Sept 19th, 2002
A heavily pregnant Alice sobbed as she dropped her son and daughter off with her cousins, Zelda and Hilda, begging the women to protect them at all costs and not to let their father anywhere near their house in Greendale.
"You know we would never allow that monster to harm them, Al. Just please, for the baby's sake, please be careful and come back to us."
Those were the last words Hilda spoke to her before she dashed to her car and raced back to Riverdale. Alice had just made a chilling discovery about the man she married and she knew that there was only one person she could trust to help her, to protect her unborn child from its father. She knew she probably looked like hell when she pulled up to the Whyte Wyrm but she didn't care, she just needed to find him and beg him for protection. The baby's safety was all that mattered now.
Alice burst through the doors of the Wyrm in a flurry, thankful that there were not many patrons at this hour on Thursday night. The bartender, Hogeye, recognized her immediately, his eyes filling with concern that quickly turned into rage. He came around the bar slowly, his jaw clenched as he approached Alice. She tried to hide her face from him but she knew he had already seen the damage that was done.
"Alli... Who did this-," he asked angrily, but Alice quickly cut him off.
"Uncle, is he here?"
"No. He's- he's home with Gladys. She is having a rough time, shouldn't be much longer before that boy makes his appearance," Hogeye said, looking at his niece with sadness in his eyes as she seemed to deflate. Of course, he is home with his wife... that is where he should be, she thought, her heart ripping back open. Even after all this time, it still hurt to know her mate was married to another woman. But who was she to judge, she was married to another man...
"Okay. Um... Thank you, Uncle. I-I... It's okay, I can handle this myself, I suppose. It was stupid of me to come here. Please don't tell him, okay? Thanks," Alice said quickly, dropping her eyes to the floor as she turned to walk out of the bar. Hogeye grabbed her by the shoulder, turning her to face him again as he lifted her chin.
"No can do, Alli. I promised your Ma I'd keep you safe, and that's what I'm gonna do. Now, go wait in the office," he said, leading her to the back of the bar and tucking her away in FP's office. She looked around slowly, memories of all the times she had been in this room with FP coming back to her. Even though they had not been together in over 10 years, the pain of their separation still hurt like it had happened yesterday. It wasn't something she would ever get over and being in this room made it even worse. She shook her head and focused on what needed to be done now and not about things she could never change.
So much had happened in the last few months that she wasn't sure if she could take any more stress. Just a few months after she found out FP was having his first child, she also found out that she would be having a third child. When she found out the gender, she was so thankful that she would be having another little girl. She loved her son with all her heart and she loved bonding with her daughter Polly but the moment she found out she was pregnant again she knew this child was different. The powers she felt emanating from this child's spirit were stronger than she'd ever felt before. And even though Hal wanted her powers bound - like he had forced her to do with Chic and Polly - she didn't feel like that was what she was supposed to do with this child.
Alice had been able to hide her true heritage from Hal for the first few months of their marriage until once - when she was pregnant with Chic - he had caught her using her craft and he nearly beat her half to death. Of course, he never came near her belly, but she did have to hide indoors under the guise of bed rest until the bruising on her face and arms were gone. That night he had given her an ultimatum: bind the child's craft - leaving their only powers as Watcher powers - or the minute the child took his first breath, Hal would ensure it was also the child's last. What other choice did she have?
After that day, Hal forced Alice to cut all ties with the Southside, including her parents and especially her mother's family. That was also when Hal decided that the only time that he would be intimate with her would be when he wanted to impregnate her, and he kept his word. They played the perfect, loving couple in public but behind closed doors, they hated each other. He was abusive - only towards Alice of course since he believed witches shouldn't have rights - and she mostly took care of her children and prepared them for their future training.
Alice stayed lost in her thoughts and after what seemed like a lifetime, she heard the door creak open and - even with her back turned - she knew it was him. His scent had not changed at all and it made her mark throb with need. She could feel him slowly approaching her but she didn't turn, afraid that he would see that damage Hal had done to her this time. He stopped a few steps from her and cleared his throat, "Alice, what the hell are you doing here? Hogeye just said you needed to speak to me but he wouldn't tell me why. You haven't wanted to speak to me in a decade, so what do you want now, huh? I have to get back to Gladys, she needs me."
His voice sounded gruff and she could tell he was trying to hide his true emotions by being cold towards her, but it still hurt to hear him speak to her that way. Keeping her back turned and her arms wrapped protectively around her belly, she whispered, "I'm sorry he had to pull you away from Gladys. I told him that I would leave but he insisted I wait here. I just didn't know where else to go, I needed to see you."
"So, what? Now you want to see me? You think you can just barge into my life whenever the hell you feel like? After everything, you think you can come running to me with whatever issue you are having in your perfect little life and I'll drop everything to come running to you? You need to think again, Alice. Those days are over and you are not welcome here, so you can leave. Now, if you don't mind, I have a wife that actually needs me," he said harshly, proving to Alice that she had been foolish to think he still cared after all this time. Hot tears poured down her cheeks, burning the cuts on her face as they passed over them.
"You're right, FP. I'm sorry. You don't owe me anything and you don't need to be dragged into my issues. I can handle it alone, I have been handling it on my own for a while. Go back to your wife, I will see myself out and I won't bother you again..." Alice whispered, turning around finally, making sure she kept her head down as she prepared to walk out of his life forever. She couldn't bear the thought of the hatred that would surely be in his eyes if she looked into them.
She had made her own mess, she had to be the one to clean it up. Perhaps her cousins would know what to do to protect her unborn child. Against her better judgment, she glanced up to look at FP one last time and watched the anger melt off his face into a look of abject horror before a growl erupted from his chest. Before she could stop him, FP was inches from her face, his thumb ghosting over the cuts and bruises on her face.
"What. Happened?" he demanded, his jaw clenched in anger.
"It's-," she paused, remembering the words he just spoke to her, "Don't worry about it, FP. The sisters and I will handle it."
"The hell you will! Who the fuck put their hands on you?!" FP snarled, the heat in his eyes making her shiver. She knew this look, this was his Alpha side, the side that protected what was his and the ones he loved. She had seen this look several times when they were young and she didn't realize how much she missed it. Suddenly, his eyes softened as he examined the damage to her face, "Ally, I'm serious. Who did this to you?" Alice bit her swollen lip, debating whether to tell him what happened. She looked away as she said the name of her attacker.
"Hal."
With one simple syllable, she watched FP practically transform in front of her, his rage so strong that he was having a hard time keeping his beast contained. His body vibrated, his fangs protruding as his fur tried to pierce through the skin on his body. Alice stepped forward cautiously and placed her hand on his chest, slowly tilting her head to the side to offer her neck to him in an act that she had performed so many times before. FP's glowing yellow eyes searched her face for any hesitation and when he saw none, he leaned in and inhaled her scent, his body calming briefly before the vibrations started again.
Alice knew that the hate and rage he was feeling were too overwhelming for him so she did the one thing she knew would surely calm his rage. She tilted her head further, pushing the hair off her shoulder as she spoke, "Bite me." Alice saw the hesitation in his eyes, knew that this was an intimate act and they were both married now but she knew it was the only way. "Do it, Forsythe. You need it and I'm okay with it. Just do-"
Before she could even finish her sentence, FP surged forward and sunk his fangs into her mark - his mark - and tasted the sweetness of her blood. Alice moaned as he suckled the wound, slowly sipping her blood to not be too greedy. It had been too long since he had tasted her and he was ashamed at how aroused he was just by the taste of her. Alice felt the same, rubbing her thighs together in an attempt to quench the need she felt for him.
After another moment, FP pulled away - now in his human form - his eyes still glowing and his fangs still extracted. Alice could feel his need pressed against her hip and she shivered, knowing that they were treading into dangerous territory. He leaned forward and licked the wound to seal it, thrusting against her with a groan. Then he shook his head, his eyes slowly turning back to their natural blue when he finally spoke, "I- we need to stop, I can't do that to Gladys."
"I know, FP... No matter how bad I wish we could, I couldn't put that on you. I am just happy knowing that you are happy," Alice admitted, her eyes glassy from unshed tears. "And really, I don't want you to feel obligated to help me... I won't ruin you too."
"You know I can't let you do this alone, Ally. If he is hurting you, I won't let him get away with it," FP stated, not giving her room for argument. She knew that now was probably the best time to tell him what she had discovered - the events that lead up to this particular confrontation and her subsequent beating at the hands of her 'husband' - but she didn't know where to begin.
"FP, it's not the first time and if I don't put my foot down, it won't be the last," the snarl that came from his throat at her words made her realize she had made a mistake. She hadn't told him that this had happened before and when she looked into his eyes, she knew she had to tell him everything or he would destroy the treaty and kill Hal himself. "...Fp, I-"
"How many times, Ally?" his fangs elongated again as he stared at her. She hesitated, knowing that one he found out that there was a chance that even she wouldn't be able to calm him down. He grabbed her chin so she would have to look into his eyes as he asked again, "How. Many. Times?"
"Several... too many to count really."
"How long? How long has this been going on?" FP's voice was low, his teeth clenched in anger.
"Since I was pregnant with Charles... He... He found out about my heritage and he's- he forced me to bind Chic and Polly's powers. The spell only works until they turn twenty-one but Hal doesn't know that yet, he thinks it's permanent. He has a deep-seated hatred for otherworlders, especially witches. And..." Alice paused, unsure if she should tell him her suspicions.
"And?" he asked, stepping closer to her and placing his hands on her shoulders.
"And, I think Hal killed my parents."
"Alpha, why have you summoned the Elders at this late hour?" Thomas Topaz asked, sitting at the head of the circle, surrounded by the other elders as they stared at him stoically. FP hated to wake everyone but he knew that this was something that couldn't wait. He asked Alice to wait in the shadows of Fox Forest while he spoke to the Elders first and then they could go from there.
"I'm sorry I had to wake you all so late, Thomas, but this is urgent and it involves one of our own... well, in a sense," FP held his hand out and pulled Alice into the light of the fire and the men all gasped. Thomas shot up from his spot by the fire and approached Alice with concern in his eyes.
"Little One, who has done this to you?" he asked quietly.
"My husband."
All of the men growled in unison, howling in grief and anger at the actions of someone who was supposed to be a protector but who had proven time and again that he was not fit for the job. Thomas pulled Alice into a bone-crushing hug, rubbing her back soothingly as she began to cry. Alice was a Southsider, she was a Serpent in her own right, and these men had watched her grow up - had protected her. Now, it seems that they had failed to do that after she was grown.
"Tell us what happened," Thomas asked, walking back to his spot and imploring them to sit as well. FP helped Alice onto the ground so she was comfortable before he sat beside her, taking her hand and squeezing it.
"I will Tommy, but first I need to explain the reason why FP and I called you here," Alice went on to explain to the council how she came to be in this abusive situation, how Hal had forced her to stop using her magic and only allowed her to do the binding spell on her children, her suspicions that her parents accident was no accident at all - that it was murder.
Alice had spoken to Dr. Curdle Sr. and he had given her the autopsy report as well as copies of the accident report from the Sheriff's office. The brake line had been partially removed - not cut, actually removed - but they just chalked it up to a faulty line and moved on. Finally, Alice explained that she had a very bad feeling that when Hal learned how powerful the child she carried would be, that he would follow through with his threats and destroy her once she took a breath. By the time she had finished telling them everything, Alice felt numb, despite the tears rolling down her face.
"Little One, this information is a lot to take in at once. I believe we must consult the spirits to see if we can find the solution to your situation," another elder, Chayton Peabody, said. She knew that this was the standard procedure of the Elders so she wasn't at all surprised when they had made the suggestion. She nodded in agreement and watched as they prepared the herbs for the ritual, her hand still held securely in FP's.
Once they had completed mixing the herbs, each member of the circle grabbed a handful and as the Elders chanted in their native tongue. They each tossed the herbs into the fire, the smoke changing colors to represent each new member of the circle. Once they have completed the ritual and the chanting halted, Thomas spoke, "Great Spirit, guide us through the otherworld and allow us to see what is to be done about the injustice that has befallen your daughter."
Without warning, Alice felt herself being pulled into a vision. Alice was standing in a field of wildflowers, FP standing beside her and clutching her hand while the others all stood around the field in a large circle. Suddenly, she spotted two small colorful beings - one blue and black, one green and gold - floating in the space of the circle they have formed. Then the colorful beings grew, their outlines forming a male and a female silhouette, both floating in the same area but never coming together. They would float around, colorful sparks coming off of them occasionally, but they just continue to float along without coming close to one another.
Then, after a time, the two beings floated towards each other and began swirling together, touching, kissing, dancing in sync to a harmonious rhythm that only they could hear. That's when the clouds above them became dark, a black shadow descending upon the two beings and threatening to consume them. The beings did not hesitate as they crashed into one another and became one entity, releasing an explosion of light that shattered the darkness and painted beautiful colors in the sun-filled sky. The being danced through the fields and then everything faded to black. Alice blinked and saw the fire burning in front of her and looked around at all the shocked faces of the elders.
"What does it mean?" she asked Thomas, her voice trembling.
"It means that child in your womb and the child that FP's wife now carries are destined for something greater than anything we have ever seen before," Thomas replied, explaining that the beings were their unborn children, living and growing in the same space but never crossing paths. They will become the two most powerful otherworlders that have ever been created but they must stay separated until the darkness begins to arise. A day will come when they will meet and be together - destined to be soulmates - but an evil shall descend upon them and they must come together completely as bondmates for them to destroy it and bring peace to Riverdale.
"Wait, what?" FP asked, shocked and wrapping his arms around Alice.
"Your babes are mates... They are destined to be the saviors of our people. For decades, our ancestors spoke of a great love that was meant to unite all of the people of Riverdale and it seems that it is finally coming to pass," Chayton explained, a smile on his face. Alice held her palm over her belly, utter shock on her face as she stared at FP.
"The two souls were prophesied to be the most powerful of their kind and would drive the evil from our town, finally bringing back the old ways of living in harmony," Thomas continued, smiling at the joyous news but Alice trembled, afraid for her child and the dangers that she would have to face.
"But how is that possible, why them? Why our kids?" she asked quietly, leaning into FP's embrace.
"Isn't it obvious, Little One? They are your children... Is it so hard to believe that they would be mates given who your true mates are?" Alice blushed, hanging on to FP for dear life. It was true, they had mated a long time ago and whether they were married to other people or not, they would always be mates. That was a bond that no one could take away from them.
"So what happens now?" she asked quietly.
Thomas stood up, the other elders following his lead, "Now, we must prepare for the prophecy to be fulfilled and protect the babe in your womb."
~~7 Years Later~~
Oct. 31st, 2009 - All Hallows Eve
"Time to sleep now, little ones. I know we had a big day and you had lots of fun but it is time to get some rest. I mean it - I'm looking at you, Pollyanna," Alice smiled softly as she tucked her daughters into bed and kissed them goodnight. Betty reached up and put her tiny hands against Alice's cheeks and smiled a toothy grin at her mother.
"I love you, Mommy. Thank you for taking us trick n treating! I liked being Nancy Drew, even if no one knew my costume," Betty said with a smile before she kissed Alice on the cheek, rolling over and snuggling her stuff unicorn. Alice's heart melted at the gesture from her baby girl and her eyes glistened with tears. Sometimes the knowledge of what Betty would become overwhelmed her and she had to force herself not to push Betty too fast too soon. Unfortunately, ten years can go by in the blink of an eye and she had to make sure that her child knew how to protect herself.
As Alice crept out of the girl's room, she felt her cell phone buzz in her pocket. She opened it to reveal a text message from an unknown number.
Unknown Number: I'm sorry for everything I ever did to you Ally... I wish you knew just how much.
Her breath hitched when she realized who the message was from. They had not spoken outright since that night long ago when they bonded their children together forever. She had honestly only ever seen him at council meetings, and that was just to ensure the treaty they set all those years ago stayed in place. She had heard rumors lately that Gladys had left him, that she had left town and left him with two kids to take care of. Something in her heart pulled and she knew she needed to see him again. Something was terribly wrong and he needed her, she felt it in her soul.
However, she couldn't just leave the girls alone either. Charles was at MIT and usually, Hal would be home - spending most nights sleeping in his study - but on All Hallows Eve, he would spend the whole night off somewhere to be away from Alice since it enhanced her powers ten-fold. She knew she needed to do something so she made a quick decision. She conjured up a portal that would link to the only people she trusted alone with her children.
"Al, do you have any idea what day it is? Zelda and I were about to take Brina out for our ritual," Alice grimaced, forgetting that her cousins were still able to celebrate her family's customs.
"I'm sorry Hil, but it's an emergency. I need you and Zelda to come and watch over the girls while I go take care of something. Please, I don't- Hal is gone and I am afraid of what will happen if he decides to come home and I am not here. I have the protection spell in place but-,"
"But it could always be stronger... Okay, let me grab a Sabrina and tell Zelda what's happening. Don't worry, cousin, we will come to watch over the place. You know Hal can't break a protection spell once we've enhanced it. But, you owe me one, Al." Hilda said, winking at Alice playfully.
Within moments, the Spellman sisters and their niece walked through the portal, the older women pulling Alice into a bone-crushing hug and promising her that the girls would be safe with them. Zelda explained to Sabrina that they were having a sleepover and sent her to go climb into bed with Betty. Once the kids were all safely upstairs, the three witches cast a joint spell, protecting the home for all forms of evil - but especially from Hal Cooper - for the next 12 hours. As Alice slipped her coat on, Hilda cleared her throat and grinned knowingly.
"Say hi to FP for us, will ya?" Alice laughed, knowing that she couldn't hide anything from her cousins. She kissed them both on the cheek as she headed for the front door.
"I will."
Alice walked up to the trailer that she was told belonged to the Jones' and stood at the door for a minute, debating on whether this was the right thing for her to do. She rapted on the door a few times, hoping not to wake the kids with the noise. She heard some faint noises from inside and the door swung up, revealing a very disheveled looking FP. His eyes were swollen and red, looking like he just got out of bed even though he was still in his white tank and loose-fitting jeans.
"Ally? What- what are you doing here?" he asked, wiping his eyes to make sure there were no tears in them. He stepped aside, letting Alice in and looking around outside to make sure that no one had followed her here.
"I'm sorry, FP. I know it's stupid for me to show up like this but I got your message and I just... I needed to see you and make sure you were okay," Alice explained, taking off her coat and laying it across the arm of his couch before turning to face him...
"I'm getting by. It's hard, I never thought she would do something like this, you know? The minute she saw Jug change she took off, didn't even bother to wait for an explanation," FP said solemnly, hate filling his heart for what Gladys had done to him.
Alice gasped, stepping forward to grab his forearm, "Jug changed already? But- but it's too soon! He is still a baby, how is that even possible? They shouldn't have to go through all of this at their age!"
FP laughed bitterly, rubbing his hand over his face in frustration, "You know how, Ally. We both knew what they were, it was bound to happen soon rather than later. They have a destiny that we can't stop, no matter how much we want to protect them."
"I know. I just hate that this burden is falling on them," Alice said sadly, turning around and walking back towards the couch. She felt a shift in the air and she tensed, waiting for him to speak.
"Alice, I know you didn't come here to talk about the kids, so what's really going on? Did he hurt you again?" FP growled lowly.
Without turning around, she shook her head and whispered, "I was just worried about you, FP. I could- You needed me and I needed to be here with you. I... I could feel you."
FP stepped forward silently, pressing his chest to her back as his arms wrapped around her waist tightly while he buried his nose into her neck to smell her. Alice whined, her head falling back onto his shoulder and expanding her neck to give him better access. She felt a rumble in his chest as FP growled again, dragging his already expanded fangs along her neck towards her mark. He thrust his hips forward gently, grinding his arousal against her backside and making her gasp.
"I do need you, Ally. In the worst possible way, I need you. I have always needed you... you have only ever been the one for me. I fucked up so bad and I am so sorry for what happened that night. I wish I could change it or take it all back, stop him from-" FP paused and held her close to his chest, "...but I know it's not possible. And I know it might be too late," FP whimpered into her hair, his hold on her tightening as his body trembled. Alice turned in his arms, raising her palm to his cheek and holding her stare.
"No, it's never too late. We might have to wait until it's time for Jug to take over, but it will never be too late for us. I have only ever wanted you, FP, and that will never change," Alice whispered, pulling him into her, crashing their lips together in a frantic kiss. Alice ran her hands into his hair, tugging at his dark locks while he squeezed her hips tighter. Her mind clouded and she gasped as he gripped her blouse, ripping it open and sending the buttons flying in different directions before it fluttered to the floor. He pulled back suddenly, pushing her into the wall beside the door and caging her in with his arms.
"Tell me to stop, Alice. Tell me that you don't want this and walk out of here right now. Because if we start this, if this goes further, I will not let you go again - to hell with the treaty and to hell with that fucking asshole, Hal Cooper. I don't just want you for tonight..."
"FP..." Alice whispered, reaching behind her to unhook her bra and dropping it at their feet, "...please don't stop, I need you too much."
That was all he needed to hear before he ripped his clothes off and...
"Ew, ew, ew... Mom, we don't want to hear about those details!" Betty exclaimed as she cringed, looking at Jughead who had the same horrified look on his face. They didn't want to think about their parents having sex, especially not when they were dating themselves. It was a bit much for either of them to take.
"Oh, Elizabeth. Don't be such a prude, it's perfectly natural. You should have seen those two back in school-," Alice cleared her throat, interrupting Hilda before she could say anything more.
Around the Copper living room sat the Spellman's, the Jones', Betty & Jughead, as well as all of their friends. All the teens stared at the former Southside Watcher, shocked at the tale she had just told and wondering what this news would mean now. Betty looked at her brother, who was standing in the corner looking away. Betty realized he was awfully quiet - more so than normal - and something her mother said came back to her.
"Wait, so the spell you did on Chic and Polly..." Betty turned to face her brother, "That means you're-..."
"A Witcher? Yep," Chic shrugged, conjuring a large coffee and taking a sip before he continued, "My powers came back to me on my 21st birthday but by then Mom had already told me what we were. I've been working on my craft for the last four years. I am getting fairly good, but my powers will never compare to yours, sis."
Betty sat in stunned silence for a minute before turning back to her mother. "So let me get this straight: I'm a Witcher and that's why I can do things that other Watchers can't do? And to add to that - I'm a Spellman too?" she asked Alice, trying to come to terms with this new information.
"That's right, sweetie," Alice replied with a small smile.
"YES! That means you're my cousin and we're legit family! I'm so happy!" Sabrina exclaimed, bouncing up and down in her seat. "I always knew I felt a stronger connection with you for a reason, B! I have so many things to teach you, Cuz!"
"Well not so fast, Sabrina dear. That will need to wait for the time being. The spell binding Betty's powers can only be broken one way," Zelda spoke up, patting her on the knee lovingly as Sabrina pouted slightly.
"How?" Betty asked.
"Well you and Jughead have to bond, dear," Zelda said plainly as if was the obvious answer.
"Ok, so what, I just have to bite her and it will release her powers?" Jughead asked, gripping Betty's hand tighter. The thought of Jughead biting her and mating her had her heart racing and her face flushing.
"Unfortunately, it's not that simple, son. The way the spell was done, there has to be a ritual performed. The traditional bonding ceremony of the Serpents. It has only had to be done a few times and hasn't been done since-," FP paused, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
"Since?" Betty and Jughead asked at the same time.
"Since Fp and I bonded when we were 15," Alice explained, "It was necessary at the time because FP had to take charge earlier than most Alpha's when his father passed. We already knew we were mates, had been in love for years, but we were not allowed to bond until it was time for him to ascend. You see, at the time, bonding outside of the pact was nearly unheard of and no one in the pack had ever bonded with a Watcher before. They were afraid of what that would mean for the pack's future and bloodline."
"So, were they against it?"
"Yes and no. These people knew me, I grew up with the pack but it was still unheard of and people were concerned. However, once FP took a stand they had no choice but to allow it, even if it did end up the way that it did," Alice said, her voice betraying her emotions.
"God, Mom... I'm so sorry," Betty whispered, leaning over to hug Alice tightly. She couldn't believe that all of this happened to her mother. That she was mated with FP but ended up married to another man and all these years her father had been so horrible to her without the siblings even knowing it.
"It's okay, Elizabeth. It worked out the way it was supposed to in the end. And once Jughead ascends, FP and I can be together again without fear of the treaty being broken and Hal can pay for what he- but that is a discussion for another day," Alice said, clearing her throat and looking at FP.
"Okay wait, so one thing that doesn't make sense to me is why the elders said I would be the most powerful Alpha to ever rise. I'm just a half-breed, what makes me so special?" Jughead asked, his brow scrunched in confusion.
"I think I can answer that one for you, young one. You see, before you were born, your mother came to Greendale looking for a witch that would be willing to enchant her womb. She searched for days until she finally found our mother," Hilda explained.
"What? Enchant it how?"
FP placed his hand on Jughead's shoulder and spoke, "Well, when your mom got pregnant we were fighting a lot and were actually on the verge of splitting up. In a desperate attempt, she went to see Madam Spellman to have her womb enchanted so that when we had sex she would automatically become pregnant. Only, she didn't know I was a wolf, so even after she was warned, she didn't realize that using that spell to become impregnated by an otherworldly creature would have side effects."
"Side effects? What kind of side effects?" Betty asked, looking from father to son.
All the adults sat silent for a moment until Alice finally answered, "Otherworlders absorb magic when we are in the womb, it's how we receive our powers. So if someone uses a spell or enchantment on their womb, the child will absorb that magic and it will become a part of them. In Jug's case, it not only made him a full-born wolf but also gave him magical abilities that no other wolf will ever possess."
"Meaning?" Betty asked.
"Meaning, Jughead is not only the Alpha and the most powerful werewolf to ever be born but he can also wield magic and control it at will, just like a witch can. Together, you two are unstoppable. Together you are fulfilling the prophecy that has been foretold since the first Watchers came to Riverdale. You will save us all from whatever is coming next."
