't been a lot of time for the weather to slowly change. Instead, all four seasons happened in one day. She ponders if Levi misses the change of seasons instead of the constantly 75 degree weather or warmer.
The elevator doors slowly open and Petra is confronted with Zoe standing there, her purse in one hand and coffee in the other. She's smirking as she always does when she is about to ask inappropriate questions about Petra's love life.
"So how did your video dinner date with Levi go?" Zoe asks as she waggles her eyebrows suggestively.
Petra shakes her head playfully, "Don't you have a boyfriend you should be cooking dinner for?"
"I did. I'm asking about your date?"
She follows Petra to her office and rambles on, "I set you two up. The least you can do is give me details!"
Petra flips the light switch and steps in and over to her desk before turning around. "Our date was good. He had bbq beef and I ate a steak burrito."
Zoe's brow furrows and she purses her lips, confused and asks, "Is that code for he did some crazy acrobatics and you have a stripper pole installed?"
Petra's jaw drops slightly before she regains her composure, "No we actually ate our dinner." Of course there was some sexy antics but Zoe didn't need to know that. It isn't her business.
Rolling her eyes and sipping her coffee, she scoffs, "Boring. You're young! Act like it!"
Petra stops at Zoe's words and raises an eyebrow at her, no words needed.
"Going now, boss." She disappears out of Petra's sight.
She knows that Zoe means no harm. She's sure that the woman has tried every number of kama sutra there is and more. She'll probably tell her what happens, but not at work.
Looking on her desk she sees a stack of what appears to resumes and frowns. The board is serious, it seems. They asked her once before why she didn't have an assistant because of all the work she does. With Levi away, she put in overtime at home which hadn't gone unnoticed by her employers. They explained the assistant would help her get through the work by taking their fair share and reporting their findings back to her so she could decide what would make the papers and what wouldn't.
The corners of her lips twitched at the idea but what she could do? Argue and risk her job? No, she smiled politely and agreed that she overworked herself to do a good job.
"I guess I should begin calling them in." She mutters with a sigh.
"Tell me about yourself." Petra asked looking down at the resume in front of her. She began interviews earlier this morning. The first three were okay, nothing special to coo over or tell anyone about.
"I am the eldest of three and I saw this posting on the internet. I don't have much work experience but then again, every responsibility listed is something I am very capable of doing."
"Any desire to write or work more in depth in this industry?" Petra looked up at the young man sitting across from her. He didn't look nervous, but he was young enough he should be in college right now. He wears his hair in a particular style that she isn't' quite sure about. She can't stop looking at it before diverting her eyes to his resume once more.
"If there is room to learn more, yes. If this is the job, I'll be happy just being your assistant."
"Favorite book?"
"Grimm Fairytales, Ms."
"You have quite the taste. The original tales are darker than Disney makes them out to be, though."
"They should've been retold in original quality but alas, one can dream." He says eloquently and smiles warmly.
Petra smiles back at his good nature. Was it enough? Did he plan on going to school at some point? "Tell me, do you have plans to attend college at all?"
"I don't know."
"I really don't want to get your hopes up here. We want someone with more education, but you exhibit good qualities. You passed the written portion of the interview with flying colors. You know how to talk to people and handle difficult situations." She explains her overall assessment of his capabilities as best as she could. "HR will be in touch with you, Michael if we decide to move forward with your application."
They both stand and Michael is still smiling at her.
"Thank you for meeting with me today, Ms. Ral." They shake hands before he left her office. She sighs, returning his paperwork to his assigned folder and plops down in her chair.
She opens the desk drawer and pulls out her phone and checks her texts. A smirk plasters itself on her face, a few from Levi.
You're a brat but I love you.
By the way, last night was hot.
I hate my boss. He is a dick. The fourth floor has water leaks everywhere.
"Petra baby, Nanaba is in town. Want to meet her later tonight?" Zoe stood in the door frame, iPhone in hand, looking at Petra expectantly. Petra jumps out of her skin at Zoe's unexpected appearance. She puts her phone down slowly, and nods.
Nanaba left two right before Levi did to see some family. Mike stayed behind due to work. Nanaba is a hoot, if she's anything. Although their drunken adventure that one night some time ago permanently scarred Petra. She doesn't drink nearly that much anymore.
"Nanaba is ready to party."
"You're going to drink too much." Petra says flatly which causes Zoe to giggle.
"I promised Erwin I wouldn't have more than three drinks." Zoe mimics Erwin's deep voice as she explains to Petra. "He doesn't believe that family that called me last night about a story involving cows and possession." It is Petra's turn to make a face as she listens.
Erwin has a hard time believing a farmer called at 2 am to report their farm animals were experiencing demonic possession. Especially when Zoe was downing Vodka as she finished an article on what she believed was false reporting of Roswell. The stern look Erwin wore as he listened was enough to quell excessive thirst for the drink.
"It is rather hard to believe animals can become possessed, but the article on Roswell being false went over amazingly well."
"I know! I got a few calls from restricted numbers asking me weird questions."
"Men in black?"
"Petra!" Zoe whines. "You don't believe the government called me?" She trudges over to the nearest chair and plops down. Petra shrugs keeping her lips shut tightly on the subject. Zoe watched curiously before the grin breaks out on her face once more. "Ready to talk about last night?"
"You're a pervert." Petra scoffs, putting her phone back in her desk drawer.
"You'll tell me or else!" Zoe mocks, leaning forward in her chair.
"Or else what?" Petra asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Excuse me, Ms. Ral?" Both women turned to look at the young woman standing at the door, Historia Reiss. She is the general secretary of the company and knows everything. That is mostly because the board members keep her well informed. She is about as tall as Petra, lean, cool blonde hair that frames her round face and big blue eyes.
"Yes, Ms. Reiss?" Petra asks, changing her playful tone to sound more serious.
"Do you want to hold interviews for the rest of the day?"
"I think there is one more?"
"Actually, she left earlier. We could start on tomorrow's interviews this afternoon."
Horrified at the thought, Petra shakes her head, "No, let's keep to our schedules. Thank you." Having to do this type of thing for the rest of the day while she has other work isn't the best idea in the world.
Historia nods understanding and walks off. Zoe shudders and shakes her head, "Historia is unnerving."
"She's efficient though, I have no complaints about her." Petra grabs the remaining stack of resumes and places them to the side of her desk and wakes her computer from sleep. She senses Zoe hasn't left and sure enough, the woman is sitting at the edge of her seat, waiting on Petra to tell her something.
"Okay fine!" Petra says caving to the silent pressure. "We do more than just eat sometimes."
"What is this 'more' that you speak of?" Zoe asks smirking at her.
Looking toward the open door, she sees nobody walking by or anyone near the door and leans forward, quietly hissing, "We scratch the itch, okay." Pleased with Petra's admission, Zoe fist pumps the air and giggles like a child learning a devious secret. "You're terrible," Petra tells her in exasperation.
Zoe hops to her feet and leaves Petra to her work.
Work came and went quickly. Zoe and Petra piled into an Uber once Petra called for one and found themselves at a hole-in-the-wall bar where Nanaba stood outside waiting for them.
She greeted them with a hug each, her excitement is palpable. Petra can tell that whatever was going on with her family, she didn't let it show. She appeared just as lively as ever.
Once inside they found seats at the bar and settled in.
Two drinks in and Nanaba was laughing loudly along with Zoe. Petra had been telling them how quiet the apartment become without Levi and his own antics which made her resort to adopting Clive.
"You adopted a huge ass cat and named him Clive?" Nanaba rolled her eyes playfully, "Should've named him Bart."
"Bart?" Petra giggles as she sips her water.
"You should have found a Sphynx."
"Why the fuck does she want a bald pussy?" Nanaba asks crudely, clearly either not caring about other patrons or forgetting their surroundings. Petra's face heats up and she looks down embarrassed. "They look like freaks!" Several patrons of the bar turned and looked at the trio sitting in the booth. Even a few waiters grinned hearing the word, 'pussy.'
"No they don't and they're hypoallergenic." Zoe corrected her. "Did you tell Levi?"
"He knows I adopted one. Yes."
"Boring shit!" Nanaba down another shot of vodka. "When are you going to see Levi?"
Petra laughs and tells her, "He will be home soon."
"Smash festival 2019!" Hanji teased.
"Bump uglies festival 2019."
"Of course he won't like sharing you with a pet. Plus, he's OCD about his surroundings being clean." Hanji offered and looked down at her glass.
"Knock it off!" Petra states imitating Levi's stoicism and turns to Nanaba, "I have never teased you about your relationship with Mike. He's like Godzilla tall." She then turns to her right and glares at Hanji. "I can definitely tease you about Erwin and his bushy eyebrows and that tone he uses when he gets serious."
"Oh relax."
"Yeah, relax! We're joking."
Hanji stretches her arms over her head and yawns, "Alright, its getting late and I have plans for my weekend that begin early in the morning."
"That's right you're taking a personal day."
"I have to get going as well." Petra said looking down at her phone. "More interviews in the morning."
"Good luck girl." Nanaba offers. "I'm gonna stick around to sober up and head back home too. I need my Mike."
