Chapter 37:

Bye Peace

He got into bed first and took up residence against the wall. I blushed and chuckled at him, knowing we were going to be squished together tonight. I went to put away my dirty clothes before getting in bed and I spotted the toy knife I had found in the throne room. It glinted softly and the urge to grab it arose again. I couldn't resist it and carefully dug it out.

"What's taken ya so long down there? See a monster under the bed?" Sans joked, moving closer to look down at me.

I wanted to giggle, but I felt that odd sense take over me, just like at the lab during Undyne's proposal. I was watching myself again. I stood up slowly, clenching the knife in my hand, and I craned my neck to grin menacingly at Sans. I could hear dark thoughts crashing through my head like waves.

"The only monster I see here is you, trash bag."

My voice no longer sounded like my own. It was higher, more crisp. My eyes looked more red than brown. It was like looking at someone different. Sans shot out of bed, eye glowing blue in an instant. He stood in front of Arial and stared down this person in front of him.

"I….Frisk….Frisk I know you're in there…." His voice shook slightly and he reached out a hand.

It was like he shoved me back into my own body and the knife fell from my hand. Not a second later I fell too, my knees losing all strength and sending me to the floor with a thud. Sans moved to catch me and raised my face to meet his.

"S-Sans...wh-what was that?"

Just as fast as the change came, it had gone. My eyes filled with horror now instead of whatever they had in them a second ago. The evil smile was gone and replaced with quivering lips and tears eyes. He pulled me to his chest and waited for both our breaths to even out.

I laid my head on his shoulder and listened to his heart beat. His heart was racing a bit under those thick bones but began to calm. It was clear I wasn't the only one that neared a panic attack just a moment ago.

Carefully he stood and helped me to my feet, guiding me into the bed. He took the edge this time but pulled me against him. His eyes kept searching my own before he finally spoke.

"Frisk...I need to know where you got that knife."
