Scott wakes up while holding onto Maddy who is snuggled into his side, her previous uncomfortableness regarding their state of lack of clothing nowhere visible by the way her body presses against him all over, their legs even having gotten mixed together with one of hers wrapped over his.
"Maddy." Scott says softly after looking around once, seeing no sign of danger.
"Maddy." He repeats quietly, moving his hand over her bare back in slow, gentle circles.
"Mmmh." She sighs contently, before here eyes flutter open and she freezes up, her body stiffening and Scott chuckles.
"No need to be embarrassed. I slept great as well." Scott tells her honestly.
"Sorry. I must've moved in my sleep." She apologizes flustered, rolling off him quickly and leaning up with her arms behind her.
Scott wordlessly leans up and cups her cheek, turning her to face him before he kisses her passionately, Maddy relaxing into the kiss and his warm hand more than she'd like to admit.
"Do I scare you that much?" Scott asks half worried, half teasing.
"No... I just, this is not how I pictured our first time sleeping together OK? Even if nothing naughty happened this is still something new for me." Maddy tells him.
"Oh? I'm the first boy who slept over?" Scott asks with a small grin.
"Yeah." She admits while blushing.
"That really... makes me happy." Scott says, pulling her close and kissing her along her neck.
"Don't play with me." She replies laughing a bit and pushes him away.
"I'm not playing." Scott tells her, wrapping an arm around her waist, pulling her back onto the leaves and leans above her, staring into her brown eyes with his now red glowing eyes.
"Scott?" She asks nervously.
"Yes?" He asks, not moving, just hovering above her while staring at her intensely.
"What are you doing?" She asks, poking his firm abs with her index finger.
"Enjoying your presence and not taking you for granted." Scott replies, sliding one hand up her arm teasingly slow, before reaching her cheek and brushes over it with his thumb.
"Scott... We need to head out soon. My family will get worried." Maddy says breathlessly after gulping from nervousness.
"If that's what you want." Scott says, standing up and giving her room to sit up herself, looking at his fit body and his eyes which soon turn back to their warm, brown color.
"Here. You should drink something before we head out. I'll untangle these." Scott says taking their blanket of clothes and unties them, holding out Maddy's pants, shirt and jacket for her, which she quickly accepts and puts on after having taken a few swigs from the water canteen he handed her.
Once the two are dressed Scott is about to step out of the jeep before stopping and opens a pouch on his cargo pants, retrieving a small wooden whistle.
"Take this." Scott says, putting the item in her hand.
"What for?" She asks, accepting the whistle and raises it to her mouth.
"Don't blow that in here." Scott says quickly, putting his hand over her mouth before pulling it away with a quiet "sorry."
"What is this for?" She asks him, looking at the whistle intrigued.
"It will make a signal that's out of the normal hearing range of humans and if most dinosaurs." Scott explains.
"So, what is it for?" Maddy asks.
"So you can signal me. I can hear it from over a mile away." Scott tells her, closing her hand around the item gently.
"Why do I need it?" She asks.
"Because you're important to me and if we get separated, I need you to signal me where you are." He tells her, rubbing over her smaller hands lovingly.
"Thank you." She says softly, giving him a kiss on his cheek and stores the whistle in her pants pocket.
"You ready?" He asks, testing if the straps of her backpack are secure.
"Yes. Now let's go." She says, nodding.
The two then walk through the jungle for four hours, following the tracks left behind by the car the last day for the most part with Scott leading them.
"Hey Scott. I know you probably can keep walking three days straight, but I need a break." Maddy tells his boyfriend.
"5 more minutes, OK? We're close to a cave I often use we will be safe there." Scott tells her, taking her hand in his gently and leads her to the cave, which is in the side of a pretty big mountain, roughly the same mass as an average skyscraper, just not as high.
"Here we are." Scott says, rolling away a tree stump he uses to block off the cave and steps inside with her, rolling it back into place halfway, leaving a gap large enough for them to barely squeeze through.
"Wow. This place is cool." Maddy says, looking around in amazement, the walls glowing in various colors from either light hitting crystals or glowing plants growing on the walls.
"Yeah, I thought so too back then." Scott says with a small smile.
"Back then? How long have you known about this place?" She asks.
"A while, sometime after the 4th wave came through the portal I think." Scott tells her, brushing dirt of a stone slab, offering her to take a seat.
"You continue to surprise me. I really would have imagined you to go for more of a armory vibe kind of hideout, stocked with weapons and utilities for survival, not... something this beautiful." Maddy says, seeing a small stream of water and listens to it splashing into the bathtub sized puddle in the cave, going over to it she looks back at Scott for his OK.
"It's safe to drink." Scott tells her, joining her at the water and fills their canteens.
"Thanks." She says smiling and gathers some water in her hands, raising them up and drinks from them.
Maddy sees Scott smiling while staring at her, the canteen he's holding underwater long filled.
"What?" She asks, looking back at him expectantly, brushing some of her hair behind her ear self-consciously.
"Nothing. You're just very beautiful." Scott says softly, before closing up the canteen and bringing it over to their backpacks which are leaning on a wall next to the large, flat stone slab they were sitting on.
"We are only 2 hours out from Nova now." Scott tells her, waiting for her to join him on the slab again and after she splashed some water in her face, scrubbing it a bit clean she joins him, sitting down and leaning back, looking up at the beautifully glowing ceiling, watching the reflected light from the crystals dance on the cave's roof.
"I could come here to watch this everyday." She says relaxing and forgetting about her worries and concern for her family for the moment.
"Can I do something? I promise you will like this, just forget about your embarrassment for now OK?" Scott asks, looking down at the relaxing girl.
"Sure. I trust you." She says after a small pause where she stared up into his eyes.
Scott lifts her legs onto the slab as well, before taking off her shoes, socks and rolling up her pant legs, receiving a quizzical stare from his girlfriend.
"Just relax OK. I won't do anything you don't want me to." Scott promises, pushing her raised shoulders back gently before his hands explore her legs and start giving her a relaxing massage, making her pant hotly and mewl occasionally.
"Now, if you weren't so shy I would probably continue and give you a full body massage, but let's just do that another day." Scott tells her teasingly, giving her a kiss on her cheek while she blushes up a storm, but doesn't move, enjoying his strong fingers pushing against her aching leg muscles just right.
The two stay in the cave for an hour, half of which Scott massages Maddy's legs and after the request her back as well, although she refused to take off her shirt again while lying face down on the slab.
After their break they continue going back towards Nova, arriving there in the late midday, noticing a decent amount of destruction in the camp as well as a large patch of burned grass in front of the gates.
"Man Taylor, I'm gone a day and you try to light our home on fire?" Scott asks jokingly, the commander coming over to greet the teen while Jim rushes over with Elisabeth and hug their daughter.
"The rest of the science team?" Taylor asks, noticing the absence of the other 5 members who left with Maddy.
"Dead before the night hit. I think carno, but could've been something else." Scott answers, while looking over to the happily smiling family with a bit of jealousy.
"Why did she survive?" Taylor asks surprised.
"She believed in me." Scott answers with a small smile.
"Hey, it's great that you have a special lady, but don't you dare go soft on me soldier." Taylor tells Scott.
"And that coming from the man who begged me to find a girl so I quote, 'You give me a break once in a while.'." Scott says amused.
"Yeah, well Sixers broke in and stole that thing. Whatever is happening it can't be good." Taylor says.
"Yeah, probably but I don't get it if one of the sixers were the one who should receive the object, why didn't they use it back when they were in Nova?" Scott asks.
"I mean the dna code has to be for one of the sixers right?" Scott asks.
Taylor only shrugs wordlessly while making a mental note to check if his son left him any new messages on the mountain walls nearby.
"So what'd I miss? Is everything shot to hell?" Scott asks.
"Not anymore. We fixed it, but I'll catch you up another time." Taylor says, nodding behind Scott where Maddy is waiting patiently, her parents standing behind the girl, discussing something.
"Thanks." Scott says and bumps fist with the commander before going back over to the Shannons.
"Thank you for keeping our daughter safe." Elisabeth thanks Scott, hugging him tightly.
"Always." Scott replies, looking at Maddy with a smile, making the girl blush again.
"Come on." Maddy says taking his hand and leaving with him, while Jim looks on with a tired sigh.
"They are good for each other." Elisabeth tells her husband, leaning into him while looking at her happy daughter lead Scott through Terra Nova.
"I know but I don't like it. She's my little girl." Jim says, hugging his wife from behind.
"She's gonna become her own woman soon and we will need to get used to that idea." Elisabeth tells him.
5 minutes later Maddy pulls Scott with her into her house, with their parents at the command center and her little sister in school they should have the place to themselves, but are abruptly interrupted when they see and hear Skye and Josh flirting in the living room.
Maddy feels Scott tense up before the warmth of his hand disappears from hers and looks back, only to see him nowhere in sight.
"Hey. You're back." Josh says, coming over and gives his sister a relieved hug, Skye mirroring his action.
"Yeah." Maddy says smiling awkwardly.
"So what happened? Had to bare knuckle fight a slasher?" Josh asks jokingly.
"No. Nothing like that. We had a quiet way back." Maddy says.
"So they are all alive?" Skye asks relieved.
"No. I'm afraid not." Maddy says heavy heartedly.
"Huh?" Josh asks.
"Scott brought me back. The others... they didn't want to wait." Maddy says saddened.
"Why did you wait then? Staying alone can't be easy." Josh asks concerned.
"I knew he'd come for me." Maddy says smiling happily while rubbing the whistle Scott gave her.
"Well it's a relief to have you back. You should've seen Dad. Any more worry and he couldn't have tied his own shoes anymore." Josh jokes.
"So what happened anyways? Scott said something about a meteor?" Maddy asks, the teens filling her in with what they know, while Scott who was listening from his usual seat atop the fence heads back to Taylor's command center and gets caught up too.
