Chapter summary: Continuation of Chapter 37. Just how Boba ended up on Ahch-To. The fate of a Clone Trooper Commander. Lightsabers, and who should get them and why as far as Boba's concerned.

Of course, it transpired that the one known lightsaber amongst them was, well, a bit broken.

"It can be repaired," Luke said serenely to Rey, once he had woken up and was more or less coherent, "and I can teach you how to build one. Until then…Lucky, what you doing?"

Lucky was squirming his way out of the bunk.

"You're an idiot, Skywalker."

And didn't the Resistance react to that affectionate pronouncement.

Ignoring the shocked looks, Lucky went and dug around in one of the boxes he had brought with them from Ahch-To.

"Here!" he called as a lightsaber went sailing end over end at Luke, who caught it with a firm thump in his palm.

Luke stared at the lightsaber in wonder. Leia drawn in by the commotion, watched her brother turning his lightsaber around in his hands. She placed a gentle hand on Rey's shoulder.

"I threw this into the ocean."

"And I retrieved it," Lucky huffed and came back over with two other lightsabers, "throwing a perfectly good weapon like that away, my Dad would have had my…" he trailed off looking a little sick when he realized what he was going to say, "well, Dad wouldn't be happy."

Luke sat all the way up, and was staring at one of the 'sabers Lucky was holding.

"Is that…That's Ben's lightsaber!" Luke grabbed it from Lucky, dropping his own, to the confusion of the few members of the Resistance who had known Kylo Ren as Ben Organa-Solo, "it was destroyed on the Death Star."

"He means Obi-Wan Kenobi," he drawled, "Yes, it is, no, it wasn't," then he gentled, "you've never asked me how I ended up on Ahch-To. There was an old clone trooper on the Death Star, name of Cody, Vader ordered him to clean up the mess apparently. Bit of cruelty that. You see, Cody, well, Kenobi had been his General in the Clone Wars."

Lucky went silent for a moment, aware that that Resistance had crept up to hear the story.

"He took the lightsaber and the robe, and something broke in him. Went AWOL just before you blew it up, so no one realized. Spent the rest of his life looking for his General to return his 'saber and robe. Ended up on Tatooine just as the Empire fell."

"Where he saved you," Leia said flatly.

"Yes," Lucky smiled mirthlessly, "on good days I was either Wooley or Boil, on bad days…. Well Bad days were never fun. He got the bright idea to search for Jedi temples. His General had to have gone to one, safest place to hide right?"

"We ended up on Ahch-To. I never got to see my Dad grow old, never got to take care of him, like he took care of me when I was young. Cody was, was closest I got," Lucky choked for a moment, and Luke took his hand, "he went down fast, calling out for Kenobi. I buried him using that robe as a shroud ("That grave," Luke murmured softly,) woulda buried that lightsaber with him too, except he made me promise to give to the General when he turned up. Kenobi would want it back after all."

An uncomfortable silence rang through the Millennium Falcon, as Boba Fett grieved.

"And now you're giving it to me?" Rey finally asked softly, in wonderment.

Lucky snorted.

"No, I'm giving you this one," he handed her the other lightsaber, "Belonged to a Togruta Jedi Master named Shaak TI – Cody had it in his possession as well. She was well-regarded by many. She was kind, tried to send me stuff when the Republic locked me up when I was eleven."

He took Kenobi's lightsaber from Luke's hand.

"This one?"

Lucky turned to Finn who come up behind him.

"This one is yours, General."

Finn blinked. Luke, Leia and Rey all took a good long look him, a light dawning in their eyes.

"I'm not..."

"Oh, oh, yes, you are!" delighted laughter bubbled up from Rey as she pulled Finn into a hug, and then reached out to pull Poe in as well.

"You're as force sensitive as a brick," Leia said sideways to Lucky who was being hugged by his Jedi.

"Yep. But you all are too use to staring into Stars. You miss the candles. And candlelight can reach where starlight can't. Galaxy needs more candles."
