"He's...seriously late..." Naruto sighed before shutting the door and walking back to where he sat next to Sasuke who was waiting in the front row closest to the door. "Hey, Sasuke..."

"Hm?"

"You and I are gonna go all the way, right?"

Sasuke smirked, "believe it."

"Hehe~!" He laughed as the door to the classroom finally opened to reveal...

"YOU!?" Sasuke and Naruto looked at one another, "You know him?!"

Naruto frowned, "I saw him with Kagome in the forest by her Compound! He left her there for the Hokage! Tch...like I'd ever leave Kagome for an Old Man. You?"

Sasuke scoffed, "I saw him with Kagome while I was looking for you, they...kissed...and he asked her out."

"WHAT!?" Naruto and Sakura looked at their new teacher who just sighed.

"You both, I see...are quite adapt at hiding your chakra...well, let's go up to the rooftop and we will continue this there."

Kagome looked at the potato's that she was washing. It was the first time they would all be eating together and likely, it wouldn't be the last. She was so excited, knowing that Naruto and Sasuke were going to just love Kakashi. "Oh, I forgot to go see the Old Man!" She turned the water off and placed the potatoes in a bag and then in the fridge before pulling her shoes on and jumping out her window.

She ran quickly to the tower where she knew the Hokage stayed and jumped over the familiar heads of Izumo and Kotetsu. "Sorry!" She yelled back at them as they turned back to face her retreating form in surprise. Why? Because she never came to the Hokage Tower without a reason, and for almost twelve years, she'd had no reason to visit the tower. Stopping at the top floor and knocking on the door in front of her, she smiled to herself at the muttered "come in" that came from inside the room. Entering, she watched the Hokage lift his head and his eyes became wide in his shock. "How are you, Old Man?"

"Tch...still calling me that? When was the last time that you and I spoke, Kagome?"

"How long ago did you Decree that the mention of Naruto's parents and the Nine-Tails was forbidden? It was...hm...twelve years ago? Roughly?" Her sarcasm dripping from her words.

Closing his eyes, the Third Hokage sighed and looked outside from the large opening of the tower. "You may hold this grudge over my head for however long that you wish, but it was only done out of concern for the Fourth Hokage's-"

"Minato," she interrupted. "His name is Minato, and you know that."

"...I did it to protect Naruto."

She nodded, "I know that...but it hurts watching how the villagers treat him like..." she clenched her fists and shook her head. "Sorry, I didn't come here to talk about this. I was actually...coming to see if you could spare some time."

Turning to look back at Kagome, he took in the girl who didn't seem to age in the least since her arrival in Konoha. "Some time?"

"So how should we introduce ourselves?" Sasuke asked, "it's not like we don't know one another, and I'm sure you've already read our files."

"Well, sure, but there is much that even your files don't tell me. Introduce yourself by telling me the things you like, things you hate, dreams for the future, hobbies...stuff like that."

Naruto laughed, "lets make this interesting, we should introduce one another!"

"That won't be hard," Sakura grinned, "Naruto Uzumaki for instance, likes annoying me, hates listening, dreams of surpassing Sasuke and his hobbies include goofing off in class and mot finishing his homework."

Sasuke frowned, "if we are doing it like that, then Sakura Haruno, you like being a hindrance to me by interrupting mine and Naruto's training, hates when I'm talking to anyone but you, dreams of a life with me that will...never...happen, and yours hobbies include stalking me and yelling at Naruto."

'Ouch...' Kakashi listened to the last part and watched Sakura die before him.

"Uh...hehe...well, I guess I'll Introduce Sasuke, but...am I supposed to give only bad stuff?" Naruto laughed a bit, "hm...I can't think of anything bad, really. So, he likes training and is really diligent in his studies, he likes Shikamaru, Chouji, me and Kagome...but he doesn't like loud people or overly active people, aside from me...hehe. He dislikes...oh, never mind, that's not important." Naruto frowned in thought before smiling and continuing, "his dreams for the future, is to rebuild his clan and to become a better Shinobi than the Hokage's of past and Present...just like me! While his hobbies are...training and relaxing with friends!"

Kakashi looked curiously at Naruto, "if you had introduced Sakura, how would you have done so?"

Sakura had seemed somewhat surprised by what she'd heard as well, not knowing that Sasuke was that close with Shikamaru and Chouji, and his dream for the future, while it wasn't so much a surprise...the fact that Naruto knew it and she didn't...

"Sakura?! Oh, that's easy! She likes to study, and she's really good at it too! Brightest Kunoichi in our class! She's good friends with Ino, and like me and Sasuke, they are always trying to out preform the other."

"I AM NOT FRIENDS WITH INO-PIG!"

"Huh?" Naruto laughed, "oh, my bad...you two look really close...well, anyways, I'd say her dreams for the future involve falling in love and having her own family, and her hobbies are currently looking for said future, but...you know what?" Naruto opened his eyes and grinned, "Even though Sasuke said it'd never happen, my mom told me...well, sorry...Kagome told me..." he blushed brightly and looked down at his hands, "to make sure to have dreams...and the confidence...to make those dreams...come true...so, Sakura...if you truly want that future," he glanced away from her, "I don't think it's too far out of reach if you have the confidence to pursue it full-heartedly. However, I think...you should focus on yourself as a Kunoichi first."

"...well said." Kakashi smiled from beneath his mask. "I think I have an even better idea of who you all are, thanks to Naruto here."

"S-Sensei!" Sakura stammered out of embarrassment, she had chosen to ignore Naruto, but his slip up calling Kagome his mom and then his comment about her pursuing Sasuke confidently...and focusing on becoming a Kunoichi...these things had tugged little bits of her heart and she frowned as she tried to push his words away. "Sensei, introduce yourself too!"

"Myself?" He looked up at the sky and sighed, "fine then, my name is Kakashi Hatake, things I like and things I hate...hm…I don't feel like telling you that. My dreams for the future...never really thought about it, and as for my hobbies...I have lots of hobbies. Oh...and I'm just curious, but Naruto...what is your dream for the future? I'm assuming that surpassing Sasuke isn't quite it."

Naruto stood up and stretched before walking over to the ledge where Kakashi was leaning. He jumped up onto the ledge and pointed at the Hokage Monument. "That's my dream...to be the Greatest Hokage. That way...the whole village will see me…and not...the Nine-Tailed Fox. Believe it!"

Kakashi watched as he turned and faced him, in shock from the declaration of becoming the Hokage, and more so from the knowledge of housing the Nine-Tailed Fox, he watched as his blue eyes met with his one black eye...and the unshed tears that he refused to let fall as he grinned at him...couldn't go ignored. "Interesting...you are all...very unique…and surprisingly, you are better acquainted than I'd suspected you'd be. Tomorrow, we will have our first mission."

Naruto hopped off the ledge and walked back to his spot beside Sasuke, "what kind of mission!?"

"It's a task that the four of us will participate in together."

"What's the task?" Naruto tried again.

"...it's a Survival Exercise."

Kagome looked out the window, having just gotten back from talking with the Third about fifteen minutes ago, she sighed before continuing with her cooking. "I have to get stronger...I was on par with Minato once upon a time! I used to train with Kushina, for Kami's sake! Not even bringing up Itachi and Kakashi..." she sighed again.

Kagome dropped the basket of vegetables and launched herself towards the teen, her hand moving to the kunai she normally kept strapped at her thigh. She was stopped when Itachi disappeared and reappeared right behind her, his hand catching hers and taking hold of her kunai before she could grab it.

"Not...that I could have beaten Itachi..." she said thoughtfully, "I don't think he ever seriously fought anyone..."

He wrenched her face up and her eyes met red, his irises moving and taking her to a world of terror and torture. She watched in horror as he wiped out the entire Uchiha clan, all of them...all of them except… '...Sasuke...' she pushed herself from his hold, struggling against whatever it was he was doing to her, she pulled all of her energy and purification into her hands and brought them to his face. A gasp of air filled her lungs and she fell to the ground as he released his hold on her. The world around her returned to normal and she pulled herself to her feet.

She winced as she sliced her finger, too distracted, she quickly ran the appendage under warm water. "...why am I even thinking about that!"

"...you may believe what you wish...you know the truth."

Her eyes widened as his voice echoed in her head. "What does that even mean..."

"...you know the truth."

"Which truth..." she finished wrapping her finger and continued cooking. "That he actually did it to test his abilities...or that he did it but didn't want to...he left Sasuke...alive, so…why? Why did he leave Sasuke...and again...why am I thinking about this!?"

Kakashi stood before the Memorial for fallen Shinobi, having departed from his team for the day until tomorrow. He wanted some time to himself before he was to go see Kagome tonight. Looking down at the stone, his eyes became foggy with memories. Ren, Obito...his father. He was thinking about how much his father would have probably loved Kagome. Minato and Kushina of course...he always thought of them. He thought of the Shinobi who had died during the attack on the village twelve years ago. He thought about the Uchiha Massacre. Thinking over as many names as he could recall, and then he closed his eyes...and he remembered each of their faces with acute detail. Every time he visited the Memorial, he made sure to remember...

Sitting down, he leaned against a tree a bit further in the distance and continued to stare at the Memorial before his eyes turned up to the sky and he counted the stars. He wondered how many wishes and how many promises had been made on the stars. Only one came to mind...however.

"This is a promise made beneath the stars, those will always be there to watch over you Kakashi...I'm making this promise so that you know I too will always be there for you."

"Promises beneath the stars..." his eyes widened, "stars!"

Kagome heard a knock on the door as, laughing at Sasuke and Naruto who were both fussing over who helped set the table. She'd told them that they were having a guest and they'd been trying to figure out who it was, from Chouji's dad to Shikamaru...she honestly thought Sasuke might now based on the frown and continuous sighing, but she shook her head as she walked to the door and opened it.

"Sorry I'm late,"

"Are you?" She frowned, glancing outside, she gasped, "where did the sun go!? I didn't even realize the time!" Kagome laughed, "come on in, we haven't started eating yet."

"...eating?" He asked as he walked in, coming to a complete stop as both Naruto and Sasuke peered at him with territorial glared from the archway of the kitchen, unbeknownst to Kagome.

"Yeah, dinner!" She smiled, turning just as the boys ducked back into the kitchen.

"...I see." He smiled to himself as he followed her, walking into the dining area where two smiling and well-behaved kids were sitting and acting as if nothing was wrong. "Oh...if it isn't Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto Uzumaki...my students..."

Kagome raised a brow at the not too enthusiastic comment, "wow, don't force yourself."

He smirked, "I was just a bit sad that I couldn't be alone with you tonight."

She blushed and ducked her head down, "this is a congratulations meal for Sasuke and Naruto!"

"Ah...of course, so tonight it's all about them."

"Yes!" She smiled, "...I hope you all do well, starting tomorrow, you will be a proper Genin Team, so act like one!"

"Act like one?" Naruto frowned, "how do you mean?"

Kagome looked at Naruto and smiled, "I would say...a team is built on friendship and teamwork...trust and understanding. The fact that you will be traveling together, training together and fighting together...you need to know that you can trust one another and that they will have your back. So...no matter what you do, work had...as a team."

"Right!"

'Ah...well...after that speech, they have no excuse if they fail tomorrow...'

"Sensei...how are you going to eat with that mask on?" Naruto asked.

"Hm?" Kakashi pointed at the mask over his mouth, "...you mean this?" He smiled, "I'll take it off to eat."

Kagome looked around the table and frowned, "I forgot, the potato salad and the forks..."

"We'll get it!" Naruto yelled as he stood up and left the kitchen, Sasuke following.

By the time they both got back, Kakashi was fixing his mask and laughing at something Kagome had commented on. His plate? Completely empty...

Neither could process the speed at which he'd finished his food, and the fact that they'd missed what lay beneath his mask...both boys were bummed, and while they ate their food as though nothing bothered them...they were both thinking up multiple ways of getting that mask off their Sensei.

"Are the two of you staying the night tonight?"

"Yeah!" Naruto beamed, "I've got mine and Sasuke's sleeping bag, I'll be right back!"

Sasuke blushed, "I don't want to burden you, Kagome..."

Kakashi raised a brow from next to the door, "staying the night? If they do, they don't get to eat in the morning, it's the same for Sakura."

Kagome frowned but nodded, "understood." Walking up to Kakashi, she kissed him on the cheek, blushing as she bowed her head.

Kakashi tucked his hand into his pocket and pulled out a book before he opened it up. He pulled his mask down and leaned in to kiss her in such a fluid motion, neither Sasuke or Kagome realized what had happened until it had happened.

Sasuke was stunned, he didn't see his face or anything, only the cover of the book as his Sensei had hidden away that moment so that he couldn't see. No doubt, he simply wanted to keep those moments with Kagome to himself, but the fact that Kakashi was daring to do that in front of him... 'Damn...Kakashi...' he clenched his fists, 'whatever happens tomorrow, he better be ready!'
