So good to be back!

Still subconsciously shaken up from her brief time stuck in that box the night before, one she'd fallen asleep, Jessie had clung to Buzz like a leech all night long. When he opened his eyes as the morning sun peeked in through the window, he realized her arms were firmly clasped around his chest from behind. He smiled and patted her hand then turned on his side and faced her, holding her close. She smiled in her sleep. Buzz kissed her forehead for good measure.

Woody woke with a jolt and blinked repeatedly, trying to rid himself of the bad dream he'd been so sure was real. He groaned and rubbed his face with his hand. That's right. They were safe at home, in Bonnie's room! He sighed heavily with relief. Then he heard a familiar squeak and his eyes popped open wide. He looked to his left and saw Wheezy standing there staring at him. "Wheezy," Woody smiled warmly, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Hey, Woody." Wheezy sighed with a small smile.

"You all right?"

"I'm fine." Wheezy nodded. "I was worried about you."

"Me? Well, you can relax, little partner. I'm fine." Woody said casually.

"You looked like you were having a nightmare," Wheezy mentioned.

"Oh...well, maybe I was. But it's nothing to worry about. I'm okay, really." Woody pasted a smile. Jiminy Cricket hopped on top of Woody's shoulder.

"You know," He said, "it's okay to admit when you need help, Sheriff. Everybody needs help once in a while. Even brave cowboys."

Woody chuckled sheepishly. He was trying to suppress the terrifying events of yesterday. Had it only been just yesterday?! It felt a lifetime ago and now all at the same time! "Thanks, fellas," Woody feebly grinned, "but you don't have to worry about me." He stretched and stood up. "Well, guess I better see how our friends are doing." The penguin and the cricket followed him.

"Sheriff, you're back!" Peanelope exclaimed.

"I sure am." Woody smiled. "We came back while you lil' partners were sleeping. Buzz and Jessie and our friends saved us!"

"Really? That's exciting! Tell us about it." Peate said.

"Uh, I think we'd better save that for later," Trixie spoke up as she appeared.

"Hey! Who's the new guy?" Peanelope asked, eyeing Wheezy and Jiminy.

"Oh, guys. This is Wheezy. He's a very old friend of ours. He was rescued too!" Woody announced proudly. "And now he's gonna live here with Bonnie and us."

"I know who you are!" Peate told Jiminy. "You're from that movie where the puppet kid's nose grew when he didn't tell the truth, and then he was swallowed by that gigantic whale!"

"Uh...yeah." Jiminy chuckled.

"Cool!" Peate cheered.

Jack had waken up, and when he stretched, he'd seen his princess was finally resting. "That's my Mitsy," He smiled and gently licked her face. "Pleasant dreams, little darling. I'll be back." Then he hopped off the bed.

"I can't believe I'm actually here, with you." Wheezy remarked.

"Aren't you happy, pal?" Slinky asked, concerned.

"I don't know. It's so surreal." Wheezy said.

"Aww, it'll be fine, Wheez!" Jessie nudged him. "We have tons of fun here, and Bonnie loves us as much as Andy ever did. Wait till she sees ya."

"You think she'll like me?"

"Absolutely." Buzz nodded. Then he looked at Woody. "You all right, cowboy?"

"I'm okay, Buzz." Woody nodded quietly.

"You had a really rough time of it yesterday." Buzz said. "Maybe you should take it easy and let your mind rest for a day."

"Thanks, Buzz. But I'm okay."

"Woody? Woody?!" Came a petrified screech from Bonnie's bed. The friends looked at each other. They knew it was Mitsy. Jack, Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and Jiminy came rushing up. "Woody?" Mitsy whimpered frightfully when they appeared.

"Yeah, Little Bit. I'm right here." Woody said encouragingly, grabbing her trembling arms.

"Are you okay?" Mitsy's lip trembled.

"Yeah. Don't worry about me, honey." Woody smiled, though he hated seeing how scared she looked.

"I...I guess I was dreaming." She sighed heavily. "It felt...so real!" She shivered. Jessie came to the princess and hugged her. Mitsy winced.

"Did I hurt you?" Jessie asked.

"Just that...I...I'm sore." Mitsy groaned meekly.

"You fellas give us some room." Jessie said. Jack was very reluctant to leave his charge when she was so distressed, but he obeyed.

"You got this, Jessie?" Buzz asked, unsure about whether he should leave or stay.

"You bet your boots I do," Jessie grinned.

"Okay. If you need anything, I'll come back." Buzz said. "You take it easy, Mitsy. Nobody is going to hurt you. You're safe." Mitsy feebly nodded then Buzz hopped down onto the floor to join the others.

"Here, I think you should lie back down." Jessie suggested, remembering the beatings the princess had been inflicted with the night before. She gently helped her friend lie back on Bonnie's pillow.

"Thanks." Mitsy slightly smiled. "I'm not an invalid though, Jessie."

Jessie patted her arm. "I know that. But you just narrowly survived a nightmare. And we want you and Woody to be all rested up for Bonnie comes home tomorrow! You two take it easy today, and by tomorrow you should be ready for playtime." Jessie lay next to the princess and put her arms around her 'little sister'. Mitsy winced again, but then relaxed, taking in the safety of home.

"I'm just so glad to be home now. To be...safe." Mitsy mused softly. "Jessie, you...you don't know the half of what happened at that horrible place! But I just want not to think about it! I'll tell you one thing, Jessie." Mitsy's voice grew serious. "I...I'm so glad Woody was with me! I was afraid we'd never see any of you again! But...but...if Woody hadn't been there, I...I don't think I would've made it! I'm very sure I would've died from fright!" Mitsy's lips quivered. Jessie hugged her tighter.

"I feel that way every time I get put alone in a box," Jessie stated. "I panic, wondering if I'll ever get out!" She shuddered thinking about that very experience last night with Matt and Slinky. But she chose not to burden Mitsy with that. She had enough on her mind. "What happened in your dream, Mits?"

"I was dreaming about...when...they tried to kill Woody yesterday! Only...this time...Jiminy and I were too late!" Mitsy trembled.

"Ohh. I'm sorry, Mitsy girl. So sorry you had to go through that." Jessie said sympathetically. "But at least you're both still alive!"

"I'm tired." Mitsy sighed. She leaned her head on Jessie's arm and closed her eyes. Jessie lay there, stroking the princess's hair. In a few minutes, Mitsy was dozing from exhaustion, but then she groggily whispered, "I...love you...Jessie."

"I love you too, precious girlie," Jessie said cheerily, and kissed her forehead. She was about to slowly rise when a dear voice spoke to her.

"All okay up here?" Buzz asked. Jessie smiled sweetly at him.

"Sure is." Jessie nodded. Jack trotted forward as the cowgirl let him take her spot. The wise old dog curled around the little doll, keeping her safe in the nest of his affection. In her sleep, she smiled.

Woody tried to focus on seeing that Wheezy and Jiminy felt welcome in their new place, but his cloth body was sore and his mind was consumed with all that had happened yesterday, but like many times in the past, he brushed it off and acted like he was okay. He thought keeping busy would help. He tried to help Potato Head keep all the green little ones in line (for which the spud was truly grateful)-they were extra rowdy when their 'mother' wasn't home-, countlessly climbing on the bed to make sure that his 'little girl' was all right, seeing to it that Rex and Trixie spent some time playing outside with Bonnie gone instead of playing video games all day, and even indulged himself in a few games of Checkers with either Slinky or Chuckles, depending on the winners.

But Buzz and Jessie knew that Woody was truly afraid and tense inside, they could see it in his eyes. But, they both knew better than to ask him about it. Nevertheless, they faithfully kept an eye on him throughout the day.

Woody leaned against the closet door, trying to catch his breath. He'd kept himself increasingly occupied all day, anything to avoid remembering yesterday! And...and last night. Now that he had given himself a moment to slow down, he suddenly felt weak, and...so tired! He actually started seeing black spots in front of him. Woody blinked and shook his head, struggling to focus, but the harder he tried, the darker the room became. "What the-" He sputtered, then fell into oblivion.

In my Toy Story4 fanfic, what would you think if I added a new 'child' toy that Buzz and Jessie could end up calling their own?
