Many thanks to those who read and reviewed this fic. I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here Naegi's woes continued as martial law is imposed on Novoselic, and now the streets are no longer safe for Naegi to travel especially when a SHOOT-TO-KILL order is implemented and things look pretty bleak for our very own Luckster…

Well then, read on and enjoy!

Ch. 45: Shūban part 4

At the Japanese Embassy in Novoselic, the Japanese ambassador is talking to Jin Kirigiri via Skype and the two are discussing about Naegi, as they both believe that the 15-year old boy is incapable of committing the crime and that someone set him up to become the fall guy so as to have basis to declare martial law in Novoselic.

Moreover Jin requested to the ambassador to help Hagakure as he is unjustly implicated on the charges and he is being illegally used to flush Naegi out and the ambassador reluctantly said to Jin that he will do what he could to help the two Hope's Peak Academy students out and try to clear their names and expose the true culprit.

"I'll see what I can do, Mr. Kirigiri."

"Yes, please."

"I can't make any assurances but…"

"Please do whatever you could. I do not believe that Makoto Naegi would do something like that."

"I too believe that."

"Please, Mr. Ambassador…"

"I'll inform you of any developments, Mr. Kirigiri."

"Okay."

After that the call ended, and the Japanese ambassador sighed as he felt that this is one situation he might have difficulty in working on, and he is sure that Naegi is being used as a scapegoat because he saw the recent social media feeds where the chancellor tried to harass and humiliate the SHSL Luckster in the recent royal ball, and now he is accused of murdering the Royal Family of Novoselic.

His musing is interrupted when the secretary came and told him that military soldiers are here, which made the ambassador feel alarmed at the development, and wondered if this is the prime minister and the chancellor's doing, as military soldiers do not usually come here without notice or reason.

The secretary then tells the ambassador that she has a feeling that the chancellor might be behind this since he believes that Naegi would likely come here, and the ambassador said this is despicable since Naegi hasn't come here and that he do not believe that Naegi would do something like coming here just to hide from the Novoselic authorities because of the shoot-to-kill orders.

"This is alarming."

"Me too, Mr. Ambassador."

"What would the Prime Minister and the chancellor hope to achieve?"

"I wish I knew."

"If only Process Sonia were here…"

"Yeah."

"I guess we might…"

"Huh?"

Suddenly, military soldiers came and began inspecting the office, and one of the soldiers began interrogating the ambassador, asking if Naegi came here, which the ambassador honestly deny it, stating that he hasn't received a call from the boy or a visit, and upon seeing that Naegi is not here, the soldier contacted the prime minister via smartphone and told him of the recent development, and after a minute, the soldier told the others their orders.

To everyone's shock, the embassy officials and employees are being rounded up, and the ambassador demanded what is the meaning of this, in which the squad leader said that they receive orders to have the embassy officials and workers taken in for questioning, and this also includes the Japanese ambassador himself, and the ambassador is then taken by the soldiers, and he demanded that his rights be respected, but the soldier apologized, saying that he is just following orders and that martial law is in effect, thus, any rights is suspended.

"Sorry, but nothing personal."

"You…!"

"The Prime Minister's orders."

"You can't do this!"

"I'm sorry."

"Release me at once! Let everyone go!"

"Take them away."

"Let us go! You cannot do this!"

However, one embassy employee managed to stay hidden as she helplessly watched her co-workers taken away, amid them berating the soldiers that what they are doing is wrong and that the prime minister will never get away with what he is doing.

"THIS IS DESPICABLE!"

"HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION!"

"YOU WON'T GET AWAY WITH THIS!"

"THE WORLD WILL FIND OUT ABOUT THIS!"

"DAMN YOU, CHANCELLOR!"

"I HOPE KARMA WILL GET YOU!"

"LET ME GO!"

"SOMEONE SAVE ME!"

At Hope's Peak Academy, Jin receive a call, which is from the employee of the Japanese Embassy in Novoselic, and informed the headmaster of what is happening here, and said that Naegi is in danger, as the Prime Minister is doing everything to corner the boy and shoot him on sight, and Jin is shocked by this and asked her if there is anything they can do, and the employee said that the only way for Naegi to survive is to ESCAPE Novoselic and seek international aid like the United Nations-backed countries within the European Nation and the United Kingdom.

"Are you serious?"

"Yes, sir."

"How could they…?"

"I wish I had an answer…"

"I can't believe they would resort to this…"

"Makoto Naegi is indeed in danger…"

"Huh?"

"EEEKKK!"

The call, however, is interrupted when soldiers came and grabbed her, saying that she is wanted for questioning, and Jin and hear the screams as she said the soldiers are violating her rights, but the soldiers said it is nothing personal as they are only following orders from the Prime Minister and the chancellor.

"THIS IS DESPICABLE!"

"Sorry, ma'am…"

"YOU ARE COMMITTING HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION!"

"Anything you say can and be used against you…"

"YOU WON'T GET AWAY WITH THIS!"

"Take her away."

"THE WORLD WILL FIND OUT ABOUT THIS!"

"Let's go."

As the call was abruptly ended, Jin became worried, and Kizakura urges his friend to contact the Naegi family and inform them of what is happening, stating that sooner or later news of what's happening at Novoselic will surely reach the airwaves of Japan, which Jin said he is unsure but Kizakura said this is better than doing nothing.

Jin's daughter, Kyoko, came, having overheard the discussion, and told her dad that Kizakura is correct and that the Naegi family must be informed at once as it is better that Jin be the first to tell them rather than the Naegi family learning about their son via the news from international media.

"Kizakura-san is right, dad."

"Kyoko…"

"Naegi-kun's family must be informed. At once."

"But…"

"It is better to tell them now rather than getting the info through social media."

"Are you sure about this…?"

"Yes, dad."

"…"

Seeing that his daughter is right, Jin reluctantly pick up the phone and contacted the Naegi household, where he spoke to the Naegi matriarch and inform her about the latest development involving their son, Makoto.

Kyoko and Kizakura can hear the audible conversation and both noted that this could be Makoto's DARKEST HOURS as he became a subject of a manhunt and believed that he was framed for a crime that he never committed, especially when they learned that even Hagakure was dragged in to the mess and is being used to flush Makoto out.

"Oh boy…"

"…"

"Naegi sure has landed in such a troublesome country."

"Couldn't agree more."

"I guess BAD LUCK has struck your classmate, eh, Kyoko?"

"I wouldn't call it BAD LUCK."

"Really?"

"…"

Back at Novoselic, the entire nation is rocked, especially when soldiers went to every household just to find the wanted boy, and even the citizens are not pleased with the fact that both the Prime Minister and the chancellor issued a SHOOT-TO-KILL order on the boy, as well as placing Novoselic under martial law, and dissent slowly formed among the citizens and wished that the UN and the European Nation would take notice of what is happening here.

"Damn it…"

"That Prime Minister and chancellor…"

"They are drunk with power…"

"And now they are doing this to us…"

"Makoto Naegi is such a good boy…why would they do this to him…?"

"I hope that boy escape…Novoselic is no longer safe…"

"Indeed…"

"…"

At the military base, Hagakure is strapped on a chair as he is being interrogated by the soldiers and was asked about Naegi's whereabouts, and the SHSL Fortune Teller reiterated that he hasn't seen his classmate for days and said that even if he did, he has no idea where he is now, and insisted on being released since he is not involved in any wrongdoing other than attending a convention for international fortune tellers,

However, the soldiers insisted that Hagakure tell him where Naegi is hiding or else the fortune teller won't be released from custody, and getting desperate, Hagakure demanded a lawyer, but the soldiers said that it is not possible because the country is now under martial law, much to Hagakure's shock.

"Say what?"

"Sorry. All rights are suspended until further notice."

"You got to be kidding!"

"Please answer the question…"

"I already did! I don't know where Naegi-chi is right now!"

"You are reminded that you are under oath…"

"Then go eat some OAT MEALS! I have no idea where my classmate is at the moment!"

"Then you will remain here until you tell the truth…"

The chancellor came and asked the soldier what are the developments, and after being told, the chancellor tells the soldier to use torture methods to make Hagakure admit, and the soldiers asked if he is sure, which the chancellor shouted, telling them that they have every right to use it to their disposal, just as long as they get the answer on where Naegi is hiding, and Hagakure began shouting insults at the chancellor, saying he is an old hermit who does not know basic decency, much to the chancellor's chagrin.

"What did you say?"

"You heard me, you old hermit!"

"Old hermit?"

"isn't it obvious? You're worse than a physical 60-year old moron with a case of impotency!"

"How dare you!"

"…"

"Begin the torture at once!"

"Oh crap…"

Elsewhere, the scene shifts at a suburban house within Novoselic, where you can see Naegi is being nursed at a hidden basement level after being assaulted by soldiers earlier but his LUCK enabled him to escape, and a sympathetic middle-class family offered him refuge and vowed to help him clear his name and find a way to expose the prime minister and the chancellor's actions against the citizens of Novoselic, especially after hearing news that the Japanese ambassador and its employees were rounded up by soldiers under the prime minister's command.

The head of the family tells Naegi that the best way he can do to get help is to get out of Novoselic and seek help from the United Nation and countries backed by the European nation, like the United Kingdom. He also tells Naegi that he has to be disguised now that some citizens became blinded by the reward money that the chancellor offered and this caused fellow Novoselic citizens to turn against one another while informing him about the martial law being imposed.

Naegi nodded and apologized for the troubles, but the patriarch assured that Naegi is the victim here and deserves to be helped, especially when it is obvious that the chancellor is behind all this.

"Really…I caused trouble to you and your country…"

"Do not say that, lad. You are the victim here and not the cause."

"But…"

"Blame it on the chancellor and the Prime Minister. They are doing this as they are drunk on power."

"…"

"For now we need to get you out of Novoselic. You must seek international help to combat the chancellor's foolishness."

"I…see."

"Rest for now, and later we'll see if we can sneak you out of this now-besieged country…"
